• MS Access: Why can I no longer right-click to add a hyperlink?

  I've been working in an MS Access system for a while now. It's a form system where users enter data, add links, contacts etc. Pretty simple. On the form is a hyperlink field. For months I could right-click the field, and from the popup context menu select Hyperlink Add a hyperlink (something like that). This would allow me to browse to a network location, select a folder, click okay, and have the path automatically added to the field. Then it stopped working. It works fine for everyrone else but not me. What's stranger, if I go to another machine and login, I get the functionality back. Any ideas?

  We currently run two separate domains where our new implementation of exchange 2010 is currently on a separate domain the users. My problem is: [email protected] cant access his mailbox at joe@domainb via OWA even though full access and sendas has been granted on domainb's mailbox to domaina's account. I keep receiving the error: Access is denied. The Active Directory resource couldn't be accessed. This may be because the Active Directory object doesn't exist or the object has become corrupted, or because you don't have the correct permissions. anyone able to help please? Take care

• How to get search engines to properly index an ajax driven search page

  I have an ajax-driven search page that will allow users to search through a large collection of records. Each search result points to index.php?id=xyz (where xyz is the id of the record). The initial view does not have any records listed, and there is no interface that allows you to browse through all records. You can only conduct a search. How do I build the page so that spiders can crawl each record? Or is there another way (outside of this specific search page) that will allow me to point spiders to a list of all records. FYI, the collection is rather large, so dumping links to every record in a single request is not a workable solution. Outputting the records must be done in multiple requests. Each record can be viewed via a single page (eg "record.php?id=xyz"). I would like all the records indexed without anything indexed from the sitemap that shows where the records exist, for example: <a href="/result.php?id=record1">Record 1</a> <a href="/result.php?id=record2">Record 2</a> <a href="/result.php?id=record3">Record 3</a> <a href="/seo.php?page=2">next</a> Assuming this is the correct approach, I have these questions: How would the search engines find the crawl page? Is it possible to prevent the search engines from indexing the words "Record 1", etc. and "next"? Can I output only the links? Or maybe something like:

• Acer aspire one d270 can not set brightness

  I hope you can help me figure out how to set the brightness at my netbook. Following problem appears since I installed ubuntu 11.10 on my acer: I am not able to adjust the brightness by FN Keys nor manually at "systemsettings-display". After searching with google for a while, I found a way via the terminal to adjust it with the folloqing command: "sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=7f" ( from 00-9f). That was a major breakthrough for me as I am still new to Linux OS. But still seeking a way to get the FN keys for brightness to work, I kept searching until I found "askubuntu.com". I read through various Questions by other acer users and tried there solutions, but unfortunately none worked out for me. From this thread: fn + arrow keys don't adjust actual brightness on an Acer Aspire 5740 "sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf". This command did not work because the file was not found. I also used nano instead of gedit, but the file was empty( I think it just created the file since it did not exist). These commands which i found gave me a boot loop and I had to repair ubuntu: sudo gedit /etc/default/grub Change the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" into GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=Linux" sudo update-grub From this post Screen Brightness not adjustable for Acer Aspire S3: I tried the solution from the last post, but it did not work either. Does anyone know what I could try? I would appreciate it, if someone could help me out with this.   I can't seem to find the answer to my questions -- hence my posting this here. 1) I have encrypted my home folder in LinuxMint 15 Cinammon x64. If I create images of LM's partitions via fsarchiver, how do I go about selectively restoring home folders, and files from the FS images? 2) I haven't done this yet; but can I restore another users home folder into another user; both unencrypted. Is that a fairly common thing to do in Linux/ubuntu? I mean is the process fairly straightforward? What if the home folder I want to copy over to another user is encrypted? Thx

• Google play game services and Facebook integration in one game

  We are creating a cross platform game for iOS and Android. We have thought about how and with which services we should integrate achievements and scoreboards with. For the iOS part, we are pretty sure that this how we want to do, in order from when the user opens the app for the first time: Connect with Game Center (Should be automatic, the user shouldn't even notice?) We will also get the players nickname for public scoreboards here. Ask if the user wants to connect with Facebook so that we can compare the players highscores with their friends. We could add Google play game services there as well, but I don't feel like that adds anything to the experience for the end user. Now comes the tricky part: Android We thought that we could do just like for iOS, except that we replace Game Center with Google Play Game Services. However, unlike Game Center, Game Services will ask the user to log in to their Google+ account and allow us to access their account. So now, what we have is a double login, first with Google+ and then with Facebook. What will users think about that? Should we scrap Play Services entirely and just ask the user for a nickname within our app and user Facebook for achievements?

