• Printing a dynamic sheet as one document

  I have a spreadsheet structured as follows: Summary section at the top Detail section on the bottom Summary section summarizes the detail section which is filtered using auto filters There are ten products that all need to be printed individually, but I want the page footer to show the overall page position of all the print jobs and the total number of pages. That is probably not clear. So for example, if I print the two page Product A view it will print page 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. If I print the one page Product B it will show page 1 of 1. What I want is to print both and have Product A show Page 1 of 3, Page 2 of 3, and Product B be Page 3 of 3. Is there any way to accomplish this?

  Visual studio 2010 is a Great IDE(Integrated Development Environment) and we all are using it in day by day for our coding purpose. There are many great features provided by Visual Studio 2010 and Today I am going to show one of great feature called for code refactoring. This feature is one of the most unappreciated features of Visual Studio 2010 as lots of people still not using that and doing stuff manfully. So to explain feature let’s create a simple console application which will print first name and last name like following. Now I am selecting three lines of code and clicking on refactor –> Extract Method just like following. Once you click menu a dialog box will appear like following. • Setup basic proxypass in Apache

  I have a web application that communicates to a web service deployed on the same server. The web app was written with Tibco General Interface and works well only when it is running locally on the development system. When I deploy the web app to the Apache server it fails with code 200 apparently due to cross domain data. I use Firefox as a browser. I have tried changing Internet Explorer to access cross domain data and it works however IE is not an option. Web application runs on 192.168.2.205 (port 80). Web service runs on 192.168.2.205:8040 I have tried a number of things with proxypass inside Apache with no luck.

• SPRoleAssignment Crazy Caviats

  I’m not sure if this bug exists on any other environment, but here are a few issues I ran into when trying to use SPRoleAssignment and SPGroup: When trying to use Web.Groups[“GroupName”] it basically told me the group did not exist, so I had to change the code to use Web.SiteGroups[“GroupName”]. I could not add the Role Assignment to the Web and run a Web.Update() without adding an additional Web.AllowUnsafeUpdates= true; , however on my virtual machine I could do a Web.Update() without the extra piece of code.  I kept receiving an error in my browser stating that I should hit the back button and update my permissions. So after fixing those two issues I was able to copy the permissions from a page item into a Site for my migration.  Hopefully, one of you can learn from my error messages if you have any issues in the future. • Issues printing through ssh tunnel and port forwarding

  I'm having some problems trying to print through a ssh tunnel. I'd like to print from my laptop to a network printer (Toshiba es453, for what matters) which is in a local network. I can reach the local network using a gateway. So far I did the following: ssh -N -L19100:<Printer_IP>:9100 <username>@<ssh_gateway> Basically i just mapped the port 19100 of my laptop directly to the input port of the printer, passing through the gateway. So far, so good. Then, i tried to install on my laptop a new printer with the GUI config tool of ubuntu, so that the new printer is on localhost at port 19100 (as APP Socket/HP Jet Direct) , then I provided the proper driver of the printer. In theory, once the tunnel is open I should be able to print from any program just selecting this printer. From a machine inside the local network I did a telnet <IP_printer> 9100, got access, wrote some random thing, closed the connection and correctly I got a print of what I had written. So the port and the ip of the printer should be correct. I tried the same from my laptop with the tunnel opened, the telnet succeeded but, again, the printer didn't print anything, getting the usual channel x: open failed: errors. I'm not a great expert on the matter, I just thought that in theory it was possible to do something like that, but maybe there is something that I didn't consider or I did wrong. Any clue? Thanks! Simone [update] As further debugging test, I tried to replicate the procedure from a machine in the local network. From that machine, I did ssh -N -L19100:<IP_printer>:9100 <username>@<ssh_gateway> (note that now the machine, the gateway and the printer are in the same local network) then I tried again the telnet test with telnet localhost 19100, I got access and everything, but I didn't get the print but the usual error channel 2: open failed: connect failed: Connection timed out Maybe I am missing some other connection to be forwarded or maybe this is not allowed by the administrators. Of course, if I connect via ssh tunneling to the local machine from my laptop through the gateway, I can successfully print using the lpr command (from the local machine). But this is what I would like to avoid (yes, I'm lazy...:-), I would like to have a more 'elegant' and transparent way to do that.

• What are the main programmers web sites in other countries?

