• Union struct produces garbage and general question about struct nomenclature

    - by SoulBeaver
I read about unions the other day( today ) and tried the sample functions that came with them. Easy enough, but the result was clear and utter garbage. The first example is: union Test { int Int; struct { char byte1; char byte2; char byte3; char byte4; } Bytes; }; where an int is assumed to have 32 bits. After I set a value Test t; t.Int = 7; and then cout cout << t.Bytes.byte1 << etc... the individual bytes, there is nothing displayed, but my computer beeps. Which is fairly odd I guess. The second example gave me even worse results. union SwitchEndian { unsigned short word; struct { unsigned char hi; unsigned char lo; } data; } Switcher; Looks a little wonky in my opinion. Anyway, from the description it says, this should automatically store the result in a high/little endian format when I set the value like Switcher.word = 7656; and calling with cout << Switcher.data.hi << endl The result of this were symbols not even defined in the ASCII chart. Not sure why those are showing up. Finally, I had an error when I tried correcting the example by, instead of placing Bytes at the end of the struct, positioning it right next to it. So instead of struct {} Bytes; I wanted to write struct Bytes {}; This tossed me a big ol' error. What's the difference between these? Since C++ cannot have unnamed structs it seemed, at the time, pretty obvious that the Bytes positioned at the beginning and at the end are the things that name it. Except no, that's not the entire answer I guess. What is it then?

  • log4j support in Android

    - by Travis
I am attempting to shoehorn an existing SDK onto an android device and one of the dependencies of said SDK is Apache log4j. I am able to load my test program onto the android emulator but when the log4j object "PropertySetter" is called the program fails with a verification exception. Is there a way to ameliorate this issue?

  • Is there iPhone simulator on iPhone SDK 3.2?

    - by Eonil
I'm considering upgrade SDK 3.1.3 to 3.2 because 3.1.3 disappeared on Apple's website. I used 3.2 SDK beta once, and any project launched iPad simulator only. (even iPhone project) Is there iPhone simulator on SDK 3.2? Or how to test iPhone app on SDK 3.2? PS. I have to check this before install because this is my main workstation, so I cannot put this into unstable or unusable state.

  • bbcode hyperlink issue

    - by Jorm
I'm having an annoying :) I use regexes from this: http://forums.codecharge.com/posts.php?post_id=77123 if you enter [url]www.bob.com[/url] it leads too http://localhost/test/www.bobsbar.com So I added before http://$1 in the replacement. That fix it but then [url]http://www.bob.com[/url] will lead to http://http://www.bobsbar.com How would you fix this? I want my users to be able to post links with AND without http:// and i want it to redirect to the site -_- Hope you understand this. Jorm

  • problem solving [closed]

