  • Data not displayed first time in android after copying the file from assets to data folder

    Description I have used the code tip from http://www.reigndesign.com/blog/using-your-own-sqlite-database-in-android-applications/ to copy a pre-filled data file to the target and handled this in a asynch task Problem : On starting the application it gives error and shuts down first time, starting again without any change it works perfectly fine. So first time after the file is copied, the error comes but after that no issues. New database contains table Profiles with column Country_CountryId. How can I write configuration for changing column name to "CountryId"? Thanks.

  • Entity Framework - Many to Many Subquery

    I asked a question about this previously but my database structure has changed, and while it made other things simpler, now this part is more complicated. Here is the previous question. At the time, my EF Context had a UsersProjects object because there were other properties. Now that I've simplified that table, it is just the keys, so all my EF context knows about is Users and Projects and the M2M relationship between them. There is no more UsersProjects as far as EF knows. So my goal is to say "show me all the users who are working on projects with me." in SQL, this would go something like: SELECT * FROM Users INNER JOIN UsersProjects ON Users.ID=UsersProjects.UserID WHERE ProjectID IN (SELECT ProjectID FROM UsersProjects WHERE UserID=@UserID) and I started in EF with something like this: var myProjects = (from p in edmx.Projects where p.Users.Contains(edmx.Users.FirstOrDefault(u => u.Email == UserEmail)) orderby p.Name select p).ToList(); var associatedUsers = (from u in edmx.Users where myProjects.Contains(?????????) //where myProjects.Any(????????) select u); The trick is finding what to put in the ????????.   • Commitment to Zend Framework - any arguments against?

    I am refurbishing a big CMS that I have been working on for quite a number of years now. The product itself is great, but some components, the Database and translation classes for example, need urgent replacing - partly self-made as far back as 2002, grown into a bit of a chaos over time, and might have trouble surviving a security audit. So, I've been looking closely at a number of frameworks (or, more exactly, component Libraries, as I do not intend to change the basic structure of the CMS) and ended up with liking Zend Framework the best. They offer a solid MVC model but don't force you into it, and they offer a lot of professional components that have obviously received a lot of attention (Did you know there are multiple plurals in Russian, and you can't translate them using a simple ($number == 0) or ($number > 1) switch? I didn't, but Zend_Translate can handle it. Just to illustrate the level of thorougness the library seems to have been built with.) I am now literally at the point of no return, starting to replace key components of the system by the Zend-made ones. I'm not really having second thoughts - and I am surely not looking to incite a flame war - but before going onward, I would like to step back for a moment and look whether there is anything speaking against tying a big system closely to Zend Framework. What I like about Zend: As far as I can see, very high quality code Extremely well documented, at least regarding introductions to how things work (Haven't had to use detailed API documentation yet) Backed by a company that has an interest in seeing the framework prosper Well received in the community, has a considerable user base Employs coding standards I like Comes with a full set of unit tests Feels to me like the right choice to make - or at least, one of the right choices - in terms of modern, professional PHP development. I have been thinking about encapsulating and abstracting ZF's functionality into own classes to be able to switch frameworks more easily, but have come to the conclusion that this would not be a good idea because: it would be an unnecessary level of abstraction it could cost performance the big advantage of using a framework - the existence of a developer base that is familiar with its components - would partly be cancelled out therefore, the commitment to ZF would be a deep one. Thus my question: Is there anything substantial speaking against committing to the Zend Framework? Do you have insider knowledge of plans of Zend Inc.'s to go evil in 2011, and make it a closed source library? Is Zend Inc. run by vampires? Are there conceptual flaws in the code base you start to notice when you've transitioned all your projects to it? Is the appearance of quality code an illusion? Does the code look good, but run terribly slow on anything below my quad-core workstation?

  • Do I need to include all fields in my entity framework model

    Quick question for everyone: Do I need to include all the database table fields on my EF model? For example; I've created a sub-model that only deals with tblPayment and associated tables. Now, I need to write a LINQ query to get some information about items. I would typically get this by joining tblPayment to tblInvoice to tblInvoiceItem to finally tblOrderItem. I'm wondering if when I add in those other tables, do I need to include all the fields for tblInvoice and tblInvoiceItem? Ideally; I'd just like to keep the fields I'd need to join on, as that would limit the possibility of my sub-model breaking if other fields on those tables are modified/deleted. Can I do this?

    I'm using a transaction to insert multiple rows in multiple tables. For these rows I would like to add these rows in order. Upon calling SaveChanges all the rows are inserted out of order. When not using a transaction and saving changes after each insertion does keep order, but I really need a transaction for all entries.

