I did not post the full ExecAndWait method but I can if someone wants to see it.

  • Java DriverManager Always Assigns My Driver

    I am writing a driver to act as a wrapper around two separate MySQL connections (to distributed databases). Basically, the goal is to enable interaction with my driver for all applications instead of requiring the application to sort out which database holds the desired data. Most of the code for this is in place, but I'm having a problem in that when I attempt to create connections via the MySQL Driver, the DriverManager is returning an instance of my driver instead of the MySQL Driver. I'd appreciate any tips on what could be causing this and what could be done to fix it! Below is a few relevant snippets of code. I can provide more, but there's a lot, so I'd need to know what else you want to see. First, from MyDriver.java: public MyDriver() throws SQLException { DriverManager.registerDriver(this); } public Connection connect(String url, Properties info) throws SQLException { try { return new MyConnection(info); } catch (Exception e) { return null; } } public boolean acceptsURL(String url) throws SQLException { if (url.contains("jdbc:jgb://")) { return true; } return false; } It is my understanding that this acceptsURL function will dictate whether or not the DriverManager deems my driver a suitable fit for a given URL. Hence it should only be passing connections from my driver if the URL contains "jdbc:jgb://" right? First, the info.list() call confirms that the correct user and password are being sent. Second, because we enter an infinite loop, we see that the DriverManager is providing new instances of my connection as matches for the mysql URLs instead of the desired mysql driver/connection. FWIW, I have separately tested implementations that go straight to the mysql driver using this exact syntax (al beit only one at a time), and was able to successfully interact with each database individually from a test application outside of my driver.

  • How do I update a webpage with the progress of a server-side task?

    Hi everyone, I'm working on a web project that takes the results from a survey type application, and runs them through a bunch of calculations to come up with some recommended suggestions for the user. Now, this calculation might take a minute or so, so I'd like to be able to give the user some update on it's progress. Obviously, the quick and dirty solution would be to put up a message along the lines of "Please wait while we calculate your recommendations" with a spinning gear type graphic. (or whatever, you get the point..). Once the task completes, I'd redirect to the results page. However, I'd like to do something a little more flashy. Maybe something along the lines of a progress bar, and even prompt the user with what's going on in the background. For example, give them a progress bar, with some text that says "Now processing suggestion 3 of 15; Multi-Vitamin" Any suggestions on how I could set this up? One way I'm thinking of doing it is to write the progress of the calculation method to the HttpContext, and slap up an update panel and timer that would show/refresh this info. I've also checked out maybe building a web service/method, and then poll that at some interval. Has anybody done something similar to this before? What worked for you? Thanks again! ~Jim

  • Cannot find libmysqlclient under /usr. while build PHP 5.2 from source on Ubuntu 12.4

    I was trying to build PHP 5.2.17 from source on Ubuntu 12.4 64bit using this configuration: ./configure --prefix=/opt/php5.2 --with-config-file-path=/opt/php5.2 --with-mysql but I keep getting this error: configure: error: Cannot find libmysqlclient under /usr. Note that the MySQL client library is not bundled anymore! I suspected that dev package for mysql is not installed so tried installing libmysqlclient-dev but it was already there. Any Idea how to resolve this? EDIT1: I minimized the configure command so it just focuses to mysql. also I'm running a 64bit version of ubuntu.     I have two very large enterprise tables in an Oracle 10g database. One table keeps the historical information of the other table. The problem is, I'm getting to the point where the records are just too many that my insert update is taking too long and my session is getting killed by the governor. The chance of getting an enterprise upgrade is slim so is there a way to further optimize my first query or write it in another way to have it run best performance wise? Thanks.