• Fixed JavaScript Warning - Pin to Top of Page Using CSS Position [migrated]

  I am new to this site, but it seems like the right place to ask this question. I am working on a noscript chunk of code whereby I do some stuff that includes a <p> at the top of the page that alerts the users that he/she has JavaScript disabled. The end result should look like the Stack Exchange sites when JavaScript is disabled (here is a screenshot of mine - SE looks similar except it is at the very top of the page): I have it working OK, but I would love it if the red bar stayed fixed along the top, upon scrolling. I tried using the position: fixed; method, but it ends up moving the p element and I can't get it to look exactly the same as it does without the position: fixed; modification. I tried fiddling with CSS top and left and other positioning but it doesn't ever look like I want it to. • Caching without file extensions

  I'm trying to use Varnish to show the non-logged in users a cached version of my website. I'm able to perfectly detect if the user is logged in or out, but I can't cache pages without extensions. There is no file extension because nginx is rewriting the URL to a php script(so caching .php does not work). For example I'd like varnish to cache: example.com example.com/forum/ example.com/contact/ I have tried if (req.request == "GET" && req.url ~ "^/") { return(lookup); } if (req.request == "GET" && req.url ~ "") { return(lookup); } if (req.request == "GET" && req.url ~ "/") { return(lookup); } but nothing seems to work... any help?

• Disable user_deny.db in Cyrus/imapd

  We have a cyrus 2.4.12 on Debian, we use packages, rather than building each software ourselves. I am getting the this "log" constantly, a lot of, various users, and 8-10 times per user request: fetching user_deny.db entry for 'user123' I have searched for it, but haven't found a real solution, there were some patches for 2.3.xx, but we don't want ot build it, we prefer to use packages. Is there any solution to disable the user_deny.db at all. We don't need this feature. It wastes the CPU as disk.

• Collaboration using github and testing the code

  The procedure in my team is that we all commit our code to the same development branch. We have a test server that runs updated code from this branch so that we can test our code on the servers. The problem is that if we want to merge the development branch to the master branch in order to publish new features to our production servers, some features that may not have been ready will be applied to the production servers. So we're considering having each developer work on a feature/topic branch where each of them work on their own features and when it's ready, merge it into the development branch for testing, and then into the master branch. However, because our test server only pulls changes from the development branch, the developers are unable to test their features. While this is not a huge issue as they can test it on their local machine, the only problem I foresee is if we want to test callbacks from third-party services like sendgrid (where you specify a url for sendgrid to update you on the status of emails sent out). How to handle this problem? Note: We're not advanced git users. We use the Github app for MacOSX and Windows to commit our work.

• Migrating a Windows Server to Ubuntu Server to provide Samba, AFP and Roaming Profiles

  I'm replacing our old Windows XP Pro office server with a HP Microserver running Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS. I'm not a Linux expert but I can find my way around a terminal prompt, I'm a Mac user by choice. The office use a mix of Windows XP Pro machines and OSX Lion laptops. I included Samba during installation, and I'm planning on using Netatalk for the AFP and Bonjour sharing. I'd quite like to have samba make the server appear in 'My network places' on the Windows machines the way Bonjour makes it appear in finder on the Macs, if this is possible? I want to get to a point so that a user logging into Windows, gets connected to the Ubuntu server (do they need an Ubuntu user account?) which get them their shares and their Windows user profile (though a standard profile across users would do). The upshot is to make centralised control of user accounts (e.g. If a person leaves, killing their account on the server stops their Windows logon and ability to access Samba shares) and to ensure files aren't stored on the individual machines for backup/security purposes. I want to make this as simple as possible, so don't want to have loads of stuff I don't need, I just can't figure out: What I need at the server end: - will Samba be enough (already installed as part of initial installation), or will I need to cock around with LDAP (and how does this interact with Samba) - For someone of moderate Linux competence like me, is there a package that offers easy admin of user accounts, e.g. a GUI like phpLDAPadmin (if LDAP is necessary) How to configure the XP machines: - do I need to have the XP machines set up as a domain controller (I've no idea, really) - roaming profiles looks to offer the feature of putting the user's files on the server rather than the machine itself along with a profile that follows the user from machine to machine. Syncing Mac user's home folders with the server This is less of a concern because I can set up Time Machine if it comes to it, but I'd appreciate any recommendations of what approach I should take having the Mac home folders synced to the server.

• Lenovo Ideapad 205 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

  I just wanted to report one thing, because I know there are a lot of Ideapad S205 users out there, that had issues running Ubuntu on their Lenovo Ideapad S205 in the past. Lenovo Ideapad with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS: Everything works out of the box. I just installed it and everything, including the microphone, the webcam, the WLAN, the AMD E-350 CPU/GPU and the sound worked right away. In other words: Everything works. Even the AMD E-350 GPU works very well with the Open Source drivers and with the prop. drivers. The prop. drivers were automatically offered to me via Ubuntu itself. It works great. A long idea, written short: I love it. It's extremly stable and very fast. I am using the German version of the Idepad S205, combined with the 32bit version of Ubuntu. There is only one, single thing to keep in mind when installing Ubuntu on the S205: Plugin your USB/CD/DVD drive in the left USB-Port. I don't know why, but it only works with the USB-Port on the left side of the Netbook. This is only for installing Ubuntu. After it has been installed and updated successfully, all of the USB ports will work. Oranges - feedback on Lenovo S205 with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

• Microsoft ISA 2004 - Failed Connection Attempt

  I have an issue where users with Android tablet cannot download apps through ISA 2004. This is what I get from the ISA 2004 logging: I did try to add the source ip address and the destination ip address in All for All Modified rule. However, it does not fix that problem. I also use GFI Web Monitoring. I did add the 151.101.13.80 ip address into the Whitelist, and no luck. What Failed Connection Attempt exactly is? How to overcome this. The Android tablet is throwing an error 495, could not be downloaded. Thanks everyone.

