  • Cannot perform an ORDERBY against my EF4 data

    I have a query hitting EF4 using STEs and I'm having an issue with user-defined sorting. In debugging this, I have removed the dynamic sorting and am hard-coding it and I still have the issue. If I swap/uncomment the var results = xxx lines in GetMyBusinesses(), my results are not sorted any differently - they are always sorting it ascendingly.     I'm pretty new to objective-C (and C in general) and iPhone development and am coming from the java island, so there are some fundamentals that are quite tough to learn for me. I'm diving right into iOS5 and want to use storyboards. For now I am trying to setup a list in a UITableViewController that will be filled with values returned by a web service in the future. For now, I just want to generate some mock objects and show their names in the list to be able to proceed.   • Scalably processing large amount of comlpicated database data in PHP, many times a day.

    I'm soon to be working on a project that poses a problem for me. It's going to require, at regular intervals throughout the day, processing tens of thousands of records, potentially over a million. Processing is going to involve several (potentially complicated) formulas and the generation of several random factors, writing some new data to a separate table, and updating the original records with some results. This needs to occur for all records, ideally, every three hours. Each new user to the site will be adding between 50 and 500 records that need to be processed in such a fashion, so the number will not be steady. The code hasn't been written, yet, as I'm still in the design process, mostly because of this issue. I know I'm going to need to use cron jobs, but I'm concerned that processing records of this size may cause the site to freeze up, perform slowly, or just piss off my hosting company every three hours. I'd like to know if anyone has any experience or tips on similar subjects? I've never worked at this magnitude before, and for all I know, this will be trivial to the server and not pose much of an issue. As long as ALL records are processed before the next three hour period occurs, I don't care if they aren't processed simultaneously (though, ideally, all records belonging to a specific user should be processed in the same batch), so I've been wondering if I should process in batches every 5 minutes, 15 minutes, hour, whatever works, and how best to approach this (and make it scalable in a way that is fair to all users)?

  • I always get stuck here... Divs not behaving properly (alignment issues)

    Hi, I don't know why, after encountering this problem dozens of times, the answer always seems different and I can't seem to work my way through the problem-solving process, but here I am again with misaligned divs. I've got 3rows encasing columns. each row is to have (at least) 3 columns (and probably some nested divs down the line, but I'm not even there yet). I'm trying to make a fluid chunk in the center ultimately, with pretty corners. However, my top row is already showing signs of misbehaving. .O Please help with my silly questions!   • Android Bluetooth syncing

    I am connecting to a bluetooth enabled camera, and I am able to connect using the methods found in the BluetoothChat example. I need to send commands to the camera. The issue is that I also need to get a response BACK from the camera after I send the command in the first place. So basically I need to write a command and receive a response. However, the thing is that the commands sometimes don't generate a response. Even the documentation on the camera says that you "have to send the sync command as many as 25 times on power up before you will get a response." So I cannot just write a command and wait for a response, as the "read" function blocks the thread. If I have the read function in another thread, like the bluetooth chat example, there seems to be sync issues, i.e., if I issue a write command, how can I know that it is reading if that is happening in another thread? I did set a global variable to check for, but this seems "iffy" at best. So basically I need to write to the bluetooth and then attempt to read from it. However, I need to let that read timeout and if I haven't received a response, I need to write again until I get a response (or until it's tried a set number of times). I don't need the read function to be going all the time in the background. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your time.

    I have a base class for some plugin-style stuff, and there are some methods that are absolutely required to be implemented. I currently declare those in the base class as virtual, for example public virtual void Save { throw new NotImplementedException(); } and in the descendand I have a public override void Save() { //do stuff } Is it a good practice to throw a NotImplementedException there? The descendand classes could for example be the modules for handling different file formats. Thanks

    I want to be able to download a page and all of its associated resources (images, style sheets, script files, etc) using Python. I am (somewhat) familiar with urllib2 and know how to download individual urls, but before I go and start hacking at BeautifulSoup + urllib2 I wanted to be sure that there wasn't already a Python equivalent to "wget --page-requisites http://www.google.com". Specifically I am interested in gathering statistical information about how long it takes to download an entire web page, including all resources. Thanks Mark