  • Mixing Objective-C and C++: Game Loop Parts

    I'm trying to write all of my game in C++ except for drawing and game loop timing. Those parts are going to be in Objective-C for iOS. Right now, I have ViewController handling the update cycle, but I want to create a GameModel class that ViewController could update. I want GameModel to be in C++. I know how to integrate these two classes. My problem is how to have these two parts interact with the drawing and image loading. GameModel will keep track of a list of children of type GameObject. These GameObjects update every frame, and then need to pass position and visibility data to whatever class or method will handle drawing. I feel like I'm answering my own question now (talking it out helps) but would it be a good idea to put all of the visible game objects into an array at the end of the update method, return it, and use that to update graphics inside ViewController?

    We're having a bit of confusion on a Ubuntu remote system -- /boot/grub/menu.lst suggests the system should boot into kernel 2.6.35-30-generic, but it is actually running kernel 2.6.32-27-generic. Where should I look to start figuring out why this is happening and how to fix it? Specifically, /boot/grub/menu.lst has default 0 and the first entry is title Ubuntu 10.10, kernel 2.6.35-30-generic uuid 67717ee3-cbf9-45d2-ae97-820256f4c4fd kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-30-generic root=UUID=67717ee3-cbf9-45d2- ae97-820256f4c4fd ro quiet splash initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-30-generic Further, I've confirmed that /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-30-generic and /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-30-generic exist and have appropriate permissions.   • RESTful API design - should a PUT return related data?

    I have an API which allows a user to update their system status; and a separate call to retrieve system status updates from other users. Would it make sense to unify them under a PUT request where a user would request a PUT update with their own status update, and they would receive the status updates of other users? My solution would allow the PUT request to call the GET request method internally. The reason behind this is that when a user updates their system status they should be informed of other users status immediately, and I don't feel that having 2 seperate requests is necessary - and should be optional. I intend to keep the GET request for other users status as a status update for a user is not necessarily required in order to retrieve other users status', but once they update their own status is it vital that they get information about other users.

    I have a basic 2D tower defense game in C++. Each map is a separate class which inherits from GameState. The map delegates the logic and drawing code to each object in the game and sets data such as the map path. In pseudo-code the logic section might look something like this: update(): for each creep in creeps: creep.update() for each tower in towers: tower.update() for each missile in missiles: missile.update() The objects (creeps, towers and missiles) are stored in vector-of-pointers. The towers must have access to the vector-of-creeps and the vector-of-missiles to create new missiles and identify targets. The question is: where do I declare the vectors? Should they be members of the Map class, and passed as arguments to the tower.update() function? Or declared globally? Or are there other solutions I'm missing entirely?

  • Why does apt-get keep waiting for headers on Oracle repository?

    I have this at the end of my /etc/apt/sources.list to retrieve Oracle code: deb http://oss.oracle.com/debian unstable main non-free When I run sudo apt-get update, the app gets stuck displaying this message: 100% [Waiting for headers] If I remove this, apt-get update runs without error. Is there a new, recommended URL for Oracle products and, generally, how do you fix this problem? I am pretty sure this did not happen on 11.10 and has only started with the move to 12.04.   • Change AccountName/LoginName for a SharePoint User (SPUser)

    Consider the following: We have an account named MYDOMAIN\eholz. This accounts Active Directory Login Name changes to MYDOMAIN\eburrell Now this user was a active user in a Sharepoint 2010 team Site, and had a userProfile using the Account name MYDOMAIN\eholz. Since the AD LoginName changed to eburrell hence we need to update the Sharepoint User (SPUser object) as well update the userprofile to reflect the new account name. To update the Sharepoint User LoginName we can run the following stsadm command on the Server: STSADM –o migrateuser –oldlogin MYDOMAIN\eholz –newlogin MYDOMAIN\eburrell –ignoresidhistory However to update the Sharepoint 2010 UserProfile, i first tried running a Incremental/Full Synchronization using the User Profile Synchronization service… this did not work. To enable me to update the AccountName field (which is a read only field) of the UserProfile, I had to first delete the User Profile for MYDOMAIN\eholz and then run a FULL Synchronization using the User Profile Synchronization service which synchronizes the Sharepoint User Profiles with the AD profiles.
