  • Var null and not an object when using document.getElementById

    - by Dean
    Hi, I'm doing some work in HTML and JQuery. I have a problem of my textarea and submit button not appearing after the radio button is selected. My HTML looks like this: <html> <head><title>Publications Database | Which spotlight for Publications</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="./jquery.js"></script> <script src="./addSpotlight.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script> </head> <body> <div class="wrapper"> <div class="header"> <div class="headerText">Which spotlight for Publications</div> </div> <div class="mainContent"> <p>Please select the publication that you would like to make the spotlight of this month:</p> <form action="addSpotlight" method="POST" id="form" name="form"> <div class="div29" id="div29"><input type="radio" value="29" name="publicationIDs" >A System For Dynamic Server Allocation in Application Server Clusters, IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processsing with Applications, 2008 </div> <div class="div30" id="div30"><input type="radio" value="30" name="publicationIDs" >Analysing BitTorrent's Seeding Strategies, 7th IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Embedded and Ubiquitous Computing (EUC-09), 2009 </div> <div class="div31" id="div31"><input type="radio" value="31" name="publicationIDs" >The Effect of Server Reallocation Time in Dynamic Resource Allocation, UK Performance Engineering Workshop 2009, 2009 </div> <div class="div32" id="div32"><input type="radio" value="32" name="publicationIDs" >idk, hello, 1992 </div> <div class="div33" id="div33"><input type="radio" value="33" name="publicationIDs" >sad, safg, 1992 </div> <div class="abstractWriteup" id="abstractWriteup"><textarea name="abstract"></textarea> <input type="submit" value="Add Spotlight"></div> </form> </div> </div> </body> </html> My javascript looks like this: $(document).ready( function() { $('.abstractWriteup').hide(); addAbstract(); }); function addAbstract() { var abstractWU = document.getElementById('.abstractWriteup'); $("input[name='publicationIDs']").change(function() { var abstractWU = document.getElementById('.abstractWriteup'); var classNameOfSelected = $("input[name='publicationIDs']").val(); var radioSelected = document.getElementById("div"+classNameOfSelected); var parentDiv = radioSelected.parentNode; parentDiv.insertBefore(radioSelected, abstractWU.nextSibling); $('.abstractWriteup').show(); });}; I have developed this by using Node#insertBefore. When I have had it working it has been rearranging the radio buttons. Thanks in Advance Dean

  • HTML/JS/CSS issue getting bigger by itself

    - by Azzyh
    Here's the picture to begin with. I have this check box, that when you check, then with jQuery toggle(); it hides that you see in first half of the picture (#writeComment) and shows #SCtryVOTE (what you see in the other half picture, to the right). Now i dont know why but of some reason it expands when its checked, why i dont know, is it because it needs more place than it have or? how do i make this work without having problems when its checked. Here's coding: $('#tryout').click(function () { $('#writeComment').toggle(!$(this).attr('checked')); $('#SCtryVOTE').toggle($(this).attr('checked')); }); the js jquery script part, heres the table and divs HTML part: <input type="checkbox" id="tryout"> <table align="center" width="400" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1" id="theBoxer"> <tr style="background: #686868;"> <td align="center" valign="top" width="70" height="25" style="border:1px #FFF solid;">Opret</td> <td align="center" valign="top" width="70" height="25" style="border:1px #FFF solid;">Opret</td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top" width="70" height="112" style=""> TEST </td> <td align="left" valign="top" width="70" height="112" style=""> <div id="writeComment"> Smid en kommentar:<br> <form action="javascript:DoInsert()" method="post"> <textarea id="kommentar" name="kommentar"></textarea><br /> <input type="hidden" name="fID" id="fID" value="<? echo $_GET["id"]; ?>"> <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Sæt ind!"> </form> </div> <div id="SCtryVOTE" style="display: none;"> <form onsubmit="if (!this.comment.cleared) clearContents( document.getElementById('comment') ); return true;" action="javascript:DoSCInsert()" method="post"> <textarea onfocus=" javascript:clearContents(this); this.cleared=true;" rows="5" cols="40" id="comment" name="comment" <?php if($vis["username"] == $pusername) { echo "DISABLED"; } ?>>Tryk for at skrive. Skal være detaljeret og grundet.</textarea> <br>Ja: <input type="radio" value="Y" id="SCvoteY" name="vote"></input> Nej: <input type="radio" id="SCvoteN" value="N" name="vote"> </input> <input type="submit" id="SCstem" name="Submit" value="Stem!"> </form> </div> Maybe you need the CSS part too for these two boxes: #writeComment{ position: relative; left: 5px; top: 10px; } #SCtryVOTE{ position: relative; left: 5px; top: 10px; }

