  • Using PHP GD to create image form text with different fonts.

    - by Meredith
    I have been using this simple script to generate images from text: <?php header('Content-type: image/png'); $color = RgbfromHex($_GET['color']); $text = urldecode($_GET['text']); $font = 'arial.ttf'; $im = imagecreatetruecolor(400, 30); $bg_color = imagecolorallocate($im, 255, 255, 255); $font_color = imagecolorallocate($im, $color[0], $color[1], $color[2]); imagefilledrectangle($im, 0, 0, 399, 29, $bg_color); imagettftext($im, 20, 0, 10, 20, $font_color, $font, $text); imagepng($im); imagedestroy($im); function RgbfromHex($hexValue) { if(strlen(trim($hexValue))==6) { return array( hexdec(substr($hexValue,0,2)), // R hexdec(substr($hexValue,2,4)), // G hexdec(substr($hexValue,4,6)) // B ); } else return array(0, 0, 0); } ?> I call the script with file.php?text=testing script&color=000000 Now I'd like to know how could I generate text with normal and bold fonts mixed in the same image, something like file.php?text=testing <b>script</b>&color=000000

  • How to scale JPEG images with a non-standard sampling factor in Java?

    - by HRJ
    I am using Java AWT for scaling a JPEG image, to create thumbnails. The code works fine when the image has a normal sampling factor ( 2x2,1x1,1x1 ) However, an image which has this sampling factor ( 1x1, 1x1, 1x1 ) creates problem when scaled. The colors get corrupted though the features are recognizable. The original and the thumbnail: The code I am using is roughly equivalent to: static BufferedImage awtScaleImage(BufferedImage image, int maxSize, int hint) { // We use AWT Image scaling because it has far superior quality // compared to JAI scaling. It also performs better (speed)! System.out.println("AWT Scaling image to: " + maxSize); int w = image.getWidth(); int h = image.getHeight(); float scaleFactor = 1.0f; if (w > h) scaleFactor = ((float) maxSize / (float) w); else scaleFactor = ((float) maxSize / (float) h); w = (int)(w * scaleFactor); h = (int)(h * scaleFactor); // since this code can run both headless and in a graphics context // we will just create a standard rgb image here and take the // performance hit in a non-compatible image format if any Image i = image.getScaledInstance(w, h, hint); image = new BufferedImage(w, h, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB); Graphics2D g = image.createGraphics(); g.drawImage(i, null, null); g.dispose(); i.flush(); return image; } (Code courtesy of this page ) Is there a better way to do this? Here's a test image with sampling factor of [ 1x1, 1x1, 1x1 ].

  • Why '.png' files produced by ImageMagick are so much bigger than '.jpg' & '.gif' files?

    - by Nick Gorbikoff
    Hello. I'm using ImageMagick to convert some files from one format to another. I was always under the impression that .png files were supposed to be as big/small as .jpg if not smaller, and definitely smaller than .gif. However when I run convert photo.jpg photo.png The files I'm getting out is about 6 times bigger than the original jpg. Original jpg is a regular photo about 300x500 px, 52 kb. Output is a proper png of the same dimensions, but size is about 307 kb? Does anyoone know what the hack is going on? Am I doing something wrong? P.S.: I tried both on Debian and Windows with the same results.

  • Matlab matrix translation and rotation multiple times

    - by pinnacler
    I have a map of individual trees from a forest stored as x,y points in a matrix. I call it fixedPositions. It's cartesian and (0,0) is the origin. I would like 0/360 degrees to be the top of the screen and 90 degrees to be to the right. Given a velocity and a heading, i.e. .5 m/s and 60 degrees (2 o'clock equivalent on a watch), how do I rotate that x,y points, so that the new origin is centered at (.5cos(60),.5sin(60)) and 60 degrees is now at the top of the screen? Then if I were to give you another heading and speed, i.e. 0 degrees and 2m/s, it should calculate it from the last point, not the original fixedPositions origin. I've wasted my day trying to figure this out. I wish I took matrix algebra but I'm at a loss. I tried doing cos(30) and even those wouldn't compute correctly, which after an hour I realize were in radians.

  • Saving a remote image with cURL?

    - by thebluefox
    Morning all, Theres a few questions around this but none that really answer my question, as far as I ca understand. Basically I have a GD script that deals with resizing and caching images on our server, but I need to do the same with images stored on a remote server. So, I'm wanting to save the image locally, then resize and display it as normal. I've got this far... $file_name_array = explode('/', $filename); $file_name_array_r = array_reverse($file_name_array); $save_to = 'system/cache/remote/'.$file_name_array_r[1].'-'.$file_name_array_r[0]; $ch = curl_init($filename); $fp = fopen($save_to, "wb"); // set URL and other appropriate options $options = array(CURLOPT_FILE => $fp, CURLOPT_HEADER => 0, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION => 1, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT => 60); // 1 minute timeout (should be enough) curl_setopt_array($ch, $options); curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); fclose($fp); This creates the image file, but does not copy it accross? Am I missing the point? Cheers guys.

