• MYSQL JOIN WHERE ISSUES - need some kind of if condition

  Hi Well this will be hard to explain but ill do my best The thing is i have 4 tables all with a specific column to relate to eachother. 1 table with users(agent_users) , 1 with working hours(agent_pers), 1 with sold items(agent_stat),1 with project(agent_pro) the user and the project table is irrelevant in the issue at hand but to give you a better understanding why certain tables is included in my query i decided to still mention them =) The thing is that I use 2 pages to insert data to the working hour and the sold items during that time tables, then i have a third page to summarize everything for current month, the query for that is as following: SELECT *, SUM(sv_p_kom),SUM(sv_p_gick),SUM(sv_p_lunch) FROM (( agent_users LEFT JOIN agent_pers ON agent_users.sv_aid = agent_pers.sv_p_uid) LEFT JOIN agent_stat ON agent_pers.sv_p_uid = agent_stat.sv_s_uid) LEFT JOIN agent_pro ON agent_pers.sv_p_pid=agent_pro.p_id WHERE MONTH(agent_pers.sv_p_datum) =7 GROUP BY sv_aname so the problem is now that i dont want sold items from previous months to get included in the data received, i know i could solve that by simple adding in the WHERE part MONTH(agent_stat.sv_s_datum) =7 but then if no items been sold that month no data at all will show up not the time or anything. Any aid on how i could solve this is greatly appreciated. if there's something that's not so clear dont hesitate to ask and ill try my best to answer. after all my english isn't the best out there :P regards breezer

• Creating a Linq->HQL provider

  Hi all, I have a client application that connects to a server. The server uses hibernate for persistence and querying so it has a set of annotated hibernate objects for persistence. The client sends HQL queries to the server and gets responses back. The client has an auto-generated set of objects that match the server hibernate objects for query results and basic persistence. I would like to support using Linq to query as well as Hql as it makes the queries typesafe and quicker to build (no more typos in HQL string queries). I've looked around at the following but I can't see how to get them to fit with what I have. NHibernate's Linq provider - requires using NHibernate ISession and ISessionFactory, which I don't have LinqExtender - requires a lot of annotations on the objects and extending a base type, too invasive What I really want is something that will generate give me a nice easy to process structure to build the HQL queries from. I've read most of a 15 page article written by one of the C# developers on how to create custom providers and it's pretty fraught, mainly because of the complexity of the expression tree. Can anyone suggest an approach for implementing Linq - HQL translation? Perhaps a library that will the cleanup of the expression tree into something more SQL/HQLish. I would like to support select/from/where/group by/order by/joins. Not too worried about subqueries.

  I'm developing an application, which is looking for optimal route and timetable in public transport. I have some experience about Doctrine1, but it's my first time with Doctrine2. There is soem new fields to describe relations (mappedBy and inversedBy) and also some new ways of mapping.   I am developing reporting application in Excel/vba 2003. VBA code sends search query to database and gets the data through recordset. It will then be copied to one of excel sheet. The rertrieved data looks like as shown below. ProductID--|---DateProcessed--|----State----- 1................|.. 1/1/2010..............|.....Picked Up 1................|.. 1/1/2010..............|.....Forward To Approver 1................|.. 1/2/2010..............|.....Approver Picked Up 1................|.. 1/3/2010..............|.....Approval Completed 2................|.. 1/1/2010..............|.....Picked Up 3................|.. 1/2/2010..............|.....Picked Up 3................|.. 1/2/2010..............|.....Forward To Approver The problem is data retrieved from search query is so huge that it goes above the excel row limit (65536 rows in excel 2003). So I want to split this data into two excel sheets. While spliting the data I want to ensure that the data for same product shoud remain in one sheet. For example, if the last record in the above result set is 65537th record then I also want to move all records for product 3 into new sheet. So sheet1 will contain records for product id 1 and 2 with total records = 65534. Sheet 2 will cotain records for product id 3 - with total records = 2. How can I acheive this in vba? If it is not possible, is there any alternative solution ? Thanks in Advance !

