Hi,
I have .net 3.5 SP1 and VS 2008 SP1 installed in my machine. But what should I further install to create an Entity framework project. Is there any other add ons that is needed?
With alle the new paralell programming features in .NET 4.0, what would be a a simple and fast way to implement the producer-consumer pattern (where at least one thread is producing/enqueuing task items and another thread executes/dequeues these tasks). Can we benfit from all these new APIs? What is your preferred implementation of this pattern?
Hello,
How do I create non visual components in .NET that can be dragged and dropped onto a Form ?
For example the imagelist component is a non visual component, it appears in the toolbox and can be dragged onto a form and properties can be set for that component.
How can I achieve that ? How can I create non visual components. I know about user controls but that is not what I am looking for.
Thank you
I am looking for a Java equivalent to .NET's Snippet Compiler. Is there any such utility out there? That or a really light weight Java IDE for Windows? Eclipse and NetBeans seem too heavy-weight to practice basic syntax.
Hi Guys!!

Hi all,
I'm looking for a .net library that will enable me to extract block attributes out of a autocad file. I don't mind paying for a developers licence but I should be able to freely redistribute the library itself without additional costs.
Is there a lib that suits my needs?
greetings,
Coen
Hai guys,
I ve developed a salary calculating software using vb.net.... Its working fine and i ve converted it to an exe file... My drawback is it can be copied and pasted in another system very easily... I want to generate a key for the exe file and while installing the key should be used and when installation is completed ,the key should not be used again... Is this ya secured one or give me some ideas how it can be done....
Hi Folks, does it matter if we install .net framework & then visual studio or does visual studio comes with the framework ?
I know it's a basic question but i never thought of this honestly.
TIA
i am publishing an app in vb.net. it's creating setup.exe and a folder called application files. i am told that setup.exe is stand alone and does not need any other files. is this right? because when i put setup.exe in a different directory it says that some files are missing.
Is there a quick way to check whether a path I have is on a local disk or somewhere on the network? I can't just check to see if it's a drive letter vs. UNC, because that would incorrectly identify mapped drives as local. I assumed it would be a boolean in the DirectoryInfo object, but it appears that it's not.
I've found classic VB code to do this check (through an API), but nothing for .NET so far.
Like, if I write a program on windows using C# and the .NET framework, then drop the code on a Linux machine running mono, will it run exactly the same? Or would I have to rewrite it to work with Mono's libraries?
Could some tell me the difference between 32bit and 64bit .NET assemblies?
I understand when it is needed to be precise instead of selecting AnyCPU configuration.
Regards,
Mita
Need Help in converting this to VB.NET

Hi there,
I'm in the need for a SCP library (free or commercial) to be used in a .Net 3.5 project. I've already had a look at SharpSSH but it lacks the a couple of basic features (like enumerating all files in a remote directory). Do you know a good, solid and cheap library?
With plain old sdl in C i would copy the dlls i need into the exe directory and was able to run without install.
Now i am using sdl.net. I tried doing that but had no luck. Not even a clue to what dlls are missing as i did in the old C way. How can i have users run my sdl app without installation?
Hi to all.
I need a free library (or not too expensive) for .NET to work with the excel document. I need to read data, modify, save and add charts into the document.
Or in another way, I need a free library for creating and inserting charts into the excel document (only for charts).
I have found FlexCel and SmartXLS, but FlexCel doesn't support the charts (can't create), while SmartXLS has a small functionality.
Thanks for any help.
There are many Logging frameworks for .NET, from simple Debug.WriteLine and Trace to Log4Net, Logging application block, NLOg and others.
Which one do you use or recommend, and why?
Also, which one would you recommend to NOT use, and why?
I need to calculate averages, standard deviations, medians etc for a bunch of numerical data. Is there a good open source .NET library I can use? I have found NMath but it is not free and may be overkill for my needs.
Assuming daily certain up to date database is produced via loading from various sources.
Changes need to be applied to historical database based on uid, new records will added , non existing will be softly deleted , some will be updated. Is Ado.Net and Sql statements the most appropriate technology for the task like this ?
Hi there,
I need to create a .Net windows service to monitor a mailbox and process attachments (if found) on the emails and then delete the email from the server.
I have two questions I'd like your thoughts on:
POP3 or IMAP to connect to the mail server?
Which POP3/IMAP library should I use. At this stage we're just doing a proof of concept, so a free one would be my preference.
Cheers!
Is there a way to embed multiple dependent assemblies into a single one for projects written on the following platform types: Windows Store Apps, Windows Phone 8, Portable Class Library?
I know that for regular .Net projects there is ILMerge, but on the aforementioned project types it doesn't work. Embedding assemblies as resources and then manually resolving the references using AppDomain.CurrentDomain.AssemblyResolve is not possible either, since AppDomain is not available in these types of project.
I need to use the RGBRast software renderer for a DirectX application I'm developing. Currently I'm just including the DLL with my install.
I have read a few places that it is also included with .NET 3.5 SP1. Is this true? If so, where is the DLL located?
This redistributable component can be downloaded from:

Hello
I have a .NET CF project. In the project directory I put a simple xml file (users.xml) which has to be read by the device. When I debug the application on device emulator and try to load the file from code, the Exception is thrown (FileNotFoundException "Could not find file '\users.xml'.").
Is there a mechanism to automatically deploy also configuration files to a device emulator?
