jQuery getScript function with frames

Hello.. I'm a novice at Javascript/Jquery programming, so an apology if this is a simple/silly question. I am trying to use the jQuery .getScript() function to refresh part of an existing webpage. This webpage must be run on a local file system, and a large amount of the formatting is done using frames. Right now, there’s three main frames- a sidebar which displays possible “scopes” to choose from, a main frame which displays the majority of the contents of the webpage, and a footer frame. The main entry into the page is in an index.html file, which loads a sidebar.html, main.html, and footer.html file into each of the respective frames. In turn, the main.html has a number of javascript files which it loads, the main being a main.js, which contains numerous functions to format/process the contents for this main window. After loading this javascript file, main.html loads a few javascript files, which contain the data which is going to be displayed in the main frame. These files that are loaded have a fixed data structure, and are dependent on the functions that were loaded by the main.js file. Loading the webpage works fine now, but when a user tries to switch to another “scope”, the whole webpage is reloaded to make the switch. The only difference in the webpage is the content in the main.js frame, loaded in by a different set of .js files. Enough text, let’s look at some code. When the webpage loads, I tried to add a simple call to the getScript function in a .js file at the index.html level which handles switching scopes. This file, newFile, has different data definitions than the previously loaded oldFile.js which was loaded in the main.html file. $.getScript(/js/newFile.js); However this doesn’t work, since newFile.js depends on a parseData() function which is in main.js. If I open firebug up, parseData is not located in the dom tab, which I assume is related to some scoping issue with the main.html and main.js file existing in a different frame. I tried to do some targeting to the correct “frame” but I don’t think I understand jQuery enough to know what is happening. $(window.parent.frames[0]).getScript(/js/newFile.js); Any suggestions? If I were to type into firebug console “parseData” it can not find it: “ReferenceError: parseData is not defined” However, if I type in window.parent.frames[1].parseData, it can find the function. Sorry about all the rambling and poor understanding of javascript. Hopefully someone can provide some assistance! Thanks

Why is Django sending the wrong email template?

I'm so baffled... I keep staring at this code, looking for the typo, but I can't find it! template = 'emails/transporter_joined' tt = loader.get_template(template+'.txt') c = Context({'user':user, 'fee': settings.FEE * Decimal('100.00'),'settings':settings}) e = EmailMultiAlternatives('Activate Your Account', tt.render(c), '[email protected]', [user.email]) try: ht = loader.get_template(template+'.html') e.attach_alternative(ht.render(c), 'text/html') except: pass e.send() First it should load the 'emails/transporter_joined.txt' template, and adds that to the email. And then it tries to load a '.html' version and attaches that too. In Gmail you can see the the "original email" with both emails, and all the headers in plain text. It very clearly shows the .txt version twice. the .html and .txt files are definitely different. What am I doing wrong here? If I replace this tt = loader.get_template(template+'.txt') With .html instead, then it sends the .html twice... it must be Django that's screwing up, no?

Is there a better, more efficient way to write this code? It's a make shift drop down menu that allows user to RSVP for multiple people. Now how do I write the changes back to the original file? What is the best way of doing it? Unable to mount smb share. "Please select another viewer and try again". Please help. Serious smb/nautilus foo needed

This don't think this is the typical, "I can't mount a windows share" post. I am using stock Ubuntu 12.04. I am pretty sure this is a Nautilus issue, but I have reached a dead end. I have one share that I can't mount using smb://server/share via nautilus. I get the following error. Error: Failed to mount Windows share Please select another viewer and try again I can mount this share from other machines(non-ubuntu) using the same credentials so I know I have perms on the destination share. I can mount other shares on other servers from my Ubuntu box so I am pretty sure I have all the smb packages I need on my Ubuntu box. To make thing more interesting, if I use smbclient from the command line, I mount this share with no problems from my Ubuntu box. So here's what we know: destination share perms are ok (no problem accessing from other machines) smb is setup correctly on Ubuntu box (access other windows shares no problem) I only get the error when using nautilus smbclient in terminal works, no problem Any help would be greatly appreciated. Googling turned up simple mount/perms issues, and I don't think that is what is going on here. Let me know if you need more information. Hugh

