  • Dynamic editor upload into web page. Need advice

    - by Andrew Florko
    Hello everybody, I am writing intranet site for tracking employees science activities in organization. There lots of editable information on each personal page (science degree, publications & so on) so I upload editor per request (user clicks "edit" and modal dialog with html editor: set of textboxes/comboboxes/autocomplete features & validation logic appears). Editor is html layout that is wrapped with jquery dialog plugin + some logic, written as javascript functions that should be invoked from the callee page (onsubmit, validate, afterLoad editor events). There are also attributes (editor preferrable with and height) that are passed to callee page also. Currently I send these functions & attribute as ... function onsubmit() { }; function validate() { } var width = 640; var height = 800 ... code that is embedded into the request page. Function calls and editor markup wrap with jquery plugin completed in the callee page. It works, but I have some try { call editor event handler } catch { } stuff in callee page (because not every editor provides these functions) and some attributes (editor width & height for instance) that are loaded as variables declared in javascript. Please, suggest, is there a better approach to build & use custom editors for my situation. Thank you in advance!

  • Is there "good" PRNG generating values without hidden state?

    - by actual
    I need some good pseudo random number generator that can be computed like a pure function from its previous output without any state hiding. Under "good" I mean: I must be able to parametrize generator in such way that running it for 2^n iterations with any parameters should cover all or almost all values between 0 and 2^n - 1, where n is the number of bits in output value. Combined generator output of n + p bits must cover all or almost all values between 0 and 2^(n + p) - 1 if I run it for 2^n iterations for every possible combination of its parameters, where p is the number of bits in parameters. For example, LCG can be computed like a pure function and it can meet first condition, but it can not meet second one. Say, we have 32-bit generator, m = 2^32 and it is constant, our p = 64 (two 32-bit parameters a and c), n + p = 96, so we must peek data by three ints from output to meet second condition. Unfortunately, condition can not be meet because of strictly alternating sequence of odd and even ints in output. To overcome this, hidden state must be introduced, but that makes function not pure and breaks first condition (period become much longer). Am I wanting too much?

  • Jquery toggle event is messing with checkbox value

    - by John McCollum
    Hi all, I'm using Jquery's toggle event to do some stuff when a user clicks a checkbox, like this: $('input#myId').toggle( function(){ //do stuff }, function(){ //do other stuff } ); The problem is that the checkbox isn't being ticked when I click on the checkbox. (All the stuff I've put into the toggle event is working properly.) I've tried the following: $('input#myId').attr('checked', 'checked'); and $(this).attr('checked', 'checked'); and even simply return true; But nothing is working. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong? Edit - thanks to all who replied. Dreas' answer very nearly worked for me, except for the part that checked the attribute. This works perfectly (although it's a bit hacky) $('input#myInput').change(function () { if(!$(this).hasClass("checked")) { //do stuff if the checkbox isn't checked $(this).addClass("checked"); return; } //do stuff if the checkbox isn't checked $(this).removeClass('checked'); }); Thanks again to all who replied.

  • JavaScript onClick() Display

    - by junaidkaps
    I have an array consisting of several objects containing Strings. I am successfully able to display the array by using: <td><p onclick="theMiddle(this)">The Middle</td> As you see from the td tag this is part of a table. Issue is that the browser opens up a new page to display my text. I have been trying to display the array above my table in a p tag. //JavaScript var arrayTheMiddle = new Array (showName.theMiddle, beginingTime.theMiddle, network.abc, duration.thirty, rating.general, description.theMiddle, showImage.theMiddle); function theMiddle(obj){ for(i=0; i < arrayTheMiddle.length; i++) { document.write(arrayTheMiddle[i] + "<br>"); } } //HTML File <p>Would like the array/function displayed here while the user clicks within the table below (entire table has not been listed)</p> <td><p onclick="theMiddle(this)">The Middle</td> Unfortunately I am constantly failing at utilizing get element by id to call my function which consists of an array. I have searched for all sorts of stuff, yet frankly I'm lost. Not even sure if my approach is correct at this point. I'm sure this is one of those simple things that are blowing over my head!

