    I am starting to use memcache more frequently to avoid having to recalculate things between page requests. When the memcache periodically clears, as it is designed to do, I have to start all over rebuilding various items that I have placed in memcache. What I would like to do is create a very simple model that enables me to periodically save the items that I put into memcache based on the memcache keys that I'm using along with a datetime that is related to the data being memcached. What is the best way to do this?   • What is the best way to get an audio file duration in Android?

    Hi! I'm using a SoundPool [ 1 ] to play audio clips in my app. All is fine but I need to know when the clip playback has finished. At the moment I track it in my app by obtaining the duration of each clip using a MediaPlayer [ 2 ] instance. That works fine but it looks wasteful to load each file twice, just to get the duration. I could roughly calculate the duration myself knowing the length of the file (available from the AssetFileDescriptor [ 3 ]) but I'd still need to know the sample rate and the number of channels. I see two potential solutions to that problem: Figuring out when a clip has finished playing (doesn't seem to be possible with SoundClip). Having a class which could load just the header of an audio file and give me the sample rate/number of channels (and, ideally, the sample count to get the exact duration). Any suggestions?     Hi, A mortgage page on our website is accesible by multiple links on one page. In order to determine which of the links on that same page has been clicked on, I use event tracking. All events for these links are being stored under the category: "mortgage" When I look at the total number of pageviews for this mortgage page and the total number of events for the event category "mortgage", the number of pageviews is 10%-20% higher. I'm working on a Project with outdated, very old looking GUI (the used GUI framework is more than 10 years old) Since the used programming language is Eiffel, there are almost no good libraries for GUI development. Although Wrappers for C libraries exist, it's not that easy to wrap something like Qt with them. The current GUI framework uses the Windows API to create windows, widgets and so on. But as stated - it's very old. Now i would like to learn more about how to use the Windows API directly to create state of the art GUI's Can someone recommend any reading material? Thanks!

    I have an app fetch data from internet, for better performance and bandwidth, I need to implement a cache layer. There are two different data coming from the internet, one is changing every one hour and another one does not change basically. So for the first type of data, I need to implement an expire policy to make it self deleted after it was created for 1 hour, and when user request that data, I will check the storage first and then goto internet if nothing found. I thought about using a SharedPrefrence or SQLDatabase to store the json data or serialized object string. My question is: 1) What should I use, SharedPrefrence or SQLDatabase or anything else, a piece of data is not big but there are maybe many instances of that data. 2) How to implement that expire system.

  • How can I prevent my Android app/service from being "killed" from a task manager?

    It is very important that my service stay running until someone with a password stops the service from my UI screen. My app runs great but it is designed to be turned on/off by parents (with a password) on their kids phones. I have managed to make everything work but the problem I'm having is that if the kid uses a task manager to kill my service then my app is useless. I would be grateful to anyone who knows a way to either 1) monitor the service and start it back up automatically if its "killed" or 2) prevent someone from being able to kill it except from the activity (administration screen) that launched the service. Or both? I'm sorry if I'm not very clear in describing the problem, I'm a beginner. I've made great progress so far but I am stuck at this last hurdle.

    Hi, Is there any way to write a MIDlet, but still use BlackBerry API classes and functions (including the APIs that require code signing)? In particular, I'm trying to use Kuix (http://www.kalmeo.org/projects/kuix). A pure MIDlet + Kuix (so without BlackBerry stuff) works perfectly after I converted the jar/jad to a cod file. As soon as I add BlackBerry API-stuff (CoverageInfo.COVERAGE_DIRECT in this case) I get a verification error when trying to run the cod file: Error starting $name: Module $name has verification error 2410 at offset 9a4f What can I do to solve this?

The API documentation for C# in this regard is quite poor, with many of the entries in msdn marked with "This language is not supported, or no code example is available.", I'm sorry I can't be more specific, I haven't done any programming using cryptographic api's.     How can I best implement a system for send keystrokes/commands via an iPhone and/or Droid to a desktop or laptop computer via WiFi or bluetooth? There are apps for VLC, Keynote and other applications that do this, so I know it's possible but don't know what technology base to use. The implementation is probably different on Windows and OS X, but if they could be similar that'd be a big win. If VNC-type technology is used, that'd be fine but I only need to send key commands and mouse clicks—I don't need to be able to navigate the screen space.

Essentially I have a Model: class SharableUserAsset(db.Model): name = StringProperty() users = ListProperty(users.User) My questions are: What is the best way to associate users to this value where they are not authenticated, visa vi invite from contacts list etc.? Is there a reasonable way to present a list control easily in a djangoforms.ModelForm? Once a user logs in I want to be able to check if that user is in the list for any number of SharableUserAsset class "records", how do I do that? Does user evaluate as a match to an email address or is there a way to look up a valid user against an email address?