  • How can one manage to fully use the newly enhanced Parallelism features in .NET 4.0?

    - by Will Marcouiller
    I am pretty much interested into using the newly enhanced Parallelism features in .NET 4.0. I have also seen some possibilities of using it in F#, as much as in C#. Despite, I can only see what PLINQ has to offer with, for example, the following: var query = from c in Customers.AsParallel() where (c.Name.Contains("customerNameLike") select c; There must for sure be some other use of this parallelism thing. Have you any other examples of using it? Is this particularly turned toward PLINQ, or are there other usage as easy as PLINQ? Thanks! =)

  • Thread management advice - Is TPL a good idea?

    - by Ian
    I'm hoping to get some advice on the use of thread managment and hopefully the task parallel library, because I'm not sure I've been going down the correct route. Probably best is that I give an outline of what I'm trying to do. Given a Problem I need to generate a Solution using a heuristic based algorithm. I start of by calculating a base solution, this operation I don't think can be parallelised so we don't need to worry about. Once the inital solution has been generated, I want to trigger n threads, which attempt to find a better solution. These threads need to do a couple of things: They need to be initalized with a different 'optimization metric'. In other words they are attempting to optimize different things, with a precedence level set within code. This means they all run slightly different calculation engines. I'm not sure if I can do this with the TPL.. If one of the threads finds a better solution that the currently best known solution (which needs to be shared across all threads) then it needs to update the best solution, and force a number of other threads to restart (again this depends on precedence levels of the optimization metrics). I may also wish to combine certain calculations across threads (e.g. keep a union of probabilities for a certain approach to the problem). This is probably more optional though. The whole system needs to be thread safe obviously and I want it to be running as fast as possible. I tried quite an implementation that involved managing my own threads and shutting them down etc, but it started getting quite complicated, and I'm now wondering if the TPL might be better. I'm wondering if anyone can offer any general guidance? Thanks...

  • python multiprocess update dictionary synchronously

    - by user1050325
    I am trying to update one common dictionary through multiple processes. Could you please help me find out what is the problem with this code? I get the following output: inside function {1: 1, 2: -1} comes here inside function {1: 0, 2: 2} comes here {1: 0, 2: -1} Thanks. from multiprocessing import Lock, Process, Manager l= Lock() def computeCopyNum(test,val): l.acquire() test[val]=val print "inside function" print test l.release() return a=dict({1: 0, 2: -1}) procs=list() for i in range(1,3): p = Process(target=computeCopyNum, args=(a,i)) procs.append(p) p.start() for p in procs: p.join() print "comes here" print a

  • function taking in an input image and different kernel size

    - by drifterOcean19
    I have this filtering function that takes an input image, performs convolution using a given kernel, and returns the resulting image. However, I can't seem to work it out how to make it takes different kernel sizes.For example instead of pre-defined 3x3 kernel as below in the code, it could instead take 5x5 or 7x7. and then the user could input the type of kernel/filter they want(Depending on the intended effect). I can't seem to put my head around it. i'm quite new to matlab. function [newImg] = kernelFunc(imgB) img=imread(imgB); figure,imshow(img); img2=zeros(size(img)+2); newImg=zeros(size(img)); for rgb=1:3 for x=1:size(img,1) for y=1:size(img,2) img2(x+1,y+1,rgb)=img(x,y,rgb); end end end for rgb=1:3 for i= 1:size(img2,1)-2 for j=1:size(img2,2)-2 window=zeros(9,1); inc=1; for x=1:3 for y=1:3 window(inc)=img2(i+x-1,j+y-1,rgb); inc=inc+1; end end kernel=[1;2;1;2;4;2;1;2;1]/16; med=window.*kernel; disp(med); med=sum(med); med=floor(med); newImg(i,j,rgb)=med; end end end newImg=uint8(newImg); figure,imshow(newImg); end

  • I/O Asynchronous Completion

    - by lockedscope
    In the following, it is said that an I/O handle must be associated with the thread pool but i could not find where in the given example an handle is associated with the thread. Which function or code helps to bind the file handle in that example? Using asynchronous I/O completion events, a thread from the thread pool processes data only when the data is received, and once the data has been processed, the thread returns to the thread pool. To make an asynchronous I/O call, an operating-system I/O handle must be associated with the thread pool and a callback method must be specified. When the I/O operation completes, a thread from the thread pool invokes the callback method. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa720215(VS.71).aspx

  • Data not displayed first time in android after copying the file from assets to data folder