  • Simple problem with mod_rewrite in the Fat Free Framework

    - by ian
    I am trying to setup and learn the Fat Free Framework for PHP. http://fatfree.sourceforge.net/ It's is fairly simple to setup and I am running it on my machine using MAMP. I was able to get the 'hello world' example running just fin: require_once 'path/to/F3.php'; F3::route('GET /','home'); function home() { echo 'Hello, world!'; } F3::run(); But when I try to add in the second part, which has two routes: require_once 'F3/F3.php'; F3::route('GET /','home'); function home() { echo 'Hello, world!'; } F3::route('GET /about','about'); function about() { echo 'About Us.'; } F3::run(); I get a 404 error if I try the second URL: /about Not sure why one of the mod_rewrite commands would be working and not the other. Below is my .htaccess file: # Enable rewrite engine and route requests to framework RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule .* index.php [L,QSA] # Disable ETags Header Unset ETag FileETag none # Default expires header if none specified (stay in browser cache for 7 days) <IfModule mod_expires.c> ExpiresActive On ExpiresDefault A604800 </IfModule>

  • Any suggestions to improve my PDO connection class?

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys I am pretty new to pdo so I basically just put together a simple connection class using information out of the introductory book I was reading but is this connection efficient? If anyone has any informative suggestions, I would really appreciate it. class PDOConnectionFactory{ public $con = null; // swich database? public $dbType = "mysql"; // connection parameters public $host = "localhost"; public $user = "user"; public $senha = "password"; public $db = "database"; public $persistent = false; // new PDOConnectionFactory( true ) <--- persistent connection // new PDOConnectionFactory() <--- no persistent connection public function PDOConnectionFactory( $persistent=false ){ // it verifies the persistence of the connection if( $persistent != false){ $this->persistent = true; } } public function getConnection(){ try{ $this->con = new PDO($this->dbType.":host=".$this->host.";dbname=".$this->db, $this->user, $this->senha, array( PDO::ATTR_PERSISTENT => $this->persistent ) ); // carried through successfully, it returns connected return $this->con; // in case that an error occurs, it returns the error; }catch ( PDOException $ex ){ echo "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. • Using array instead of lots of db queries in PHP

    - by Tural Teyyuboglu
    My function looks like that. It works but does lots of work (recursively calls itself and does lots of db queries.). There must be another way to do same thing but with array (with one query). I can't figure out how to modify this function to get it work with array. Please help. function genMenu($parent, $level, $menu, $utype) { global $db; $stmt=$db->prepare("select id, name FROM navigation WHERE parent = ? AND menu=? AND user_type=?") or die($db->error); $stmt->bind_param("iii", $parent, $menu, $utype) or die($stmt->error); $stmt->execute() or die($stmt->error); $stmt->store_result(); /* bind variables to prepared statement */ $stmt->bind_result($id, $name) or die($stmt->error); if ($level > 0 && $stmt->num_rows > 0) { echo "\n<ul>\n"; } while ($stmt->fetch()) { echo "<li>"; echo '<a href="?page=' . $id . '">' . $name . '</a>'; //display this level's children genMenu($id, $level+1, $menu, $utype); echo "</li>\n\n"; } if ($level > 0 && $stmt->num_rows > 0) { echo "</ul>\n"; } $stmt->close(); }

  • Handling Apache Thrift list/map Return Types in C++

    - by initzero
    First off, I'll say I'm not the most competent C++ programmer, but I'm learning, and enjoying the power of Thrift. I've implemented a Thrift Service with some basic functions that return void, i32, and list. I'm using a Python client controlled by a Django web app to make RPC calls and it works pretty well. The generated code is pretty straight forward, except for list returns: namespace cpp Remote enum N_PROTO { N_TCP, N_UDP, N_ANY } service Rcon { i32 ping() i32 KillFlows() i32 RestartDispatch() i32 PrintActiveFlows() i32 PrintActiveListeners(1:i32 proto) list<string> ListAllFlows() } The generated signatures from Rcon.h: int32_t ping(); int32_t KillFlows(); int32_t RestartDispatch(); int32_t PrintActiveFlows(); int32_t PrintActiveListeners(const int32_t proto); int64_t ListenerBytesReceived(const int32_t id); void ListAllFlows(std::vector<std::string> & _return); As you see, the ListAllFlows() function generated takes a reference to a vector of strings. I guess I expect it to return a vector of strings as laid out in the .thrift description. I'm wondering if I am meant to provide the function a vector of strings to modify and then Thrift will handle returning it to my client despite the function returning void. I can find absolutely no resources or example usages of Thrift list< types in C++. Any guidance would be appreciated.

