• Write asynchronously to file in perl

  Basically I would like to: Read a large amount of data from the network into an array into memory. Asynchronously write this array data, running it thru bzip2 before it hits the disk. repeat.. Is this possible? If this is possible, I know that I will have to somehow read the next pass of data into a different array as the AIO docs say that this array must not be altered before the async write is complete. I would like to background all of my writes to disk in order as the bzip2 pass is going to take much longer than the network read. Is this doable? • Preg Expression to identify classes/ids in a CSS file that have no contents

  I'm in the process of updating some old CSS files in our systems, and we have a bunch that have lots of empty classes simply taking up space in the file. I'd love to learn how to write Regular expressions, but I just don't get them. I'm hoping the more I expose myself to them (with a little more cohesive explanation), the more I'll end up understanding them. The Problem That said, I'm looking for an expression that will identify text followed by a '{' (some have spaces in between, and some do not) and if there are no letters or numbers between that bracket and '}' (spaces don't count), it will be identified as a matching string. I suppose I can trim the whitespace out of the doc before I run a regular expression through it, but I don't want to change the basic structure of the text. I'm hoping to return it into a large <textarea>. Bonus points for explaining the characters and their meanings, and also an expression identifying lines in the copy without any text or numbers, as well. I will likely use the final expression in PHP script. tl;dr: Regular Expression to match: .a_class_or #an_id { /* if there aren't any alphanumerics in here, this should be a matching line of text */ }

  I have a database table with one field, called ID, being an auto increment integer. Using a TableAdapter I can read and modify existing rows as well as create new ones. However if I try to modify a newly inserted row I get an DBConcurrencyException: OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection(@"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=Shift.mdb;Persist Security Info=True"); ShiftDataSetTableAdapters.ShiftTableAdapter shiftTA = new ShiftDataSetTableAdapters.ShiftTableAdapter(); shiftTA.Connection = conn; ShiftDataSet.ShiftDataTable table = new ShiftDataSet.ShiftDataTable(); ShiftDataSet.ShiftRow row = table.NewShiftRow(); row.Name = "life"; table.Rows.Add(row); shiftTA.Update(row); // row.ID == -1 row.Name = "answer"; // <-- all fine up to here shiftTA.Update(row); // DBConcurrencyException: 0 rows affected Separate question, is there any static type of the NewShiftRow() method I can use so that I don't have to create table everytime I want to insert a new row. I guess the problem in the code comes from row.ID that is still -1 after the first Update() call. The Insert is successful and in the database the row has a valid value of ID. How can I get that ID so that I can continue with the second Update call? Update: IT looks like this could have been done automatically using this setting. However according to the answer on msdn social, OLEDB drivers do not support this feature. Not sure where to go from here, use something else than oledb? Update: Tried SQLCompact but discovered that it had the same limitation, it does not support multiple statements. Final question: is there any simple(single file based) database that would allow you to get the values of a inserted row.

  How can I add a jar to my bundle in Apache Felix? I am using maven, with maven-bundle-plugin to manage my bundles in OBR for me. But I am not sure where to declare the dependency inside my POM on the jar, so that maven correctly compiles it into the final bundle.   Hello and thanks for any assistance. I have a wcf service that I'm trying to properly modularize. I'm interested in finding out if there is a better way or implementing the file and directory structure along with instanciatation, is there a more appropriate way of abstraction that I may be missing? Is this the best approach? especially if performance and the ability to handle thousands of simultanious request? • detecting pauses in a spoken word audio file using pymad, pcm, vad, etc

  First I am going to broadly state what I'm trying to do and ask for advice. Then I will explain my current approach and ask for answers to my current problems. Problem I have an MP3 file of a person speaking. I'd like to split it up into segments roughly corresponding to a sentence or phrase. (I'd do it manually, but we are talking hours of data.) If you have advice on how to do this programatically or for some existing utilities, I'd love to hear it. (I'm aware of voice activity detection and I've looked into it a bit, but I didn't see any freely available utilities.) Current Approach I thought the simplest thing would be to scan the MP3 at certain intervals and identify places where the average volume was below some threshold. Then I would use some existing utility to cut up the mp3 at those locations. I've been playing around with pymad and I believe that I've successfully extracted the PCM (pulse code modulation) data for each frame of the mp3. Now I am stuck because I can't really seem to wrap my head around how the PCM data translates to relative volume. I'm also aware of other complicating factors like multiple channels, big endian vs little, etc. Advice on how to map a group of pcm samples to relative volume would be key. Thanks!