    - by Thinkcomplete
    Description I have used the code tip from http://www.reigndesign.com/blog/using-your-own-sqlite-database-in-android-applications/ to copy a pre-filled data file to the target and handled this in a asynch task Problem : On starting the application it gives error and shuts down first time, starting again without any change it works perfectly fine. So first time after the file is copied, the error comes but after that no issues. Please help Code attached:.. private class CopyDatabase extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Boolean> { private final ProgressDialog dialog = new ProgressDialog(BabyNames.this); protected void onPreExecute() { this.dialog.setMessage("Loading..."); this.dialog.show(); } @Override protected Boolean doInBackground(String... params) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub try { namesDBSQLHelper.createDatabase(); return null; } catch(IOException ioe){ ioe.printStackTrace(); } return null; } protected void onPostExecute(final Boolean success){ if (this.dialog.isShowing()){ this.dialog.dismiss(); } } }

  • how to set the output image use com.android.camera.action.CROP

    - by adi.zean
    I have code to crop an image, like this : public void doCrop(){ Intent intent = new Intent("com.android.camera.action.CROP"); intent.setType("image/"); List<ResolveInfo> list = getPackageManager().queryIntentActivities(intent,0); int size = list.size(); if (size == 0 ){ Toast.makeText(this, "Cant find crop app").show(); return; } else{ intent.setData(selectImageUri); intent.putExtra("outputX", 300); intent.putExtra("outputY", 300); intent.putExtra("aspectX", 1); intent.putExtra("aspectY", 1); intent.putExtra("scale", true); intent.putExtra("return-data", true); if (size == 1) { Intent i = new Intent(intent); ResolveInfo res = list.get(0); i.setComponent(new ComponentName(res.activityInfo.packageName, res.activityInfo.name)); startActivityForResult(i, CROP_RESULT); } } } public void onActivityResult (int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent dara){ if (resultCode == RESULT_OK){ if (requestCode == CROP_RESULT){ Bundle extras = data.getExtras(); if (extras != null){ bmp = extras.getParcelable("data"); } File f = new File(selectImageUri.getPath()); if (f.exists()) f.delete(); Intent inten3 = new Intent(this, tabActivity.class); startActivity(inten3); } } } from what i have read, the code intent.putExtra("outputX", 300); intent.putExtra("outputY", 300); is use to set the resolution of crop result, but why i can't get the result image resolution higer than 300x300? when i set the intent.putExtra("outputX", 800); intent.putExtra("outputY", 800); the crop function has no result or crash, any idea for this situation? the log cat say "! ! !   • C++ converting binary(P5) image to ascii(P2) image (.pgm)

    - by tubby
    I am writing a simple program to convert grayscale binary (P5) to grayscale ascii (P2) but am having trouble reading in the binary and converting it to int. #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <sstream> using namespace::std; int usage(char* arg) { // exit program cout << arg << ": Error" << endl; return -1; } int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int rows, cols, size, greylevels; string filetype; // open stream in binary mode ifstream istr(argv[1], ios::in | ios::binary); if(istr.fail()) return usage(argv[1]); // parse header istr >> filetype >> rows >> cols >> greylevels; size = rows * cols; // check data cout << "filetype: " << filetype << endl; cout << "rows: " << rows << endl; cout << "cols: " << cols << endl; cout << "greylevels: " << greylevels << endl; cout << "size: " << size << endl; // parse data values int* data = new int[size]; int fail_tracker = 0; // find which pixel failing on for(int* ptr = data; ptr < data+size; ptr++) { char t_ch; // read in binary char istr.read(&t_ch, sizeof(char)); // convert to integer int t_data = static_cast<int>(t_ch); // check if legal pixel if(t_data < 0 || t_data > greylevels) { cout << "Failed on pixel: " << fail_tracker << endl; cout << "Pixel value: " << t_data << endl; return usage(argv[1]); } // if passes add value to data array *ptr = t_data; fail_tracker++; } // close the stream istr.close(); // write a new P2 binary ascii image ofstream ostr("greyscale_ascii_version.pgm"); // write header ostr << "P2 " << rows << cols << greylevels << endl; // write data int line_ctr = 0; for(int* ptr = data; ptr < data+size; ptr++) { // print pixel value ostr << *ptr << " "; // endl every ~20 pixels for some readability if(++line_ctr % 20 == 0) ostr << endl; } ostr.close(); // clean up delete [] data; return 0; } sample image - Pulled this from an old post. Removed the comment within the image file as I am not worried about this functionality now. When compiled with g++ I get output: $> ./a.out a.pgm filetype: P5 rows: 1024 cols: 768 greylevels: 255 size: 786432 Failed on pixel: 1 Pixel value: -110 a.pgm: Error The image is a little duck and there's no way the pixel value can be -110...where am I going wrong? Thanks.

  • What's the fastest way to strip and replace a document of high unicode characters using Python?

    - by Rhubarb
    I am looking to replace from a large document all high unicode characters, such as accented Es, left and right quotes, etc., with "normal" counterparts in the low range, such as a regular 'E', and straight quotes. I need to perform this on a very large document rather often. I see an example of this in what I think might be perl here: http://www.designmeme.com/mtplugins/lowdown.txt Is there a fast way of doing this in Python without using s.replace(...).replace(...).replace(...)...? I've tried this on just a few characters to replace and the document stripping became really slow.
