• How do I record video to a local disk in AIR?

  I'm trying to record a webcam's video and audio to a FLV file stored on the users local hard disk. I have a version of this code working which uses NetConnection and NetStream to stream the video over a network to a FMS (Red5) server, but I'd like to be able to store the video locally for low bandwidth/flaky network situations. I'm using FLex 3.2 and AIR 1.5, so I don't believe there should be any sandbox restrictions which prevent this from occurring. Things I've seen: FileStream - Allows reading.writing local files but no .attachCamera and .attachAudio methids for creating a FLV. flvrecorder - Produces screen grabs from the web cam and creates it's own flv file. Doesn't support Audio. License prohibits commercial use. SimpleFLVWriter.as - Similar to flvrecorder without the wierd license. Doesn't support audio. This stackoverflow post - Which demonstrates the playback of a video from local disk using a NetConnection/NetStream. Given that I have a version already which uses NetStream to stream to the server I thought the last was most promising and went ahead and put together this demo application. What I'd like to know is, a) What (if anything) is wrong with the code above? b) If NetStream doesn't support recording to disk, are there any other alternatives which capture Audio AND Video to a file on the users local hard disk? • Why does BeginReceiveFrom never time out?

  I am writing an asynchronous Ping using Raw Sockets in F#, to enable parallel requests using as few threads as possible ("System.Net.NetworkInformation.Ping" appears to use one thread per request, but have not tested this... also am interested in using F# async workflows). The synchronous version below correctly times out when the target host does not exist/respond, but the asynchronous version hangs. Both work when the host does respond... Any ideas? • Selected value from drop-down list doesn't post from jquery dialog

• How to create Large resumable download from a secured location .NET

But only one problem it doesn't allow for resume. I took the original code called it fetch.aspx and pass an orderNUM through the URL. fetch.aspx&ordernum=xxxxxxx It then reads the filename/location from the database occording to the ordernumber, and chunks it out from a secured location NOT under the webroot. I need a way to make this resumable, by the nature of the internet and large files people always get disconnected and would like to resume where they left off. But any resumable articles i've read, assume the file is within the webroot.. ie. http://www.devx.com/dotnet/Article/22533/1954 Great article and works well, but I need to stream from a secured location. I'm not a .NET coder at all, at best i can do a bit of coldfusion, if anyone could help me modify a handler to do this, i would really appreciate it. Requirements: I Have a working fetch.aspx script that functions well and uses the above code snippet as a base for the streamed downloading. Download files are large 600MB and are stored in a secured location outside of the webroot. Users click on the fetch.aspx to start the download, and would therefore be clicking it again if it was to fail. If the ext is a .ASPX and the file being sent is a AVI, clicking on it would completely bypass an IHTTP handler mapped to .AVI ext, so this confuses me From what I understand the browser will read and match etag value and file modified date to determine they are talking about the same file, then a subsequent accept-range is exchanged between the browser and IIS. Since this dialog happens with IIS, we need to use a handler to intercept and respond accordingly, but clicking on the link would send it to an ASPX file which the handeler needs to be on an AVI fiel.. Also confusing me. If there is a way to request the initial HTTP request header containing etag, accept-range into the normal .ASPX file, i could read those values and if the accept-range and etag exist, start chunking at that byte value somehow? but I couldn't find a way to transfer the http request headers since they seem to get lost at the IIS level. OrderNum which is passed in the URL string is unique and could be used as the ETag Response.AddHeader("ETag", request("ordernum")) Files need to be resumable and chunked out due to size. File extensions are .AVI so a handler could be written around it. IIS 6.0 Web Server Any help would really be appreciated, i've been reading and reading and downloading code, but none of the examples given meet my situation with the original file being streamed from outside of the webroot. Please help me get a handle on these httphandlers :)

• Java PHP posting using URLConnector, PHP file doesn't seem to receive parameters

  Hi there, I am trying to post some simple string data to my php script via a java application. My PHP script works fine when I enter the data myself using a web browser (newvector.php?x1=&y1=...) • Web service occasionally slows down significantly

  My company is running into a problem with a web service that is written in C#/ASP.Net. The service receives an identity key for data in SQL Server and a path to generate and save a PDF report for this data. In most cases, this web service returns results to the calling web pages very quickly, usually within a few seconds max. However, it seems to occasionally hit a significant slowdown. The web application calling the web service will generate a timeout error when this slowdown occurs. We have checked and the PDF does get created and saved to the server, so it looks like the web service eventually finishes executing. It seems to take about 1 to 2 minutes for processing to have completed. The PDF is generated using ActiveReports from Data Dynamics. Wwhen this problem occurs, making a small change to the web service's config file (ie, adding a blank space to a connection string line) seems to restart the web service and everything is perfectly ok for a period of time afterwards. Other web applications that are running on the same web server do not seem to experience this type of behavior, only this particular web service. I have added the code for the web service below. It is basic calls to 3rd party libraries. We are not able to recreate this problem in test. I am wondering what might be causing this issue?   I'm using jqgrid in an ASPNET MVC4 project with WebApi (REST), Entity Framework 5 using Unit Of Work and Repository patterns. My problem is that I see the data flowing as json to the browser and I see three rows in the grid, but those rows are empty, and the data is not shown (three empty rows in the grid).   I thought I'd put together a quick script to consolidate the CSS rules I have distributed across multiple CSS files, then I can minify it. I'm new to Python but figured this would be a good exercise to try a new language. My main loop isn't parsing the CSS as I thought it would. I populate a list with selectors parsed from the CSS files to return the CSS rules in order. • matplotlib and python multithread file processing

  I have a large number of files to process. I have written a script that get, sort and plot the datas I want. So far, so good. I have tested it and it gives the desired result. Then I wanted to do this using multithreading. I have looked into the doc and examples on the internet, and using one thread in my program works fine. But when I use more, at some point I get random matplotlib error, and I suspect some conflict there, even though I use a function with names for the plots, and iI can't see where the problem could be. • WinMo > ASMX WebException - how to get details?

