  • VS2010 Load Testing - Restricting ports

    As per the trouble shooting guide for VS2010 Load Testing (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vststest/thread/df043823-ffcf-46a4-9e47-1c4b8854ca13), I'm trying to restrict the range of ports used for client-controller communication. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\VisualStudio\10.0\EnterpriseTools\QualityTools\ListenPortRange\PortRangeStart HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\VisualStudio\10.0\EnterpriseTools\QualityTools\ListenPortRange\PortRangeEnd I've set these keys on the client as described but according to netstat the client is still listening on random ports. The controller is attempting to communicate on the same random ports as the client. Anyone experienced the same?

  • Change namespace/filesystem folder names in Visual Studio

    I'm trying to change a namespace in Visual Studio. My folder structure looks something like this: GameAlpha/ GameAlpha.sln GameAlphaRelease/ GameAlphaTest/ GameAlphaLevelEditor/ These include namespaces like GameAlphaRelease. I want to change all this to GameBetaRelease. Before this process, it built fine. First, I changed the solution and project files from Alpha to Beta. Then, I did a "find-replace-all" on the namespace. Finally, I went through the properties of each project and changed the "Assembly Name" and "Default Namespace" to the appropriate Beta title. However, now the solution does not build. The error is: GameAlpha.accessor: The reference to 'GameAlpha.exe' was not found in the list of this projects references. (Project: GameBetaTest) What am I doing wrong? If I remove project GameBetaTest, the solution builds just fine. Also, what is the preferable way to change the names of the folders in the file system?

    I am starting getting used to Eclipse, but I have much more experience with Visual Studio. In Visual Studio it is possible to run auto commands after the build has finished. Now I am creating a GWT project and several other projects at once in one solution (or workspace) in Eclipse. Some files which are compiled with the GWT project needs to be copied to another location when they have been compiled. I am currently doing this manually and would like to do it automatically. I am not doing it often, since the project works fine in debug mode (...?gwt.codesvr=localhost:9997). But where is the location for executing a post build command for a GWT project in eclipse? Is it possible?

And this time, it’s about “Workflows in SharePoint 2013” – and there will be a part 2 of this next month. Here is a starter .. If we have been friends for a while, you must know my opinions about workflows in SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2007. I didn’t think they were very good, especially from a performance and scalability point of view. Frankly I think Microsoft should have called them “workslows.” Though, I don’t think it was the implementation in SharePoint that was the issue, it was fundamental issues with Workflow Foundation, compounded by the nature of SharePoint that acerbated the issues. Well, I am happy to say that Workflows in SharePoint 2013 are something I feel quite comfortable recommending to anyone, and I hope to make that case in this article. Read more ..   • Windows Media Encoder object not created in ASP.NET on MS Server 2003 64 bit

    Hello, I created (and used) a Windows Media Encoder object in Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition on MS Server 2003 64 bit. This worked fine. However, when I attempted to create the equivalent Windows Media Encoder object using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 on MS Server 2003 64 bit, the following exception was thrown: "Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {632B606A-BBC6-11D2-A329-006097C4E476} failed due to the following error: 80040154." It cannot be that the component isn’t registered, because both have a reference to the same WMEncEng.dll file. The Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 code also worked fine on XP 32 bit. Could it be a problem with permissions? Regardless, anyone have any ideas why this problem is occurring and, more importantly, how to resolve it? Thank you.