    - by Suresh S
    Problem Statement The Sports Associations in India (SAI) wants to choose 2 teams of 4 people each to send to Asian games. There are 13 people who want to be members of the teams. The SAI tries grouping them in various ways to see which athletes perform well together. Each grouping gets one test run on the test track and their time is recorded. Your task is to help the SAI choose two disjoint teams of 4 such that the sum of their practice times is minimal. Input There will be several input instances. The first line of each instance gives the total number of practice runs. This will be followed by n lines. Each of those lines will contain 5 numbers: p1 p2 p3 p4 t t is the time taken (in milliseconds) by the team consisting of p1, p2, p3 and p4. The time taken will not be more than 2 minutes. The end of the input will be indicated by a line with n=0. Output Output the best total and the two teams that you choose. If it is impossible to choose two disjoint teams from the test runs given, output -1. Sample Input 6 1 2 3 4 30000 10 11 12 13 15000 5 6 7 8 37800 1 5 10 12 20000 5 6 9 11 43000 1 9 12 13 11000 3 1 4 7 9 10000 3 5 7 11 17890 6 7 12 13 20000 0 Sample Output 45000 -1 Input to the problem 40 2 8 11 9 15532 1 13 11 9 57629 10 12 1 5 43406 6 10 1 2 43904 8 3 4 11 12473 6 12 5 11 19826 3 9 10 11 48347 6 12 13 1 45854 5 4 9 7 34452 9 8 12 2 5596 4 10 2 7 6778 3 6 8 5 32858 13 12 8 6 42457 12 9 2 5 49530 6 8 10 7 51453 1 3 11 9 18620 6 2 5 11 5153 4 1 9 8 37336 10 5 1 12 59524 4 5 3 2 1318 2 13 6 8 7839 12 4 9 5 30697 4 10 13 1 25249 4 2 9 13 52359 8 11 1 9 36437 7 5 11 6 58522 9 1 12 6 58837 7 6 8 5 37826 13 1 11 3 1841 11 3 5 13 50000 2 8 7 12 10137 1 4 12 5 32558 8 5 6 7 39021 1 7 10 13 5979 9 2 11 6 29661 13 12 9 7 7219 12 1 11 9 37354 5 1 10 9 47948 8 1 2 10 11071 2 11 1 8 3074 80 3 5 8 10 37873 1 2 3 5 27633 10 13 3 11 8645 13 1 9 6 2167 5 11 13 8 30862 8 7 9 6 47591 3 11 13 8 33823 2 13 7 5 36668 12 3 11 6 53711 6 13 3 7 52412 3 6 7 5 3850 1 5 11 12 35483 1 7 6 10 50943 11 3 6 8 40191 12 8 13 7 4529 4 10 5 1 43280 4 12 10 5 35142 12 4 5 10 37242 9 7 13 2 2661 3 9 2 10 453 3 8 12 9 12479 3 10 11 5 30047 9 1 11 2 40883 6 5 1 2 8774 11 7 9 1 37701 8 3 4 6 32970 4 12 7 10 55109 8 11 13 12 44713 2 10 8 5 37763 13 10 12 2 53628 7 2 5 10 53197 3 2 1 11 14916 1 2 3 10 50756 3 13 5 6 6959 10 6 1 4 2948 4 7 13 9 14146 8 13 10 2 16784 3 2 6 5 30337 1 6 7 8 14239 2 6 11 5 13749 12 1 10 5 30827 4 6 11 8 18780 9 10 8 5 6336 7 9 1 3 3101 10 3 4 13 56678 7 6 3 8 8258 11 7 12 6 19046 13 6 9 8 46356 9 5 11 13 56570 9 1 10 5 6193 8 6 9 11 16854 3 7 4 9 53573 8 12 10 1 28135 10 3 8 4 31411 11 1 3 12 34534 8 6 4 13 3527 1 6 10 9 52307 11 7 1 12 2886 12 11 1 6 17659 13 5 6 8 48834 11 2 1 10 52951 3 9 13 7 21054 1 5 11 9 14507 11 5 12 4 42040 1 6 12 7 46414 5 12 3 10 26239 6 10 7 8 40762 8 11 6 10 38538 13 1 10 7 31140 9 10 13 4 34164 13 6 7 12 49696 6 13 3 5 36003 8 9 13 6 58409 3 10 7 9 20693 2 1 11 12 22653 5 8 4 7 49888 5 3 2 11 29911 8 12 6 9 30964 8 3 13 6 23597 4 1 6 7 31657 4 6 8 7 13 33639 13 8 10 3 27863 5 2 1 12 1408 4 11 1 12 59010 63 10 11 9 8 23611 10 8 6 11 12410 4 6 7 9 44390 8 4 1 6 16543 1 2 8 10 37452 11 12 6 13 28968 11 12 2 8 59617 1 9 11 2 28631 11 6 5 1 27251 2 7 10 4 42503 7 8 10 3 13673 9 13 11 7 30308 6 1 12 9 4888 13 1 9 8 19475 8 7 3 5 34187 8 1 12 3 46266 6 10 12 5 32855 3 7 13 1 38427 2 5 13 3 59487 6 11 1 13 2098 1 4 13 6 22239 13 7 12 3 28703 12 3 7 4 32 9 8 2 13 35271 10 13 6 12 36422 12 6 9 8 44303 1 9 13 11 22962 11 13 6 12 39518 5 6 13 11 47909 4 13 1 8 10654 11 8 12 4 31956 7 12 9 13 35923 4 9 3 2 34736 13 2 10 1 22945 7 10 8 13 36947 1 4 12 13 19432 7 12 13 4 48718 9 5 13 11 18827 11 2 1 12 45444 8 12 6 13 33175 4 2 11 13 56186 2 9 3 11 33218 12 13 8 1 50727 13 1 8 2 48138 7 1 5 3 1926 6 4 10 1 40997 11 3 1 4 26033 6 10 13 1 40988 11 12 5 4 25199 4 3 1 10 23498 3 6 12 7 24306 13 10 12 3 53255 3 13 4 12 14517 7 10 9 3 29925 9 11 12 13 28333 3 5 13 6 13602 13 12 9 6 10394 8 4 12 6 57471 9 3 4 7 34723 11 9 5 3 38480 12 9 10 11 48048 4 3 6 7 31884 2 10 4 5 57654 86 1 6 5 13 56577 6 8 2 5 20429 11 13 9 3 2243 3 1 10 12 55231 9 5 7 8 29964 5 11 8 1 29624 6 9 3 1 43055 12 13 10 8 52132 10 8 4 1 5729 7 3 6 8 53097 11 12 7 1 18711 12 7 6 13 44397 10 12 5 7 53574 5 3 4 13 27078 11 2 5 10 43623 3 7 1 8 57350 10 12 4 9 19752 5 13 9 3 59380 4 7 13 6 32575 7 5 6 11 13593 13 7 12 6 38282 13 7 6 2 45430 6 2 5 10 38082 2 11 13 7 53557 10 6 7 13 40461 6 11 7 1 22007 4 7 2 3 22386 9 7 11 10 35337 2 6 11 7 4129 6 13 5 3 31813 1 11 6 9 11749 5 11 8 13 21858 5 12 9 11 2470 13 10 6 11 14503 8 4 1 3 10783 1 10 12 7 47116 11 1 8 10 25034 8 1 4 9 23350 3 10 1 9 56717 13 2 8 12 5825 12 3 13 7 35628 10 6 1 12 26901 2 13 3 5 2775 1 8 9 7 1294 7 13 12 2 48170 11 9 13 1 34311 9 6 3 13 30663 8 3 10 6 5853 1 10 2 4 19880 9 2 3 12 48990 3 7 11 4 51558 8 13 2 4 9698 9 4 5 1 6834 3 4 12 2 20941 11 3 9 7 40108 13 11 2 4 2594 8 9 10 13 12242 1 8 10 5 42413 7 1 11 3 17779 1 5 8 3 6934 4 9 8 11 10235 8 11 10 2 18879 11 4 8 2 12691 9 7 5 2 44947 3 2 5 4 30042 2 7 12 4 27185 6 5 10 1 28695 12 9 1 5 53813 8 12 9 3 24719 6 1 4 11 22716 1 13 10 8 39981 12 11 5 2 22412 6 11 2 4 14457 4 11 5 3 39658 10 11 2 1 33056 1 3 6 9 16958 6 11 12 7 50779 8 10 6 13 24824 7 10 1 13 35692 13 4 8 9 32885 7 6 4 3 10948 4 5 7 1 36875 5 10 6 7 58746 10 7 8 12 39453 8 4 12 1 46674 11 3 1 8 48103 0