  Okay, we've got an application which consists of a website hosting several ASMX webservices, and a handheld application running on WinMo 6.1 which calls the webservices. Been developing in the office, everything works perfect. Now we've gone to install it at the client's and we got all the servers set up and the handhelds installed. However the handhelds are now no longer able to connect to the webservice. I added in extra code in my error handler to specifically trap WebException exceptions and handle them differently in the logging to put out extra information (.Status and .Response). I am getting out the status, which is returning a [7], or ProtocolError. However when I try to read out the ResponseStream (using WebException.Response.GetResponseStream), it is returning a stream with CanRead set to False, and I thus am unable to get any further details of what is going wrong. So I guess there are two things I am asking for help with... a) Any help with trying to get more information out of the WebException? b) What could be causing a ProtocolError exception? Things get extra complicated by the fact that the client has a full-blown log-in-enabled proxy setup going on-site. This was stopping all access to the website initially, even from a browser. So we entered in the login details in the network connection for HTTP on the WinMo device. Now it can get to websites fine. In fact, I can even pull up the webservice fine and call the methods from the browser (PocketIE). So I know the device is able to see the webservices okay via HTTP. But when trying to call them from the .NET app, it throws ProtocolError [7]. Here is my code which is logging the exception and failing to read out the Response from the WebException. • Domain Validation in a CQRS architecture

  Basically I want to know if there is a better way to validate my domain entities. This is how I am planning to do it but I would like your opinion The first approach I considered was: class Customer : EntityBase<Customer> { public void ChangeEmail(string email) { if(string.IsNullOrWhitespace(email)) throw new DomainException(“...”); if(!email.IsEmail()) throw new DomainException(); if(email.Contains(“@mailinator.com”)) throw new DomainException(); } } I actually do not like this validation because even when I am encapsulating the validation logic in the correct entity, this is violating the Open/Close principle (Open for extension but Close for modification) and I have found that violating this principle, code maintenance becomes a real pain when the application grows up in complexity. Why? Because domain rules change more often than we would like to admit, and if the rules are hidden and embedded in an entity like this, they are hard to test, hard to read, hard to maintain but the real reason why I do not like this approach is: if the validation rules change, I have to come and edit my domain entity. This has been a really simple example but in RL the validation could be more complex So following the philosophy of Udi Dahan, making roles explicit, and the recommendation from Eric Evans in the blue book, the next try was to implement the specification pattern, something like this class EmailDomainIsAllowedSpecification : IDomainSpecification<Customer> { private INotAllowedEmailDomainsResolver invalidEmailDomainsResolver; public bool IsSatisfiedBy(Customer customer) { return !this.invalidEmailDomainsResolver.GetInvalidEmailDomains().Contains(customer.Email); } } But then I realize that in order to follow this approach I had to mutate my entities first in order to pass the value being valdiated, in this case the email, but mutating them would cause my domain events being fired which I wouldn’t like to happen until the new email is valid So after considering these approaches, I came out with this one, since I am going to implement a CQRS architecture: class EmailDomainIsAllowedValidator : IDomainInvariantValidator<Customer, ChangeEmailCommand> { public void IsValid(Customer entity, ChangeEmailCommand command) { if(!command.Email.HasValidDomain()) throw new DomainException(“...”); } } Well that’s the main idea, the entity is passed to the validator in case we need some value from the entity to perform the validation, the command contains the data coming from the user and since the validators are considered injectable objects they could have external dependencies injected if the validation requires it. Now the dilemma, I am happy with a design like this because my validation is encapsulated in individual objects which brings many advantages: easy unit test, easy to maintain, domain invariants are explicitly expressed using the Ubiquitous Language, easy to extend, validation logic is centralized and validators can be used together to enforce complex domain rules. And even when I know I am placing the validation of my entities outside of them (You could argue a code smell - Anemic Domain) but I think the trade-off is acceptable But there is one thing that I have not figured out how to implement it in a clean way. How should I use this components... Is there anything in real life that comes close? If not, is it possible to define customized keywords in Java or JSP? Or do I have to create an entirely new programming language for that? What problems do you see with this kind of setup? PS: I know you can use HTML libraries to construct HTML using Java code, but the problem with such libraries is, the source code itself doesn't have a readable HTML representation like the code above does - if you get what I mean.

So, here's the list of problems I have: By default the messages.properties (Czech) should load, instead the messages_en.properties loads by default. In the web form, when I enter Czech data, then click submit, in the Controller I print out the data in the console before to save it to db, what's being printed is not correct having strange chars, and this is the exact data that saves to db. I don't know where's the mistake! Why can't I get it working although I did what people did and worked for them! don't know.. Now I´m pretty sure that 'something' outside code is trying to access an object previously released and I can't know where or why it happens neither where it was released... As you see I used this proof of concept as the foundation of my application and it grew and grew into an application that makes use of configuration files, web services (using gSOAP and C ...) I hope you can give me some clues to where is my error ... I´ve been the hole week debugging unsuccessfully, as I said before, I think that that message comes from a point outside my code. I'd say that the problem s related with bad memory allocation or automatisms (nearly completely unknowns for me) during loading the nib components... When I publish the web service application to inetpub\wwwroot (Windows 7, IIS7) it does not delete the old files in the Download directory. The app works perfect when I publish to IIS from a physical directory not in wwwroot. Obviously, it seems IIS places some sort of lock on files in the web root. I have tested impersonating an admin user to run the app and it still does not work. Any tips on how to circumvent the lock programmatically when in wwwroot?
