  • Can a single solution hold projects from multiple repositories?

    I've begun setting up SVN repositories to store my code, and am wondering if a single Visual Studio solution can have projects from multiple repositories. I have a shared library with different helper functions, generic custom controls, etc, that are used by multiple projects, and hosted in its own repository. Then I have my project repository, which contains all of the program-specific code such as forms, etc. I know I could copy the shared library into the program's repository, then copy them back when I make changes, but I'd much rather keep them in different repositories so I can hit "Commit" and the general library commits to it's repository, and the program code commits to it. I'm currently using AnkhSVN, but if it's possible with other tools, I'll look into it. Preemptive clarification for all the "just use one repository" answers: The shared library is hosted in an online repository, viewable by anyone, but the program code is proprietary and resides on our office servers, so they need different repositories.

However, it is unworkably verbose, will be a maintenance nightmare and is probably fairly inefficient with all the redundant object construction. Is there a simpler way of creating an index with the required structure (ViewA) given a collection of documents (DocA)? FURTHER INFORMATION The issue appears to be that in order to have the index hold the data in the transformed structure (ViewA), we have to do a Reduce. It appears that a Reduce must have both a GROUP ON and a SELECT in order to work as expected so the following are not valid: INVALID REDUCE CLAUSE 1: Reduce = results => from result in results group on new ViewA { Id = result.Id, Name = result.Name, CurrencyName = result.CurrencyName } into g select g.Key; This produces: System.InvalidOperationException: Variable initializer select must have a lambda expression with an object create expression Clearly we need to have the 'select new'. INVALID REDUCE CLAUSE 2: Reduce = results => from result in results select new ViewA { Id = result.Id, Name = result.Name, CurrencyName = result.CurrencyName }; This prduces: System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'ICSharpCode.NRefactory.Ast.IdentifierExpression' to type 'ICSharpCode.NRefactory.Ast.InvocationExpression'. Clearly, we also need to have the 'group on new'. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. (Note: removing the type (ViewA) from the constructor calls has no effect on the above)

    I am in the process of creating my first jQuery plug-in that will format numbers automatically to various international formats. There are a couple functions within the plug-in that strips the strings and re-formats the string that needs to be called from another jQuery script. Based on the plug-in structure below (let me know if you need the entire code) can I call and send the parameter(s) to the stripFormat(ii) and targetFormat(ii, iv) functions? Or do I need to change my plug-in structure and if so how?     I've been using this code to create my UIWindow UIMyWindow* win = [[UIMyWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; UIMyWindow isn't anything special it just has a pointer to a C++ class that does some wrapping of ObjectiveC. Recently my application start crashing after adding some line of code that doesn't have to do anything with the error. The line of code that I added is just allocating a C++ object but the program execution never reaches this line. Interesting enough my code works in Release. My only guess is that I made some memory corruption on a completely different place. My questions are: What type of memory corruption that can be? And is there some good practices to track them down?

At times due to un-notified changes in JSON structure by back-end team; it breaks the front-end code. Is there any external library that we could use to compare a mock JSON (fixture) with servers JSON response. Basically it should assert the whole JSON object and should throw an error if there is any violation in servers JSON format. Additional info: App is built on JQuery consuming REST JSON services.

    Hi all, I want to use mobile substrate to "hook" some code into IPhone's "MobileCal" app so that the injected code will send a notification to my app MobileCal gets a call notification. But I'm out of luck and no clue which method need to be replaced by my "hooking" method in the "MobileCal" app. For example, the "MobileLog" and "iRealSMS" has the same functionality and they used mobile substrate to hook their code into "MobileCal" app. If any one has any clue, I would definitely appreciate them.