  • Avoiding denormal values in C++

    - by Nathan
Hi, After search a long time for a performance bug, I read abut denormal foating point values. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo and I am compiling with gcc, using "-O2". So what do I do? Can I somehow instruct g++ to avoid denormal values? If not, can I somehow test if a float is denormal? Thanks! Nathan

  • jquery - establishing truths when loading inline javascript via AJAX

    - by yaya3
I have thrown together a quick prototype to try and establish a few very basic truths regarding what inline JavaScript can do when it is loaded with AJAX: index.html

Content not loaded by ajax

loaded-by-ajax.html
Some content loaded by ajax

Some content loaded by ajax

Some content loaded by ajax
Notes: a) All of the above (except the first) successfully change the colour of all the paragraphs (in firefox 3.6.3). b) I've used alert instead of console.log as console is undefined when called in the 'loaded' HTML. Truths(?): $(document).ready() does not treat the 'loaded' HTML as a new document, or reread the entire DOM tree including the loaded HTML JavaScript that is contained inside 'loaded' HTML can effect the style of existing DOM nodes One can successfully use the jQuery library inside 'loaded' HTML to effect the style of existing DOM nodes One can not use the firebug inside 'loaded' HTML can effect the existing DOM (proven by Note a) Am I correct in deriving these 'truths' from my tests (test validity)? If not, how would you test for these?

  • Rails AtomFeedBuilder Entry :Url option appears in url tag but not in link tag

    - by Nick
Hello, I'm using the AtomFeedHelper and everything is working fine except for one feed where I need to link each entry to a URL which is not the default polymorphic_url for the record. Per the documentation I've specified an :url option for the entry. This correctly renders a
tag in the atom node but the <link rel="alternate" still points to the default polymorphic_url. Looking at the source and the documentation I don't understand why this is happening. Here's an example builder: atom_feed do |feed| feed.title("Reports") feed.updated(@reports.first.created_at) for report in @reports content = report.notes feed.entry(report) do |entry| entry.title(report.title) entry.content(content, :type => 'html') entry.url("http://myhost/page/") entry.updated(report.updated_at.strftime("%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%SZ")) entry.author do |author| author.name(report.user.username) end end end end Here's an example of a problem node:

Test Title

Test Content

I wan the href value in the link tag to match the value in the url tag but it does not. When I look at the source listed for entry here http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionView/Helpers/AtomFeedHelper/AtomFeedBuilder.html I'd assume that this line would work correctly: @xml.link(:rel => 'alternate', :type => 'text/html', :href => options[:url] || @view.polymorphic_url(record)) Confused. Has anyone encountered this before? Thanks all!

