• How do I blur (ios7 style) a section of an image in a UITableViewCell?

  I've got a UIImageView that takes up the whole cell and shows an image. I'd like to blur the bottom third of the view in the iOS7 style (we're targeting iOS7). There will be a label over the blurred part. The issue seems to be that I can't "screenshot" the UIImageView right as I am setting up the cell in tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: as it hasn't loaded yet. Although i've even tried setting up a timer for a 0.1 second delay and that also doesn't work. I've tried the stuff on http://damir.me/posts/ios7-blurring-techniques I've tried https://github.com/justinmfischer/7blur I'd like to use the new screenshotting API drawViewHierarchyInRect:afterScreenUpdates: I'd also like to use apple's sample code UIImage+ImageEffects The only thing that has worked so far has been to just put a UIToolbar in but the performance is really slow. I don't need dynamic updates. I've managed to get the following effect a few times but it has just tinted the view and hasn't actually blurred anything so I'm a bit confused.

• How to get ID of EditorFor with nested viewmodels in asp.net mvc 2

  So I have two nested view models, CreditCard - BillAddress. I have a view, "EditBilling", that has EditorFor(CreditCard). The CreditCard EditorTemplate has EditorFor(BillAddress), and the BillAddress EditorTemplate has EditorFor(BillState). The end result is a select list with id "CreditCard_BillAddress_BillState". I need to reference this in javascript, thus need to know the ID. In other situations, with non-nested ViewModels, I have used the following code: $('#<%= ViewData.ModelMetadata.PropertyName %>_BillState') The problem here is that the ModelMetadata.PropertyName property is only aware of the current property, not the parent(s). So I end up with the following: $('#BillAddress_BillState') How does one go about getting the client ID of nested strongly typed helpers? Thanks in advance.

• How can I make these images download on a seperate thread?

  Hello!! I have the following code running on my Android device. It works great and displays my list items wonderfully. It's also clever in the fact it only downloads the data when it's needed by the ArrayAdapter. However, whilst the download of the thumbnail is occurring, the entire list stalls and you cannot scroll until it's finished downloading. Is there any way of threading this so it'll still scroll happily, maybe show a place holder for the downloading image, finish the download, and then show? Any help with this would be really apreciated. Thank-you kindly. Now I want a static IoC container that can be shared across these layers. I want to make my View testable and to do that I’ll have to inject the various dependencies in various layers and mock out those dependencies as well. Now issue I am facing is where to declare and load ninject modules. i also realised in Silverlight version of Ninject there is no version of Load which take string arugment, which can be used to load the modules dynamically Load("*.dll"). • iPhone: Infinitely looping content inside UIScrollView

  In my app, I'm designing a custom picker that allows the user to choose an item by scrolling horizontally and touching it. I need the buttons inside that view to loop around infinitely as the user scrolls in a certain direction. What would be the best way to tackle this feature while maintaining the inertial scrolling of UIScrollView when the content loops around out of the view? From my research of others trying to attempt this, they have trouble maintaining the deceleration animation if the scroll position is programatically shifted mid-scroll after the user lifts their finger. How can I work around this limitation? An example of an app that currently has this feature is Apple's MobileMe Gallery app. In the interface, after choosing a gallery, at the top, there is a horizontally scrollable photo picker that loops infinitely as it is dragged one direction. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

• Android question. Is there a link to a simple example of changing the screen brightness for an activ

  There are apparently at least three different techniques for changing screen brightness in the Android OS. Two of them no longer work post-cupcake and the third accepted technique evidently has a bug. I would like to increase screen brightness at the start of a one-view activity then turn the brightness back to the user setting at the end of the activity. No buttons, no second view or second activity. Just a maxed brightness at start and a return to original brightness setting at the end of the activity. The examples of the current technique using WindowManager.LayoutParams that I have located range from 2 lines of code WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = getWindow().getAttributes(); lp.screenBrightness = 100 / 100.0f; getWindow().setAttributes(lp); to several pages of source code and numerous activities. Is there a simple example of maxing the screen brightness at start that someone can provide a link to? Thank you for reading my question.