  • jQuery AJAX PHP JSON problem

    - by Curro
    Hi Gurus I'm facing the problem of receiving an empty array when I do an AJAX request in the following way: This is the code I'm executing in JavaScript: <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/jquery.json.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ /* Preparar JSON para el request */ var mJSON = new Object; mJSON.id_consulta = new Array; for (var i=0; i<3; i++){ mJSON.id_consulta[i] = new Object; mJSON.id_consulta[i].id = i; } var sJSON = $.toJSON(mJSON); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "getUbicaciones.php", data: sJSON, dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function(respuesta){ alert(respuesta); }, error: function (request,error){ alert("Error: " + request.statusText + ". " + error); } }); }); </script> And this is the code under PHP: <?php /* Decodificar JSON */ $m_decoded = $_POST; print_r($m_decoded); exit; ?> And all I get from this, using Chrome's Developer Tools is an empty array: Array ( ) Any clues on what am I doing wrong? The string sJSON is being encoded correctly, this is what I get when I do an "alert" on that one: {"id_consulta":[{"id":1},{"id":2},{"id":3}]} Thank you everyone in advance!

  • jQuery $.ajax calls success handler when reuqest fails because of browser reloading

    - by Martin
    I have the following code: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: url, data: sendable, dataType: "json", success: function(data) { if(customprocessfunc) customprocessfunc(data); }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown){ // error handler here } }); I have a timer which makes AJAX requests often. If I do not receive anything in 'data', I show an error message to the user - it means, something wnet bad on the server. The problem is when user reloads the page while the AJAX call is in progress. I can see in the firebug that the AJAX call fails (URL is colored red and no HTTP status is displayed) so I expect that jQuery will stop the reuqest or at least go to the error handler. But it goes to the success handler and passes null in the 'data' variable. As a result, when user reloads the page, sometimes he can see my big red message about unknown error (because data is null). Is there any way to make jQuery abort the request on complete reloading all at least not to call my success function? I have no way to know in the success handler why the data is null - did it came empty from the server or the call was aborted because of reload.

  • How to detect what allowed character in current Regular Expression by using JavaScript?

    - by Soul_Master
    In my web application, I create some framework that use to bind model data to control on page. Each model property has some rule like string length, not null and regular expression. Before submit page, framework validate any binded control with defined rules. So, I want to detect what character that is allowed in each regular expression rule like the following example. "^[0-9]$" allow only digit characters like 1, 2, 3. "^[a-zA-Z_][a-zA-Z_-0-9]+$" allow only a-z, - and _ characters However, this function should not care about grouping, positioning of allowed character. It just tells about possible characters only. By the way, complex regular expression like find two words near(\bword1\W+(?:\w+\W+){1,6}?word2\b) must be ignore to verify and it should return any characters is possible. Do you have any idea for creating this function? PS. I know it easy to create specified function like numeric only for allowing only digit characters. But I need share/reuse same piece of code both data tier(contains all model validator) and UI tier without modify anything. Thanks

  • Symfony2 entity field type alternatives to "property" or "__toString()"?

