  • New Bluetooth API question

    I have written a small app that puts my bluetooth in discoverable mode for a long time (G1 - API 1.6). I use that along with small program on windows to lock/unlock the computer if the phone is close by. Recently i try to port this app to my nexus one but it seems like i have to pop up the message every 300s to enable device to go to discoverable mode. does anyone know how i can suppress that? I'm ok with saying ok for the first time but not every 300s :)

When audio session is set to PlayAndRecord, sounds become quiet in comparison with the same sounds with the SoloAmbient category. Is there any way to make sound louder using PlayAndRecord?

    I was wondering if Apple allowed you to access the MPMediaItem's raw data as an NSData object. If you can, thats great and I would like to know how. If you cannot, then Apple is way too over-protective, and my app that i started is utterly useless. Also if you cannot, Is there any hacky workarounds?     Using Mercurial, we can commit one file by using hg commit file.rb or 1 folder hg commit foldername But how can we push just 1 file or 1 folder out? The whole project can be pushed using hg push ssh://[email protected]//project/code/preliminary but there seems to be no way to push out just 1 file or 1 folder?   • is there a way to disconnect from facebook login without calling logout

    Basically, I'd like to know how I can logout of my facebook session if I am in an iphone app and have connected to facebook (such that I do not have to repeatedly enter my login/password). Normally you'd disconnect in the app somewhere like in the options, but if this is not available (i.e. anything that triggers the FBSession logout method) is there some other way to do it? I'm guessing one could restore their phone to factory settings or something.

  • C# System.Diagnostics.Process redirecting Standard Out for large amounts of data

    I running an exe from a .NET app and trying to redirect standard out to a streamreader. The problem is that when I do myprocess.exe out.txt out.txt is close to 14mb. When I do the command line version it is very fast but when I run the process from my csharp app it is excruciatingly slow because I believe the default streamreader flushes every 4096 bytes. Is there a way to change the default stream reader for the Process object?

    i run web application on iis 6 , windows server 2003 , mysql database. first it was working fine, but when i reconfigured the mysql server with the same password it gave me this message error when i want to enter any page in browser : "MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException: There is no 'root'@'%' registered". i checked the app connection it's the same, as though the app doesn't see the localhost , because "dbforge" sometimes give me this message: "connection localhost cannot be found" but when i doubleclick the connection it opens as root. any idea to solve this problem

    Hi guys, In my app I save an XML file to the users SD-card by doing File newxmlfile = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/Message.xml"); But not all users have SD-cards in their phone and therefore my app is likely to crash. How must I change my File creating method in order to save the file to the phone's memory instead of the SD-card? Also, how must I change the loading of the file?   • Is there a recommended approach to handle saving data in response to within-site navigation without

    Hello all, Preamble to scope my question: I have a web app (or site, this is an internal LAN site) that uses jQuery and AJAX extensively to dynamically load the content section of the UI in the browser. A user navigates the app using a navigation menu. Clicking an item in the navigation menu makes an AJAX call to php, and php then returns the content that is used to populate the central content section. One of the pages served back by php has a table form, set up like a spreadsheet, that the user enters values into. This table is always kept in sync with data in the database. So, when the table is created, is it populated with the relevant database data. Then when the user makes a change in a "cell", that change immediately is written back to the database so the table and database are always in sync. This approach was take to reassure users that the data they entered has been saved (long story...), and to alleviate them from having to click a save button of some kind. So, this always in sync idea is great, except that a user can enter a value in a cell, not take focus out of the cell, and then take any number of actions that would cause that last value to be lost: e.g. navigate to another section of the site via the navigation menu, log out of the app, close the browser, etc. End of preamble, on to the issue: I initially thought that wasn't a problem, because I would just track what data was "dirty" or not saved, and then in the onunload event I would do a final write to the database. Herein lies the rub: because of my clever (or not so clever, not sure) use of AJAX and dynamically loading the content section, the user never actually leaves the original url, or page, when the above actions are taken, with the exception of closing the browser. Therefore, the onunload event does not fire, and I am back to losing the last data again. My question, is there a recommended way to handle figuring out if a person is navigating away from a "section" of your app when content is dynamically loaded this way? I can come up with a solution I think, that involves globals and tracking the currently viewed page, but I thought I would check if there might be a more elegant solution out there, or a change I could make in my design, that would make this work.     I'm thinking of a web app that uses CouchDB extensively, to the point where there would be great gains from serving with the native erlang HTTP API as much as possible. Can you configure Apache as a reverse proxy to allow outside GETs to be proxied directly to CouchDB, whereas PUT/POST are sent to the application internal logic (for sanitation, authentication...)? Or is this unwise -- the CouchDB built-in authentication options just seem a little weak for a Web App. Thanks