    Hi, the problem is that it will insert a new record in a mysql table, I have already done the mapping of the mysql db and I have already done tests returning data and everything works. Now I read from a file, where there are queries written, I have them run me back and the result of true or false based on the final outcome of single query written to the file. Txt; I did this: using (var w = new demotestEntities ()) ( foreach (var l listaqueri) ( var p = we.CreateQuery <category> (l); we.SaveChanges (); result = true; ) ) but it does not work, I sense that it returns no errors, but neither the result given written in the query. txt file is as follows: INSERT INTO category (id, name) VALUES (null, 'test2') anyone can help me?

  • Visual Studio 2012 testing with csla and entity framework

    In VS2010 my MSTest test run just fine. When running in VS2012 I am getting an error. The test sets the Csla.ApplicationContext.User with a Custom Business Principal. When EntityFramework is asked to provide a new ObjectContext I receive a SerializationException saying that my Custom Business Principal type cannot be found. So far all tests that use EntityFramework fail when running through VS2012's test runner or Resharper7's test runner. I have tried NCrunch's test runner and they all pass. Thank you in advance.

  • Complex orderby question (entity framework)

    Ok, so I will start by saying that I am new to all this stuff, and doing my best to work on this project. I have an employee object, that contains a supervisor field. When someone enters a search on my page, a datagrid displays employees whose name match the search. But, I need it to display all employees that report to them and a third tier of employees that report to the original employee's underlings. I only need three tiers. To make this easier, employees only come in 3 ranks, so if rank==3, that employee is not in charge of others. I imagine the best method of retrieving all these employees from my employee table would be something like from employee in context.employees where employee.name == search || employee.boss.name == search || employee.boss.boss.name == search But I am not sure how to make the orderby appear the way I want to. I need it to display in tiers. So, it will look like: Big Boss Boss underling underling Boss underling Boss Boss Big Boss Like I said, there might be an easier way to approach this whole issue, and if there is, I am all ears. Any advice you can give would be HIGHLY appreciated.

  • Doctrine: How to traverse from an entity to another 'linked' entity?

    I'm loading 3 different tables using a cross-join in Doctrine_RawSql. This brings me back the following object: User -> User class (doctrine base class) Settings -> DoctrineCollection of Setting User_Settings -> DoctrineCollection of User_Setting The object above is the result of a many-to-many relationship between User and Setting where User_Setting acts as a reference table. User_Setting also contains another field named value. This obviously contains the value of the corresponding Setting. All good so far, however the Settings and User_Settings properties of the returned User object are in no way linked to each other (apart from the setting_id field ofcourse). Is there any direct way to traverse directly from the Settings property to the corresponding User_Settings property?     In NHibernate there is a merge function that does the following: if there is a persistent instance with the same identifier currently associated with the session, copy the state of the given object onto the persistent instance if there is no persistent instance currently associated with the session, try to load it from the database, or create a new persistent instance the persistent instance is returned Is this possible in EF? I mean this part : copy the state of the given object onto the persistent instance. And if i used ApplyCurrentValues it seemes to be as update behavior or not?

    In MVC app, I am having this big object that is used in classic view/edit/create pattern. When user edits the object I save it as: public bool SetMyObject(MyObject newObject) { MyObject current = GetObjectById(newObject.Id); current.Prop1 = newObject.Prop1 ... current.PropN = newObject.PropN db.SaveChanges(); } MyObject is pretty big so I am wondering is there any better way to do this, not involving per-property assignments.     I've made a UIScrollView the first responder. I need to maintain touch events to a touchesEnded:withEvent: method on a view behind it. I've tried using the nextResponder method and that failed. I've tried forwarding touchesEnded:withEvent to the view behind it and that fails. How do I get this to work? The UIScrollView wont work unless it is the first responder or gets events some other way. Thank you for any help. Shame Apple's documentation and APIs are terrible in areas.

    I created some tables in an .edmx file and have been generating the database by selecting "Generate Database From Model" and manually executing an .edmx.sql file on the database to build the tables. Now, however, I am creating a setup dialog that allows the user to connect the program up to their own database. I thought running context.CreateDatabase would be good enough to create the database, along with the tables, but the tables are not created. What is the preferred method for creating the database and tables when the user specifies their own server and database to use, when originally starting with a model?

  • Entity Framework 4 omits some associations during model generation

    After creating an EF4 model from a SQL Server database I noticed that all the relationships of my Users table were not imported into the model as associations. All the other relationships were imported fine. My Users table has a PK userId which is a char(7) field and it is integrated into several other tables in the database as an FK but for some reason EF4 does not import these relationships as associations during the model generation process... Does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?
