  Hi! I have problem with setting proper charset on my jsf pages. I use MySql db with latin2 (ISO-8859-2 charset) and latin2_croatian_ci collation. But, I have problems with setting values on backing managed bean properties. Page directive on top of my page is: <%@ page language="java" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-2" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2" %> In head I included: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2"> And my form tag is: <h:form id="entityDetails" acceptcharset="ISO-8859-2"> I've created and registered Filter in web.xml with following doFilter method implementation: public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException { request.setCharacterEncoding("ISO-8859-2"); response.setCharacterEncoding("ISO-8859-2"); chain.doFilter(request, response); } But, i.e. when I set managed bean property through inputText, all special (unicode) characters are replaced with '?' character. I really don't have any other ideas how to set charset to pages to perform well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

• How to make Nlog archive a file with the date when the logging took place.

  Hi, We are using Nlog as our logging framework and I cannot find a way to archive files the way I want. I would like to have the date of when the logging took place in the logging file name. Which cause frustration when you want to read logs later. It also seems like I have to have atleast on # in the archiveFileName, which I rather not. So if you got a solution for that also I would be twice as thankful =)

• How do you Access an Authenticated Google App Engine Service with Ruby?

  I am trying to do this same thing here but with Ruby: Access Authenticated GAE Client with Python. Any ideas how to retrieve authenticated content from GAE with Ruby? I am using the Ruby GData Gem to access everything in Google Docs and such and it's making life very easy, but now I'd like to access things on GAE that require admin access, programmatically, and it doesn't support that. • How to Create Deterministic Guids

  In our application we are creating Xml files with an attribute that has a Guid value. This value needed to be consistent between file upgrades. So even if everything else in the file changes, the guid value for the attribute should remain the same. One obvious solution was to create a static dictionary with the filename and the Guids to be used for them. Then whenever we generate the file, we look up the dictionary for the filename and use the corresponding guid. But this is not feasible coz we might scale to 100's of files and didnt want to maintain big list of guids. So another approach was to make the Guid the same based on the path of the file. Since our file paths and application directory structure are unique, the Guid should be unique for that path. So each time we run an upgrade, the file gets the same guid based on its path. I found one cool way to generate such 'Deterministic Guids' (Thanks Elton Stoneman). It basically does this: private Guid GetDeterministicGuid(string input) { //use MD5 hash to get a 16-byte hash of the string: MD5CryptoServiceProvider provider = new MD5CryptoServiceProvider(); byte[] inputBytes = Encoding.Default.GetBytes(input); byte[] hashBytes = provider.ComputeHash(inputBytes); //generate a guid from the hash: Guid hashGuid = new Guid(hashBytes); return hashGuid; } So given a string, the Guid will always be the same.   Hi all, I want to write some integration tests to see how my spring-managed DAO's behave when talking to the appengine datastore. Following the spring manual I will be providing my test-classes with the proper annotations: @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) @ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:applicationContext.xml" }) After a lot of browsing I found this blog post dating back to august '09 from somebody doing exactly what I want to achieve. It involves writing a TestEnvironment class that implements ApiProxy.Environment plus talking to ApiProxyLocalImpl. However, if I look at the current docs (for version 1.3.1), it seems that this has been replaced by newing an instance of the framework provided LocalDatastoreServiceTestConfig which is passed to a LocalServiceTestHelper. It is too bad that the appengine docs don't show an example how to do this with JPA because then the spring wiring would be trivial. Trying to follow the route outlined in the blog posting has me running into a compiler messages telling me that classes such as ApiProxyLocalImpl are not visible by me. Hence, there must be a new way of doing it, which probably involves the LocalServiceTestHelper. My question: Does anybody know how? I know I will need to configure an EntityManagerFactory and provide it with the Datastore connection somehow... but how? :)

• Adapting existing HTML/Javascript model to Titanium's latest release (v 0.9)

  In pre-0.9 versions of Titanium, one could simply specify an .html file (local or remote) in the tiapp.xml file and interact with it in the same manner as one would on a website. As of version 0.9, that is no the longer case. One creates their entire app dynamically. Unfortunately, this broke my previous implementation and, other than an updated Kitchen Sink, much of the new model and API calls are not covered in the documentation (e.g., createLabel). So, my question is this... What are the simplest steps for re-creating the previous effect (knowingly forgoing some of the advantages of the Titanium's latest approach if necessary)? My previous implementation was exactly as it functions on the website. The website has a single index.html file with no content other than links to JavaScript and style files. The document body's onload event called the first JavaScript function (located in the main script) and, from that point forth, the entire content was dynamically created. How can I set up the latest version of Titanium so that I am poised to do the exact same thing? BTW: Whereas I previously had the choice to keep the files local or remote, I don't believe that remote access (e.g., simply using the webView widget to point to the website) is viable. That's because pages displayed via the webView do not have access to most of the API. Since the iPhone and Safari browsers do not support the file input type, the only means for uploading files (something my app requires) is calling Titanium's function. Thanks in advance.