    - by Polmonino
    Using Symfony2 entity field type one should specify property option: $builder->add('customers', 'entity', array( 'multiple' => true, 'class' => 'AcmeHelloBundle:Customer', 'property' => 'first', )); But sometimes this is not sufficient: think about two customers with the same name, so display the email (unique) would be mandatory. Another possibility is to implement __toString() into the model: class Customer { public $first, $last, $email; public function __toString() { return sprintf('%s %s (%s)', $this->first, $this->last, $this->email); } } The disadvances of the latter is that you are forced to display the entity the same way in all your forms. Is there any other way to make this more flexible? I mean something like a callback function: $builder->add('customers', 'entity', array( 'multiple' => true, 'class' => 'AcmeHelloBundle:Customer', 'property' => function($data) { return sprintf('%s %s (%s)', $data->first, $data->last, $data->email); }, ));

  • Can't access dynamically generated div with Jquery

    - by Bug Magnet
    Still trying to get my head around JQuery and dynamically generated content. I have the following code that is dynamically generated with JQuery whenever a user clicks on an 'Add' button: <div id="practices_div" style="border-top: 1px dotted gray"> <br/> <a href="#" class="remove_link" rel="practices_div">Remove</a> ....content goes here </div> The JQuery code that dynamically loads the above content is as follows: $.ajax({ url: '/addAjax.html', success: function(response) { $('#container').append(response); } }); What I'm trying to do is when a user clicks on the Remove link, JQuery should hide and delete the dynamically generated content from the page. The code that does this is as follows: $('.remove_link').live('click', function() { if (confirm("Remove this item?")) { $('#practices_div').fadeOut('medium', function() { $(this).remove(); }); } return false; }); So, when the content is dynamically loaded via Ajax, and I click on the Remove link, the Confirmation dialogue box is displayed and if I confirm, nothing happens. For some reason, JQuery is not able find the dynamically generated #practices_div. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

  • Combining XmlWriter objects?

    - by Kevin
    The way my application is structured, each component generates output as XML and returns an XmlWriter object. Before rendering the final output to the page, I combine all XML and perform an XSL transformation on that object. Below, is a simplified code sample of the application structure. Does it make sense to combine XmlWriter objects like this? Is there a better way to structure my application? The optimal solution would be one where I didn't have to pass a single XmlWriter instance as a parameter to each component. function page1Xml() { $content = new XmlWriter(); $content->openMemory(); $content->startElement('content'); $content->text('Sample content'); $content->endElement(); return $content; } function generateSiteMap() { $sitemap = new XmlWriter(); $sitemap->openMemory(); $sitemap->startElement('sitemap'); $sitemap->startElement('page'); $sitemap->writeAttribute('href', 'page1.php'); $sitemap->text('Page 1'); $sitemap->endElement(); $sitemap->endElement(); return $sitemap; } function output($content) { $doc = new XmlWriter(); $doc->openMemory(); $doc->writePi('xml-stylesheet', 'type="text/xsl" href="template.xsl"'); $doc->startElement('document'); $doc->writeRaw( generateSiteMap()->outputMemory() ); $doc->writeRaw( $content->outputMemory() ); $doc->endElement(); $doc->endDocument(); $output = xslTransform($doc); return $output; } $content = page1Xml(); echo output($content); Update: I may abandon XmlWriter altogether and use DomDocument instead. It is more flexible and it also seemed to perform better (at least on the crude tests I created).

  • addEventListener pass caller as argument

    - by Ryan
    Hi, I have the following code. And my problem is that when clicking, the event is firing but the argument passed is not the correct one. It is passing the last dynamically created row i.e. dataStructure.length value. Anyone knows a solution how to get around this? var table = document.getElementById('output'); for(i =0; i<dataStructure.length; i++){ var row = document.createElement('tr'); row.setAttribute('id', i); var url = dataStructure[i].url; if(document.addEventListener) row.addEventListener('click', function(){handleRowClick(i);}, false); var obj = dataStructure[i]; var cellCount = 0; for(field in obj){ var cell = document.createElement('td'); cell.setAttribute('id', cellCount++); //cell.addEventListener('click', function(){window.open(dataStructureObj.links[i].url);}, false); cell.innerHTML = obj[field]; row.appendChild(cell); } cellCount = 0; table.appendChild(row); } } function handleRowClick(rowClicked){ var rowHTML = rowClicked.innerHTML; var cells = rowHTML.getElementsByTagName('td'); for(cell in cells) { alert(cell.value); } window.open(cells[1].innerHTML); }

