  • Problem with onRetainNonConfigurationInstance

    I am writing a small app using the Android SDK, 1.6 target, and the Eclipse plug-in. I have layouts for both portrait and landscape mode, and most everything is working well. I say most because I am having issues with the orientation change. One part of the app has a ListView "on top of" another section. That section consists of 4 checkboxes, a button, and some TextViews. That is the portrait version. The landscape version replaces the ListView with a Spinner and rearranges some of the other components (but leaves the ALL resource ids the same). While in either orientation things work like they should. It's when the app switches orientation that things go off. Only 1 of the checkboxes maintains it's state throughout both layout changes. The other three CBs only maintain their state when going from landscape-portrait. I am also having problem getting the ListView/Spinner to correctly set themselves on changing. I am using onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() and creating a custom object that is returned. When I step through the code during a orientation change, the custom object is successfully pulled back out the the ether, and the widgets are being set to the correct values (inspecting them).   • Searching for Windows User SID's in C#

    Context Context first - issues I'm trying to resolve are below. One of our clients has asked as to quote how long it would take for us to improve one of our applications. This application currently provides basic user authentication in the form of username/password combinations. This client would like the ability for their employees to log-in using the details of whatever Windows User account is currently logged in at the time of running the application. It's not a deal-breaker if I tell them know - but the client might be willing to pay the costs of development to add this feature to the application. It's worth looking into. Based on my hunting around, it seems like storing the user login details against Domain\Username will be problematic if those details are changed. But Windows User SID's aren't supposed to change at all. I've got the impression that it would be best to record Windows Users by SID - feel free to relieve me of that if I'm wrong. I've been having a fiddle with some Windows API calls. From within C#, grabbing the current user's SID is easy enough. I can already take any user's SID and process it using LookupAccountSid to get username and domain for display purposes. For the interested, my code for this is at the end of this post. That's just the tip of the iceberg, however. The two issues below are completely outside my experience. Not only do I not know how to implement them - I don't even known how to find out how to implement them, or what the pitfalls are on various systems. Any help getting myself aimed in the right direction would be very much appreciated. Issue 1) Getting hold of the local user at runtime is meaningless if that user hasn't been granted access to the application. We will need to add a new section to our application's 'administrator console' for adding Windows Users (or groups) and assigning within-app permissions against those users. Something like an 'Add Windows User Login' button that will raise a pop-up window that will allow the user to search for available Windows User accounts on the network (not just the local machine) to be added to the list of available application logins. If there's already a component in .NET or Windows that I can shanghai into doing this for me, it would make me a very happy man. Issue 2) I also want to know how to take a given Windows User SID and check it against a given Windows User Group (probably taken from a database). I'm not sure how to get started with this one either, though I expect it to be easier than the issue above.     Hi, I have extended Django's User Model using a custom user profile called UserExtension. It is related to User through a unique ForeignKey Relationship, which enables me to edit it in the admin in an inline form! I'm using a signal to create a new profile for every new user: def create_user_profile(sender, instance, created, **kwargs): if created: try: profile, created = UserExtension.objects.get_or_create(user=instance) except: pass post_save.connect(create_user_profile, sender=User) (as described here for example: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/44109/extending-the-user-model-with-custom-fields-in-django) The problem is, that, if I create a new user through the admin, I get an IntegritiyError on saving "column user_id is not unique". It doesnt seem that the signal is called twice, but i guess the admin is trying to save the profile AFTERWARDS? But I need the creation through signal if I create a new user in other parts of the system!

You can even nest it the spec to prototype deeper elements, should you choose. var fop = Object.spawn(bar, { a: 'fast', b: Object.spawn(quux,{ farple: 'deep' }), c: 'prototyping' }); This can help avoid hopping into an object's prototype unintentionally in a long object name like: foo.bar.quux.peanut = 'farple'; If quux is part of the prototype and not foo's own object, your change to 'peanut' will actually change the protoype, affecting all objects prototyped by foo's prototype object. But I digress... My question is this. Because your spec can itself be another object and that object could itself have properties from it's prototype in your new object - and you may want those properties...(at least you should be aware of them before you decided to use it as a spec)... I want to be able to grab all of the elements from all of the spec's prototype chain, except for the prototype object itself... This would flatten them into the new object.     I'm trying to use CoreServices on the iPhone simulator (I don't need it to run on a device), but my project won't build because of the error: ld: framework not found CoreServices Command /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 I've added the framework to my project, under frameworks. I also read you need to include CFNetwork.framework, so I've added that too. If I remove CoreServices.framework, the compiler complains about undeclared symbols, as you'd expect. So it seems to use the framework to compile those classes, but then complains it can't find the framework.

    (I'm a Noob with Antlr)... I'm having difficulties getting my grammar with StringTemplates. Basically I'm trying to write a little DSL. I can get my grammar the way I want (it parses correctly), but I can't get the generation of the target code to work with templates. So here's a snippet of my grammar: grammar Pfig; options { output=template; language=CSharp2; } conf : globalName ; globalName : 'GlobalName:' ID -> localConf(name ={$ID.text}) ; I simplified it quite a bit just to get the essence across. Basically, when the lex/parse comes across `GlobalName: Foo' I want it to spit out text based on the StringTemplate called 'localConf'. Super straightforward. So now, let's fire up the parser in a test app and have it process an input file. // C# processing a file with the lex/parser. // the 'app.pfig' file just has one line that reads 'GlobalName: Bla' using (FileStream fs = File.OpenRead("c:\\app.pfig")) { PfigParser parser = new PfigParser(new CommonTokenStream( new PfigLexer(new ANTLRInputStream(fs)))); using (TextReader tr = File.OpenText("./Pfig.stg")) { parser.TemplateLib = new StringTemplateGroup(tr); } var parseResult = parser.conf(); string code = parseResult.Template.ToString(); // Fail: template is null } I can step through the parser code and see that it correctly identifies my text and applies the stringTemplate correctly. The problem is that since this 'globalName' rule is a subrule of 'conf' it doesn't get executed directly--the method just finds it and returns. But the calling 'Conf' method does not keep the return value from the subrule--it goes to thin air. This means that my resultant template on the last line is null. If I get rid of the 'conf' rule in my grammar and call 'globalName' directly, it will work (since it's the only rule on the stack). But I obviously want more than one rule.     I'm hashing a file with one or more hash algorithms. When I tried to parametrize which hash types I want, it got a lot messier than I was hoping. I think I'm missing a chance to make better use of generics or LINQ.   • Using Java PDFBox library to write Russian PDF

    I am using a Java library called PDFBox trying to write text to a PDF. It works perfect for English text, but when i tried to write Russian text inside the PDF the letters appeared so strange. It seems the problem is in the font used, but i am not so sure about that, so i hope if anyone could guide me through this.     I am using a jquery plugin from [ FilamentGroup ] called DateRangePicker. I have a simple form with two text inputs for the start and end date that I bind the DateRangePicker to using this $('input.tbDate').daterangepicker({ dateFormat: 'mm/dd/yy', earliestDate: new Date(minDate), latestDate: new Date(maxDate), datepickerOptions: { changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, minDate: new Date(minDate), maxDate: new Date(maxDate) } }); I have a collapsible table above this form that when shown, moves the form and the elements that the daterangepicker plugin is bound to, down lower on the page, but the daterangepicker appears to keep the position from when it was actually created. What code could I put in the daterangepicker's onShow Callback to update its position to be next to the element is was initially bound to? Or is there some specific jquery method or plugin that I could chain to the daterangepicker plugin so that it will update its position correctly. This would come in handy for some other plugins that I use that don't seem to keep their position relative to other elements correctly either.
