• QGraphicsView and custom Cursors

  I am trying to make use of a mix of custom cursors and preset cursors for my QGraphicsView. In my implementation we have created a notion of "modes" for the view. Meaning that depending on what "mode" the user is in, different things will happen on the left-click, or left-click drag. Anyway, none of that is the problem, just the context. The problem arises when I try to change the cursor for each mode. For instance, for mode 1 we want to show the regular Arrow cursor, but for mode 2, we want to use a custom pixmap. Seemingly simple we call graphicsview->viewport()->setCursor(Qt::QArrowCursor)  when we are switching to mode 1, and graphicsview->viewport()->setCursor(our custom cursor) for mode 2. Except it doesn't work at all. Firstly, the cursor does not change to the custom cursor. That is the first problem. However, if through another operation the drag mode of the graphics view gets set to ScrollHandDrag, the cursor will switch to the custom cursor once the drag operation is complete. Weird. But the plot thickens... Once we switch to the custom cursor, it can never be changed back to the ArrorCursor no matter how many times we call setCursor(Qt::QArrowCursor). it also doesn't seem to matter whether I call setCursor on the viewport or the graphics view itself. So, just for fun, I added a call to graphicsview->unsetCursor() just before we want to change the cursor, and that at least rectifies the second problem. The cursor changes just fine so long as we do a little HandDragging in between. Better, but certainly not optimal. However it should be noted, that doing the unsetCursor on the viewport doesn't work. it must absolutely be done on the graphicsview - regardless of the fact that we are setting the cursor on the viewport. To completely patch over the problem I have added these two lines after I set the cursor: graphicsview->setDragMode(QGraphicsView::ScrollHandDrag); graphicsview->setDragMode(QGraphicsView::NoDrag); Which works, but ye gads!! So something magical is happening inside these two methods that fixes the problem, but glancing at the code I don't see what. Something to do with the fact that the drag mode is changing the cursor I imagine. Just for completeness, I should also mention that the thing that triggers the mode change, is a QPushButton that has been added to the scene using QGraphicsScene->addWidget(). I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but you never know. I am hoping that either someone could clarify why I need to make these seemingly random calls. I don't think I am doing anything wrong anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help. EDIT: Here is an actual code example with the cursor patches as described above. This is where the cursor is set in the graphics view. It is exactly as described above. Keep in mind, with the very ugly patches in place the cursors do work - more or less. Without those lines you will see very clearly the problems listed in the post above. Also included in the link, is all the code for a mainWindow that uses the view, etc... the only thing missing are the images I am using. But the images themselves don't matter, any 16x16 pngs will do.

  My app will allow users to create a personalised list of events from a large list of events. I have a table view which simply displays these events, tapping on one of them takes the user to the event details view, which has a button "add to my events". In this detailed view I own the original event object, retrieved via an NSFetchedResultsController and passed to the detailed view (via a table cell, the same as the core data recipes sample). I have no trouble retrieving/displaying information from this "event". I cant glean any more information through the use of debugging tools, with my knowledge of them. 1) Is this a valid way to compile and store an editable list like this? 2) Is there a better way? 3) What could possibly be the deallocated instance in error? -- I have now modified the Event entity to have a to-many relationship called "myEvents" which referrers to itself. I can add Events to this fine, and logging the object shows the correct memory addresses appearing for the relationship after a [event addMyEventObject:event];. The same failure happens right after this however. I am still at a loss to understand what is going wrong. I was fetching the event in question using a NSFetchedResultsController with a NSPredicate which I was releasing after I had the results. Retrieving values from the entities returned was no problem, but when I tried to update any of them it gave the error above. It should not have been released. oustanding part of my question What is a good way to create this sub list from a list of existing items in terms of a core data model. I don't believe its any of the ways I tried here. I need to show/edit it in another table view. Perhaps there is a better way than a boolean property on each event entity? The relationship idea above doesn't seem to work here (even though I can now create it). Cheers.

• All UITableCells rendered at once... why?

  I'm extremely confused by the proper behavior of UITableView cell rendering. Here's the situation: I have a list of 250 items that are loading into a table view, each with an image. To optimize the image download, I followed along with Apple's LazyTableImages sample code... pretty much following it exactly. Now, if I remove this line: //[self startIconDownload:appRecord forIndexPath:indexPath]; Then the system behaves exactly like you would expect: new images load as their placeholders scroll into view. However, the initial view cells do not automatically load their images without that prompt in the cell renderer. So, I have a problem: with the prompt in the cell renderer, all images load at once. Without the prompt, the initial view doesn't load. Now, this works fine in Apple sample code, which got me wondering what was going on with mine. It's almost like it was building all cells up front rather than just the 8 or so that would appear within the display. So, I got looking into it, and this is indeed the case... my table is building 250 unique cells! I didn't think the UITableView worked like this, I guess I thought it only built as many items as were needed to populate the table. Is this the case, or is it correct that it would build all 250 cells up front? Also – related question: I've tried to compare my implementation against the Apple LazyTableImages sample, but have discovered that NSLog appears to be disabled within the Apple sample code (which makes direct behavior comparisons extremely difficult). Is that just a simple publish setting somewhere, or has Apple somehow locked down their samples so that you can't log output at runtime? Thanks!