  Hey everyone, I'm trying to harden some of my PHP code and use mysqli prepared statements to better validate user input and prevent injection attacks. I switched away from mysqli_real_escape_string as it does not escape % and _. However, when I create my query as a mysqli prepared statement, the same flaw is still present. The query pulls a users salt value based on their username. I'd do something similar for passwords and other lookups. • Interesting LinqToSql behaviour

  We have a database table that stores the location of some wave files plus related meta data. There is a foreign key (employeeid) on the table that links to an employee table. However not all wav files relate to an employee, for these records employeeid is null. We are using LinqToSQl to access the database, the query to pull out all non employee related wav file records is as follows: var results = from Wavs in db.WaveFiles where Wavs.employeeid == null; Except this returns no records, despite the fact that there are records where employeeid is null. On profiling sql server i discovered the reason no records are returned is because LinqToSQl is turning it into SQL that looks very much like: SELECT Field1, Field2 //etc FROM WaveFiles WHERE 1=0 Obviously this returns no rows. However if I go into the DBML designer and remove the association and save. All of a sudden the exact same LINQ query turns into SELECT Field1, Field2 //etc FROM WaveFiles WHERE EmployeeID IS NULL I.e. if there is an association then LinqToSql assumes that all records have a value for the foreign key (even though it is nullable and the property appears as a nullable int on the WaveFile entity) and as such deliverately constructs a where clause that will return no records. Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the association in LinqToSQL but stop this behaviour. A workaround i can think of quickly is to have a calculated field called IsSystemFile and set it to 1 if employeeid is null and 0 otherwise. However this seems like a bit of a hack to work around strange behaviour of LinqToSQl and i would rather do something in the DBML file or define something on the foreign key constraint that will prevent this behaviour.

  I have a view model (below). public class TopicsViewModel { public Topic Topic { get; set; } public Reply LastReply { get; set; } } I want to populate an IQueryable<TopicsViewModel> with values from my IQueryable<Topic> collection and IQueryable<Reply> collection. I do not want to use the attached entity collection (i.e. Topic.Replies) because I only want the last reply for that topic and doing Topic.Replies.Last() loads the entire entity collection in memory and then grabs the last one in the list. I am trying to stay in IQueryable so that the query is executed in the database. I also don't want to foreach through topics and query replyRepository.Replies because looping through IQueryable<Topic> will start the lazy loading. I'd prefer to build one expression and have all the leg work done in the lower layers. I have the following: IQueryable<TopicsViewModel> topicsViewModel = from x in topicRepository.Topics from y in replyRepository.Replies where y.TopicID == x.TopicID orderby y.PostedDate ascending select new TopicsViewModel { Topic = x, LastReply = y }; But this isn't working. Any ideas how I can populate an IQueryable or IEnumerable of TopicsViewModel so that it queries the database and grabs topics and that topic's last reply? I am trying really hard to avoid grabbing all replies related to that topic. I only want to grab the last reply. Thank you for any insight you have to offer.

• Serializable object in intent returning as String

  In my application, I am trying to pass a serializable object through an intent to another activity. The intent is not entirely created by me, it is created and passed through a search suggestion. In the content provider for the search suggestion, the object is created and placed in the SUGGEST_COLUMN_INTENT_EXTRA_DATA column of the MatrixCursor. However, when in the receiving activity I call getIntent().getSerializableExtra(SearchManager.EXTRA_DATA_KEY), the returned object is of type String and I cannot cast it into the original object class. I tried making a parcelable wrapper for my object that calls out.writeSerializable(...) and use that instead but the same thing happened. The string that is returned is like a generic Object toString(), i.e. com.foo.yak.MyAwesomeClass@4350058, so I'm assuming that toString() is being called somewhere where I have no control. Hopefully I'm just missing something simple. Thanks for the help! I did the following: create or replace type lname_row as object ( house varchar2(30) lname varchar2(30), fname varchar2(30), MI char(1), fullname VARCHAR2(63), dob DATE ) create or replace type lname_exact as table of lname_row Now in the SP: type lname_exact is table of <what_table_should_i_put_here>%rowtype; tab_a_recs lname_exact; In the above I am not sure what table to put as my query has nested subqueries. query in the SP: (I am trying this for sample purpose to see if it works) select lname_row('', '', '', '', '', '', sysdate) bulk collect into tab_a_recs from table_1; I am getting errors like : ORA-00913: too many values I am really confused and stuck with this :(

  I'm trying to use reflection to automatically test that all my linq2sql entities match the test database. If I debug the code, "table" is properly instantiated, and if I expand the results view in the debugger I can see actual data. BUT, I can't figure out how to get my code to actually query that table. I'd really like to just be able to do table.FirstOrDefault() to get the top row out of each table and make sure the SQL fetch doesn't fail. But I cant cast that table to be anything I can query. Any suggestions on how I can make this queryable? Just the ability to call .Count() would be enough for me to ensure the entities don't have anything that doesn't match the table columns.