  • F# Add Constructor to a Record?

    - by akaphenom
    Basically I want to have a single construct to deal with serializing to both JSON and formatted xml. Records workd nicley for serializing to/from json. However XmlSerializer requires a parameterless construtor. I don't really want to have to go through the exercise of building class objects for these constructs (principal only). I was hoping there could be some shortcut for getting a parameterless constructor onto a record (perhaps with a wioth statement or something). I can't get it to behave - has anybody in the community had any luck? module JSONExample open System open System.IO open System.Net open System.Text open System.Web open System.Xml open System.Security.Authentication open System.Runtime.Serialization //add assemnbly reference System.Runtime.Serialization System.Xml open System.Xml.Serialization open System.Collections.Generic [<DataContract>] type ChemicalElementRecord = { [<XmlAttribute("name")>] [<field: DataMember(Name="name") >] Name:string [<XmlAttribute("name")>] [<field: DataMember(Name="boiling_point") >] BoilingPoint:string [<XmlAttribute("atomic-mass")>] [<field: DataMember(Name="atomic_mass") >] AtomicMass:string } [<XmlRoot("freebase")>] [<DataContract>] type FreebaseResultRecord = { [<XmlAttribute("code")>] [<field: DataMember(Name="code") >] Code:string [<XmlArrayAttribute("results")>] [<XmlArrayItem(typeof<ChemicalElementRecord>, ElementName = "chemical-element")>] [<field: DataMember(Name="result") >] Result: ChemicalElementRecord array [<XmlElement("message")>] [<field: DataMember(Name="message") >] Message:string } let getJsonFromWeb() = let query = "[{'type':'/chemistry/chemical_element','name':null,'boiling_point':null,'atomic_mass':null}]" let query = query.Replace("'","\"") let queryUrl = sprintf "http://api.freebase.com/api/service/mqlread?query=%s" "{\"query\":"+query+"}" let request : HttpWebRequest = downcast WebRequest.Create(queryUrl) request.Method <- "GET" request.ContentType <- "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" let response = request.GetResponse() let result = try use reader = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()) reader.ReadToEnd(); finally response.Close() let data = Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(result); let stream = new MemoryStream() stream.Write(data, 0, data.Length); stream.Position <- 0L stream let test = // get some JSON from the web let stream = getJsonFromWeb() // convert the stream of JSON into an F# Record let JsonSerializer = Json.DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof<FreebaseResultRecord>) let result: FreebaseResultRecord = downcast JsonSerializer.ReadObject(stream) // save the Records to disk as JSON use fs = new FileStream(@"C:\temp\freebase.json", FileMode.Create) JsonSerializer.WriteObject(fs,result) fs.Close() // save the Records to disk as System Controlled XML let xmlSerializer = DataContractSerializer(typeof<FreebaseResultRecord>); use fs = new FileStream(@"C:\temp\freebase.xml", FileMode.Create) xmlSerializer.WriteObject(fs,result) fs.Close() use fs = new FileStream(@"C:\temp\freebase-pretty.xml", FileMode.Create) let xmlSerializer = XmlSerializer(typeof<FreebaseResultRecord>) xmlSerializer.Serialize(fs,result) fs.Close() ignore(test)

  • Should I mix wxpython and pyobjc ?

    - by Anurag Uniyal
I have a wxPython based app which I am porting to Mac OS X, in that I need to show some alerts which should look like native mac alerts, so I am using pyobjc for that e.g. import Cocoa import wx app = wx.PySimpleApp() frame = wx.Frame(None, title="mac alert test") app.SetTopWindow(frame) frame.Show() def onclick(event): Cocoa.CFUserNotificationDisplayAlert(0, 3, 0, 0, 0, "Should i mix wxpython and objc", "hmmm...", "Cool", "Not Cool", "Whatever") frame.Bind(wx.EVT_LEFT_DOWN, onclick) app.MainLoop() Is there any thing wrong in such mixing of wx and objc code, any failure points ?

