  • IIS 6 Ram Allocation on Windows Server 2003

    0 down vote favorite share [g+] share [fb] share [tw] I have my IIS 6 running my website. It is on a Windows Server 2003 which has 4GB of RAM. I run SQL intensive code after the user submits a form (math statistics stuff). This process is not threaded (should it be, especially if 2 or more users run the same thing?). But my process seems to consume only a couple of GBs of memory and the server crawls. How do I get my IIS process to use nearly all the memory? I see on other sites that its 2GB or 3GB allocated using boot.ini. But is there another way for the process to use memory? If I make it multithreaded, will there be a process for each thread?

    ...when logged into a Server via remote Desktop? I see no way to Access Windows security. In "old" 2008 R2 there was a "Windows Security" entry in the start menu when coming via rdp. In the new Metro Start Menu, the username context menu allows me to lock the Computer or log out - but not Change the Password. Yes, I can go through user Management, but this is not something I want People to do ;)

    Hi Gods, We have windows server 2003 with isa 2004. Our clients uses internet with proxy. We have two isa rule: order name action protocolls from/listener to condition 1. trafic ALLOW all outbound all networks all networks all users 2. FTP ALLOW FTP Server EXTERNAL/INTERNAL/Local host 10.1.1.1 So we have to "bann" a few webpage (like facebook, youtube...etc...), so we make a new rule 0. banned DENY HTTP internal denied pages all users In the denied pages we have the *.facebook.com domain set. After we enable this rule, the entire internet slows down. The banning rule works well, redirect to an internal site, but the other sites.... If i open a page..it normally takes 3-10 sec to load, but after this rule this time is: 2-4 minutes.   • "RPC Server is unavailable" on Windows 7 Client with Samba3 making logon impossible

    I am running an Samba 3.4.* Server with LDAP Backend on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS as a PDC for purely Windows 7 Clients (about 50). It worked quite fine for a long time, but now sometimes on some machines (really strange to replicate) I cannot login, because he tells me that there are no logon servers. When I look in the machines eventlog after logging in locally, the only error it shows is: "RPC Server is unavailable". The system was ported quite a while back from another machine running the same software versions to this new one. Are there maybe trust or caching issues between the workstations and the domain controller? The number of machines affecting is steadily increasing and so do you know any reason as to why this problem occurs? Any information on workstation and domain trust would also be welcome (After googleing I did not find anything really enlightening).

    Hi We need to set up a website which makes two or three large files publicly available - the files will be 1 or 2 terrabytes each. Although they will be public, in practise I expect only a relatively small number of scientists will want to download them. What is the best way to allow this? I've had a quick talk to a web-hosting provider (rackspace) and they suggested a hybrid solution. An entry-level managed server (we predict fairly low traffic for the website, but we do need to install some custom CGI software). Some cloud storage which hooks into Limelight Networks. This would host the large files, for download by FTP. It sounded OK to me but I know relatively little about server administration. Does it make sense? Thanks in advance, Mark

    My server performance is poor. At times SSH, top, and other features or commands are very slow to respond, taking several seconds or more. A query that normally takes 5 minutes can sometimes take 30 minutes. The database is mostly being used to do a spatial query (grid and summarize) on approximately 500GB of stored data spread between 4 tables. Restarting the server works as a temporary fix, but cannot be used as a long term solution. Any suggestions for how to diagnose and solve my performance issues?     I have my users appdata (roaming) stored on a external server in the location that they're normally in. I have some users that are in two locations equally. This provides a problem when someone tries to open up Firefox on a computer in a location other than where their appdata is stored, it takes forever. Is there a way that I can clone the redirected appdata (roaming) folder to two locations and have the folder redirection look for appdata (roaming) based on the location that the user is at?

So where are the differences between a mobile account and a Time Machine Backup which is made over the network? Can the synchronized mobile Account be backup to an external Harddisk, if yes, how?

    I have a BIND DNS server running on my Windows 7 development machine and I'm serving pages with WAMPSERVER. My ideia is to develop some tools (in PHP) for my intranet at work and I want them to be accessible via LAN in this format: http://tools.mycompany.com I've already placed BIND and I can access http://tools.mycompany.com on the machine that holds BIND server, but I cannot access it from other LAN computers.     Hi, I want to bypass certificate checking. I tried using svn --trust-server-cert update, but I get an error, svn: invalid option: --trust-server-cert. I am on ubuntu and the svn version is 1.5.4. Is there any other way to bypass the certificate? Ubuntu won't automatically update my svn to 1.6.xx, which I think has this option. (In any case, I have heard that 1.6.xx has compatibility problems with some apache modules so is not fully safe to install?). Anyone with a suggestion? Thanks JP

We want to make it so that this automatically deletes (or preferably MOVES to another folder on the same shared drive) all the files that haven't been accessed in the last two weeks.     I'm currently running a Microsoft Server 2008 R2 box and want to utilize Volume Shadow Copy but my development machine doesn't have enough hard drive space for 30 days worth of copies, which is what I am aiming for and currently only have 5 days of backups. I have another Windows XP box and I was wondering if it was possible to remotely store the shadow copy images in my remote XP box. If it isn't possible with the built in Volume Shadow Copy, is there an open source alternative that I can utilize that has the same or similar functionality?

    Sorry the title couldn't be more specific. I installed Abyss Web Server. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and I have Wireless Mobile Broadband internet. I used to be able to access (and other people on other networks) my site by entering my ip address in the browser, but after I formatted, and the installed abyss web server again, this does not work anymore. There are no errors. I CAN visit my own site by entering my ip address BUT anybody else can't do the same, it just says "connecting" in the browser's statusbar and it never changes. I have consulted the docs and have found no help. Google hasn't helped with this problem either. Can somebody please help? Thank you :)

  • Public Folder not Visable from Front End Exchange 2003 Server

    I have a public folder that does not receive emails when the emails are sent via the Front-End Exchange Servers. When I go into the System Manager on the Front-End I don't see this particular public folder listed under the Public Folders. However, I do see it listed from the Front-End server. I see the emails that are not making it to the public folder listed in the local delivery queue on the front end server and they are in a retry state. Does anyone know how I might troubleshoot this?
