    Laerte Junior If you are a Powershell user, the name of the Laerte Junior is not a new name. He is the one man with exceptional knowledge of Powershell. He is not only very knowledgeable, but also very kind and eager to those in need. I have been attempting to setup Powershell for many days, but constantly facing issues. I was not able to get going with this tool. Finally, yesterday I sent email to Laerte in response to his comment posted here. Within 5 minutes, Laerte came online and helped me with the solution. He spend nearly 15 minutes working along with me to solve my problem with installation. And yes, he did resolve it remotely without looking at my screen – What a skilled and exceptional person!!   • PC hangs and reboots from time to time

    Hello, I have a very strange problem: Since I have my new PC, I have always had problems with it. From time to time the computer freezes for some seconds and suddendly reboots by itself. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 9.10. The same with 10.04 and 10.10. That's why I don't think it's a software failure because the problem persist too long. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm doing at this time. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I only use Firefox, sometimes I'm running 2 or 3 VMs, sometimes I watch DVD. So it's not isolatable. I could freeze once a day or once a week. I put the PC to the vendor twice(!). The first time they changed my power supply but the problem persisted. The second time they told me that they made some heavy performance tests 50 hours long but they didn't find anything. (How can that be that I have daily freezes with normal usage). The vendor didn't check the hard discs because they used their own disc with Windows. (So they never checked the Linux installation). Yesterday I made some intensive hard disc scans with "SMART" but no errors were found. I ran memtest for 3 times but no errors found. I already had this problem in my old flat, so I doubt that I has something to do with current fluctuation. I already tried another electrical socket and changed to connector strip but the problem persists. At the moment I removed 2 of the RAMs (2x 2GB). In all I have 6GB, 2x2GB and 2x1GB. Could this difference maybe be a problem? Here is a list of my components. I hope that anybody find something I didn't think about yet. That’s when I got an error that my two Macs had the same name. Oops! Luckily it’s an extremely easy fix. Just open up System Preferences, go to Sharing, and change the computer name. Done! You can also change it from the Terminal using this command, though obviously it’s much simpler to just change it under Sharing.

OR Is it possible to set permanent 'zoom' in Google Chrome, using a third-party extension maybe?

On recent update of Google AdSense, a new module called Scorecard displayed on my dashboard. In item Revenue optimization Text and image ads enabled , it is marked as Yellow. But I have already enabled Text and Image ads in all my sites. Why does it still having Yellow instead of Green? Is it a bug of Google AdSense Scorecard ?

  • Thumbnailers of text and ogg files

    I use ubuntu 12.04 and I can see in nautilus thumbnailers of ogg (with embedded artwork) and text files, just like in figure It's a nice feature. I have a slow machine and I've installed Arch with LXDE and pcmanfm. I would like the same thumbnailers, but I can only see a few of them like in the figure I've installed nautilus, thunar, spacefm... and lots of different thumbnailers in my Arch machine, but I haven't be able to see the thumbnailers of text and ogg files. I think that maybe ubuntu uses a patched nautilus version with extended capabilities or something like this. Any idea? Thanks.

That’s when I noticed the display brightness kept changing on its own… and realized the problem. OS X, just like your phone, and any modern device, tries to figure out the brightness of the room you’re in, and adjust the brightness of the screen. If you are over in Windows, it’s called “Adaptive” brightness, while your phone will just call it “Auto”. While this technology is great in theory, I don’t really need max brightness all the time, and I like to control it manually to make sure I’m getting the best battery life. Open up System Preferences, head to Displays. Then uncheck the Automatically adjust brightness setting.

    Ive heard allot recently about over optimisation regarding backlink anchor text ofsite. What ive heard from seomoz was sites most effected by the penguin update had over 60% of their backlinks anchor text the same, so google saw this is unnatural and penalized them. Which kind of makes sense as its not normal to have such high density on one word / phrase. If i where building links for a gastro pub in london. (this is purely hypothetical). The sort of keywords i would go after are "gastro pub in london" and "london gastro pub" If i where to mix up the anchor text by having: gastro pub gastro pub in london london gastro pub would this be seen as ok ? or would these all be seen as broad match keywords and counted as one phrase, making me fall foul of the penguin update ?

  • Platformer gravity where gravity is greater than tile size

    I am making a simple grid-tile-based platformer with basic physics. I have 16px tiles, and after playing with gravity it seems that to get a nice quick Mario-like jump feel, the player ends up moving faster than 16px per second at the ground. The problem is that they clip through the first layer of tiles before collisions being detected. Then when I move the player to the top of the colliding tile, they move to the bottom-most tile. I have tried limiting their maximum velocity to be less than 16px but it does not look right. Are there any standard approaches to solving this? Thanks.

    When building an ADF Faces application in JDeveloper, you might have noticed that in the Component Palette there is an option for both "Output Text" as well as "Output Text (Active)".   Why do we have both of these options?Under the covers, there are actually two tags, af:outputText and af:activeOutputText.  Similarly, there is an active version of af:image, namely af:activeImage, and an active version of af:commandToolbarButton, af:activeCommandToolbarButton.In the vast majority of cases, developers should use the non-active version of the components.   The active version of the components are there to support specific usecases around Server Side Push using the Active Data Service feature.  Most of our customers don't use Server Side Push, and hence do not need the active version of the components.  You can learn more about Server Side Push with ADF Active Data Service in this blog.By using the active version of af:outputText, af:image or af:commandToolbarButton when you don't need to, you are taking a performance hit that is unnecessary.

But now I can't boot the virtual machine, I get this worrying screen: By the way, it says FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted. edit3: The vdi must be reattached to the VM after VBoxManage command. Further, the partition will need to be resized from WITHIN windows, because you will have this empty space: I was able to resize the partition easily using a bit of freeware called EASEUS Partition Master 9.1.0 Home Edition.

    I am looking for a javascript solution that slides images with text, pulled from php. This slider will slide in groups by indexes in points. I was googling, but nothing as I need. I am going to make an example. Imagine 10 products. I need to show the principal picture, and a text below the image. It is going to show 6 products, and with points (indexes), I click and the group slides to the next group. Do you know some script.?? I know the php code, but I am a newbie with javascript.! Thanks.!! PD. I am lost of where i have to put this question. So, If this was a wrong place, let me know, and accept my apologises.! ;)
