• How to check if a variable is defined in a Master file in ASP.NET MVC

  I've got a Site.Master file I've created to be my template for the majority of the site, with a navigation. This navigation is dynamically created, based on a recursive Entity (called Page) - Pages with a parentID of 0 are top level, and naturally each child carries it's parent's Id in that field. I've created a quick little HTML Helper that accepts the ID of an Page and generates the nav by doing a foreach on the children that have a parentId matching the passed Id. On the majority of the site, I want the Site.Master to use a parentId of 0, but if I'm on a strongly typed View displaying a Page, I naturally want to use the Id of the page. Is there a way to do such conditional logic in a Site.Master (and, does that violate MVC rules)? "If I'm on a strongly typed Page of /Page/{Id}, use the Id render nav, else use 0"

I tried implementing my pages' custom error messages using his method, yet there are some problems I can't quite explain. a) When I provoke a 404 Error by entering in invalid URL such as localhost:3001/NonexistantPage, it defaults to the ServerError() Action of my error controller even though it should go to NotFound(). Thanks! *EDIT : * I can directly navigate to my views through the ErrorController by accessing /Error/NotFound or Error/ServerError. The views themselves only contain some text, no markup or anything. As I said, it actually works in some way, just not the way I intended it to work. There seems to be an issue with the redirect in the web.config, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

• ASP.NET Membership C# - How to compare existing password/hash

  I have been on this problem for a while. I need to compare a paasword that the user enters to a password that is in the membership DB. The password is hashed and has a salt. Because of the lack of documentation I do not know if the salt is append to the password and then hashed how how it is created. I am unable to get this to match. The hash returned from the function never matches the hash in the DB and I know for fact it is the same password. Microsoft seems to hash the password in a different way then I am. I hope someone has some insights please. • In .NET, What Is Fastest Way to Initialize Multi-Dimensional Array to Non-Default Value

  How do I initialize a multi-dimensional array of a primitive type as fast as possible? I am stuck with using multi-dimensional arrays. My problem is performance. The following routine initializes a 100x100 array in approx. 500 ticks. Removing the int.MaxValue initialization results in approx. 180 ticks just for the looping. Approximately 100 ticks to create the array without looping and without initializing to int.MaxValue. Routines similiar to this are called a few tens-of-thousands to several million times. I am open to suggestions on how to optimize this non-default initialization of an array. One idea I had is to use a smaller primitive type when available. For instance, using byte instead of int, saves 100 ticks.   Hi,Guys I got OutOfMemoryException after the app running for 1 day, the app totally use 1.5G memory , all consumed by managed heap, gen 2 used 200mb , and LOB used 1.3mb, however the weired thing is, 900mb of space are Free. from perf counter I saw there had number of gen 2 gc collection happened, why GC collector cannot collect those 900mb free space in gen2 and LOB?   I realize something like this has been asked, but this may be a little different Below is my Event object: Event : IEvent public int Id public string Title public List<EventContact> Contacts And EventContact: EventContact public int Id public string Name So, an Event has a list of EventContact' objects. Now, Event also implements IEvent - hence the custom model binder. I useIEventinstead of Event, so when the default model binder tries to do its thing, it lets me know it can't create anIEvent'. I have my view with populated with the contact info: <input type="text" name="contact[0].Name" value="DB Value"/> <input type="text" name="contact[1].Name" value="DB Value"/> <input type="text" name="contact[2].Name" value="DB Value"/> <!-- Event fields, etc --> So, in my custom model binder I am able to see all the value - sweet! The only thing is, I'm really not sure how to get all the contact fields and create a list of contacts from them, along with binding all the Event fields. Any and all help is appreciated!

• Securing against dynamic linking in .NET

  I want to deploy an application with a license attached. However, I want to prevent that my dll can be easily referenced in visual studio. What are the usual ways of doing this? I was thinking about ngen-ing the application to prevent this, however, then the code becomes architecture dependent. Im not targetting any other architecture/platform besides windows, however, ngen-ing the application after making a release build seems like a workaround to me. Are there any other techniques to achieve this?

Do you have any idea what the problem might be? I am assuming that since the code is exactly the same, there are no problems such as infinite loops ..... it seems that it just takes longer.   In my controller I have this: ViewData["maskList"] = new SelectList(equipmentRepository.GetMasks(), "Id", "DisplayName"); and then I bind it to my view using <div each="var nfa in mfa.NasalFittingAssessment"> ${Html.DropDownList("NasalMaskTypeId", ViewData["maskList"] as IEnumerable<System.Web.Mvc.SelectListItem>, new { class = "ddl" })} </div> Note that I'm using the spark view engine so this DropDownList is getting rendered to the page via a loop. This means that the selected value of the dropdown list will change on each iteration of the loop. What I can't work out is how to pass in the value I want to set the DropDownList to based on the value that is currently being rendered to the screen.

  I have a combobox inside a hidden div which I use css display = none to make it invisible, but when I make the div visible by setting display = block, the combobox just show the input and its button and ul list all have css as display = 'none', visibility ='hidden'. I can tell it is done by combobox inbuild javascript because I tried to use javascript to set the css manually with no luck. It is a bug of combobox. Urgent help needed. I spent a week to solve this, and our team put a lot trust on the toolkit. Please help me on this, all javascript gurus, thanks. Below is the code to reproduce the bug. I have a class which is having attribute "DataContract" on it but the method is not working with this attribute. I think "DataContract" is also a type of serializer but maybe different than that of "Serializable". Can anyone please give me the difference between the two? Also please let me know if it is possible to create a deepclone of an object with just 1 attribute which does the work of both "DataContract" and "Serializable" attribute or maybe a different way of creating a deepclone? Please help!

How do I extract only required fields from the CSV file?   I am getting the following error when I try to send an email in my C# program. I am using Visual Studio 2008 on windows 7.   Spreadsheetgear provides ability to create PrintPreview window - using WorkbookView.PrintPreview(). But it seems impossible to modify that window. That function returns void and there are no properties to control the visual content of that window. Please, say me I'm wrong.... Have I missed something?

Looking at the query using Profiler, I do not see my addition to the insert command. Questions: 1) Why is my addition to the insert command not making its way to the sql being executed on the database? 2) Is there a simpler way to have my DataSet refreshed with the identity values of the inserted rows? 3) Should I use the OnRowUpdated callback to add my child records? My plan was to loop through the rows after the Update() call and add children as needed. Thank you in advance. Rick

• XCode project complains about missing files if a linked framework contains private headers

  My Problem is this: My framework contains public and private headers - the public headers import private headers in the framework My app that links against this framework imports public headers Now when I compile it, XCode complains about missing files (the private headers that are indirectly imported via the frameworks public headers). I read somewhere on stackoverflow that I should do this: "In the public header file use @class to include other interfaces and use #import in the implementation file (.m)." I find this solution pretty unsatisfying - you have to use it for circular dependencies, too. Is there any better way to keep my headers private?
