  • embedded web browser

    - by Ilya
Hi, I'm looking for Linux embedded web browser, or preferably just a rendering object (it will not be used for actual browsing, just for displaying web based gui). The requirements are: Written in C (small footprint) Support Dynamic HTML Support Java script Minimum dependencies on the libraries (although i understand that it can not be completely standalone) No Dependency on X11 (i.e working with direct frame qui libraries) So far i only found Embedded Konqueror. Any suggestions are welcomed, commercial solutions are OK, but open source is preferable.

  • SQL Compact - Hang on invalid file

    - by eWolf
I use Linq to Sql Compact with code generated by sqlmetal. When I open an invalid database, like eg an mp3, I can create the DataContext without getting an Exception. But when I query any data or call DatabaseExists, the application hangs. Why is no exception thrown? Is this a known problem?

  • How significant are JPA lazy loading performance benefits?

    - by Robert
I understand that this is highly specific to the concrete application, but I'm just wondering what's the general opinion, or at least some personal experiences on the issue. I have an aversion towards the 'open session in view' pattern, so to avoid it, I'm thinking about simply fetching everything small eagerly, and using queries in the service layer to fetch larger stuff. Has anyone used this and regretted it? And is there maybe some elegant solution to lazy loading in the view layer that I'm not aware of?

  • Image storage as a service

    - by Samuel
Google App Engine provides a image API for storing / retrieving images. We are currently not in a position to deploy our application on top of App Engine because of limitations in the java frameworks (jboss seam 2.2.0) we are using to build our j2ee application. We would eventually want to deploy our production application on top of Google App Engine, but what are the short term options (java based open source products) which provides comparable functionality to Google App Engine's Image API and will have an easier migration path at a later point in time.

  • How to emulate a real http request via cfhttp?

    - by maectpo
Hi, I need to emulate a real http request via cfhttp. I was getting rss feed with ColdFusion, but tonight they started to block my request and send an index page in response instead of rss fead. I added useragent for cfhttp, but it doesn't help. Opera, Firefox and Chrome open feed correctly from the same computer.

  • Python: HTTP Post a large file with streaming

    - by Daniel Von Fange
I'm uploading potentially large files to a web server. Currently I'm doing this: import urllib2 f = open('somelargefile.zip','rb') request = urllib2.Request(url,f.read()) request.add_header("Content-Type", "application/zip") response = urllib2.urlopen(request) However, this reads the entire file's contents into memory before posting it. How can I have it stream the file to the server?

Please tell me I can get my source code back :( EDIT: the .cpp file is blank, and i wasn't prompted for recovery when starting visual studio again. I already checked /documents/visualstudio/backup, nothing is there.

  • .NET and C# Exceptions. What is it reasonable to catch.

    - by djna
Disclaimer, I'm from a Java background. I don't do much C#. There's a great deal of transfer between the two worlds, but of course there are differences and one is in the way Exceptions tend to be thought about. I recently answered a C# question suggesting that under some circstances it's reasonable to do this: try { some work } catch (Exeption e) { commonExceptionHandler(); } (The reasons why are immaterial). I got a response that I don't quite understand: until .NET 4.0, it's very bad to catch Exception. It means you catch various low-level fatal errors and so disguise bugs. It also means that in the event of some kind of corruption that triggers such an exception, any open finally blocks on the stack will be executed, so even if the callExceptionReporter fuunction tries to log and quit, it may not even get to that point (the finally blocks may throw again, or cause more corruption, or delete something important from the disk or database). May I'm more confused than I realise, but I don't agree with some of that. Please would other folks comment. I understand that there are many low level Exceptions we don't want to swallow. My commonExceptionHandler() function could reasonably rethrow those. This seems consistent with this answer to a related question. Which does say "Depending on your context it can be acceptable to use catch(...), providing the exception is re-thrown." So I conclude using catch (Exception ) is not always evil, silently swallowing certain exceptions is. The phrase "Until .NET 4 it is very bad to Catch Exception" What changes in .NET 4? IS this a reference to AggregateException, which may give us some new things to do with exceptions we catch, but I don't think changes the fundamental "don't swallow" rule. The next phrase really bothers be. Can this be right? It also means that in the event of some kind of corruption that triggers such an exception, any open finally blocks on the stack will be executed (the finally blocks may throw again, or cause more corruption, or delete something important from the disk or database) My understanding is that if some low level code had lowLevelMethod() { try { lowestLevelMethod(); } finally { some really important stuff } } and in my code I call lowLevel(); try { lowLevel() } catch (Exception e) { exception handling and maybe rethrowing } Whether or not I catch Exception this has no effect whatever on the excution of the finally block. By the time we leave lowLevelMethod() the finally has already run. If the finally is going to do any of the bad things, such as corrupt my disk, then it will do so. My catching the Exception made no difference. If It reaches my Exception block I need to do the right thing, but I can't be the cause of dmis-executing finallys

  • how to implement ws-security 1.1 in php5

    - by Sam Segers
I'm trying to call a webservice with Soap in PHP5, for this, I need to use WS-Security 1.1. (In java and .NET this is all generated automatically.) Are there any frameworks available to generate the security headers easily in PHP? Or do I have to add the entire header myself ? Specifications of WS-Security 1.1: http://oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/16790/wss-1.1-spec-os-SOAPMessageSecurity.pdf

  • problem with fifos linux

    - by nunos
    I am having problem debugging why n_bytes in read_from_fifo function in client.c doesn't correspond to the value written to the fifo. It should only write 25 bytes but it tries to read a lot more (1836020505 bytes (!) to be exact). Any idea why this is happening? server.c: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <errno.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <sys/wait.h> #include <signal.h> #include <pthread.h> #include <sys/stat.h> typedef enum { false, true } bool; //first read the int with the number of bytes the data will have //then read that number of bytes bool read_from_fifo(int fd, char* var) { int n_bytes; if (read(fd, &n_bytes, sizeof(int))) { printf("going to read %d bytes\n", n_bytes); if (read(fd, var, n_bytes)) printf("read var\n"); else { printf("error in read var. errno: %d\n", errno); exit(-1); } } return true; } int main() { mkfifo("/tmp/foo", 0660); int fd = open("/tmp/foo", O_RDONLY); char var[100]; read_from_fifo(fd, var); printf("var: %s\n", var); return 0; } client.c: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <errno.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <fcntl.h> typedef enum { false, true } bool; //first write to fd a int with the number of bytes that will be written afterwards bool write_to_fifo(int fd, char* data) { int n_bytes = (strlen(data)) * sizeof(char); printf("going to write %d bytes\n", n_bytes); if (write(fd, &n_bytes, sizeof(int) != -1)) if (write(fd, data, n_bytes) != -1) return true; return false; } int main() { int fd = open("/tmp/foo", O_WRONLY); char data[] = "some random string abcdef"; write_to_fifo(fd, data); return 0; } Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Android Content Provider database leak issue

    - by MattC
I am writing a content provider for this application and in my content provider I am opening a database connection, running a query and returning the cursor of results to the calling program. If I close this database connection in the provider, the cursor has no results. If I leave it open, I get "leak found" errors in my DDMS log. What am I missing here? What's the clean, proper way to return a cursor of database results?
