  • When do I need to use, or not use, .datum when appending an svg element

    - by Bobby Gifford
    svg = d3.select("#viz").append("svg").datum(data) //I often see .datum when an area chart is used. Are there any rules of thumb for when .datum is needed? var area = d3.svg.area() .x(function(d) { return x(d.x); }) .y0(height) .y1(function(d) { return y(d.y); }); var svg = d3.select("body").append("svg") .attr("width", width) .attr("height", height); svg.append("path") .datum(data) .attr("d", area);

  • How to sort a list by the 2nd tuple element in python and C#

    - by user350468
I had a list of tuples where every tuple consists of two integers and I wanted to sort by the 2nd integer. After looking in the python help I got this: sorted(myList, key=lambda x: x[1]) which is great. My question is, is there an equally succinct way of doing this in C# (the language I have to work in)? I know the obvious answer involving creating classes and specifying an anonymous delegate for the whole compare step but perhaps there is a linq oriented way as well. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Split number and put each digit to separate html element

    - by Seven
The problem is that I do not know how to break the loop for the first number and start again for the next one. Currently, one span.nNumber has a total digits of the two numbers (123456) and the next span.nNumber contains digits only from another number (456). Goal is to create sequence 123 and 456: <span class='nNumber'> <span>1</span> <span>2</span> <span>3</span> </span> and <span class='nNumber'> <span>4</span> <span>5</span> <span>6</span> </span> Example script: http://jsfiddle.net/PZ8Pt/2/

  • IE 8 specifying background-color changes element behavior

    - by Mateo
I have an absolutely positioned div on which I am trying to trigger mouseenter and mouseleave events. In IE8/7 with the background-color of the div left unspecified (so that it defaults to transparent), the mouseenter/leave events are not firing when the cursor crosses the div's boundary, only somewhere in the middle of the div and when the cursor is over any text within the div. When I attempt to debug the problem by adding a background color to the div (e.g. background-color: green), the problem magically goes away. The div's box model is honored perfectly and mouseenter/leave fire as when expected. It's only when the div's background color is left unspecified (or even explicitly set to transparent) that it doesn't behave correctly. Any ideas? Googling for this IE bug/quirk is coming up with nothing.

  • webBrower Button Click without element ID?

    - by Jeremy
I'm working on a login system for a forum and trying to make it work via a c# .net form. I need to programitically click the login button on the forum with a webBrower control. So far I have this. webPage page = new webPage(); page.URL = txtURL.Text; page.Load(); //Load the text from the specified URL WebBrowser browser = new WebBrowser(); browser.Document.GetElementById("navbar_username").SetAttribute("value", textBox1.Text); browser.Document.GetElementById("navbar_password").SetAttribute("value", textBox2.Text); HtmlElement el = browser.Document.All["btnI"]; if (el != null) { el.InvokeMember("click"); } else { MessageBox.Show("There is an issue with the program"); } The issue is that the login button on the page does not have an ID or any real information that can allow me to click on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Here is the code for the login button. <input type="image" src="images/loginbutton.png" class="loginbutton" tabindex="104" value="Log in" title="Enter your username and password in the boxes provided to login, or click the 'register' button to create a profile for yourself." accesskey="s">

  • Deleting an element from an array in perl

    - by Flamewires
Hey I'm wondering how i can get this code to work, basically i want to keep the lines of $filename as long as they contain the $user in the path. Sry, perl noob. open STDERR, ">/dev/null"; $filename=`find -H /home | grep $file`; @filenames = split(/\n/, $filename); for $i (@filenames) { if ($i =~ m/$user/) { #keep results } else { delete $i; # does not work. } } $filename = join ("\n", @filenames); close STDERR; I know you can delete like delete $array[index] but I don't have an index with this kind of loop that I know of.

