  • Inserting Records in Ascending Order function- C homework assignment

    Good day, Stack Overflow. I have a homework assignment that I'm working on this weekend that I'm having a bit of a problem with. We have a struct "Record" (which contains information about cars for a dealership) that gets placed in a particular spot in a linked list according to 1) its make and 2) according to its model year. This is done when initially building the list, when a "int insertRecordInAscendingOrder" function is called in Main. In "insertRecordInAscendingOrder", a third function, "createRecord" is called, where the linked list is created. The function then goes to the function "compareCars" to determine what elements get put where. Depending on the value returned by this function, insertRecordInAscendingOrder then places the record where it belongs. The list is then printed out. There's more to the assignment, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Ideally, and for the assignment to be considered correct, the linked list must be ordered as: Chevrolet 2012 25 Chevrolet 2013 10 Ford 2010 5 Ford 2011 3 Ford 2012 15 Honda 2011 9 Honda 2012 3 Honda 2013 12 Toyota 2009 2 Toyota 2011 7 Toyota 2013 20 from the a text file that has the data ordered the following way: Ford 2012 15 Ford 2011 3 Ford 2010 5 Toyota 2011 7 Toyota 2012 20 Toyota 2009 2 Honda 2011 9 Honda 2012 3 Honda 2013 12 Chevrolet 2013 10 Chevrolet 2012 25 Notice that the alphabetical order of the "make" field takes precedence, then, the model year is arranged from oldest to newest. Here's the code. As you'll notice, I included a printList call at each instance of the insertion of a node. This way, you can see just what is happening when the nodes are being put in "order". It is in ANSI C99.   • How do I record audio through M-Audio Keystudio?

    Hi, I'm trying to get my M-Audio Keystudio (which has an audio input as well as the keyboard) to record audio to Audacity. I'm in Ubuntu 10.10. When I look at the Sound Preferences I can select "M-Audio RunTime DFU Analog Stereo" as my input device. However, when I try to record in Audacity, Audacity remains frozen. The program seems to be running and recording, but the recording cursor won't advance. If I reset the audio input to the internal sound card, recording works normally. Any ideas what to look for?

  • Set modified date = created date or null on record creation?

    I've been following the convention of adding created and modified columns to most of my database tables. I also have been leaving the modified column as null on record creation and only setting a value on actual modification. The other alternative is to set the modified date to be equal to created date on record creation. I've been doing it the former way but I recent ran into one con which is seriously making me think of switching. I needed to set a database cache dependency to find out if any existing data has been changed or new data added. Instead of being able to do the following: SELECT MAX(modified) FROM customer I have to do this: SELECT GREATEST(MAX(created), MAX(modified)) FROM customer The negative being that it's a more complicated query and slower. Another thing is in file systems I believe they usually use the second convention of setting modified date = created date on creation. What are the pros and cons of the different methods? That is, what are the issues to consider?

I've searched Google for information on network solutions and SPF records but all the results have to do with "how to set up an SPF record" - which I understand how to do. The problem is that I can't find any information about what SPF records to use for network solutions hosted e-mail. I even tried lookup up spf records on networksolutions.com but it appears there are none. Where can I find SPF record information for Network Solution hosted email?

    Suppose you have the following... An ASP.NET web application that calls a stored procedure to delete a record. The table has a trigger on it that will insert an audit entry each time a record is deleted. I want to be able to record in the audit entry the username of who deleted the record. What would be the best way to go about achieving this? I know I could remove the trigger and have the delete stored procedure insert the audit entry prior to deleting but are there any other recommeded alternative? If a username was passed as a parameter to the delete stored procedure, is there anyway to get this value in the trigger that's excuted when the record is deleted? I'm just throwing this out there...

//rootElement.XPathSelectElement(xPathQuery) = parentElement; } these 2 functions i have used to update xml and to get data from xml and fill into controls. but for the tags where there are multiple records... i am not able to find any solution /control using which i an do it easily. coz my field's value is in attribute named "Value" when in the examples i saw its between opening and closing tag.. i have 2 methods to do so. 1 . i make one page to edit a single record and pass id of record to that page on editing. open the page in iframe on same page to edit and in page_load get data from database for id passed and fill it in control. 2 . i store xml on server as physical file and use it in page i opened in iframe to edit the record. so i am confused... can anybody please guide me that what shpould i do to let user provide interface to edit this xml data/user profile ?

  • Sending a byte array from PHP to WCF problem

    Hi I have this problem: I have to send a byte array (encoded photo) from my PHP client to the WCF host. when I do a var_dump() on my array in PHP I get an array[2839] which is ok but on the server side when i debug I see that received array is only byte[5]...any idea how I can fix it?     I plan on doing a little benchmarking around this question, myself. But I thought it would be good to get some initial feedback from "the community". Has anyone out there done any analysis regarding the pros and cons of these two technologies? My thoughts: Opening and closing TCP/IP connections for web service calls is relatively expensive compared to persistent connections. Dealing with intermittent connection errors and state, etc... would be easier with a web service based framework. You don't see World of Warcraft using web services. One question that I can't seem to find much of answer for anywhere (even on here)... are the limits on the # of persistent connections a single network card can support, etc?

  • Need some help/advice on WCF Per-Call Service and NServiceBus interop.

    I have WCF Per-Call service wich provides data for clients and at the same time is integrated with NServiceBus. All statefull objects are stored in UnityContainer wich is integrated into custom service host. NServiceBus is configured in service host and uses same container as service instances. Every client has its own instance context(described by Juval Lowy in his book in chapter about Durable Services). If i need to send request over bus I just use some kind of dispatcher and wait response using Thread.Sleep().Since services are per-call this is ok afaik. But I am confused a bit about messages from bus, that service must handle and provide them to clients. For some data like stock quotes I just update some kind of statefull object and and then, when clients invoke GetQuotesData() just provide data from this object. But there are numerous service messages like new quote added and etc. At this moment I have an idea to implement something like "Postman daemon" =)) and store this type of messages in instance context. Then client will invoke "GetMail()",recieve those messages and parse them. Problem is that NServiceBus messages are "Interface based" and I cant pass them over WCF, so I need to convert them to types derieved from some abstract class. Dunno what is best way to handle this situation. Will be very gratefull for any advice on this. Thanks in advance.