  • Why doesn't the Gtalk plugin work in Firefox 3.6 betas? [closed]

    - by etlovett
    I've done a quick Google search, Bugzilla search, and glanced at Google's site for the GTalk plugin, but I can't find an answer, so I thought I'd pose the question here: On OS X, in the Firefox 3.6 betas (I'm now on beta 5, but it's been happening since at least beta 3), the GTalk plugin doesn't work for me. I've been completely unable to use video chat in GChat, which forces me to open Firefox 3.5 whenever I want to use it. This happens even after I uninstall/reinstall the GTalk plugin. Anyone know why this is happening?

  • Vim: How to install plugin for a particular filetype?

    - by ronnie
    Yesterday I came across jedi-vim plugin which provides auto-completion for python. I installed the plugin using pathogen by placing it in bundle directory and it is working fine. Now, as I have mentioned that this plugin is only for filetype: python so I want to load it only when I open files with .py extensions and not when I open other files like .java, .perl, .sh. So, how can this be achieved. I am a vim beginner/noob but I googled before asking and found that this can be achieved using vim ftplugin but I have no idea whatsoever where to place which file.

  • How to specify an SSH key for Hudson with git plugin?

    - by jlpp
    I've got Hudson (continuous integration system) with the git plugin running on a Tomcat Windows Service. msysgit is installed and the msysgit bin dir is in the path. PuTTY/Pageant/plink are installed and msysgit is configured to use them. The trouble I'm running in to, I think, is that the user who owns the Tomcat/Hudson service (Local System) has no SSH key set up to be able to clone the git repository. When the git Hudson plugin tries to clone it gives the error: $ git clone -o origin git@hostname:project.git "e:\HUDSON_HOME\jobs\Project Trunk\workspace" ERROR: Error cloning remote repo 'origin' : Could not clone git@hostname:project.git ERROR: Cause: Error performing git clone -o origin git@hostname:project.git e:\HUDSON_HOME\jobs\Project Trunk\workspace Trying next repository ERROR: Could not clone from a repository FATAL: Could not clone hudson.plugins.git.GitException: Could not clone My question is, how can I set things up so that the git plugin/msysgit know to use a particular SSH private key when trying to clone? I don't think Pageant will work because the Tomcat service is running as the "Local System" user, but I may be wrong.

  • ASP.NET: Dynamically enable or disable RequiredFieldValidator based on value of DropDownList

    - by Jeremy
    I have an ASP.NET form with three text inputs, one each for "Work Phone", "Home Phone" and "Cell Phone". Each of these text inputs has a RequiredFieldValidator associated with it. I also have a DropDownList where the user can select the preferred phone type. I want to only require the field that is selected in the DropDownList. For example, if the user selects "Work Phone" from the DropDownList, I want to disable the RequiredFieldValidator for "Home Phone" and "Cell Phone", thereby only making the "Work Phone" field required. I have a method that enables and disables these validators based on the value of the DropDownList, but I cannot figure out when to call it. I want this method to run before the validation takes place on the page. How would I do that? Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks.

  • How to fix Jersey POST request parameters warning?

    - by Brabster
    I'm building a very simple REST API using Jersey, and I've got a warning in my log files that I'm not sure about. WARNING: A servlet POST request, to the URI http://myserver/mycontext/myapi/users/12345?action=delete, contains form parameters in the request body but the request body has been consumed by the servlet or a servlet filter accessing the request parameters. Only resource methods using @FormParam will work as expected. Resource methods consuming the request body by other means will not work as expected. My webapp only has the Jersey servlet defined, mapped to /myapi/* How can I stop these warnings?

