• Ubuntu One downloads already existing files

  I've uploaded some files to Ubuntu One from my home laptop and begin to download it on my work laptop. Then I've got a USB and copied these files directly through the USB driver. My problem now is that Ubuntu One still downloading these files although I've copied them to Ubuntu One folder. I need it to consider the already existing files as synced and don't download it again. And I need Ubuntu One for further use so I can't simply quit it. How could I mark the already existing files as synced ?

• Apple Push notifications server - Feedback always returns zero tuples

  Hi, I am developing an iPhone App that uses Apple Push Notifications. On the iPhone side everything is fine, on the server side I have a problem. Notifications are sent correctly however when I try to query the feedback service to obtain a list of devices from which the App has been uninstalled, I always get zero results. I know that I should obtain one result as the App has been uninstalled from one of my test devices. After 24 hours and more I still have no results from the feedback service.. Any ideas? Does anybody know how long it takes for the feedback service to recognize that my App has been uninstalled from my test device? Could it be due to the sandbox environment?

• I cannot search/find any applications in the Dash on 12.04

  Its been a while since I booted my Ubuntu (12.04), but when i did I had several updates (over 100) and I installed them along with rebooting. These updates seemed to mess with my video driver but I seemed to have fixed this. My problem is that my applications do not show anywhere. I can open them via terminal or if there are shortcuts (such as on the toolbar) but if I hit Super and go to Apps, there is nothing. This is true if I hit Super and search any app name nothing will come back (except for files). I need help to understand what happened! Also for some reason I can't upgrade to 12.10 (I assume because I have 12.04 and not 12.04.1, which I don't understand how to get).

• Using sub filters/queries in Google App Engine

  Hi, I'm trying to use figure out how to sub query a query that uses a filter. From what I've figured out so far while using .filter() it changes the original query, that leads to a second .filter() would also have to match the first filter. I would like to make something like this: modules = data.Modules.all().filter('page = ', page.key()) modules.filter('name = ', 'Test') modules.filter('name = ', 'Test2') I can't get the "Test2" filter to work. The only solution I have at the moment is to make all new queries. data.Modules.all().filter('page = ', page.key()).filter('name = ', "Test").get() data.Modules.all().filter('page = ', page.key()).filter('name = ', "Test2").get() Or write the same as an GQL. But for me it seams quite stupid way to go. I've looked at using ancestors, but I don't quite understand it and honestly don't know if that's the way to go. Any ideas? ..fredrik

• Problem performance datawarehouse with lots of indexes

  Our product takes tests of some 350 candidates at the same time. At the end of the test, results for each candidate are moved to a datawarehouse full of indexes on it. For each test there's some 400 records to be entered in datawarehouse. So 400 x 350 is a lot of records. If there are not much records in the datawarehouse, all goes well. But if there are already lots of records in the datawarehouse, then a lot of inserts fail... Is there a way to have indexes that are only rebuild at the end of the day or isn't that the real problem? Or how would you solve this?

• Can Hudson branch promotion get based on project stability?

  Hudson CI server displays stability "weather" which is cool. And it allows one project build to kick off based on the successful build of another. However, how can you make that secondary project dependent additionally on the stability of multiple builds of the first project? Specifically, project "stable_deploy" needs to only kick off to promote a version to "stable" if project "integrate" with version 8.3.4.1233 has built and tested successfully at least 8 times--in a row. Until then, it's still in integration mode. IMPORTANT: A significant caveat to this is that a single set of Hudson projects gets used as a "pipeline" to process each new version through to release. So a project may have built successfully 8 times in a rolw but the latest version 8.3.4.1233 may be only the 2 most recent builds. The builds prior to that may be an earlier version. We're open to completely reorganizing this but the pipeline idea seemed to greatly reduce the amount of manually project creation and deletion. Is there a better way to track version release "pipeline"? In particular, we will have multiple versions in this pipeline simultaneously in the future due to fixes or patches to older versions. We don't see how to do that yet, except to create new pipeline projects for each version which is a real hassle. Here's some background details: The TickZoom application has some very complete unit tests some of which simulates real time trading environments. Add to that TickZoom makes elaborate use of parallelization for leveraging multi-core computers. Needless to say, during development of a new version, there can be stability issues during integration testing which get uncovered by running the build and auto tests repeatedly. A version which builds and tests cleanly 8 times in a row without change plus has undergone some real world testing by users can be deemed "stable" and promoted to the stable branch. Our Hudson projects look like this: test - Only for testing a build, zero user visibility. integrate_deploy - Promotes a test project build to integrate branch and makes it available to public for UA testing. integrate - Repeatedly builds the integrate branch to determine if it's stable enough to promote to stable branch. This runs the builds and test hourly throughout every night. stable_deploy - Promotes an integrate project build to the stable branch and makes it public for users who want the latest and greatest. stable - Builds the stable branch once every night. After 2 weeks of successful builds (14 builds) it can go to "release candidate". And so on... it continues with "release candidate" and then "release".

• Graphics on boot split into three sections

  I just installed 13.04 onto a new laptop because of the ease of install with the uefi bios. When I boot the system though, the screen is split into three sections each about 640x200 at the top of the screen, with the active terminal mirrored across them. Although I can login, startx fails due to something about a file. I have tried booting with vga=711 and normal nomodeset with no success. Booting the live usb I originally installed from results in the same issue. The graphics driver in the xorg.conf.something from what I can make out is set to vesa, but it could be set to some other four character value that is similar to vesa, hard to tell. How can I fix this? One thing to note, the laptop has two dedicated GT 750m's, along with the intel 4000 built into the processor. This is what it looks like, the purple box is what the grub2 menu was in before boot.