    We have developed a ASP.NET 3.5 web application with Web Server 2008 and has implemented a custom authentication solution using active directory as the credentials store. Our front end application uses a normal login form to capture the user name and password and leverages the Win32 LogonUser method to authenticate the user’s credentials. When we are calling the LogonUser method, we are using the LOGON32_LOGON_NETWORK as the logon type. The issue we have found is that user profile folders are being created under the C:\Users folder of the web server. The folder seems to be created when a new user who has never logged on before is logging in for the first time. As the number of new users logging into the application grows, disk space is shrinking due to the large number of new user folders getting created. I need to get the token back after the authentication (authenticated \ password locked \ wrong password ) its futher use and based on logic showing different web pages Has anyone seen this behavior with the Win32 LogonUser method? Please answer the following issue: Is it possible to disable this behavior to create the folder as taking 2.78 MB of space for every new user and it eating my disck space? I have tried LOGON32_LOGON_BATCH but it was giving an error 1385 in authentication user. For any solution related to LOGON32_LOGON_BATCH, can you please confirm if that will stop creating the folders at location C:\users. Also for any possible solution I need either I am able to disable the folder to be created at C:\user or Any other option to authenticated user which will not creat folders.

  • Integrated Security on Reporting Services XML Datasource

    Hey all, I am working on setting up my report server to use a web service as an XML datasource. I seem to be having authentication issues between the web service and the report with I choose to use Integrated security. Here's what I have: 1) I have a website w/ an exposed service. This website is configured to run ONLY on Integrated Security. This means that we have all other modes turned off AND Enabled anonymous access turned off under directory security. 2) Within the Web.config of the website, I have the authentication mode set to Windows. 3) I have the report datasource set to being an XML data source. I have the correct URL to the service and have it set to Windows Integrated Security. Since I am making a hop from the Browser to the Reporting Server to the Web Service, I wonder if I am having an issue w/ Kerberos, but I am not sure. When I try to access the service, I get a 401 error.   • Unable to Get values from Web Form to a PHP Class to Display

    I am having troubles getting the value from my variables submitted via a web form using a PHP class file. Here is my structure of the web page: Order Form Page Process.php Page Book.php Page I can easily get the user data entered (on Order Form Page), process, and display it on the Process.php page. The issue is that I must create a Book class and print the details of the data using the Book class. I have an empty constructor printing out "created" so I know my constructor is being called. I also am able to print the word "title" so I know I can print to the screen by using the Book class. My issue is that I can't get values in my variables in the Book class. Here is my variable declaration: private $title; Here is my printDetails function: public function printDetails () { echo "Title: " . $this->title . "<br />"; } Here is my new instance of the book class: $bookNow = new book; Here are my get and set functions: function __getTitle($title) { return $this->$title; } function __setTitle($title,$value) { $this->$title = $value; } I do have four other variables that I'm looking to display as well. Each of those have their own variable declaration, a line in printDetails, and their own setter and getter. Lastly, I also have a call to the Book class in my process PHP. It looks like this: function __autoload($book) { include $book . '.php'; } $bookNow = new book(); Any help, much appreciated. It must be something so very small (I'm hoping).

Does anyone know why it might not be refreshed the first time? Is this a timing issue?

  • How do i know in the detail view what cell in tableview was selected?

    how can i know what tableview cell was selected?(being in the detail view) The problem is that. I have an table view controller. Here are parsed from the internet entries to the table. So it's a dynamic tabe view that loads from internet. I will not know how many entries will be in the table so i will not know what details view to call when i click a row. So i have maked one view. This view contains an calendar. On this calendar(wich is the detail iew) i will parse data from internet depending on the selected row. For exemple: i have table: entry 1, entry 2,entry 3,entry 4 When i click entry 2 i need to call a php with the argument entry 2. The php will know what entry on the table i have selected and will generate me the correct xml that i will parse.