  I am setting up a Lotus Notes account to accept emails from a client, and automatically save each email as a plain text file to be processed by another application. So, I'm trying to create my very first Agent in Lotus to automatically export the emails to text. Is there a standard, best practices way to do this? I've created a LotusScript Agent that pretty much works. However, there is a bug - once the Body of the memo exceeds 32K characters, it starts inserting extra CR/LF pairs. I am using Lotus Notes 7.0.3.   I am trying to include a variable in a .ini file setting by surrounding it with curly braces, and Zend is complaining that it cannot parse it properly on Linux. It works properly on Windows, though: welcome_message = Welcome, {0}. • Mirth is Not Picking Up Updated JAR File?

  I have some Mirth code (javascript) that's consuming one of my Java classes (let's call it SimpleClass). It seems that Mirth is not picking up my changes to my class. SimpleClass used to look something like this: public class Simpleclass { public SimpleClass(String one) { // do something with one } } Now it looks like: public class Simpleclass { public SimpleClass(String one, String two) { // store one and two } public void Execute() { // do something with one and two } } When I try and call SimpleClass with two strings, I get the error "Java constructor for SimpleClass with arguments string, string not found." When I try to run Execute, I get an error similar to "TypeError: method Execute not found." Perplexingly, I can still call SimpleClass("one string") to call the one-string constructor (which is now nowhere to be seen in the code). To get my code to work, I build a JAR file using ant, and deploy it to \\lib\custom. I have tried: Copying the new JAR and restarting Mirth while it's live Copying the new JAR after stopping Mirth, then starting Mirth Looking for other copies of my JAR or Mirth installations (there are none) Unzipping and reverse-engineering the JAR (it has the two-constructor code) Hashing the JAR (it matches what I'm building in ant) Restarting my computer (hey, you never know) I'm at a loss. I'm not sure why I'm not seeing the latest code. My channel has very simple Javascript: var sp = new Packages.com.hs.channel.scarborough.ScarboroughParser("one", "two"); I know it's not a configuration error of any kind, since this used to work (and does still work, albeit with the old code -- single-parameter constructor).

• Make seems to think a prerequisite is an intermediate file, removes it

  For starters, this exercise in GNU make was admittedly just that: an exercise rather than a practicality, since a simple bash script would have sufficed. However, it brought up interesting behavior I don't quite understand. I've written a seemingly simple Makefile to handle generation of SSL key/cert pairs as necessary for MySQL. My goal was for make <name> to result in <name>-key.pem, <name>-cert.pem, and any other necessary files (specifically, the CA pair if any of it is missing or needs updating, which leads into another interesting follow-up exercise of handling reverse deps to reissue any certs that had been signed by a missing/updated CA cert). After executing all rules as expected, make seems to be too aggressive at identifying intermediate files for removal; it removes a file I thought would be "safe" since it should have been generated as a prereq to the main rule I'm invoking. (Humbly translated, I likely have misinterpreted make's documented behavior to suit my expectation, but don't understand how. ;-) Edited (thanks, Chris!) Adding %-cert.pem to .PRECIOUS does, of course, prevent the deletion. (I had been using the wrong syntax.) • How to propagate .java file change to .class under eclipse, tomcat & stripes