  • Dependent Dropdowns with single class element

    - by AJ
I am trying to create multiple dependent dropdowns (selects) with a unique way. I want to restrict the use of selectors and want to achieve this by using a single class selectors on all SELECTs; by figuring out the SELECT that was changed by its index. Hence, the SELECT[i] that changed will change the SELECT[i+1] only (and not the previous ones like SELECT[i-1]). For html like this: <select class="someclass"> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="mercedes">Mercedes</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> <select class="someclass"> </select> <select class="someclass"> </select> where the SELECTs other than the first one will get something via AJAX. I see that the following Javascript gives me correct value of the correct SELECT and the value of i also corresponds to the correct SELECT. $(function() { $(".someclass").each(function(i) { $(this).change(function(x) { alert($(this).val() + i); }); }); }); Please note that I really want the minimum selector approach. I just cannot wrap my head around on how to approach this. Should I use Arrays? Like store all the SELECTS in an Array first and then select those? I believe that since the above code already passes the index i, there should be a way without Arrays also. Thanks a bunch. AJ

  • JAXB Annotated class - setting of a variable which is not an element

    - by sswdeveloper
I have a JAXB annotated class say @XmlRootElement(namespace = "http://www.abc.com/customer") Class Customer{ @XmlElement(namespace = "http://www.abc.com/customer") private String Name; @XmlElement(namespace = "http://www.abc.com/customer") private String Address; @XmlTransient private HashSet set = new HashSet(); public String getName(){ return Name; } public void setName(String name){ this.Name = name; set.add("Name"); } public String getAddress(){ return Address; } public void setAddress(String address){ this.Address = address; set.add("Address"); } public void getSet(){ return set; } I have a XML of the form <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <Customer xmlns="http://www.abc.com/customer" > <Name>Ralph</Name> <Address>Newton Street</Address> </Customer> I use JAXB unmarshalling to get the object representation of the XML input. The values for Name and Address are set correctly. However the value of set gets lost(since it is @XMLTransient it gets ignored) Is there any way of ensuring that it is still set in the object which has been unmarshalled? Some other annotation which I can use?

  • Finding easily parseable chemical element data

    - by nickname
I am writing an application that needs simple data found (mostly) on the periodic table of elements, such as atomic mass, atomic number, state, etc. However, I would prefer not to manually enter this data. I managed to find the NIST website (http://www.nist.gov/pml/data/edi.cfm) with all of the data I need, but not in a downloadable format. Where can I find this data? Preferably, it would be in an XML/YAML/JSON/other documented format, however, any format would be helpful.

  • jquery append() method on empty XML element

    - by Anthony
This could just be a syntax error, but I'm trying to create a Document object from scratch, starting with document.implementation.createDocument() and then using jquery's append() method to add the elements. But it's not appending: var myDoc = document.implementation.createDocument("", 'stuff', null); $("stuff",myDoc).attr("test","tested"); $("stuff",myDoc).append("<test>A</test>"); $("<test>B</test>").appendTo("stuff",soapEnv); var s = new XMLSerializer(); alert(s.serializeToString(soapEnv)); This should output: <stuff test="tested"> <test>A</test> <test>B</test> </stuff> But instead it outputs: <stuff test="tested" /> So the selector seems to be working, just not the method. My only guess is the method doesn't account for the fact that elements are empty (<stuff />) until they have children. But that's just a guess.

  • Accessing the value of an input element with XPath in an XSLT

    - by asymmetric
    Hi! I'm developing a web app that has a button that triggers an XSLT transformation of the document DOM, with a stylesheet fetched via AJAX. Here's a portion of the HTML: <html> <head> <title>Static Javascript-based XMR Form Creator</title> </head> <body> <h1 id="title">Static Javascript-based XMR Form Creator</h1> <div class="opt_block" id="main_opts"> Form name <input type="text" id="form_name" /> Form cols <input type="text" id="form_cols" size="3" maxlength="3" /> </div> <button id="generate">Generate source</button> <textarea rows="20" cols="50" id="xmr_source" ></textarea> </body> Inside the stylesheet, I want to access the value attribute of the first input field, the one with id form_name. The XSLT looks like this: <xsl:template match="/html/body/div[@id = 'main_opts']" > <form> <xsl:attribute name="fname"> <xsl:value-of select="input[@id = 'form_name']/@value" /> </xsl:attribute> </form> </xsl:template> The problem is that the XPath that should do the work: <xsl:value-of select="input[@id = 'form_name']/@value" /> returns nothing. Can anyone help?
