  • How to organize a ASP.NET MVC solution (DDD)

    - by vandalo
Hello everyone. I am trying to start a new project (asp.net MVC) and I would like to apply some DDD rules I've learned in these last few months. I don't know how to organize my solution though. I would like to use Nhibernate but I don't want to use Fluent Nhibernate cause it must be something like an experiment. I've seen some examples where people keep everything in the same project. Some others tend to create a different project for everything. Do you think I should differentiate the model and the repository or put it in the same project? If someone has some links to articles etc it would be appreciated. thanks Alberto

  • NotSupportedException on IQuery's Enumerable when using statelesssession

    - by user57555
when trying to use the Enumerable method on a named query, with a Stateless session, as shown in the example at: http://www.nhforge.org/doc/nh/en/#batch-statelesssession i am seeing a NotSupportedException. the stack trace is as below: System.NotSupportedException: Specified method is not supported. at NHibernate.Impl.StatelessSessionImpl.Enumerable(String query, QueryParameters parameters) at NHibernate.Impl.QueryImpl.Enumerable() here is a snippet of my code: IStatelessSession statelessSession = sessionFactory.OpenStatelessSession(); var fileLines = statelessSession.GetNamedQuery("GetLinesByFileId") .SetInt32("FileIdInput", fileId).Enumerable<FileLineEntity>(); the named query, GetLinesByFileId is defined in the hbm as below: <query name="GetLinesByFileId" cacheable="false" read-only="true"> <![CDATA[ from FileLineEntity lineItem where lineItem.FileId=:FileIdInput ]]> </query> any suggestions on what i maybe missing here?

  • Problems using FluentNHibernate + SQLite with .NET4?

    - by stiank81
I have a WPF application running with VS2010 .Net3.5 using Nhibernate with FluentNHibernate + SQLite, and all works fine. Now I want to change to use .Net4, but this has turned into a more painful experience then I expected.. When setting up the connection a FluentConfigurationException is thrown from FluentConfiguration.BuildConfiguration saying: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more details. The inner exception gives us more information: Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver, NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4. It has an InnerException again: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Which again has an InnerException: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Now - to me it sounds like it doesn't find System.Data.SQLite.dll, but I can't understand this. Everywhere this is referenced I have "Copy Local", and I have verified that it is in every build folder for projects using SQLite. I have also copied it manually to every Debug folder of the solution - without luck. Notes: This is exactly the same code that worked just fine before I upgraded to .Net4. I did see some x64 x86 mismatch problems earlier, but I have switched to use x86 as the target platform and for all referenced dlls. I have verified that all files in the Debug-folder are x86. I have tried the precompiled Fluent dlls, I have tried compiling myself, and I have compiled my own version of Fluent using .Net4. I see that there are also others that have seen this problem, but I haven't really seen any solution yet. After @devio's answer I tried adding a reference to the SQLite dll. This didn't change anything, but I hope I made it right though.. This is what I added to the root node of the app.config file: <runtime> <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"> <qualifyAssembly partialName="System.Data.SQLite" fullName="System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.60.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=db937bc2d44ff139" /> </assemblyBinding> </runtime> Anyone out there using Fluent with .Net4 and SQLite successfully? Help! I'm lost...

  • Where should Nhibernate IPostInsertEventListener go in the 3 tier architecture

    - by Quintin Par
I have a IPostInsertEventListener implementation like public class NHibernateEventListener : IPostInsertEventListener, IPostUpdateEventListener which catches some entity inserts and does an additional insert to another table for ETL. Essentially it requires references to the Nhibernate, Domain entity and Repository<> Now where do I go about adding this class? If I add it to ApplicationServices I’ll end up referencing Nhibernate at that layer. If I add this to the Data layer, I’ll have to reference Domain (circular). How do I go implementing this class with S#arp principles? Any thoughts?

  • Spring.NET. How actively is it being developed/supported?

    - by Bubba88
I've made my choice for the developement components on the .NET platform: Spring.NET for IoC and NHibernate for data access. But how safe is it? I've heard here on SO (don't remember which post exactly) that Spring.NET is on its way down, cause for example the Java original version is developed by a large number of people; but (they say that) the sole person behind the .NET version is Mr. Mark Pollack. Is that so? And, if so, does it still make sense to count on Spring.NET for my production applications? if you have similar information about NHibernate, I'll appreciate it; though it seems that the latter is actively supported.

  • Access one database from multiple ORMs :: Caching issue

    - by kaptan
I know this is not a good idea and the best would be to let the applications talk Web Services. But I have a situation where the legacy application is accessing a database with an ORM and I need to access the same database from the new .net application using Fluent nHibernate. So the question is what problems this will make and how to solve them? I guess the main issue is the caching. I need to disable the caching on one of the applications (which would be the new app). So how can I disable caching in nHibernate? Is there anything else that should be careful about?