  • RAD Visual Web Application Creator/ Builder/ Designer for PHP

    Hi all, I want to see if any of you know a (free and open source will be ideal) tool/ app that can help build a php web application very quickly without investing too much time on writing codes, preferring drag and drop/ point and click work-flow designer for logic design (see Agile from Outsystems below). Plus, visual designer for the business logic is great since it can help a developer visualize the logic better. There are a lot of GUI builders, form builders out there, but I am looking for one app for the entire web application development process. My goal is to find an application that a team of developers can use together and use the build-in code of the app as much as possible. E.g. the app will provide a modular just for handle user login or a shopping cart; a developer just need to drag and drop the modular to the logic designer and the code will be generated. This way the functionality will be in a module and code will always be standard across developers. So if a new developer get on-board, he will just need to use the system and get up and running quickly. To explain this better: there is a lot php frameworks, e.g. cakephp, CodeIgniter, etc which I can use to help coding, but still I need to create (code) the GUI, writing quite a bit of codes. I am looking for a tool/ app that is a little more high level than those frameworks. Here is 2 examples apps I found during my google search which they have visual logic designer and gui builder in one single app. Also a single click deployment (but I need it to be php apps or at least I can deploy the (php) code to a LAMP/ WAMP server): Wavemaker: for JAVA Agile from Outsystems: for JAVA or .net (This one is really good, with work-flow drag and drop logic designer!) Talend: it is just an ETL tool, but the concept is what I want to bring up. Drag and drop, point and click logic design. Custom code can be added if it is needed, but the drag and drop process already finished the structure and most of the coding of the web app one needs to build. I want to list Adobe Flex, but it is more like a GUI designer + IDE, not exactly what I want to describe here. The drag and drop/ work-flow logic designer is a key for the app. I could go for the CMS route by learning how to extend them, but it is not that flexible for me and is a long learning curve. Anybody came across this type of app before? Or any idea of how can I find those apps? I googled them for long time, I don't see any of them for php and just few (just 2) for Java. I am constructing a web request using this code: UTF8Encoding encoding = new System.Text.UTF8Encoding(); byte[] Data = encoding.GetBytes(HttpUtility.ConstructQueryString(parameters)); httpRequest = WebRequest.Create((domain)) as HttpWebRequest; httpRequest.Timeout = 10000000; httpRequest.ReadWriteTimeout = 10000000; httpRequest.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; httpRequest.Method = "POST"; httpRequest.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; httpRequest.ContentLength = Data.Length; Stream SendReq = httpRequest.GetRequestStream(); SendReq.Write(Data, 0, Data.Length); SendReq.Close(); HttpWebResponse httpResponse = (HttpWebResponse)httpRequest.GetResponse(); return httpResponse.GetResponseStream(); The web service functions by receiving a JSON-encoded document as part of the URL (eg. https://site.com/ws/sync??document={"version":"1.0.0","items":[{"item_1":"item1"}]}&user=usr&password=pw), and as a response receives another JSON document as response data. This code runs fine on all emulators and PDAs running WM 5 and 6. We have seen an issue with a couple of customers running Treo smartphones (and only on the Sprint network). We have tested the code on an identical device on the AT&T network (via DeviceAnywhere) and once again the code worked as we expected. This has to be some sort of security policy on the phone, but we've been unable to determine a workaround or diagnose it thoroughly as we cannot reproduce it in house and have had to resort to getting users to assist with running test drivers for us. When this code executes, the user's device throws the following exception: System.Net.WebException Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS Stack trace: at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.finishGetRequestStream() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at OurApp.GetResponseStream(String domain, Hashtable parameters) inner exception: System.IO.IOException Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream. Stack trace: at System.Net.SslConnectionState.ClientSideHandshake() at System.Net.SslConnectionState.PerformClientHandShake() at System.Net.Connection.connect(Object ignored) at System.Threading.ThreadPool.WorkItem.doWork(Object o) at System.Threading.Timer.ring() Examining the server Apache logs shows no hits from the user's IP - I don't think the device is even attempting to send a packet before failing. If relevant, the server is running Apache on Linux and is written using the TurboGears Python framework. The server certificate is issued by a CA and is still valid. The test driver where this error was copied from was not code signed, however the same error (without the error messages) is signed with a GeoTrust certificate so we don't believe this is a code signing issue. The application installs and launches without issue on all phones - it's just establishing this SSL connection that is breaking for these users. One significant issue in troubleshooting is that there is a substantial inconvenience each time we try out a solution (need to find a "volunteer" customer), so we're really looking for a silver bullet or a better understanding of the handshaking process so we can be reasonably confident we only need to ask the user to test it one or two more times. One final mention: we have tried the sync both over ActiveSync and also over GPRS with identical results. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

  • Can I avoid explicitly casting objects with a common subclass?

    I have an iPodLibraryGroup object and Artist and Album both inherit from it. When it comes to my view controllers though I find that I'm duplicate lots of code, for example I have an ArtistListViewController and and AlbumListViewController even though they're both doing basically the same thing. The reason I've ended up duplicating the code is because these view controllers each refer to either an Artist object or al Album object and I'm not sure how to set it up so that one view controller could handle both — these view controllers are mainly accessing methods that that the objects have in common from iPodLibraryGroup. As an example, to hopefully make this clearer consider this code in AlbumListViewController: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { Album *album = nil; album = [self albumForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath inTableView:tableView]; … if (!album.thumbnail) { [self startThumbnailDownload:album forIndexPath:indexPath inTableView:tableView]; cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"Placeholder.png"]; } else { cell.imageView.image = album.thumbnail; } return cell; } This is essentially completely repeated (along with a hell of a lot more repeated code) in ArtistListViewController just so that I can typecast the local variable as an Artist instead of an Album. Is there a way to not explicitly need to set Artist or Album here so that the same code could work for any object that is a child of iPodLibraryGroup?

    Hello! I'm prepping for a simple work project and am trying to familiarize myself with the basics of socket programming in a Unix dev environment. At this point, I have some basic server side code and client side code setup to communicate. Currently, my client code successfully connects to the server code and the server code sends it a test message, then both quit out. Perfect! That's exactly what I wanted to accomplish. Now I'm playing around with the functions used to obtain info about the two environments (server and client). I'd like to obtain the local IP address and dynamically assigned TCP port of the client.     I have a directory structure like this client/lib a.jar b-4.3.jar c-1.2.jar d-4.3.jar e.jar I need to copy some jars without version and some with version. The only information that i have is version number, and that is stored in a variable. Problem is version number that i have in variable is 4.3.1 and version that jars have is just first two digits from the variable value (i.e. 4.3 in my case). I need all the jars that has starting two digits that my variable has and some of the jars without version. For e.g. from above directory structure i need: b-4.3.jar d-4.3.jar e.jar Can somebody please help?

  • C2360 compiler error on TFS build, but not on desktop

    A c++ code snippet similar to the code below caused our TFS build to fail with a C2360 compiler error. switch (i) { case 0 : for each (int n in a) System::Console::WriteLine(n.ToString()); break; case 1 : System::Console::WriteLine("n is not in scope here"); break; } This is fixed by using {} brackets within the body of case 0, as below: switch (i) { case 0 : { for each (int n in a) System::Console::WriteLine(n.ToString()); } break; case 1 : System::Console::WriteLine("n is not in scope here"); break; } The developer had successfully compiled the code on their desktop before committing the changes. A cursory look at versions of things like compilers, Visual Studio etc on the server and desktop suggest they are the same. The source code is the same, obviously. What is the difference between a desktop build and TFS build that would smother a compiler error like this?
