• How to convert the amount of indentation in a source code file?

  I find that I now often work with code bases that have different amounts of indentation. Some use 2 spaces, some use 4 space, some even use tabs! Once in a while, I have to share code between these codebases, or, sometimes I use an incorrect amount of indentation by mistake. Is there a tool or a text editor feature that will convert between different amounts of indentation?

  I need to dynamically load a CSS stylesheet into a page that's on a different domain. How can I get the complete URL of the JS file to use in the href attribute of the stylesheet? For instance, here is the structure: http://bla.com/js/script.js http://bla.com/css/style.css I want to dynamically load the stylesheet into a page http://boo.net/index.html. The problem is, I don't know the bla.com bit in advance, just the fact that the stylesheet is in ../css/ relative to the JS file. The script is, of course, included on index.html. jQuery's fine too.

• Handling "other" option in dropdown select with free text input field

  Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle a dropdown list where one of the options "other" shows a hidden text field (via jQuery), where the user can then enter text. Should both the dropdown and the input field be given the same "name" attribute, then server side code runs a check on the values of each in order to know what one is the active value - e.g if the value of the select box is "other", then check the value of the text input field - if this isn't the default value ("enter text"), then it's ok to use this value and save it to the database. Is this a messy approach to this problem?

  Does anyone know of a stand-alone tool for C# code cleaning/auditing that can run outside of Visual Studio IDE so as to be part of a build. Or if that isn't possible can someone provide some guidance as to how to make Visual Studio part of a build process -- by that I mean it would be nice to run the IDE's Sort and Remove unused using statements on all files as part of the build, but even better would be an exe that can read the .sln, or .csproj and do the job as part of build system. • Problem with $.get while submitting form

  I'm trying to verify that an Account Name is not already in use once a user fills out a form. The code looks like: $("#add_account").submit( function () { $.get( "'.url::site("ajax/check_account_name").'", {account_name: "t"}, function(data){ alert( data ); }); }); I get a $.get response if the statement sits like this: $(document).ready( function () { $.get( "'.url::site("ajax/check_account_name").'", {account_name: "t"}, function(data){ alert( data ); }); }); Which leads me to believe that my $.get statement is correct. Is there some jQuery rule I'm not familiar with that would cause this to fail in on submit scenario? In code block 1, I get values returned like they should. Block 2 gives me a blank response. Any ideas? Thanks for your time, I know you have better things to be doing.

• sortable + draggable demo - how to get access to dropped item?

  Hi, I have a sortable list. When a new item is dropped into the list (from a draggable), I'd like to get access to it to perform some operations on it. This is what I have: $("#mySortableList").sortable({ receive: function(event, ui) { alert("this is the dropped item: " + ui.item.toString()); } }).disableSelection(); so "ui.item" is the element that was dropped, but it's not the duplicated item that will now be part of my list. • Javascript + IFrame + Chrome + Https = strange issue

  Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result. • Advice regarding Java frameworks [closed]

  I am in the process of creating a website/phone application using JQuery Mobile and PhoneGap. I am hoping to add openID support so users can login in with pre-existing accounts. It will be necessary for me to have a database with a few tables to enable me to implement all the core functionality I desire. I haven't really had much experience with frameworks before, the closest thing I have done to this is create a basic website using php that connected to a MySql database stored on the machine that hosted the apache webserver. The interaction with the database won't be complex. I am required to use a java framework for the backend of my application. My question is which java framework is most suitable (flexible and straight forward to learn)? Any advice you guys can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks

• Need advice on multitab form in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi all, i need an advice on how to implement my form. I have a requirement: i need a form that spans through 5 tabs. Each tab has around 10 fields, some of them empty, some of them must contain data from db and be non editable. Each of these tabs must be a part of one form that is submitted to my controller. The question is: what is the best way to implement this? I was thinking about having partial views on each tab, each view would have its own model class. After form gets filled all data from all partials would go to action that will take care of all of it. Any advices? I am using ASP.NET MVC 1, Entity Framework 1, mvc extensions from Telerik and jQuery

• can not find out if the div element is already set in body in chrome extension

  in my chrome extension I got an div, which I will add to the body of the current tab. I am listening to chrome.tabs.onUpdated. If this event is called, I execute a script inside content_scripts. In this function there I´ll wait till the document is ready with jQuery $(document).ready(...). I try to access $("#div").length and sometimes it returns 1 and sometimes 0. It should added to the body, if it´s not already there. For some strange reasons, the onUpdated event is called twice on each page reload. Actually I found no way to check safely if the div was already added.

  I have my views render to route requests like /controller/action (for instance, /Page/Create), so pretty classic. I am creating a form where view will be loaded through AJAX request with jQuery get(), so essentially I need my Views or to be precise, my controller actions, to return plain HTML string when an AJAX request is made to the route that renders the View. I want to use the same views as for normal requests, so I cannot afford to create any new views. It is something like calling RenderPartial("MyViewUserControl") but from inside the JS code.

• Page layout breaks only in Opera which is weird?

  Okay so I'm working on an admin panel, in which everything should always be only within the view port until you hit the minimum widths and heights set. The current version of it can be seen here (its still in development) : http://qwibbledesigns.co.uk/preview/Admin/ In layout terms, it works flawlessly in all browsers, even down to ie6 =D. However, opera doesn't like it, and for some reason, always add's extra space to the bottom of the page, making it have an extra scrollbar, and I can't fathom it out which is highly annoying. Jquery is used to set the height of the container, sidebar, and content area so that they're always within the browser view port, and these functions rerun when the window is resized. I therefore cannot work out the the life of me what's wrong with opera. Would anyone mind taking a look and seeing if they can work it out? =D

  Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this? • Show AJAX content after images have loaded

  I am developing my own lightbox kind of jquery plugin. Everything works but I want to hide the loaded content until the images have loaded in the browser from the AJAX call. I found a similar post and I am using the following script but the setTimeout function is what reveals the content and not the .load function. • What do you wish you could've learned sooner?

  What things, methods, workflows, etc. can you not live without today and wish you had learned of a long time ago? For example, learning some basic Ubuntu and using my debugger properly in the IDE have made a huge difference to me and are together probably the two things that I most wish I had done a long time ago. Using a debugger just seems like common sense now to many of us, but to those that are in a early stage of their career it might not. (I'm a good example of that.)