• Suggestions for a CMS markup language for PHP

  As a learning experience, and as project, I am attempting to write a CMS module for ZF2. One of the functionality I would like to have is the possibility of adding dynamic contents in the pages by calling PHP functions in the view scripts. However, I do not want to give the users freedom in writing PHP code directly inside the page content, but rather implement custom view helpers (or widgets) to handle logic. For example: calling partial, partialLoop, url, etc. specifying arguments and all. I liked the idea of extending Markdown but this would get complicated when trying to add custom CSS class to elements, etc. Then I had the idea of simply doing a preg_replace on some patterns. For example, the string : ### partialLoop:['partials/display.phtml',[{id:'p1',price:4.99},{id:'p2',price:12.34}]] ### would be replaced by <?php echo $this->partialLoop('partials/display.phtml', array(array('id'=>'p1','price'=>4.99),array('id'=>'p2','price'=>12.34))) ?> Obviously, there would be some caching done so the page content is not rendered everytime. Does this sound good? If not, what would be a good way of doing this? Or is there a project already being developed for doing this? (I'd like to avoid heavy third party libs and something fairly or fully compatible with ZF2 would be nice.) Thanks.

• Monitor HTTP usage on network from Linux free

  I manage a small office network. I am looking to start monitoring/logging internet usage (website requests) for each user on a small network. All the windows clients are running through a switch to a BT router. I also have a linux (centos) machine which is connected as a client to the BT router as well. Is there any free software I can install on the linux box (or my own machine) to allow me to log and monitor websites requested by users kind of like browser history. Ideally, something that would collect each client's browser history in 1 place. Thanks

• Microsoft MVP Award &ndash; Data Platform Development

  For those who don't already know, yesterday I received my first Microsoft MVP Award in Data Platform Development.  With less than 5,000 MVPs in the world overall and about 20 in the Data Platform category, saying I am honored would be an understatement.  From the first time I spoke at a code camp, I was totally hooked and have had a blast travelling around the east coast speaking at code camps and users groups.  I'd like to take the time to thank Dani Diaz (@danidiaz) for the nomination and everyone who supported me, especially my wife Lisa for letting me travel and speak as much as I have and putting up with me for late nights and such.  Roska Digital, my employer, also deserves a shout out for supporting me and giving me the necessary time off to get to speaking engagements.  With any luck, the next year will be at least as fun if not more than the last one has.  I hope to see you at a code camp or user group meeting soon! • Win 2008 single server development environment (architecture)

  I have a few questions about a test development environment that I’m setting up on this server: Intel Core i7-920 Quadcode incl. Hyper Threading 8 GB DDR3 RAM 2x 750 GB SATA-II (probably software RAID 1) The server is going to support max 5 users, maybe 10 when stressed. I was hoping that I could run all the following products on the same server: Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 w/ IIS SQL Server 2008 x64 (R2 when released) Team Foundation Server 2010 Sharepoint Foundation 2010 I know this sounds overkill, but remember that this is for development purpose and testing. This is not a production environment. My question if this will be possible at all? Should I run it all on one Windows 2008 installation, or should I run it in multiple virtual environments using Hyper-V? What do you think?

• VPN Connects with local access only

  I have Windows Server 2008 and I have set up a VPN. When a user logs into their VPN they can not view the internet. It comes up as local access only on the the client PC. On the server when I go to the Network And Sharing Centre it displays (Network) with local and internet below it has the RAS Dial-in interface and it displays as local only there as well. I want all users that connect to my VPN to have internet access (full access). If anyone can help me it would be appreciated. Also I've activated dial-in properties and I've done it via policy who can access the VPN and internet. It still doesn't work, but there is a connection but just local only. Thanks

• Network and Storage Devices Throughput Chart

  With all of the different storage and network devices that surround our day to day life, understanding these devices data transfer speeds can be somewhat confusing. Think about trying to identify your weakest link in the a chain that starts with an external USB hard drive (or a flash drive) that's connected to a 802.11g wifi router, can you quickly come up with an answer of where's the bottle neck in that chain , is it the router or the storage devices ? . Well, the following chart should give you an idea understanding different devices, protocols and interfaces maximum throughput speeds. Though these numbers can fluctuate (mostly for worse, but sometimes for the better) due to different kind of factors such as OS overhead (or caching and optimization) , multiple users or processes and so on , the chart can still serve to provide basic information on the theoretical throughput different devices and protocols can get to..