• How to build an android test app with a dependency on another app using ant?

  I have a module called MyApp, and another module called MyAppTests which has a dependency on MyApp. Both modules produce APKs, one named MyApp.apk and the other MyAppTests.apk. I normally build these in IntelliJ or Eclipse, but I'd like to create an ant buildfile for them for the purpose of continuous integration. I used "android update" to create a buildfile for MyApp, and thanks to commonsware's answer to my previous question I've been able to build it successfully using ant. I'd now like to build MyAppTests.apk using ant. I constructed the buildfile as before using "android update", but when I run it I get an error indicating that it's not finding any of the classes in MyApp. Taking a que from my previous question, I tried putting MyApp.apk into my MyAppTests/libs, but unfortunately that didn't miraculously solve the problem. • window.onload seems to trigger before the DOM is loaded (JavaScript)

  I am having trouble with the window.onload and document.onload events. Everything I read tells me these will not trigger until the DOM is fully loaded with all its resources, it seems like this isn't happening for me: I tried the following simple page in Chrome 4.1.249.1036 (41514) and IE 8.0.7600.16385 with the same result: both displayed the message "It failed!", indicating that myParagraph is not loaded (and so the DOM seems incomplete). <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = doThis(); // document.onload gives the same result function doThis() { if (document.getElementById("myParagraph")) { alert("It worked!"); } else { alert("It failed!"); } } </script> </head> <body> <p id="myParagraph">Nothing is here.</p> </body> </html> I am using more complex scripts than this, in an external .js file, but this illustrates the problem. I can get it working by having window.onload set a timer for half a second to run doThis(), but this seems like an inelegant solution, and doesn't answer the question of why window.onload doesn't seem to do what everyone says it does. Another solution would be to set a timer that will check if the DOM is loaded, and if not it will just call itself half a second later (so it will keep checking until the DOM is loaded), but this seems overly complex to me. Is there a more appropriate event to use?

• Perf4j Not Logging to Separate File

  I setup some stop watch calls in my code to measure some code blocks and all the messages are going into my primary log and not into the timing log. The perfStats.log file gets created just fine but all the messages go to the root log which I didn't think was supposed to happen according to the docs I've read. Is there something obvious I'm missing here? • Spring @PostConstruct function in a @Repository called multiple times

  I have a DAO that I'm trying to inject into a couple different places: @Repository public class FooDAO { @Autowired private HibernateManager sessionFactory; @PostConstruct public void doSomeDatabaseStuff() throws DataAccessException { ... } } And my application-context.xml is a fairly simple context:component-scan: <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-2.0.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context-2.5.xsd" default-init-method="init" default-destroy-method="destroy"> <context:component-scan base-package="top.level"/> </beans> The DAO is accessed from a couple servlets in my application server through @Autowired properties. As far as I understand, anything annotated with @Repository should default to being a singleton and thus doSomeDatabaseStuff() should only be called once (as is my intention). The problem is that I'm seeing doSomeDatabaseStuff() called multiple times. What's going on here? Have I set something up incorrectly? I'm using spring 3.0.0. Thanks for the help.

• How to pass PHP variable as FlashVars via SWFObject

  I am trying to take a PHP variable and pass it along to Flash via Flash vars. My end goal is to pass a string formatted as XML to Flash, but because I'm struggling I've stripped everything down to the basics. I'm just trying to pass a simple PHP string variable to Flash via FlashVars with SWFObject but something isn't right. The page won't load when I try to pass the variable inside of php tags, but it will load if I just pass a hard coded string. • Themeing and Master Pages

  I have the requirement to support themeing of my site's pages. The way I am doing this is by dynamically choosing a master page based on the current theme. I have setup a directory structure like so /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master1.master /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master2.master /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master3.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master1.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master2.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master3.master And I am still using the page directive in the view <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/shared/masterpages/theme1/Master1.Master"%> I would still like to leverage the view's MasterPageFile property and just change the theme directory. I can only think of three ways to do this none of them which sound great. Create a custom BaseView class that uses OnPreInit to change the theme like this Create some xml file or database table that links each view to a master page file and then set this in the controller. Build some tool that reads all the views and parses them for their masterpagefile, (similar to 2 but could be done at run time potentially.) Option 1 seems the best option to me so far. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how to do this?