  • JSF submit dataTable and openpopup window after? is this possible?

    - by raimun
    Is it possible to just submit a dataTable instead of the entire form and then open a popupwindow after the submit? My dataTable has textboxes in it and the popup window is actually dependent on the data/values found in these textboxes. Since the user can change the values of the textboxes, I am required to get the latest values from the dataTables before the popup is opened. the popup is opened through a button found in each row of the datatable. i am using JSF2. thanks.

  • Zend RegEx Validator error message issue

    - by Mallika Iyer
    Hello, I'm validating a text field in my form as follows: $name = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('name'); $name->setLabel('First Name:') ->setRequired(true) ->addFilter(new Zend_Filter_StringTrim()) ->addValidator('regex',true,array('/^[(a-zA-Z0-9)]+$/')) ->addErrorMessage('Please enter a valid first name'); What I'm trying to accomplish is - how can i display a meaningful error message? Eg: If first name is 'XYZ-', how can i display '- is not allowed in first name.' Is there a way I can access what character the regex is failing for? Would you recommend something else altogether? I thought about writing a custom validator but the regex is pretty simple, so I don't see the point. I couldn't find a decent documentation for the zend 'regex' validator anywhere. If I don't override the default error message, I simple get something like : ';;;hhbhbhb' does not match against pattern '/^[(a-zA-Z0-9)]+$/' - which I obviously don't want to display to the user. I'd appreciate your inputs.

  • PRoblem with converting form_tag in rails

    - by Gigg
    I am new to ruby and rails and I am having a problem from Beggining Ruby on Rails Ecommerce. (Yes, its an old book). • Zend framework currency validation

    - by Dan
    How can I validate (a form element in this case) to ensure that the value is a currency? Have looked at Zend_Validate_Float. Needs to check that value is between 0 and 2dp. Ideally locale-aware (as ZVF is) to allow for locale specific formatting (thousands, decimal as comma/dot) Would also want to extend to allow/disallow negative values And provide optional upper/lower limits. Is the key, as I can do 3. and 4. with a chain. Do I need regex?

  • Integrating Windows Form Click Once Application into SharePoint 2007 &ndash; Part 2 of 4

