• Join a single row in one table to n random rows in another

  Is it possible to make a join in SQL server that joins each row from table A to n random rows in another? For example, say I have a Customer table, a Product table and an Order table. I want to join each customer to 5 random products and insert these rows into the order table. (And each customer should be joined to 5 random rows of his own, I don't want all customers joining to the same 5 rows). Is this possible? I'm using SQL Server 2005 and it's fine if the solution is specific to that. This is a weird requirement but I'm basically making a small data generator to generate some random data.

• Why no ArgumentEmptyException in .NET ?

  I am beginning to think I am doing something wrong. I mean they did place System.String.IsNullOrWhitespace finally but no ArgumentEmptyException class. public FilterItem(string name, IEnumerable<string> extensions) { if (string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(name)) { throw new ArgumentNullException("name"); } if (extensions == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("extensions"); } if (extensions.Count() == 0) { throw new ArgumentOutOfRangeException("extensions"); } this.Name = name; this.Extensions = extensions; } throwing an ArgumentOutOfRangeException feels unnatural. Also an instance of ArgumentException is too general in my opinion. It's easy to me to create a new exception class call it this way and have it over with. What bugs me is that it's not in the BCL/FCL and I am beginning to think there's a good reason not to have it. Should there be one?

  I am generating a matrix report dynamically using report viewer version 9.0 in visual studio 2010. If i export save and print then it works normally. If there more columns report expands horizontally across mutiple pages. If i give Print option available in the toolbar of the report viewer. The columns are moved to second page which is correct but the row headers (product 1, product 2) should not be repeated in the second page.In the second page report should have all details except the product information. I am also interested to know whether it is the functionality of this version report viewer.

I understand this can be achieved by some special symbols but still i would like to know the standard way. What is the best way to read this data into a simple list like this: data = [[#meta data 1, skadjflaskdjfasljdfalskdjflsdkfjhasdlkgjhsdlkjghlaskdjasdhfk], [#meta data 2, jflaksdjflaksjdflkjasdlfjasldaksjflkdsajlkdfj], [#meta data 3, alsdkjflasdjkfglalaskdjf]] My initial idea was to use the read() method to read the whole file into memory and then use regular expressions to parse the data into the desired format. Is there a better more pythonic way? All metadata lines start with an octothorpe and all data lines are all alpha-numeric. Thanks!

  Given a text file that is supposed to contain 10 tab-delimited columns (i.e. 9 tabs), I'd like to find all rows that have more than 10 columns (more than 9 tabs). Each row ends with CR-LF. Assume nothing about the data, field widths, etc, other than the above. Comments regarding approach, and/or working code would be extremely appreciated. • Speeding up jQuery empty() or replaceWith() Functions When Dealing with Large DOM Elements

  Let me start off by apologizing for not giving a code snippet. The project I'm working on is proprietary and I'm afraid I can't show exactly what I'm working on. However, I'll do my best to be descriptive. Here's a breakdown of what goes on in my application: User clicks a button Server retrieves a list of images in the form of a data-table Each row in the table contains 8 data-cells that in turn each contain one hyperlink Each request by the user can contain up to 50 rows (I can change this number if need be) That means the table contains upwards of 800 individual DOM elements My analysis shows that jQuery("#dataTable").empty() and jQuery("#dataTable).replaceWith(tableCloneObject) take up 97% of my overall processing time and take on average 4 - 6 seconds to complete. I'm looking for a way to speed up either of the above mentioned jQuery functions when dealing with massive DOM elements that need to be removed / replaced. I hope my explanation helps.

• Python module seeing a full list as empty in another module

  I'm working on a pygame project and have the main engine layed out. The problem is I hit a bug that I just can not seem to figure out. What happens is one module can't read a variable from another module. It's not that the variable can't be read, it just sees an empty list instead of what it really is. • Cursor returns zero rows from query to table

  I've created an SQLiteDatabase in my app and populated it with some data. I can connect to my AVD with a terminal and when I issue select * from articles; I get a list of all the rows in my table and everything looks fine. However, in my code when I query my table, I get a cursor back that has my tables columns, but zero rows of data. • PHP 5.4: disable warning "Creating default object from empty value"

  I want to migrate code from PHP 5.2 to 5.4. This worked fine so far except that all the code I use makes extensive use of just using an object with a member without any initialisation, like: $MyObject->MyMember = "Hello"; which results in the warning: "Creating default object from empty value" I know that the solution would be to use: $MyObject = new stdClass(); $MyObject->MyMember = "Hello"; but it would be A LOT OF WORK to change this in all my code, because I use this many times in different projects. I know, it's not good style, but unfortunately I'm not able to spend the next weeks adding this to all of my code. I know I could set the php error_reporting to not reporting warnings, but I want to be able to still get other warnings and notices. This warning doesn't seem to be effected by enable or disable E_STRICT at all. So is there a way to just disable this warning?!

  Ok, in this question I learned how to prevent the insert of a NULL value. But, unfortunately, an empty string is being inserted anyway. Apart from preventing this on the PHP side, I'd like to use something like a database constraint to prevent this. Of course a check on the application side is necessary, but I'd like it to be on both sides. I am taught that whatever application is talking to your database, it should not be able to insert basically wrong data in it. So...   i am using modalpopup to enter some value in a textfield. after the value is selected in the modalpopup view, the modalpopup is closed and the value has taken the propriate value.   On the back of Django 1.2RC1, I have built a great administrator for my client! It's awesome. The client has one request that, if not satisfied, could bring this house of cards crashing down. I have a list of swim meet results. A meet result is added by a superuser. A team rep can edit a meet result (which they must be able to do inline, with list_editable), but after they edit the meet result inline and save, they should no longer be able to edit that result inline. They can only perform one edit. So, my question ... can I turn off list_editable on a per row basis?

  Hei, In my application i'm using DataGrid to show some data. To get everything working with threading i'm using AsyncObservableCollection as DataContext of DataGrid. When my application starts it looks for files in some folders and updates AsyncObservableCollection. Now here's where things go bad, when i start the application for some reason i get 2 rows with same data in DataGrid even if there is one item in collection. If i add a delay(Thread.Sleep() 50ms minimum) before executing loading files method then DataGrid show everything correctly (no extra row). Have anybody encountered something similar or is there something else i should try? Thanks in advance!