• Using JBoss EL on Weblogic 11g (10.3.1.0)

  Hi, I have a facelets 1.2 application that I am running on Weblogic 11g. I want to use the JBoss EL implementation that allows me to call bean methods with arguments. For this, I have packaged the jboss-el-2.0.1.GA.jar in my WAR's WEB-INF/lib directory. I have also added a context-param in my web.xml to override the Sun implementation. <context-param> <param-name>com.sun.faces.expressionFactory</param-name> <param-value>org.jboss.el.ExpressionFactoryImpl</param-value> </context-param> But when I load a page that contains an expression like <ice:outputText value="#{errBean.getErrMsg(error.code)}"/> I get an expression parsing exception java.lang.Exception: javax.faces.FacesException: com.sun.el.parser.ParseException: Encountered "(" at line 1, column 25.   I have the following layout defined for one of my Activities: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout android:id="@+id/TableLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <TableRow android:id="@+id/TableRow01" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <EditText android:text="Resource Name" android:id="@+id/ResourceName" android:lines="1" android:isScrollContainer="false"></EditText> </TableRow> <TableRow android:id="@+id/TableRow02" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <Button android:id="@+id/Tile" android:text="Tile"></Button> </TableRow> </TableLayout> The layout renders almost correctly, the only problem is that my text box and my button aren't occupying the full width of their respective rows. I've tried specifying fill_parent for the layout width properties, but to no avail, they still only occupy roughly half of the screen. Documentation overall for Android so far has been great, but there are a few scenarios like this one where I hit an invisible wall! Thanks for all the help!

• Android : Customizing tabs on state : How do I make a selector a drawable

  I know how to put the icon on each tab, that is no problem. I also ran across this : Stack Overflow thread on pretty much same thing I followed one of the links from that question, and found this Pretty much, it said use a selector defined in the xml, sure, did that. But there is no id associated w/ it so I am not sure how to get the selector function as a drawable so I can use it as the icon for the tabs. Maybe I am going about this the wrong way.. • The RSA key container could not be opened

  Hi, I've been developing an ASP.NET site on an older machine running XP home. I recently got a new Win 7 PC and moved all my project files across. When I try and run the project, I get this error message: "Failed to decrypt using provider 'MyRsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: The RSA key container could not be opened." I realised that I encrypted parts of my web.config file using a RSA encryption. This is where the problem now lies. I'm not sure how to get that key working again so that I can use it on my new machine. I exported the key from the older machine and imported it using: aspnet_regiis -pi "RSAProviderName" "C:\RSA_configkey.xml" This was imported successfully. I then ran the project, but the same error message came up. I figured it might be a permission thing, so I ran: aspnet_regiis -pa "RSAProviderName" "\Desktop" -full This was also successful, but I still get the error. From reading around, I've seen people use "ASPNET" instead of "\Desktop" (Desktop is my machine name). However, when I try and use "ASPNET", I get: No mapping between account name and security IDs was done. <Exception from HRESULT = 0x80070534 I can't work on the project until this is fixed, so any help is much appreciated. • SSL HandShakeException: No_Certificate. Using IBM's J9 JVM and Apache Tomcat

  I am developing a mobile application that is to run on a Windows Mobile PDA. The application is written in Java and to run it we are using the J9 JVM from IBM. The application communicates with an Apache Tomcat server over HTTP and we are trying to set it up now to use SSL. I have generated public/private keys for both the client and the server, exported their self signed certificates and imported them into the respective keystores. Initially I tried to just get it working using only server side authentication and that was successful. But I am now trying to get mutual authentication by setting clientAuth="true" in the server.xml file in the apache conf directory. I have enabled the SSL logging on the server and when the client connects the server reports an SSLProtocolException: handshake alert: no_certificate.   Hello! I am a newbie in Flex development and using Flash Builder 4 with SDK 4. Now I get the error that "the prefix "fx" for element "fx:Style" is not bound" in line number 4. I searched for it, and it has sth. to do with namespaces, but I can not solve it by myelf. • Authentication problem with Wufoo

  I set up a Wufoo form with admin only portions that will only show up if I am logged in. I read through the Wufoo API documentation and I can get the authenication to work, but when I try to access the form after I authenticate, it says I need to authenticate. • How to import data to SAP

  Hi, As a complete stranger in town of SAP, I want to transfer my own application's (mobile salesforce automation) data to SAP. My application has records of customers, stocks, inventory, invoices (and waybills), cheques, payments, collections, stock transfer data etc. I have an additional database which holds matchings of records. ie. A customer with ID 345 in my application has key 120-035-0223 in SAP. Every record, for sure, has to know it's counterpart, including parameters. After searching Google and SAP help site for a day, I covered that it's going to be a bit more pain than I expected. Especially SAP site does not give even a clue on it. Say I couldn't find. We transferred our data to some other ERP systems, some of which wanted XML files, some other exposed their APIs. My point is, is Sql Server's SSIS an option for me? I hope it is, so I can fight on my own territory. Since client requests would vary a lot, I count flexibility as most important criteria. Also, I want to transfer as much data as I could.