    - by Kelly Jones
    In my last post, I explained why we decided to use a Click Once application to solve our business problem. To quickly review, we needed a way for our business users to upload documents to a SharePoint 2007 document library in mass, set the meta data, set the permissions per document, and to do so easily. Let’s look at the pieces that make up our solution.  First, we have the Windows Form application.  This app is deployed using Click Once and calls SharePoint web services in order to upload files and then calls web services to set the meta data (SharePoint columns and permissions).  Second, we have a custom action.  The custom action is responsible for providing our users a link that will launch the Windows app, as well as passing values to it via the query string.  And lastly, we have the web services that the Windows Form application calls.  For our solution, we used both out of the box web services and a custom web service in order to set the column values in the document library as well as the permissions on the documents. Now, let’s look at the technical details of each of these pieces.  (All of the code is downloadable from here: )   Windows Form application deployed via Click Once The Windows Form application, called “Custom Upload”, has just a few classes in it: Custom Upload -- the form FileList.xsd -- the dataset used to track the names of the files and their meta data values SharePointUpload -- this class handles uploading the file SharePointUpload uses an HttpWebRequest to transfer the file to the web server. We had to change this code from a WebClient object to the HttpWebRequest object, because we needed to be able to set the time out value.  public bool UploadDocument(string localFilename, string remoteFilename) { bool result = true; //Need to use an HttpWebRequest object instead of a WebClient object // so we can set the timeout (WebClient doesn't allow you to set the timeout!) HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(remoteFilename); try { req.Method = "PUT"; req.Timeout = 60 * 1000; //convert seconds to milliseconds req.AllowWriteStreamBuffering = true; req.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; req.SendChunked = false; req.KeepAlive = true; Stream reqStream = req.GetRequestStream(); FileStream rdr = new FileStream(localFilename, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); byte[] inData = new byte[4096]; int bytesRead = rdr.Read(inData, 0, inData.Length); while (bytesRead > 0) { reqStream.Write(inData, 0, bytesRead); bytesRead = rdr.Read(inData, 0, inData.Length); } reqStream.Close(); rdr.Close(); System.Net.HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); if (response.StatusCode != HttpStatusCode.OK && response.StatusCode != HttpStatusCode.Created) { String msg = String.Format("An error occurred while uploading this file: {0}\n\nError response code: {1}", System.IO.Path.GetFileName(localFilename), response.StatusCode.ToString()); LogWarning(msg, "2ACFFCCA-59BA-40c8-A9AB-05FA3331D223"); result = false; } } catch (Exception ex) { LogException(ex, "{E9D62A93-D298-470d-A6BA-19AAB237978A}"); result = false; } return result; } The class also contains the LogException() and LogWarning() methods. When the application is launched, it parses the query string for some initial values.  The query string looks like this: string queryString = "Srv=clickonce&Sec=N&Doc=DMI&SiteName=&Speed=128000&Max=50"; This Srv is the path to the server (my Virtual Machine is name “clickonce”), the Sec is short for security – meaning HTTPS or HTTP, the Doc is the shortcut for which document library to use, and SiteName is the name of the SharePoint site.  Speed is used to calculate an estimate for download speed for each file.  We added this so our users uploading documents would realize how long it might take for clients in remote locations (using slow WAN connections) to download the documents. The last value, Max, is the maximum size that the SharePoint site will allow documents to be.  This allowed us to give users a warning that a file is too large before we even attempt to upload it. Another critical piece is the meta data collection.  We organized our site using SharePoint content types, so when the app loads, it gets a list of the document library’s content types.  The user then select one of the content types from the drop down list, and then we query SharePoint to get a list of the fields that make up that content type.  We used both an out of the box web service, and one that we custom built, in order to get these values. Once we have the content type fields, we then add controls to the form.  Which type of control we add depends on the data type of the field.  (DateTime pickers for date/time fields, etc)  We didn’t write code to cover every data type, since we were working with a limited set of content types and field data types. Here’s a screen shot of the Form, before and after someone has selected the content types and our code has added the custom controls:     The other piece of meta data we collect is the in the upper right corner of the app, “Users with access”.  This box lists the different SharePoint Groups that we have set up and by checking the boxes, the user can set the permissions on the uploaded documents. All of this meta data is collected and submitted to our custom web service, which then sets the values on the documents on the list.  We’ll look at these web services in a future post. In the next post, we’ll walk through the Custom Action we built.

    - by Milan
    Hello everybody! I need to make dynamic web-page/form in JSF. Dynamic: In runtime I get the number of input fields Ill have together with buttons. • Algorithm for evaluating nested logical expression

    - by TravelingSalesman
    I have a logical expression that I would like to evaluate. The expression can be nested and consists of T (True) or F (False) and parenthesis. The parenthesis "(" means "logical OR". Two terms TF beside each others (or any other two combinations beside each others), should be ANDED (Logical AND). For example, the expression: ((TFT)T) = true I need an algorithm for solving this problem. I thought of converting the expression first to disjunctive or conjunctive normal form and then I can easily evaluate the expression. However, I couldn't find an algorithm that normalizes the expression. Any suggestions? Thank you. The problem statement can be found here: https://icpcarchive.ecs.baylor.edu/index.php?option=com_onlinejudge&Itemid=2&category=378&page=show_problem&problem=2967

  • Using PHP script to fill in XML

    - by Yaaqov
    Hi - we are all familiar with "embedding" PHP scripts in HTML pages to do tasks like displaying form results, but how can that be done in a way that displays XML? For example, if I wrote: <? xml version='1.0' ?> <Responses> <?php $body = $_GET['Body']; $fromPh = $_GET['From']; echo echo "<Msg>Your number is: $fromPh, and you typed: $body.</Msg>" ?> </Response> I get a message that states "parse error, unexpected T_STRING on line 1". Any help or tutorials would be appreciated.