• DataGridView lags for a second with large data updates

  I have a DataGridView with about 400 rows and 10 columns. When the user first displays this table, it receives all of the data from the server and populates the table. The DGV uses a DataTable as it's data source, and when updating the DataTable I use row.BeginEdit/EndEdit and acceptChanges, but when the View itself is updated it lags for a second while all of the DGV is being updated. I am wondering if there is a way to make this smooth, so that for example, if the user is scrolling through the data and it updates, it won't interrupt the scrolling. Or if the user is moving the display around the screen and it updates, it won't interrupt. Is there an easy way to do this? If not, is there away to prevent the DGV from updating the view until all events have ended so it won't be repainted until the user stops scrolling, dragging, etc ?

• Google Docs viewer in IE

  Hey all, I've searched high and low for a solution, but can't find one. I'm using Google Docs Viewer to view PDF files. It's a great tool, but I can't seem to get it working in Internet Explorer (7 or 8). All my images come up as a 'missing' icon. If I view the file externally, it seems to load fine and it will start working (I'm assuming because the images are being cached). The document is being displayed in an iframe and works in all other browsers. Has anyone come across a solution to get it to work in IE? If not, is there an alternative that can display PPT and PDF files? Thanks

• AppDelegate viewController memory leak?

  I am just curious with regards to the correct way to create a view controller programatically. When I compile this code with the static analyser I get a leak (as you would expect) from the alloc. • How to do a pop-up window with textfields in Objective-C?

  In the iPhone Objective-C app, I want to pop-up a window (which is smaller than the main view, and the app does not stop running) when a button is tapped, with textField for the user to input text, and dismiss it when it is done. This is widely used but I really cannot google the relevant content out. What view should I use to connect it with the button? AlertView (which seems you cannot add dialogue in), ModalView? • Drupal 6 / Views2 Grid style: whole cells link to nodes

  I have a Users page, which is simply a nicely styled grid (HTML table) of users. I'm displaying a few fields for each one, and both the name and the profile picture have been set to link to the user node. What is the best way to change it so that the whole cell (HTML td) links to the user node? Would you have to use javascript? I've looked into modifying the theme of the view (over-riding the Style output e.g. views-view-grid--users.tpl.php), but cant see an elegant way to get the URL of the user node. And I think you would have to use javascript anyway to turn a whole block element into a link.

Options:- Load an image of the line, then create 4 UIImageViews with it. Create my own subclass of a UIView that draws a line in the draw rect method. • Searching Techniques/Algorithms for Resources over a given area

  I have a flat area with nodes randomly placed on this flat surface. I need techniques which are able to take a starting point, move in a certain way (the algorithm), find nodes and continue searching. I do not have an overall view of the surface (i.e. I cannot see everything), only a limited view (i.e. 4 cells in any direction). Ideally, these methods would be efficient in the way that they work. • Proper way to setup a UISegmentedControll on UINavigationController UINavigationBar all inside UITab

  The title pretty much describes it all. The problem being the handling of the UISegmentedControll callbacks (button presses). If the content type of all of the nested views was the same (i.e. some UITableViewControllers) then I could just switch dataSource'es and reload the tables. However this is not the case, I have 3 very different views in there that allow further drilldown / interaction based on the NavigationControllers. So the way I have this set up ATM is that there is a "container" class that I put all of the UINavigationControllers in. They all share the same and one UISegmentedController and I redirect the callbacks to the container view controller. This does not feel too good at all. Additionally there is a problem when the user taps on the tab bar icon, the navigation controller pops to root which is ... the empty container view. Here's a picture of what I want to achieve:

• Problem with entityForName & ManagedObjectContext when extending tutorial material

  Afternoon all, I tried to add a second data entity to the persistent store in the (locations) coredata tutorial code, and then access this in a new view. I think that I've followed the tutorial, and checked that I'm doing a clean build etc, but can't see what to change to prevent it crashing. • out of memory issue in asp .net mvc application

  Hi, I have got one wierd issue. I am working on an asp .net mvc application. I have a refresh button that build some data and view models in the controller code, and returns the partial view back. Well this refresh does work good the very first time. But when i try to click my refresh button again, a javascript alert comes saying "out of memory at line 56" I checked my task manager to see on whats happening. I ahve a 3GB memory and when this error alert shows up the used memory is 1.41 GB. Its normal usage as it looks like. But I dont know why it shows the javascript error alert. This problem happens in my local workstation where I am doing developement of this application. Any thoughts or comments to trouble shoot or solve this issue is appreciated. I ma using IE7.