  • jQuery password strength plugin callback validation method

    - by jmorhardt
    I'm using a a jQuery plugin to evaluate password strength. It gives a graphical representation for the user to see how secure the password is. I'd like to use it to validate the field as well. The plugin works by assessing the password and giving it a score. I want to be able to verify that the user has entered a password of at least a certain score. The code is hosted on jQuery's site here: http://plugins.jquery.com/project/pstrength. The documentation states that there is a way to add a rule and do custom validation. I'm not sure where to start. The inline documentation states: * === Changelog === * Version 2.1 (18/05/2008) * Added a jQuery method to add a new rule: jQuery('input[@type=password]').pstrength.addRule(name, method, score, active) And later in the code there's this method: jQuery.extend(jQuery.fn.pstrength, { 'addRule': function (name, method, score, active) { digitalspaghetti.password.addRule(name, method, score, active); return true; }, 'changeScore': function (rule, score) { digitalspaghetti.password.ruleScores[rule] = score; return true; }, 'ruleActive': function (rule, active) { digitalspaghetti.password.rules[rule] = active; return true; } }); If anybody has seen an example of how to do this I'd appreciate a pointer in the right direction. Thanks!

  • WCF - "Encountered unexpected character 'c'."

    - by Villager
    Hello, I am trying to do something that I thought would be simple. I need to create a WCF service that I can post to via JQuery. I have an operation in my WCF service that is defined as follows: [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.WrappedRequest, RequestFormat=WebMessageFormat.Json, ResponseFormat=WebMessageFormat.Json)] public string SendMessage(string message, int urgency) { try { // Do stuff return "1"; // 1 represents success } catch (Exception) { return "0"; } } I then try to access this operation from an ASP.NET page via JQuery. My JQuery code to access this operation looks like the following: function sendMessage(message) { $.ajax({ url: "/resources/services/myService.svc/SendMessage", type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: ({ message: message, urgency: '1' }), dataType: "json", success: function (data) { alert("here!"); }, error: function (req, msg, obj) { alert("error: " + req.responseText); } }); } When I execute this script, the error handler is tripped. In it, I receive an error that says: "Encountered unexpected character 'c'." This message is included with a long stack trace. My question is, what am I doing wrong? I have received other posts such as this one (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/320291/how-to-post-an-array-of-complex-objects-with-json-jquery-to-asp-net-mvc-controll) without any luck. How do I get this basic interaction working? Thank you!

  • How to fetch particular element from string after splitting it, using XSLT split() ?

    - by Vijay
    Hi All, I have one query regarding XSLT functions. I am using split function to fetch values from a string. I am using separator as "*". e.g. String : {"item1*item2*item3*item4"} split function I am using is as; <xsl:template name="SplitItemsCollection"> <xsl:param name="list" select="''"/> <xsl:param name="separator" select="'*'"/> <xsl:if test="not($list = '' or $separator = '')"> <xsl:variable name="head" select="substring-before(concat($list, $separator), $separator)"/> <xsl:variable name="tail" select="substring-after($list, $separator)"/> <xsl:value-of select="$head"/> <xsl:call-template name="split"> <xsl:with-param name="list" select="$tail"/> <xsl:with-param name="separator" select="$separator"/> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:if> </xsl:template> This function returns me all the items.   • How to Refresh / Reload a KML layer in OpenLayers. Dynamic KML Layer.

    - by Ozaki
    TLDR See my answer below on how to refresh the layer. So far I have tried action function as follows: function RefreshKMLData(layer) { layer.loaded = false; layer.setVisibility(true); layer.redraw({ force: true }); } set interval of the function: window.setInterval(RefreshKMLData, 5000, KMLLAYER); the layer itself: var KMLLAYER = new OpenLayers.Layer.Vector("MYKMLLAYER", { projection: new OpenLayers.Projection("EPSG:4326"), strategies: [new OpenLayers.Strategy.Fixed()], protocol: new OpenLayers.Protocol.HTTP({ url: MYKMLURL, format: new OpenLayers.Format.KML({ extractStyles: true, extractAttributes: true }) }) }); the url for KMLLAYER with Math random so it doesnt cache: var MYKMLURL = var currentanchorpositionurl = 'http://' + host + '/data?_salt=' + Math.random(); I would have thought that this would Refresh the layer. As by setting its loaded to false unloads it. Visibility to true reloads it and with the Math random shouldn't allow it to cache? So has anyone done this before or know how I can get this to work? TLDR See my answer below on how to refresh the layer.