  • Access - how to derive a field upon entry of a record

    - by jonos
    I have an Access database for a media rental company which includes the following tables, among others; LOAN: customer_id (pk), loan_datetimeLeant (pk), loan_dateReturned (pk) LOAN_ITEMS: customer_id (pk), loan_datetimeLeant (pk), item_id (pk), loanItem_cost ITEM: item_id (pk), product_id, item_availability PRODUCT: product_id (pk), product_name, product_type MEDIA_COST: product_type (pk), product_cost So basically the 'product type' (DVD, VHS etc) determines the cost. The 'product id' determines what movie, platform etc each item is. My question is: When creating a form for the Loan_Items table, how can I populate the loanItem_cost field (so it is stored) whenever a new Loan_Item record is added? I need to store it as the cost of the item (product_cost) may change over time and I'd like to record what the customer paid at the time the loan was made. Thanks in advance

  • Select list auto update on any kind of change?

    - by Tom Irons
    I have a jQuery that when you click on a select option it will show the next one, but you have to click, you cant just use the down arrow or "tab" to the next option. Here is my jQuery: function typefunction() { var itemTypes = jQuery('#type'); var select = this.value; itemTypes.change(function () { if ($(this).val() == '1-Hand') { $('.1-Hand').show(); $('.2-Hand').hide(); $('.off').hide(); $('.Armor').hide(); } else $('.1-Hand').hide(); if ($(this).val() == '2-Hand') { $('.2-Hand').show(); $('.1-Hand').hide(); $('.off').hide(); $('.Armor').hide(); } else $('.2-Hand').hide(); if ($(this).val() == 'Armor') { $('.Armor').show(); $('.2-Hand').hide(); $('.off').hide(); $('.1-Hand').hide(); } else $('.Armor').hide(); if ($(this).val() == 'Off-Hand') { $('.Off').show(); $('.2-Hand').hide(); $('.1-Hand').hide(); $('.Armor').hide(); } else $('.Off').hide(); if ($(this).val() == '1-Hand') { $('.one-hand-dps').show(); $('.item-armor').hide(); $('.two-hand-dps').hide(); } else $('.one-hand-dps').hide(); if ($(this).val() == '2-Hand') { $('.two-hand-dps').show(); $('.one-hand-dps').hide(); $('.item-armor').hide(); } else $('.two-hand-dps').hide(); if ($(this).val() == 'Armor') { $('.item-armor').show(); $('.one-hand-dps').hide(); $('.two-hand-dps').hide(); } else $('.item-armor').hide(); }); } And the HTML: <div class="input-group item"> <span class="input-group-addon">Type</span> <select id="type" name="type" class="form-control" onclick="typefunction(); itemstats(); Armor(); OffHand(); TwoHand();"> <option value="Any Type">Any Type</option> <option value="1-Hand">1-Hand</option> <option value="2-Hand">2-Hand</option> <option value="Armor">Armor</option> <option value="Off-Hand">Off-Hand</option> </select> </div> <div class="input-group item"> <span class="1-Hand input-group-addon" style="display: none;">Sub-Type</span> <select class="1-Hand form-control" name="sub[1]" style="display: none;"> <option value="All 1-Hand Item Types">All 1-Hand Item Types</option> <option>Axe</option> <option>Ceremonial Knife</option> <option>Hand Crossbow</option> <option>Dagger</option> <option>Fist Weapon</option> <option>Mace</option> <option>Mighty Weapon</option> <option>Spear</option> <option>Sword</option> <option>Wand</option> </select> </div> <div class="input-group"> <span class="2-Hand input-group-addon" style="display: none; ">Sub-Type</span> <select class="2-Hand form-control" name="sub[2]" style="display: none;"> <option>All 2-Hand Item Types</option> <option>Two-Handed Axe</option> <option>Bow</option> <option>Diabo</option> <option>Crossbow</option> <option>Two-Handed Mace</option> <option>Two-Handed Mighty Weapon</option> <option>Polearm</option> <option>Staff</option> <option>Two-Handed Sword</option> </select> </div> <div class="input-group"> <span class="Armor input-group-addon" style="display: none;">Sub-Type</span> <select class="Armor form-control" name="sub[3]" style="display:none;"> <option>All Armor Item Types</option> <option>Amulet</option> <option>Belt</option> <option>Boots</option> <option>Bracers</option> <option>Chest Armor</option> <option>Cloak</option> <option>Gloves</option> <option>Helm</option> <option>Pants</option> <option>Mighty Belt</option> <option>Ring</option> <option>Shoulders</option> <option>Spirit Stone</option> <option>Voodoo Mask</option> <option>Wizard Hat</option> </select> </div> <div class="input-group"> <span class="Off input-group-addon" style="display: none;">Sub-Type</span> <select class="Off form-control" name="sub[4]" style="display:none;"> <option>All Off-Hand Item Types</option> <option>Mojo</option> <option>Source</option> <option>Quiver</option> <option>Shield</option> </select> </div>