  Hi, i'm new to java and i got some problems. i'm developping a web application using the framework stripes on tomcat 6.0. I'm working with eclipse EE on windows. i successfully managed to get the stripes example application (called Bugzooky) up and running on my tomcat server. I imported the .war file and stripes libs in Eclipse. Here is the stripes archive containing the examples and libs But now i'm trying to change the example source files to learn how does it work. but whatever the modification made to the source files "WebContent/WEB-INF/src/*.java", nothing change! even after restarting the server. i noticed that the classes are compiled into .class files in the "ImportedClasses" folder, and tomcat always use these files, they are never updated, and if i removed one of them, the application just don't start. it look like my source files don't exists! I also tried to build my webapp from scratch, but when i tried to use the features used in the example files (like SecurityFilter.java): import javax.servlet.Filter; import javax.servlet.FilterChain; import javax.servlet.FilterConfig; import ... It ends up with plenty of: the import javax.servlet.Filter cannot be resolved I checked the Librairies and it look like i'm using exactly the same as the example. It's probably something i didn't understood about java but i googled 100 times yesterday, and i can't find the solution (i probably didn't search the right place because i don't really understand my problem). I hope you'll be able to help me.

• Policy file error while loading images form facebook

  Hi, I making a game leaderboard on facebook. I'm not using connect but working inside the canvas. When I try to load the images from facebook it gives me the following error. SecurityError: Error #2122: Security sandbox violation: Loader.content: http://test cannot access http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/v22941/254/15/q652310588_2173.jpg A policy file is required, but the checkPolicyFile flag was not set when this media was loaded. • Playing a .TS file on iOS

  We're working with some hardware that produces files in the .TS format, and we'd like to play them on an iOS device. (The files are internally consistent with what iOS supports--MPEG-4 video, AAC audio.) We've been investigating three options so far: Roll our own integrated HTTP Live Streaming server and serve up a faux M3U8 playlist from within the app. This... doesn't seem to want to play nice, and we've had mixed luck actually getting the .TS files to play on devices. Unwrap the MPEG-4 and AAC data from the TS file and re-wrap it as MP4. This, I'm told, is exceedingly difficult to do, and I haven't found anything useful online that could shed light on how to do it. We've got code in the pipeline to do it but it won't be ready until long after we need it. If we could do it, I could easily subclass NSURLProtocol and have it working within a matter of hours minutes. Use FFmpeg to implement option #2. FFmpeg seems like a possible solution but it isn't configured to build for iOS and I don't have the background to get it working (whereas the rest of our engineers don't have the Apple background needed.) I think #2 is our best bet, but as I don't know the ins and outs of MPEG-2 TS and MPEG-4, I don't have the ability to put it together myself. Does anybody have any insight into this problem? Perhaps some experience playing local TS files on iOS, or some tips on converting from TS to MP4?

• Forcing file redirection on x64 for a 32-bit application

  The silent redirection of 64-bit system files to their 32-bit equivalents can be turned off and reverted with Wow64DisableWow64FsRedirection and Wow64RevertWow64FsRedirection. We use this for certain file identity checks in our application. The problem is that in performing some of theses tasks, we might call a framework or Windows API in a DLL that has not yet been loaded. If redirection is enabled at that time, the wrong version of the dll may be loaded resulting in a XXX is not a valid Win32 application error. I've identified the few API calls in question and what I'd like to do force the redirection on for the duration of that call then revert it back - just the opposite of the provided Win32 APIs. Unfortunately these calls do not provide any sort of WOW64 compatibility flag like some of the registry methods do. The obvious alternative is to use Wow64EnableWow64FsRedirection, pass TRUE for Wow64FsEanbledRedirection. However there are a variety of warnings about the use of this method and a note that it is not compatible with Disable/Revert combo methods that have replaced it. Is there a safe way to force redirection on for a give Win32 call? The docs state the redirection is thread specific so I've considered spinning up a new thread for the specific call with appropriate locks and waits, but I was hoping for a simpler solution.

• Expression Blend doesn't recognize comand objects declared in code behind file

  I have a WPF UserControl. The code behind file declares some RoutedUICommand objects which are referenced in the XAML. The application builds and runs just fine. However Expression Blend 3 cannot load the XAML in the designer and gives errors like this one: The member "ResetCameraComand" is not recognized or accessible. The class and the member are both public. Building and rebuilding the project in Blend and restarting Blend hasn't helped. Any ideas what the problem is?
