Hidden youtube player loses its methods

I'm controlling a embedded youtube chromeless player with javascript, and I want to hide it occasionally by setting display: none. However, when I show the player again, it loses its youtube methods. Special characters stripped by mySQL/PHP JSON

Hi, I have a simple PHP script to extract data from a mySQL database and encode it as JSON. The problem is that special characters (for example German ä or ß characters) are stripped from the JSON response. Everything after the first special character for any single field is just stripped. The fields are set to utf8_bin, and in phpMyAdmin the characters display correctly. JQuery checkbox state is updated differently between group click() and $.each(obj.click())

I'm learning javascript. Poked around this excellent site to gather intel. Keep coming across questions / answers about javascript, JQUERY, JQUERY with AJAX, javascript with JQUERY, AJAX alone. My conclusion: these are all individually powerful and useful. My confusion: how does one determine which/which combination to use ? I've concluded that javascript is readily available on most browsers. For example, I can extend a simple HTML page with <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> document.write("Hello World!"); </script> </body> </html> However, within the scope of Python/DJANGO, many of these questions are JQUERY and AJAX related. At which point or under what development circumstances would I conclude that javascript alone isn't going to "cut it", and I need to implement JQUERY and/or AJAX and/or some other permutation ?

Get CruiseControl to talk to github with the correct public key.

Hi All, Has anybody installed git and ControlControl and got CruiseControl to pull from GitHub on a window 2003 server. I keep getting public key errors (access denied) - Which is good i suppose as that confirms git is talking to github. However what is not good is that I dont not know where to install the rsa keys so they will be picked up by the running process (git in the context of cc.net). Any help would save me a lot of hair! I have tried installing the keys into; c:\Program Files\Git.ssh Whereby running git bash and cd ~ take me to: c:\Program Files\Git Current error from CC.net is Error Message: ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly . Process command: C:\Program Files\Git\bin\git.exe fetch origin Thanks in advance

Inconsistent behavior working with "Flex on Rails" example.

I'm experimenting with Flex and Rails right now (Rails is cool). I'm following the examples in the book "Flex on Rails", and I'm getting some puzzling and inconsistent behavior. The Alert.show() also triggers. When I go out to a web browser and manually enter the url (http://localhost:3000/people.xml), the Mongrel console shows the request coming through and the browser shows the web response. No exceptions or other error messages occur. Whats the difference? Do I need to alter some OS setting? I'm using Win7 on an x64 machine.

Still don't understand file upload-folder permissions

I have checked out articles and tutorials. I don't know what to do about the security of my picture upload-folder. It is pictures for classifieds which should be uploaded to the folder. This is what I want: Anybody may upload images to the folder. The images will be moved to another folder, by another php-code later on (automatic). Only I may manually remove them, as well as another php file on the server which automatically empties the folder after x-days. What should I do here? The images are uploaded via a php-upload script. This script checks to see if the extension of the file is actually a valid image-file. When I try this: chmod 755 images the images wont be uploaded. But like this it works: chmod 777 images But 777 is a security risk right? Please give me detailed information... The Q is, what to do to solve this problem, not info about what permissions there are etc etc... Thanks If you need more info let me know...

Read IFrame content using JavaScript

Ok, This is my first time dealing seriously with IFrames and I cant seem to understand a few things: First the sample code I am testing with: <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function init(){ console.log("IFrame content: " + window.frames['i1'].document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].innerHTML); } </script> </head> <body onload="init();"> <iframe name="i1" src="foo.txt"/> </body> the file "foo.txt" looks like this: sample text file Questions: 1) The iframe seems to be behaving as a HTML document and the file text is actually part of the body instead. Why ? Is it a rule for an IFrame to be a HTML document. Is it not possible for the content of an iframe to be just plain text ?? 2) The file content gets wrapped inside a pre tag for some reason. Why is this so ? Is it always the case? 3) My access method in the javascript is working but is there any other alternative? [native js solutions please] If the content is wrapped in a pre tag always then I will actually have to lookup inside the pre tag rather than lookup the innerHTML