  • Wordpress custom pages CMS

    - by all-R
    Hi guys, I'm considering Wordpress as my CMS platform for a client site I'm doing at the moment. However, I need to create a couple of custom 'modules'. One of these modules is a form that people will be able to complete and have a quote, and once submitted, in a special place in the Wordpress panel (like a menu or something), there will be a listing of all the submitted quotes (just fetching it from a table in my database). Another one is to manage a cafeteria menu, so the client can add a different meal to each day of the week. I know perfectly how to do this kind of things using some kind of MVC framework and doing it 'by-hand', but I'm just wondering if this would be possible to do with WP and if yes, what kind of tools I'll have to use. Thanks

  • zend framework error

    I started getting the following error today, but don't know why and what caused it. [31-May-2010 03:52:10] PHP Fatal error: Cannot run code from this file in conjunction with non encoded files in ZendFramework-1.10.5/library/Zend/Validate/Hostname/Com.php on line 547 I'm using zend framework version 1.10.5; although version 1.09 also has the same problem. I only get this error in my production server, and cannot duplicate it from anywhere else. Also note that I only get this error when I submit form with recaptcha. If I remove recaptcha, it works fine. Any help is appreciated.

  • Suspend file validation on Zend Framework

    - by dimitris mistriotis
    Hi, Currently on my application I have a form where I ask the user to upload an image file to be used as a logo. I want to allow the user to reset that to nothing by supplying no file (by just pressing the upload button from the browser). In this scenario the only thing left is to suspend file validation when no file is included. Currently I get the *self::NO_FILE* error from the *Zend_Validate_File_Upload* class. Is there any way to suspend the validation so that nothing will be checked if no file has been provided?

How do I do this? $(document).ready(function () { var maxlines = 15; var lineheight = 15; // line height in 'px' var maxheight = (maxlines * lineheight); var allowedExtraLines = 3; var showText = "EXPAND"; var hideText = "CLOSE"; $('.ranking').each(function () { var text = $(this); if (text.height() > maxheight + allowedExtraLines * lineheight) { text.css({ 'overflow': 'hidden', 'line-height': lineheight + 'px', 'height': maxheight + 'px' }); var link = $('<a href="#">' + showText + '</a>'); link.click(function (event) { event.preventDefault(); if (text.css('height') == 'auto') { $(this).html(showText); text.css('height', maxheight + 'px'); } else { //$(this).remove(); $(this).html(hideText); text.css('height', 'auto'); } }); var linkDiv = $('<div></div>'); linkDiv.append(link); $(this).after(linkDiv); } }); });

  • rails check_box_tag value is NULL

    - by looloobs
    Hi I am not sure why I am having this problem, maybe I am using the check_box_tag incorrectly. I have a form that is used to send an email message. You are supposed to be able to choose one or more boxes that represent different groups of people. <%= check_box_tag (:bcc_email, value = @spouses) %> <%= f.label :bcc_email, "Company Spouses" %><br /> <%= check_box_tag (:bcc_email, value = @soldiers) %> <%= f.label :bcc_email, "Company Soldiers" %><br /> The values are an array of email addresses. Those work fine, I have had them functioning as drop down menus for sometime. When I look at the HTML page source the values are there, they are just not being passed along with the create method. Any ideas?