  • Select columns from join table only without requiring a join

    - by Kent Boogaart
Given these tables: create table Orders ( Id INT IDENTITY NOT NULL, primary key (Id) ) create table Items ( Id INT IDENTITY NOT NULL, primary key (Id) ) create table OrdersItems ( OrderId INT not null, ItemId INT not null, primary key (OrderId, ItemId) ) Is it possible to use HQL/criteria API to contruct a query that results in the following SQL: SELECT [OrderId], [ItemId] FROM [OrdersItems] I've tried both of these approaches: var hqlResults = session .CreateQuery("select order.id, item.id from Order order inner join order.Items item") .List(); var criteriaResults = session .CreateCriteria<Order>() .CreateAlias("Items", "item", NHibernate.SqlCommand.JoinType.None) .SetProjection(Projections.Property("id"), Projections.Property("item.id")) .List(); But both approaches insist on generating a join (or fail because the join isn't present, in using criteria), resulting in SQL such as: select order.Id, item.Id from Orders order inner join OrdersItems ordersItems on order.Id = ordersItems.ArticleId inner join Items item on ordersItems.CategoryId = item.Id Is there any way to have NHibernate generate a query that selects columns only from the join table, without requiring a join?

  • Getting error "Association references unmapped class" when using interfaces in model

    - by Bjarke
    I'm trying to use the automap functionality in fluent to generate a DDL for the following model and program, but somehow I keep getting the error "Association references unmapped class: IRole" when I call the GenerateSchemaCreationScript method in NHibernate. When I replace the type of the ILists with the implementation of the interfaces (User and Role) everything works fine. What am I doing wrong here? How can I make fluent use the implemented versions of IUser and IRole as defined in Unity? public interface IRole { string Title { get; set; } IList<IUser> Users { get; set; } } public interface IUser { string Email { get; set; } IList<IRole> Roles { get; set; } } public class Role : IRole { public virtual string Title { get; set; } public virtual IList<IUser> Users { get; set; } } public class User : IUser { public virtual string Email { get; set; } public virtual IList<IRole> Roles { get; set; } } I use the following program to generate the DDL using the GenerateSchemaCreationScript in NHibernate: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var ddl = new NHibernateSessionManager(); ddl.BuildConfiguration(); } } public class NHibernateSessionManager { private ISessionFactory _sessionFactory; private static IUnityContainer _container; private static void InitContainer() { _container = new UnityContainer(); _container.RegisterType(typeof(IUser), typeof(User)); _container.RegisterType(typeof(IRole), typeof(Role)); } public ISessionFactory BuildConfiguration() { InitContainer(); return Fluently.Configure().Database(MsSqlConfiguration.MsSql2008 .ConnectionString("ConnectionString")) .Mappings(m => m.AutoMappings.Add( AutoMap.AssemblyOf<IUser>())) .ExposeConfiguration(BuildSchema) .BuildSessionFactory(); } private void BuildSchema(Configuration cfg) { var ddl = cfg.GenerateSchemaCreationScript(new NHibernate.Dialect.MsSql2008Dialect()); System.IO.File.WriteAllLines("Filename", ddl); } }

  • NHibernate on WCF Dependency Injection

    - by Diego Dias
Hi, I would like of inject a wrapper of my sessionfactory in my wcf service, but my service is in other server and I want set nhibernate in my site asp.net. I have a interface as: public interface ISessionBuilder { ISession Current{get;}; void Close(); } public class SessionBuilder : ISessionBuilder { static SessionBuilder() { Initialize(); } public ISession Current{ get; private set; } public void Close() { //aqui eu fecho a session } private static void Initialize() { //aqui eu configuro o NHibernate } } I want to be able of set SessionBuilder in the site asp.net and inject this implementation in my wcf Service where I have my repositories which will consume SessionBuilder to query my database. Anyone have some sugestion?

  • Making OR/M loosely coupled and abstracted away from other layers.

    - by Genuine
Hi all. In an n-tier architecture, the best place to put an object-relational mapping (OR/M) code is in the data access layer. For example, database queries and updates can be delegated to a tool like NHibernate. Yet, I'd like to keep all references to NHibernate within the data access layer and abstract dependencies away from the layers below or above it. That way, I can swap or plug in another OR/M tool (e.g. Entity Framework) or some approach (e.g. plain vanilla stored procedure calls, mock objects) without causing compile-time errors or a major overhaul of the entire application. Testability is an added bonus. Could someone please suggest a wrapper (i.e. an interface or base class) or approach that would keep OR/M loosely coupled and contained in 1 layer? Or point me to resources that would help? Thanks.

  • Interface -> Entity Mapping

    - by KiD0M4N
Hi guys, Suppose I have a few definitions like so: public interface ICategory { int ID { get; set; } string Name { get; set; } ICategory Parent { get; set; } } public class Category : ICategory { public virtual int ID { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual ICategory Parent { get; set; } } How do I map such a scenario in NHibernate? I am trying to separate the implementation of the DAL. I am learning NHibernate. Regards, Karan

  • How can this be done with (N)Hibernate?