  The IETF recommends to use base64 encoding for binary cookie values. http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-httpstate-cookie-07 So I use setrawcookie(..) but I don't know what variable to use to get the cookie back because $_COOKIE[..] still uses the URL decoding that matches setcookie(..). • Is x a reserved keyword in Javascript FF/Safari not in IE?

  A web page of a web application was showing a strange error. But when clicking on IMG element it shows a number as if x function got in some way removed from memory or deinstantiated (it does not even show x as "undefined" but as a number). To let you test it quickly I placed the working test above also here. This can be reproduced on both Firefox 3.6 and Safari 4.0.4. Everything works properly only on IE7+. I'm really clueless, I was wondering if x is maybe a reserved keyword in JS Firefox/Safari. Thanks to anyone who could help! FYI: if you repalce x() with z() everything work prefectly in all browsers (this is even more crazy to me) adding a real image in src attribute does not fix the problem removing style in img does not fix the problem (i gave style to image only to help you clicking on image thus you can see the imnage border)

• Coldfusion 9 installation problem with IIS7

  Windows web server 2008 R2 64 bit, CF9 64 bit, IIS7, ISAPI extensions and filters and II6 metabase compatability installed. OS is on C default, and trying to install CF to D: Testing IIS and it shows index.html correctly from c:\inetpub\wwwroot at http://localhost/index.html Then I install CF to D:\ , single standard server licence, select run with all IIS sites, select C:\inetpub\wwwroot as the web root for administrator, and when it gets to the bit where it is supposed to open up administrator to complete the installation it opens up the browser with a 500 error. Now when I go back to http://localhost/index.html I also get a 500 error, if i uninstall CF I can again reach the html page. CFIDE has been installed in C:\inetpub\wwwroot presumably correctly. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong please. Update The exact IIS error is HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. • Why differs floating-point precision in C# when separated by parantheses and when separated by state

  I am aware of how floating point precision works in the regular cases, but I stumbled on an odd situation in my C# code. Why aren't result1 and result2 the exact same floating point value here? const float A; // Arbitrary value const float B; // Arbitrary value float result1 = (A*B)*dt; float result2 = (A*B); result2 *= dt; From this page I figured float arithmetic was left-associative and that this means values are evaluated and calculated in a left-to-right manner. The full source code involves XNA's Quaternions. I don't think it's relevant what my constants are and what the VectorHelper.AddPitchRollYaw() does. • Why isn't my monitor's native resolution appearing as an option?

  I'm on a clean install of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. My monitor's native resolution is 1280x1024. However, in the Monitor Preferences application, I am only presented with 640x480 and 800x600 as options. My video card is an on board Matrox G200eW. I tried installing the proprietary driver from Matrox's website, but the installer immediately throws four errors. I also tried using xrandr to set my resolution, but it simply pops back saying "Size 1280x1024 not found in available modes." How can I get 1280x1024 added to my available sizes to that I can switch to it?

  I built a assembly which is a class library, for example lib.dll . And I also have a application to access this lib, for example test.exe. I changed the security permission for the test.exe to "intranet". At the same time, I want to change lib.dll to "Internet" like this: (Because I want to do some testing for security.) CasPol.exe -m -ag 1.2 -strong -file lib.dll lib 1.0.0.0 Internent But it seems the lib.dll can not get the security permission as I wanted. What is wrong with the command? • GNOME Shell Overview animation is slow on my NVIDIA 320M

  I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on my MacBook Air 11" (late 2010 model 3,1). Compiz runs fine, as well as most of GNOME Shell's animations. The animation for switching to and from GNOME Shell overview is just very slow. Unfortunately, it's the most common animation on Shell. I already applied cd ~/gnome-shell/source/gnome-shell curl http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=157326 > shell-animations-nvidia.patch git am shell-animations-nvidia.pat that I found from http://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell/SwatList , but the issue's still here. How do I fix this? EDIT: Apparently, it's an NVIDIA driver bug, which has something to do with the message tray. Is this correct? How do I go around this issue?

  Hi. I'm trying to accomplish the following layout, and I'm almost there, except for the last green div, which is going lower and lower depending on the content of the content (white) div. If I set a value for the TOP property for the green div, and then I add some more text to the content div, the green div goes lower and lower. Since the green div is child to the main container div, and the green div is relatively positioned, isn't it supposed to be placed specifically at the position indicated by the TOP value of it? If I'm incorrect...can someone please tell me how can i make it so that the green div is always displayed at the same spot within the container (gray) div, regardless of the height of the content/white div? • Unit tests only run automatically when active SDK is "simulator"?

  I have followed the instructions Apple publishes for unit testing applications on iPhone and things work great when I set the active SDK to "iPhone Simulator". I have it configured to always build and run my tests as part of building the application itself. Apple implies (by omission) that this should work all of the time, but the tests are skipped when I set the active SDK to "iPhone Device". I am also linking with OCMock, and instead of a failing test, this warning is in the build log: ld: warning: in .../build/Debug-iphoneos/OCMock.framework/OCMock, missing required architecture arm in file It's very nice to make the unit test bundle a dependency of the main application, so these tests run at every build, but its utility is greatly diminished if it doesn't work during device builds. Is this a known, but undocumented, limitation?

• Mongomapper query collection problem

  When I define the User has_many meetings, it automatically creates a "user_id" key/value pair to relate to the User collections. Except I can't run any mongo_mapper finds using this value, without it returning nil or []. Meeting.first(:user_id = "1234") Meeting.all(:user_id = "1234") Meeting.find(:user_id = "1234") All return nil. Is there another syntax?