• jquery Cycle plugin conflicing with custom script

  I have a site in development here: http://bit.ly/diWSgT Scenario: My custom script looks at the viewport size and if the menu and logo are not in view, animates them up into view (just re-size your browser window to test if you like). That works fine. I also have the every wonderful jQuery cycle plugin in use via WP-Cycle for Wordpress. The problem: As you can see by checking out the site, using my slide up/down button buggers with the cycle function, particularly when you click the button while on the second image. Any thoughts as to why this is happening would be great. Thanks.

• Help with iphone dev - beyond bounds error

  I'm just learning iphone development, so please forgive me for what is probably a beginner error. I've searched around and haven't found anything specific to my problem, so hopefully it is an easy fix. The book has examples of building a table from data hard coded via an array. Unfortunately it never really tells you how to get data from a URL, so I've had to look that up and that is where my problems show up. When I debug in xcode, it seems like the count is correct, so I don't understand why it is going out of bounds? • UIView Clipped By Statusbar until Autorotate

  Hi There, Ive created a multiview application that uses multiple controllers to display and control views. The problem Im having is, when the simulator initially loads the view the header is partially covered by the bar at top of screen and the tool bar at the base is not touching the base of the screen. I used the Interface builder size attributes to control the view when the iphone rotates and it works perfectly. All smaps into place perfectly both in landscape and portrait mode AFTER a rotation but the problem is with the initial load before a rotation occurs. Your thoughts a much appreciated. Tony

  I'm using an NSTreeController to manage nodes for an NSOutlineView. When the user adds a new item, I create a new object and insert it: EntityViewEntityNode *newNode = [EntityViewEntityNode nodeWithName:@"New entity" entity:newObject]; // Insert at end of group // NSIndexPath *insertAt = [pathOfGroupNode indexPathByAddingIndex:[selected.children count]]; [entityCollectionTreeController insertObject:newNode atArrangedObjectIndexPath:insertAt]; Now I'd like to open the table column for edit so the user can name the new item. This seems logical: NSInteger row = [entityCollectionOutlineView rowForItem:newNode]; [entityCollectionOutlineView editColumn:0 row:row withEvent:nil select:YES]; However, row is always -1 indicating the object isn't found. Poking around reveals that the tree controller is not actually putting my objects directly in the tree, but is wrapping them in a node object of its own. Anyone have insight into how I would go about getting a row index relative to the outline view, so I can do this (without, hopefully, enumerating everything in the outline view and figuring out the mapping back to my node?)

  Hi guys, I have an iPhone application. First view controller which is a UITableViewController has a cell for "category". When user select "category" it will push another UITableViewController where user can select category. What is the proper way to implement that so when you click back on navigation bar it will remember your selection and populate the selected in the back view controller's "category" cell. An example of this can be found in ebay application. When you search for something in ebay iphone application you have "Refine" button on top right. When you click this you can further refine the category. I'm trying to achieve exactly like this. Thanks

• how to ingore comma when returning json mvc

  Hi all, I'm returning JSON from my controller to my view in order to populate a jquery autocomplete textbox in MVC. The problem is, some of my data contains commas, and therefore is split by the autocomplete helper. Heres my code. Controller: public ActionResult GetData() { var data = repository.GetData(); return Json(data); } View (script): $.post("../MyController/GetData", function(data) { var evalData = eval(data) + ""; //formats the text $("#Data").autocomplete(evalData.split(","), { max: 500, matchContains: true }); }); As you can see, I am using the jquery .split helper to split the returned Json. Should I be using regex or should I go with a completely different approach?