Hi there, I am trying to get my head around public key encryption using the openssl implementation of rsa in C++. Can you help? So far these are my thoughts (please do correct if necessary) Alice is connected to Bob over a network Alice and Bob want secure communications Alice generates a public / private key pair and sends public key to Bob Bob receives public key and encrypts a randomly generated symmetric cypher key (e.g. blowfish) with the public key and sends the result to Alice Alice decrypts the ciphertext with the originally generated private key and obtains the symmetric blowfish key Alice and Bob now both have knowledge of symmetric blowfish key and can establish a secure communication channel Now, I have looked at the openssl/rsa.h rsa implementation (since I already have practical experience with openssl/blowfish.h), and I see these two functions: int RSA_public_encrypt(int flen, unsigned char *from, unsigned char *to, RSA *rsa, int padding); int RSA_private_decrypt(int flen, unsigned char *from, unsigned char *to, RSA *rsa, int padding); If Alice is to generate *rsa, how does this yield the rsa key pair? Is there something like rsa_public and rsa_private which are derived from rsa? Does *rsa contain both public and private key and the above function automatically strips out the necessary key depending on whether it requires the public or private part? Factorising program not working. Help required.

I am working on a factorisation problem using Fermat's Factorization and for small numbers it is working well. I've been able to calculate the factors (getting the answers from Wolfram Alpha) for small numbers, like the one on the Wikipedia page (5959). Just when I thought I had the problem licked I soon realised that my program was not working when it came to larger numbers. The program follows through the examples from the Wikipedia page, printing out the values a, b, a2 and b2; the results printed for large numbers are not correct. I've followed the pseudocode provided on the Wikipedia page, but am struggling to understand where to go next. Along with the Wikipedia page I have been following this guide. Once again, as my Math knowledge is pretty poor I cannot follow what I need to do next. runs much faster. if the user did click the checkbox then the textbox where they type the specific regions shows up and it will run the query that includes the dbo.B605SaleAsOfAdvancedMaster.SDESCR in (" & TextBox1.Text & ") If you can somehow do this using parameters and not with the textbox1.text in the query it will run much faster for me thanks for your help

Help with specific Regex: need to match multiple instances of multiple formats in a single string.

I apologize for the terrible title...it can be hard to try to summarize an entire situation into a single sentence. Let me start by saying that I'm asking because I'm just not a Regex expert. I've used it a bit here and there, but I just come up short with the correct way to meet the following requirements. The Regex that I'm attempting to write is for use in an XML schema for input validation, and used elsewhere in Javascript for the same purpose. There are two different possible formats that are supported. There is a literal string, which must be surrounded by quotation marks, and a Hex-value string which must be surrounded by braces. Some test cases: "this is a literal string" <-- Valid string, enclosed properly in "s "this should " still be correct" <-- Valid string, "s are allowed within (if possible, this requirement could be forgiven if necessary) "{00 11 22}" <-- Valid string, {}'s allow in strings. Another one that can be forgiven if necessary I am bad output <-- Invalid string, no "s "Some more problemss"you know <-- Invalid string, must be fully contained in "s {0A 68 4F 89 AC D2} <-- Valid string, hex characters enclosed in {}s {DDFF1234} <-- Valid string, spaces are ignored for Hex strings DEADBEEF <-- Invalid string, must be contained in either "s or {}s {0A 12 ZZ} <-- Invalid string, 'Z' is not a valid Hex character To satisfy these general requirements, I had come up with the following Regex that seems to work well enough. I'm still fairly new to Regex, so there could be a huge hole here that I'm missing.: ".+"|\{([0-9]|[a-f]|[A-F]| )+\} If I recall correctly, the XML Schema regex automatically assumes beginning and end of line (^ and $ respectively). So, essentially, this regex accepts any string that starts and ends with a ", or starts and ends with {}s and contains only valid Hexidecimal characters. This has worked well for me so far except that I had forgotten about another (although less common, and thus forgotten) input option that completely breaks my regex. Where I made my mistake: Valid input should also allow a user to separate valid strings (of either type, literal/hex) by a comma. This means that a single string should be able to contain more than one of the above valid strings, separated by commas. Luckily, however, a comma is not a supported character within a literal string (although I see that my existing regex does not care about commas). Example test cases: "some string",{0A F1} <-- Valid {1122},{face},"peanut butter" <-- Valid {0D 0A FF FE},"string",{FF FFAC19 85} <-- Valid (Spaces don't matter in Hex values) "Validation is allowed to break, if a comma is found not separating values",{0d 0a} <-- Invalid, comma is a delimiter, but "Validation is allowed to break" and "if a comma..." are not marked as separate strings with "s hi mom,"hello" <-- Invalid, String1 was not enclosed properly in "s or {}s My thoughts are that it is possible to use commas as a delimiter to check each "section" of the string to match a regex similar to the original, but I just am not that advanced in regex yet to come up with a solution on my own. Beginner question: ArrayList can't seem to get it right! Pls help