    - by Vilx-
I'm creating a windows forms application with NHibernate. It's an MDI application, so there is no limit to how many forms the user can have open at the same time (probably many). For most forms I want to have an "OK" and a "Cancel" button. Both close the form, but "OK" also saves the modified data to the DB. The forms can be pretty complex, and the modifications are likely to touch a whole graph of objects, adding some, deleting some, and changing some more. It would be good if the changes could be automatically detected and persisted as needed, without the need to manually keep track of each of them. What would be a good way to do this? Extra information: I can make whatever DB schema I want. I'm using MSSQL 2008 and currently have decided for GUID primary keys (with guid.comb generator) and a TIMESTAMP column for optimistic concurrency. I tried to simply set FlushMode of a NHibernate ISession to Never, doing all modifications as needed, and then calling Flush() if the user clicked OK. But that didn't work.

  • Offline Database Write Cache in C#

    - by Todd Gardner
I have a windows service that receives a large amount of data that needs to be transformed and persisted to a database. To ensure that we do not lose data, I want to create a "Write cache" for the data that will continue regardless if the database is online. Once the database becomes available again, I would want it to flush the content of the cache back into the database. I've seen some articles indicating that I might be able to do this with NHibernate, but I haven't found it conclusively. What options exist for this, and is NHibernate the appropriate direction?

  • Is there a non-unique-key sorted list generic collection in C#?

    - by kdt
I'm a bit surprised by System.Collections.Generic.SortedList, in that It requires me to use <key, value> instead of <value>(comparer) It only allows on entry per value These seem quirky in the way I want to use it (although I'm sure they're just right for other situations). Is there another collection that doesn't have these two characteristics?

  • Generic tree implementation in Java

    - by Ivan
Is anyone aware of a generic tree (nodes may have multiple children) implementation for Java? It should come from a well trusted source and must be fully tested. It just doesn't seem right implementing it myself. Almost reminds me of my university years when we were supposed to write all our collections ourselves. EDIT: Found this project on java.net, might be worth looking into.

  • Date Sorting - Latest to Oldest

    - by Erika Szabo
Collections.sort(someList, new Comparator<SomeObject>() { public int compare(final SomeObject object1, final SomeObject object2) { return (object1.getSomeDate()).compareTo(object2.getSomeDate()); }} ); Would it give me the objects with latest dates meaning the list will contain the set of objects with latest date to oldest date?

  • Java: omitting a data member from the equals method.

    - by cchampion
public class GamePiece { public GamePiece(char cLetter, int nPointValue) { m_cLetter=cLetter; m_nPointValue=nPointValue; m_nTurnPlaced=0; //has not been placed on game board yet. } public char GetLetter() {return m_cLetter;} public int GetPointValue() {return m_nPointValue;} public int GetTurnPlaced() {return m_nTurnPlaced;} public void SetTurnPlaced(int nTurnPlaced) { m_nTurnPlaced=nTurnPlaced; } @Override public boolean equals(Object obj) { /*NOTE to keep this shorter I omitted some of the null checking and instanceof stuff. */ GamePiece other = (GamePiece) obj; //not case sensitive, and I don`t think we want it to be here. if(m_cLetter != other.m_cLetter) { return false; } if(m_nPointValue != other.m_nPointValue) { return false; } /* NOTICE! m_nPointValue purposely omitted. It does not affect hashcode or equals */ return true; } @Override public int hashCode() { /* NOTICE! m_nPointValue purposely omitted. It should not affect hashcode or equals */ final int prime = 41; return prime * (prime + m_nPointValue + m_cLetter); } private char m_cLetter; private int m_nPointValue; private int m_nTurnPlaced;//turn which the game piece was placed on the game board. Does not affect equals or has code! } Consider the given piece of code. This object has been immutable until the introduction of the m_nTurnPlaced member (which can be modified by the SetTurnPlaced method, so now GamePiece becomes mutable). GamePiece is used in an ArrayList, I call contains and remove methods which both rely on the equals method to be implemented. My question is this, is it ok or common practice in Java for some members to not affect equals and hashcode? How will this affect its use in my ArrayList? What type of java Collections would it NOT be safe to use this object now that it is mutable? I've been told that you're not supposed to override equals on mutable objects because it causes some collections to behave "strangely" (I read that somewhere in the java documentation).

  • What is the minimum interface that has the Count property in .Net

    - by SoMoS
Hello, I need to change a method that has one parameter that takes a serie of objects. I need to find the lowest Interface (in inheritance tree) that has the Count property. Until now I was using the IEnumerable but as this has not Count I need to change it to the wider interface possible so the method can work with the biggest number of types of series (collections, lists, arrays, etc). Thanks in advance.

  • Concurrent Linked HashMap java

    - by Nilesh
Please help me use/create Concurrent LinkedHashMap. As per my belief, if I use Collections.synchronizedMap(), I would have to use synchronized blocks for getter/setter. If I use ConcurrentSkipListMap, is there any way to implement a Comparator to store sequentially. I would like to use java's built in instead of third party packages. Thanks

  • Why does sorted list have to have a key value pair?

    - by clawson
If I just want a sorted list of just dates, integers, or doubles is it really necessary to have to define a SortedList(of Integer, Integer)? Seems intriguing to me, but may just be trival. I'd prefer just to use a SortedList(of Integer). (This question is in relation to the .Net generic collections)