  Looking at the demographics of sites like this one, there seems to be a very heavy US weighing of users. I know there have been discussions about using English as a programmer, but the are some large countries with large programmer bases that must be using localized sites. Countries like Brazil and China, in particular, what sites do programmers go for discussions? Do a lot of the threads link up to English speaking sites like these? In France they obviously prefer their own language, what do the equivalent sites look like? I don't want to turn this into an English language speaking discussion like this one, it's more a general trans-cultural programming curiosity.

• Using multiple A-records for my domain - do web browsers ever try more than one?

  If I add multiple A-records for my domain, they are returned in a round robin order by DNS-servers. E.g: 1.1.1.1 A example.com 1.1.1.2 A example.com 1.1.1.3 A example.com But how does webbrowsers react if the first host (1.1.1.1) is down (unreachable)? do they try the second host (1.1.1.2) or do they return a error message to the user? Are there any difference between the most popular browsers? If I implement my own application, I can implement so that the second is used in case the first is down, so it's possible. And this would be very helpful to create a fault tolerant website.

Although I have all this installed when in Chrome I go to a website which needs jre it can't find it. How can I fix it ?

  On some servers we have many old Virtual Directories created for previous versions of our application. IIS user interface allows to delete only one in a time. Fortunately we can use IIS scripts as described in How to manage Web sites and Web virtual directories by using command-line scripts in IIS 6.0 I've created batch file DeleteOldVDirs.cmd rem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816568 rem syntax: iisvdir /delete WebSite [/Virtual Path]Name [/s Computer [/u [Domain\]User /p Password]] REM list all directories and create batch of deletes iisvdir /query "Default Web Site" echo "Enter Ctrl-C  if you want to stop deleting" Pause iisvdir /delete "Default Web Site/VDirName1" iisvdir /delete "Default Web Site/VDirName2" ...   If the name of WebSite or Virtual directory contain spaces(e.g  "Default Web Site"), don't forget to use double quotes. Note that the batch doesn't delete physical directories from flie system.You need to delete them using Windows Explorer, but it does support multiple selection!

  I am a big game development fan but I haven't done any commercial work in the past. I have been asked by a non-profit to look at developing a game similar to the award-winning www.playspent.org They want the following features: support 5 scenarios mobile isn't important but compatibility with older browsers would be a big bonus they want it to be visual and audible bonus is to have it easily modifiable support 4 languages I don't have much knowledge of Flash and would rather avoid using it as a solution. I started breaking down the problem into segments that I will need to examine, they are as follows: ability to read the game flow from a file that they can produce (xml, etc.) db design to store decision tree language challenge browser compatibility I am leaning towards an Google app engine/GWT solution but I am not sure what technology is best for this. I am really hoping to get your opinion/recommendation on my approach and on what technology is best. A special thanks (and beer if you live in Toronto) will be awarded to anyone who can help give me a ballpark estimate on how much such a game should go for. On a site like http://p2theme.com/ as you scroll down you see that content is arranged into screen-sized chunks, each with its own chunk of content, each with a different background color, making them visually distinctive. I've seen this used more and more frequently on websites, but don't know what it's called. People have tried telling me "responsive design" or "flat UI" or "infinite scroll" or "parallax" -- but those are completely different things. What do you call this technique?

I know that IE has an option to print background but Chrome does not.   I have an object containing the results of a computation. This computation is performed in a function which accepts an input object and returns the result object. The result object has a print method. This print method must print out the results, but in order to perform this operation I need the original input object. I cannot pass the input object at printing because it would violate the signature of the print function. One solution I am using right now is to have the result object hold a pointer to the original input object, but I don't like this dependency between the two, because the input object is mutable. How would you design for such case ?

• Some websites are not opening in any web browser (firefox/chrome). What should I do? [closed]

  Some websites are not opening in my system. I am using Ubuntu 12.10. Earlier, when I was using Ubuntu 10.10,11.10 there was no such issue. The problem was started in ubuntu 12.04, but it remained the same even after formatting and installing ubuntu 12.10. I have tried Firefox as well as Chromium and I am sure the issue is not with the browser. same websites are opening perfectly with Windows. Google, Twitter and Ubuntu related websites are running perfect. Other websites like www.downrightnow.com, easy-mantra.com, facebook.com, sourceforge.net are not opening. Installed dual boot with win xp. Ubuntu 12.10 is 64 bit. Processor Intel core i3, RAM 4GB. $ cat /etc/resolv.conf <-- Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8) -- DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN -- output --> nameserver 127.0.1.1