I have been staring at this code all day now, but just can't get it right. ATM I am just pushing codeblocks around without being able to concentrate anymore, with the due time being within almost an hour... So you guys are my last resort here. I am supposed to create a few random balls on a canvas, those balls being stored within an ArrayList (I hope an ArrayList is suitable here: the alternative options to choose from were HashSet and HashMap). Now, whatever I do, I get the differently colored balls at the top of my canvas, but they just get stuck there and refuse to move at all. Apart from that I now get a ConcurrentModificationException, when running the code: java.util.ConcurrentModificationException at java.util.AbstractList$Itr.checkForComodification(AbstractList.java:372) at java.util.AbstractList$Itr.next(AbstractList.java:343) at BallDemo.bounce(BallDemo.java:109) Reading up on that exception, I found out that one can make sure ArrayList is accessed in a threadsafe manner by somehow synchronizing access. But since I have remember fellow students doing without synchronizing, my guess is, that it would actually be the wrong path to go. [Qt/C++] Need help in optimizing a drawing code ...

Hello all ... I needed some help in trying to optimize this code portion ... Basically here's the thing .. I'm making this 'calligraphy pen' which gives the calligraphy effect by simply drawing a lot of adjacent slanted lines ... The problem is this: When I update the draw region using update() after every single draw of a slanted line, the output is correct, in the sense that updates are done in a timely manner, so that everything 'drawn' using the pen is immediately 'seen' the drawing.. however, because a lot (100s of them) of updates are done, the program slows down a little when run on the N900 ... When I try to do a little optimization by running update after drawing all the slanted lines (so that all lines are updated onto the drawing board through a single update() ), the output is ... odd .... That is, immediately after drawing the lines, they lines seem broken (they have vacant patches where the drawing should have happened as well) ... however, if I trigger a redrawing of the form window (say, by changing the size of the form), the broken patches are immediately fixed !! When I run this program on my N900, it gets the initial broken output and stays like that, since I don't know how to enforce a redraw in this case ... iphone: Help with AudioToolbox Leak: Stack trace/code included here...

Part of this app is a "Scream" button that plays random screams from cast members of a TV show. I have to bang on the app quite a while to see a memory leak in Instruments, but it's there, occasionally coming up (every 45 seconds to 2 minutes.) The leak is 3.50kb when it occurs. Haven't been able to crack it for several hours. Any help appreciated. Apache outputs all urls of a second domain as a subfolder of the primary domain name

Hi all, would anyone be able to possibly give me some guidance.. Basically, i have a 'shared hosting' account with a large internet hosting provider, and my account lets me have multiple seperate domains within this folder structure.(note: not aliased domains and not sub domains). so, my goal is to have 2 domains set up. i have already purchased the two domain names i need: The first domain is the 'primary' domain name for the root folder(eg. www.example1.com) and the second domain name is set for one of its sub folders(eg. www.example2.com is set to the folder www.example1.com/sites/music). The problem is that when apache returns a page of the second domain back to the browser, apache writes the hyperlinks as if it's a sub folder of the first domain ( eg. www.example2.com/index.html. comes out as http://www.example1.com/sites/music/index.html). Now, I have done some reading on this, looking though "Apache: the definitive guide"(o'reilly), and although it was useful, couldn't really find the answer. i'm guessing this issue is most likely an apache setup issue in http.conf, rather than an issue with the hosting company itself (which is why im posting it here) and I have also been to the official documentation for apache site, and i am guessing i might need to use something like the rewritebase directive in htaccess files.. but im really not sure, im more of a java programmer guy, and have been struggling with this for a couple of days. Any guidance would be REALLY appreciated. If it helps, my hosting company is godaddy, and my sites are hosted on linux. My problem was originally with wordpress which i reinstalled a number of times in various ways to correct the problem, but ive just done a test with a very simple static html, and it still has the same issue with relative urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> However, it is fine if i hardcode the urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="http://www.example2.com/images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> Thanks heaps, Steve R NOW FIXED Ok, the problem has now been fixed, and i didn't need to modify any .conf or .htaccess files. The problem was, that when I went to install the second application into a second domain from the godaddy site, one of the setup questions is that it asks you which site you want it installed to. after that it asks for the desired folder path. However, the problem was that the second domain name was already pointing to the correct subfolder of the primary domain. So when I started installing wordpress again and came to the menu to select which site it was for, and it listed only the primary domain as an option, i assumed that this was like a label of "which hosting account?", or "which primary domain will your application will be installed under?" because I already knew that in the next step i was specifiying the folder. In order to correct this, you must make sure that your second domain is added to your domain list so that it will be listed as an option during the installation process.