• ASP.net MVC DropLownList db.SaveChanges not saving selection

  I have looked through a ton of tutorials and suggestions on how to work with DropDownList in MVC. I was able to get most of it working, but the selected item is not saving into the database. I am using MVC 3 and Razor for the view. My DropDownList is getting created with the correct values and good looking HTML. When I set a breakpoint, I can see the correct selected item ID in the model getting sent to controller. When the view goes back to the index, the DropDownList value is not set. The other values save just fine. Here are the related views. • Create Views for object properties in model in MVC 3 application?

  I have an Asp.Net MVC 3 application with a database "Consultants", accessed by EF. Now, the Consultant table in the db has a one-to-many relationship to several other tables for CV type information (work experience, etc). So a user should be able to fill in their name etc once, but should be able to add a number of "work experiences", and so on. But these foreign key tables are complex objects in the model, and when creating the Create View I only get the simple properties as editor fields. How do I go about designing the View or Views so that the complex objects can be filled in as well? I picture a View in my mind where the simple properties are simple fields, and then some sort of control where you can click "add work experience", and as many as needed would be added. But how would I do that and still utilize the model binding? In fact, I don't know how to go about it at all. (BTW, Program and Language stand for things like software experience in general, and natural language competence, not programming languages, in case you're wondering about the relationships there). Any ideas greatly appreciated!   In my model (pins.rb), I have two sorting orders: default_scope order: 'pins.featured DESC' #for adding featured posts to the top of a list default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' #for adding the remaining posts beneath the featured posts This sorting order (above) is how I want my 'pins view' (index.html.erb) to look. Which is just a list of ALL user posts. In my 'users view' (show.html.erb) I am using the same model (pins.rb) to list only current_user pins. HOWEVER, I want to sorting order to ignore the "featured" default scope and only use the second scope: default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' How can I accomplish this? I tried doing something like this: default_scope order: 'pins.featured DESC', only: :index default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' But that didn't fly...   Hi everyone, I am writing a CakePHP application to log the work I do for various clients, but after trying for days I seem unable to get it to do what I want. I have read most of the book CakePHP's website. and googled for all I'm worth, so I presume I am missing something obvious! Every 'log item' belongs to a 'sub-project, which in turn belongs to a 'project', which in turn belongs to a 'sub-client' which finally belongs to a client. The Question When editing a 'log item' at www.mydomain/log_items/edit I am presented with the view you would all suspect; namely the columns of the log_items table with the appropriate textfields/select boxes etc. I would also like to incorporate select boxes to choose the client, sub-client, project and sub-project in the 'log_items' edit view. Ideally the 'sub-client' select box should populate itself depending upon the 'client' chosen, the 'project' select box should also populate itself depending on the 'sub-client' selected etc, etc. I guess the way to go about populating the select boxes with relevant options is Ajax, but I am unsure of how to go about actually accessing a model from the child view of a indirectly related model, for example how to create a 'sub-client' select box in the 'log_items' edit view. I have have found this example: http://forum.phpsitesolutions.com/php-frameworks/cakephp/ajax-cakephp-dynamically-populate-html-select-dropdown-box-t29.html where someone achieves something similar for US states, counties and cities. However, I noticed in the database schema - which is downloadable from the site above link - that the database tables don't have any foreign keys, so now I'm wondering if I'm going about things in the correct manner.   I am quite confused with how to effectively use the Html.DropDownList helper for ASP.NET MVC. Background: I have a 5-page form, which saves data to the form each time "Next" is clicked. Users may navigate back and forth between sections, so previous sections will already be pre-populated with previously-entered data. This works for TextBoxes. But not DropDownLists. • Application pool crashing regularly (8007006d) (Service Unavailable)

  I have a basic web form site running. Nothing out of the ordinary. It is frequently crashing the application pool. The error code I got from the logs is '8007006d'. Googling this does not come up with the usual bevy of results.... I do get a few people with a similar problem. Any the advise seems to be that the error is related to registry permissions. Can anyone confirm / disconfirm this theory. That if I get error 8007006d it is definately a reg permissions problem? Here is the code from my page. • Help debugging c fifos code - stack smashing detected - open call not functioning - removing pipes

  I have three bugs/questions regarding the source code pasted below: stack smashing deteced: In order to compile and not have that error I have addedd the gcc compile flag -fno-stack-protector. However, this should be just a temporary solution, since I would like to find where the cause for this is and correct it. However, I haven't been able to do so. Any clues? For some reason, the last open function call doesn't work and the programs just stops there, without an error, even though the fifo already exists. I want to delete the pipes from the filesystem after before terminating the processes. I have added close and unlink statements at the end, but the fifos are not removed. What am I doing wrong? • Facebook android app keeps crashing even though there are no errors in my code. Why?

