  I've been trying to figure out how I can make staticText elements resize to fit their contents with wxHaskell. From what I can tell, this is the default behavior in wxWidgets, but the wxHaskell wrapper specifically disables this behavior. However, the library code that creates new elements has me very confused.   In WPF application where I have included some files in resources, I want to execute them on a button click. • C#, How to download file into string with progress callback?

  I would like to use the WebClient (or there is another better option?) but there is a problem. I understand that opening up the stream takes some time and this can not be avoided. However, reading it takes a strangely much more amount of time compared to read it entirely immediately. Of course it's not working good because i'm not so familiar with streams. Is there a best way to do this? I mean two ways, to string and to file. Progress is my own delegate and it's working good.   I'm trying to write a simple program to monitor a folder for new files in VB.NET 2010, and am having some trouble.   I have been looking into Node.js, express and Nowjs and love how easy it is to have real time interactions between clients. My background is mostly from CodeIgniter MVC using PHP and MYSql. I want to re make a current web project of mine from scratch to make everything better and more real time with this newer technology. After researching and doing test examples I want to use node.js , express and Nowjs for the real time interactions once someone connects to the socket.io to pull data back to clients. But use Code Igniter for the control of the site and user management , possible shopping cart/store , pretty much everything else. This is purely due to time constraints and that I am already familiar with doing it that way. I have been looking at MongoDB as an alternative to MySql, Basically the app is going to be multiple chat rooms all on one page. with the ability of notifications and private messaging. Lots of data transfer and images. before I started piecing it together I wanted to get people who have already done something similar. My model would use Code Igniter and MySQL to render the page and then connect them onto a node.js server and broadcast using express and nowjs would using a mongoDB be better than mySQL for tons of messages and data being stored or MYSQL? Also does it make since to not make the whole site on Node.js , kinda piece it together like that?

• Identify words with ascending characters from text file

  I am having a fair amount of trouble trying to write a program that counts the amount of ascending words (words in which each character is larger than the previous character) in a text file. I have tried a few different methods to solve this but cannot seem to get it working. If anyone could help me revise the code to work properly it would be appreciated. The code will print about 5 of the words from the list of nearly 20000, but none considered are ascending (the file does have many ascending words) and it sometimes prints the same word twice. • Dynamic Image Caching with Java

  I have a servlet with an API that delivers images from GET requests. The servlet creates a data file of CAD commands based on the parameters of the GET request. This data file is then delivered to an image parser, which creates an image on the file system. The servlet reads the image and returns the bytes on the response. All of the IO and the calling of the image parser program can be very taxing and images of around 80kb are rendering in 3-4000ms on a local system. There are roughly 20 parameters that make up the GET request. Each correlates to a different portion of the image. So, the combinations of possible images is extremely large. To alleviate the loading time, I plan to store BLOBs of rendered images in a database. If a GET request matches one previously executed, I will pull from cache. Else, I will render a new one. This does not fix "first-time" run, but will help "n+1 runs". Any other ideas on how I can improve performance?

I can see the code flow is: URL.openConnection() - sun.net.www.protocol.http.Handler.openConnection() I have two questions about this First In URL.openConnection() the code is: public URLConnection openConnection() throws java.io.IOException { return handler.openConnection(this); } handler is an object of URLStreamHandler, define as blow transient URLStreamHandler handler; But URLStreamHandler is a abstract class and method openConnection() is not implement in it so when handler calls this method, it should go to find a subclass who implement this method, right? But there are a lot classes who implement this methods in sun.net.www.protocol (like http.Hanlder, ftp.Handler ) How should the code know which "openConnection" method it should call? In this example, this handler.openConnection() will go into http.Handler and it is correct. (if I set the url as ftp://www.google.com, it will go into ftp.Handler) I cannot understand the mechanism. second. I have attached the source code so I can step into the JDK and see the variables but for many classes like sun.net.www.protocol.http.Handler, there are not source code in src.zip. I googled this class and there is source code online I can get but why they did not put it (and many other classes) in the src.zip? Where can I find a comprehensive version of source code? Thanks!