  • Reading from an write-only(OUT) parameter in pl/sql

    - by sqlgrasshopper5
    When I tried writing to an read-only parameter(IN) of a function, Oracle complains with an error. But that is not the case when reading from an write-only(OUT) parameter of a function. Oracle silently allows this without any error. What is the reason for this behaviour?. The following code executes without any assignment happening to "so" variable: create or replace function foo(a OUT number) return number is so number; begin so := a; --no assignment happens here a := 42; dbms_output.put_line('HiYA there'); dbms_output.put_line('VAlue:' || so); return 5; end; / declare somevar number; a number := 6; begin dbms_output.put_line('Before a:'|| a); somevar := foo(a); dbms_output.put_line('After a:' || a); end; / Here's the output I got: Before a:6 HiYA there VAlue: After a:42

  • Broken JS Loop with Google Maps...

I haven't changed the working code, but i did wrap it in the for...in loop youll see below. In the popup I have the following code: var bookmarks = []; function appendBMTnode(node){ bookmarks.push([node[0].title, node[0].id]); } function addchildren(results){ for(x = 0; x < results.length; x++){ bookmarks.push([results[x].title, results[x].id]); chrome.bookmarks.getChildren(results[x].id, addchildren); } } function getallbookmarks(){ chrome.bookmarks.get('0', appendBMTnode); chrome.bookmarks.getChildren('0', addchildren); } console.debug(bookmarks.length); console.debug(bookmarks); Now, I would assume that the first command would issue the # of bookmarks I have. Indeed, when I use Chrome's debugger and add bookmarks.length to the watch list, 418 is the value. In the console of the debugger I can write bookmarks.length and it will give me the correct length. I can type for(x = 0; x < bookmarks.length; x++){ console.debug(bookmarks[x]); } and I get string representations of each inner array. However, that original console.debug(bookmarks.length) gives an output of zero. And if I add console.debug(bookmarks[0]); to the popup.html it tells me that the value is undefined. This seems like a bug to me, but my real question is how can I iterate over this list? Thanks

  • JSON Array Created in PHP/MySQL incorrectly decoded using JQuery

    - by Zak
    I am attempting to make an AJAX call to a very small PHP script that should return me an array that could be echo'd and decoded using JQuery. Here is what I have: My PHP page called to by AJAX: $web_q=mysql_query("select * from sec_u_g where uid='$id' "); $rs = array(); while($rs[] = mysql_fetch_assoc($web_q)) { } print_r(json_encode($rs)); This outputs: [{"id":"3","uid":"39","gid":"16"},{"id":"4","uid":"39","gid":"4"},{"id":"5","uid":"39","gid":"5"},{"id":"6","uid":"39","gid":"6"},{"id":"7","uid":"39","gid":"7"},{"id":"8","uid":"39","gid":"8"},{"id":"9","uid":"39","gid":"9"},false] I don't understand the "false" at the end for one .. But then I send to to JQuery and use: $.each(json.result, function(i, object) { $.each(object, function(property, value) { alert(property + "=" + value); }); }); This just fails. I try to alert "result" by itself which is set by: $.post("get_ug.php",{id:txt},function(result){ }); My output alerts are as follows: 1) The key is '0' and the value is '[' 2) The key is '1' and the value is 'f' 3) The key is '2' and the value is 'a' 4) The key is '3' and the value is 'l' 5) The key is '4' and the value is 's' 6) The key is '5' and the value is 'e' 7) The key is '6' and the value is ']' 8) The key is '7' and the value is ' ' (<-- Yes the line break is there in the alert) I am exhausted from trying different ideas and scripts. Other than setting a delimiter myself and concatenating my own array and decoding it with a custom script, does anyone have any ideas?? Thank you!!