  • Setting up NCover for NUnit in FinalBuilder

    - by Lasse V. Karlsen
I am attempting to set up NCover for usage in my FinalBuilder project, for a .NET 4.0 C# project, but my final coverage output file contains no coverage data. I am using: NCover 3.3.2 NUnit 2.5.4 FinalBuilder 6.3.0.2004 All tools are the latest official as of today. I've finally managed to coax FB into running my unit tests under NCover for the .NET 4.0 project, so I get Tests run: 184, ..., which is correct. However, the final Coverage.xml file output from NCover is almost empty, and looks like this: <coverage profilerVersion="3.3.2.6211" driverVersion="3.3.2" exportversion="3" viewdisplayname="" startTime="2010-04-22T08:55:33.7471316Z" measureTime="2010-04-22T08:55:35.3462915Z" projectName="" buildid="27c78ffa-c636-4002-a901-3211a0850b99" coveragenodeid="0" failed="false" satisfactorybranchthreshold="95" satisfactorycoveragethreshold="95" satisfactorycyclomaticcomplexitythreshold="20" satisfactoryfunctionthreshold="80" satisfactoryunvisitedsequencepoints="10" uiviewtype="TreeView" viewguid="C:\Dev\VS.NET\LVK.IoC\LVK.IoC.Tests\bin\Debug\Coverage.xml" viewfilterstyle="None" viewreportstyle="SequencePointCoveragePercentage" viewsortstyle="Name"> <rebasedpaths /> <filters /> <documents> <doc id="0" excluded="false" url="None" cs="" csa="00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" om="0" nid="0" /> </documents> </coverage> The output in FB log is: ... ***************** End Program Output ***************** Execution Time: 1,5992 s Coverage Xml: C:\Dev\VS.NET\LVK.IoC\LVK.IoC.Tests\bin\Debug\Coverage.xml NCover Success My configuration of the FB step for NCover: NCover what?: NUnit test coverage Command: C:\Program Files (x86)\NUnit 2.5.4\bin\net-2.0\nunit-console.exe Command arguments: LVK.IoC.Tests.dll /noshadow /framework:4.0.30319 /process=single /nothread Note: I've tried with and without the /process and /nothread options Working directory: %FBPROJECTDIR%\LVK.IoC.Tests\bin\Debug List of assemblies to profile: %FBPROJECTDIR%\LVK.IoC.Tests\bin\Debug\LVK.IoC.dll Note: I've tried just listing the name of the assembly, both with and without the extension. The documentation for the FB step doesn't help, as it only lists minor sentences for each property, and fails to give examples or troubleshooting hints. Since I want to pull the coverage results into NDepend to run build-time analysis, I want that file to contain the information I need. I am also using TestDriven, and if I right-click the solution file and select "Test with NCover", NCover-explorer opens up with coverage data, and if I ask it to show me the folder with coverage files, in there is an .xml file with the same structure as the one above, just with all the data that should be there, so the tools I have is certainly capable of producing it. Has anyone an idea of what I've configured wrong here?

  • .NET 4 SpinLock

    - by Jon Harrop
The following test code (F#) is not returning the result I'd expect: let safeCount() = let n = 1000000 let counter = ref 0 let spinlock = ref <| SpinLock(false) let run i0 i1 () = for i=i0 to i1-1 do let locked = ref false try (!spinlock).Enter locked if !locked then counter := !counter + 1 finally if !locked then (!spinlock).Exit() let thread = System.Threading.Thread(run 0 (n/2)) thread.Start() run (n/2) n () thread.Join() !counter I'd expect the SpinLock to mutually exclude the counter and, therefore, for it to return counts of 1,000,000 but, instead, it returns smaller values as if no mutual exclusion is occurring. Any ideas what's wrong?

  • Strange Integer.parseInt exception

    - by Albinoswordfish
Exception in thread "Thread-2" java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "3" int test = Integer.parseInt(result[0]); This is the error I keep getting when I'm trying to convert "3" to an integer. Well I'm receiving this "3" through a RS-232 port, so maybe this is what is causing the error. If anybody has any idea what could be causing this it would be appreciated.

  • Preventing browser loading indicator with Chrome + GWT-rpc.

    - by Jeeyoung Kim
Hello. I'm writing a ajax chatting webapp, just to test working with GWT. To simulate server side push of chat messages from the server to the browser, I have a XHR request running behind. It all works fine - except on Chrome, the browser is displaying a loading icon (a spinner) because of the XHR request on background. Is there any way to avoid this? I've tested it in Firefox, and it doesn't display such behavior.