  Installed SharePoint Services v3 (SP2, october 2009 cumulative updates, Language Pack), attached to a content database I had previously (all works). Installed Search server 2008 Express (with language pack) on top of WSS and crawl does not work. However it works for newly created web application + database. Was playing around with accounts, permissions to try get it working. Currently I have WSS_Crawler account with such permissions: Office Search Server runs with WSS_Crawler account Config database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler Content database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler WSS_Crawler is owner of search database. Added WSS_Crawler to SQL server browser user group and administrator Yes, i'v given more permissions than needed, but it doesn't even work with that and i don't know if its permission problem or what. Crawl log says there is Error in the Site Data Web Service., nothing more. There were known issues with a similar error: Error in the Site Data Web Service. (Value does not fall within the expected range.), but this is not the case as thats an old issue and i hope it has been included in SP2... Logs are from olders to newest (descending order). They don't appear to be very helpful.   I am writing a program that opens LPT1 and writes a value to it. The WriteFile function is returning an error code of 1167, "The device is not connected". The Device Manager shows that LPT1 is present. I have a cable connected between a development board and the PC. The cable converts JTAG pin signals to signals on the parallel port. Power is applied and the cable is connected between the development board and the PC. The development board is powered on. I am using: Windows XP MS Visual Studio 2008, C language, console application, debug environment.   I use memcached in a untrust network, so I try to use sasl and pam to auth connection to memcached. I installed sasl and pam module, compiled and installed memcached with sasl enabled. Also I created db and table for pam user. I run: $ sudo testsaslauthd -u tester -p abc123 -s /etc/pam.d/memcached 0: OK "Success." where the tester and abc123 is the authed user in db, which I inserted. But my python script cannot be authed, always authentication failed returned. It seems it dose not use pam to authentication, still use sasldb, because when I add user by: $ sudo saslpasswd2 -a memcached -c tester and input password: abc123, It can passed.   Hello, I created install script that will install SQL Server 2008 R2 on windows XP SP3, windows vista and windows 7. One of the command that i used in the installation is for silent installation of SQL Server 2008 R2. When i install it on windows XP everything works just fine but when i try to install it on Windows 7 i get an error. What am I doing wrong? • Weird "missing" CD/DVD driver during Windows Server 2008 installation

  Hi. We have an old PowerEdge 860 that we're trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2 onto. At present the machine doesn't have any OS installed, so we're doing a clean install from a DVD. Pretty simple stuff. The problem is that, although the installation process starts off well (asking for language and locale settings), as soon as we click "Install Now" we're told "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing." The operating system has already booted from our only DVD drive(!). I've seen other people complain about this problem (usually in relation to installing Vista or Windows 7) but I've not found a 100% solution yet. (Our DVD drive is a Hitachi LG GWA-4400N, salvaged from an old laptop. There have never been any drivers released for this device, nor any firmware updates.) The most promising lead I have is from someone claiming that Windows is actually asking for a driver for the ATAPI/IDE Controller here. UPDATE See my answer below... It was most likely a corrupt download. (*shame*) I will update this question when I know for sure.

• Screen scraping software that will traverse pages

  We're creating a mashup site that pulls information from many sources all over the web. Many of these sites don't provide RSS feeds or APIs to access the information they provide. This leaves us with screen scraping as our method for collecting the data. There are many scripting tools out there written in different scripting languages for screen scraping that require you to write scraping scripts in the language the scraper was written in. Scrapy, scrAPI, and scrubyt are a few written in Ruby and Python. There are other web-based tools I've seen like Dapper that create XML or RSS feeds based on a webpage. It has a beautiful web-based interface that requires no scripting skills to use. This would be a great tool, if it were able to traverse multiple pages to gather data from hundreds pages of results. We need something that will scrape information from paginated web sites, much like scrubyt, but with a user interface that a non-programmer could use. We'll script up our own solution if we need to, probably using scrubyt, but if there's a better solution out there, we want to use it. Does anything like this exist?

  I've turned on dynamic content compression in IIS 7, but Fiddler is showing that my dynamic pages are still being served without content-encoding: gzip. Static content compression is working fine on the same servers. Not sure if it matters but most of the dynamic pages are coldfusion pages and we're also using the IIS URL rewriting module.