  If you import the facebook SDK library, the code works (ignore the deprecated methods for now lol) and there are no errors or warnings. However, when I run my facebook app on my Android 2.2 or 4.2 emulator, the app crashes either upon opening or after the log on screen. Why? Is it because I'm not implementing Async Task? If so, how does that work? • Cocos2d score resetting is messing up (long post warning)

  The score is not resetting right at all,I am trying to make a high score counter where every time you passed previous high score it will update.However, right now it is resetting during the game. For example if I had high score of 2 during the game it will take 3 points just to put it up to 3 as high score instead of keep going up until it is game over. I have came to the conclusion that I need to reset it in gameoverlayer so it won't reset during game.   I have been trying to resolve my issue of spiking cpu caused by php-fpm processes. I've reduced the php-fpm config settings to: pm = ondemand pm.max_children = 12 pm.start_servers = 2 pm.min_spare_servers = 2 pm.max_spare_servers = 10 pm.max_requests = 500 php_admin_value[memory_limit] = 128M Problem still exists. I'm running a Joomla main site (which is having no problems) and a Magento store in a sub-directory. My server is a Linux CentOS, running NGINX, APC, Memcached, Full Page Cache and php-fpm. My server has 8 cores and 16gb dedicated ram. My host has shut down my server several times the past week because my php-fpm processes are consuming the entire network. A lot of the individual php-fpm processes are getting over 50% cpu. I've hired several "professionals" and none of them was able to help me, so now broke and stumped, I'm turning to you guys for help. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. table_cache=4096 I just noticed that someone changed my innodb_buffer_pool_size to 512M. Shouldn't this be set to 80% of available ram? So I have 16gb ram so it should be set at 12G; however, I set it at 10G. What do you think? I made that change and restart everything. Php-fpm is still spiking cpu.   I found something contradictory in Oracle VM. Clustered server pool creation in Oracle VM would format my FC LUN as ocfs2 , and start o2cb & ocfs2 services to build cluster environment. After that, when I wanted to create repository on the serverpool, unexpectedly, it told me that the physical disk I chose which is also my FC LUN, already contains a file system. What a contradictory! So what, delete the file system in serverpool? If so, why created it before?!   Hello ! I have tried to sett my DC to get its time from several NTP severs. First I disable Time Synchronization in the Hyper-V Integration Services for each guest. Then restart the Windows Time serviceon the guest. I had before this used this command: w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:"ntp.uio.no;timekeeper. uio.no;nissen.uio.no;0.no.pool.ntp.org;1.no.pool.ntp.org;2.no.pool.ntp.org" /syn cfromflags:manual /reliable:yes /update And the cmd sad: The command completed successfully. But the time was still 10 min wrong... I run w32tm again after restarted the DC without it having any effect.   I have a small pile of Sun V20z computers. I was trying to update the SP and BIOS firmwares in order to bring them all up to the same standard -- mostly to get the updated (ie actually useful) SP functionality, and figured that I would just do the BIOS while I was at it. For three of the four computers, it worked perfectly. However after the BIOS update, the fourth system won't boot. I did this: batch05-mgmt $ sp get mounts Local Remote /mnt 10.16.0.8:/export/v20z batch05-mgmt $ platform set os state update-bios /mnt/sw_images/platform/firmware/bios/V1.35.3.2/bios.sp This command may take several minutes. Please be patient. Bios started Bios Flash Transmit Started Bios Flash Transmit Complete Bios Flash update Progress: 7 Bios Flash update Progress: 6 Bios Flash update Progress: 5 Bios Flash update Progress: 4 Bios Flash update Progress: 3 Bios Flash update Progress: 2 Bios Flash update Progress: 1 Bios Flash update complete batch05-mgmt $ platform set power state on This command may take several minutes. Please be patient. After an hour of waiting, it still won't start. The chassis powers on, but beyond the fans spinning up and the hardware POST of the drives, nothing appears to happen. So if I try to re-flash the BIOS (on the theory that maybe something went wrong): batch05-mgmt $ platform set os state update-bios /mnt/sw_images/platform/firmware/bios/V1.35.3.2/bios.sp This command may take several minutes.