Memeory Leak in Windows Page file when calling a shell command

I have an issue on our Windows 2003 x64 Build Server when invoking shell commands from a script. Each call causes a "memory leak" in the page file so it grows quite rapidly until it reaches the maximum and the machine stops working. I can reproduce the problem very nicely by running a perl script like for ($count=1; $count<5000; $count++) { system "echo huhu"; } It is independent of he scripting language as the same happens with lua: for i=1,5000 do os.execute("echo huhu") end I found somebody describing the same issue with php at http://www.issociate.de/board/post/454835/Memory_leak_occurs_when_exec%28%29_function_is_used_on_Windows_platform.html His solution: Firewall/Virus Scanner does not apply, neither are running on the machine. We can also reproduce the issue on other Developer Machines running XP 64, but not on XP 32 Bit. I also found an article describing a leak situation in page file at http://www.programfragment.com/ The guilty guy for the allocation is C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs which runs all the basic Windows services. Does anybody know the issue and how to resolve it ?

View plain text files with different background colors in Mac OSX, for different programming languag

Hi, I work with Mac OS X Leopard. I usually have 5 or 10 text files opened at the same time with different programming languages; one for a bash script, another for a python one, etc. When I use exposé all of them look the same, so it is difficult to select them. I wonder how could I work with just plain text files in OSX, so when they are opened in an editor the background color changes or some other thign, so when using exposé it is clear to me which window belongs to what language. I thought about inserting some kind of info to the last line of each document, and then creat some applescript that converts it to RTF or someother text document which includes color in bacjground, so then it is opened with textmate or someother app. Do you know a better approach for this? Javascript array of dates - not iterating properly (jquery ui datepicker)

Hi I have some code which builds an array of date ranges. I then call a function, passing it a date, and compare that date with dates in the array. I'm doing it this way because the dates are stored in a cms, and I'm manipulating the JqueryUI datepicker. Unfortunately my code only checks the first date range in the array - and I can't figure out why! I think it's probably something simple (/stupid!) - if anyone can shed some light on it I'd be extremely grateful! JSP: Refresh ComboBox options

Hi, There's a class 'Car' with brand and model as properties. I have a list of items of this class List<Car> myCars. I need to represent in a JSP website 2 ComboBox, one for brand and another for model, that when you select the brand, in the model list only appear the ones from that brand. I don't know how to do this in a dynamic way. Any suggestion where to start? Thanks Update Ok, what I do now is send in the request a list with all the brand names, and a list of the items. Google Maps InfoBubble pixelOffset

I am trying to implement a custom infoBubble that has the box opening to the side of a marker. This has turned out to be harder than expected. Using the normal infoWindow you can use pixelOffset. See here for the documentation Using infoBubble this does not seem to be the case. Is there anyway of using pixelOffset in an infoBubble, or something that will do the same thing? Deleting dynamic pageviews using Javascript

Hi, I created dynamic tab creation application using telerik radstrip. I can delete the tabs that are creating dynamically using crossbar option. When i am deleting the tabs its just deleting the tabs but not pageview corresponding to the tab. I have tried to delete the pageviews but i am getting error like "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method" and pointing to multiPage.get_pageViews().remove(pageView); code. Can anyone help me how to delete pageviews. Thanks in advance. adding an uncertain number of fields using javascript

I'm new to javascript and a novice programmer, so this might be a really easy question to answer. I would like to loop over the values of x number of fields and add them up to display the sum in a final field. I can perform this function if I explicitly call each field, but I want to abstract this so I can deal with a flexible number of fields. Here's example code I've come up with (that's not working for me). Perl : how to interrupt/resume loop by user hitting a key?

Hi all: This is for debugging purpose. I've got a for loop that generates some output to Cygwin bash's CLI. I know that I can redirect outputs to text files and use Perl or even just a normal text editor to inspect the values printed out for a particular iteration, just feel that a bit painful. What I am now thinking is, to place a special subroutine inside the for loop, so that it would be "interrupted" at the beginning of each iteration, and Perl script should only resume to run after user/programmer hits a key(the Enter Key from keyboard?) In this way I can directly inspect the values printed out during each iteration. Is there a simple way to do this, without using additional libraries/CPAN ? Many thanks to the hints/suggestions in advance.
