• Dynamic fields with Thinking Sphinx

  Hi! I'm building an application where I have products and categories. Category has_many properties and each property has a list of possible values. After a category is set to the product all properties show up in the form and the user can set that property to one of the properties possible values. My question is: Is it possible for Thinking Sphinx to filter the products through a property and property value ex: :with => {:property_id => property_value} If it's possible, what is the best way to implement this? If not is there any other library out there to solve this problem? Thanks / Ola

  I have been struggling with this for some times.. I searched around but didnt get a solution yet. This is only an issue on production server. In my development environment, everything works just fine. I am using JQuery/Ajax to update product information based on product's Color attribute. for example, a product has A and B color, the price for color A is different from color B. When user choose different color, the price information is updated as well. • MVC in a Google App Engine Java world

  I'm coming to Java from C# & ASP.NET MVC, I'd love to find an equivalent in the Java world that I could use on the Google App Engine. I've already started to have a play with FreeMarker and even made the first steps towards writing a very simple framework. Ideally I wouldn't have to do all the hard work though, someone must have done this already! So my question is - what frameworks are there out there that would be familiar for me coming from ASP.NET MVC and I could use them on Google App Engine for Java. The key things I'd want are: Simple Routing - /products/view/1 gets mapped to the view action of the products controller with the productid of 1 Template Engine - some way of easily passing 'ViewData' to the view, and from the view easily accessing it, ideally I'd love to avoid anything that is too XMLy (thus why I like FreeMarker).

• Open protected web page passing in credentials programmatically

  I have code examples from some of my previous work that help me to post form values to a web page (login credentials) and retrieve the text from that page. Now I want to pass in form values (login credentials again) but actually open that web page in a browser given those credentials. How do I do that? I'm not doing anything nefarious. In our CRM app (home-grown as it is), I want to create a link button that opens our web site's protected products page given the user's credentials (based on the user's login credentials). Normally, I'd copy the user's credentials in our login page which then takes me to the products page. I'm trying to do this now by just clicking a link button. Any suggestions?

• Best practice for submits redirecting to another page in MVC2?

  I have a situation with my MVC2 app where I have multiple pages that need to submit different information, but all need to end up at the same page. In my old Web Forms app, I'd have just accomplished this in my btnSave_Click delegate with a Redirect. There are three different types of products, each of which need to be saved to the cart in a completely different manner from their completely different product pages. I'm not going to get into why or how they're different, just suffice to say, they're totally different. After they're saved to the cart, I need to "redirect" to the Checkout view. But it should be noted, that you can also just browse straight to the Checkout view without having to submit any products to add to the cart. Here's a diagram of what I'm trying to accomplish, and how I think I need to handle it: Is this correct? It seems like a common scenario, but I haven't seen any examples of how I should handle this.   Where do you have the most success getting your ArcGIS development questions answered? ESRI forums? Stack Overflow? Google? Mailing lists? Blog posts? ESRI documentation? I can usually get answers to my ASP.NET/Oracle/JavaScript/C# questions in short order, but questions about ESRI products and APIs are a different matter. Posts founder in the forums, Google returns void, etc. I'm sure this is not uncommon for niche commercial products, but frustrating nevertheless. What works for you? Please share.

  Rails appears to not be loading any fixtures for unit or functional tests. BTW, I am developing on Mac OS X 10.6 with Rail 2.3.5 and Ruby 1.8.7, no additional plugins (beyond the base install). Any pointers on how to debug, why the magic of Rails appears to be failing here? Is it a version problem? Can I trace code into the libraries and find the answer? There are so many "mixin" modules I can't find where the fixtures method really lives.

How does this differ from the System.Lazy<...> construct now available in .NET 4.0 (and perhaps earlier)? While inspecting the link, it displays the following: onclick="jQuery('#bulk_action').val('bulk_add_to_categories'); jQuery('#bulk_form').submit(); return false;" But when I click on it I get this error. I need to do something like this I need to have an separate UI for all the products that have came from that bulk action, and then put them into the selected categories, but I am not able to do that. Can anyone help me on this? Any help would be great. I have seen lot of tutorial and read the rails admin github page but I was not able to find anything helpful. Please guide me.

• Unit Testing Codeigniter Classes with fooStack - clashes

  I'm having 'fun' testing interactions in a CodeIgniter based web app. It seems when running the entire test suite "phpunit AllTests.php" it loads all of the test classes, their targets (Systems under Test) and creates a PHPUnit_Framework_TestSuite instance which presumably iterates over the classes which extend CIUnit_TestCase and runs them. The problem comes where you have multiple classes referencing another class (such as a library). As all the classes are loaded into the same process space, PHP reports "cannot redefine class xyz". Have I missed something here or doing something haenously wrong? In my test class i'm doing something like: include_once dirname(__FILE__).'/../CIUnit.php'; include_once dirname(__FILE__).'/../../libraries/ProductsService.php'; class testProductsService extends CIUnit_TestCase { public function testGetProducts_ReturnsArrayOfProducts(){ $service = new ProductsService(); $products = $service->getProducts(); $this->assertTrue(is_array($products)); } } The problem manifests as I have a controller which does: $this->load->library('ProductsService');

  Hi, I am working on integrating affiliate sales into few existing sites. We are using a few merchants who work via different networks (cj, shareasale, linkshare, avantlink). Now my observation is that all these networks provide data feeds in different formats. But that's not a big problem. My main concern is actually merchants using different titles on same products. I don't want to run into these situations: a) two listings of the SAME product from N merchants (if titles are just a bit different) b) one listing of N different products from merchants (if we don't use strict comparison algorithm) We want to automate everything as much as possible, want to avoid operators scanning listings under question all the time. How is this problem typically handled?

  Hello, I recently started with Magento and decided to migrate Interspire shopping cart I already made time ago to it. At first look Magento seems a very huge beast - lots of options, maybe lack of simplicity resulting in some performance loss. I've got user guide from which I am not getting much of benefit since there're just descriptions of very ordinary tasks that I could easily discover myself by poking around frontend/backend. So my first tasks are category and product export. Interspire seems to be exporting ONLY products in three available formats: Default MYOB Peachtree accounting I did some searching on Magento's product importing and found a blog post which says that I should create a few sample products with all the necessary attributes myself and then start the import. But what should I do with categories ? Is it possible to import them or instruct Magento to automatically create categories when importing product file if unknown category is encountered ? Thanks

  I have just installed VS C# Express 2008 which includes SQL Server Express 2008. It all went ok and I can see VS C# and SQL Server in the list of installed products. When I start VS C# it looks fine but in the DB Explorer / Data Conection context menu the option 'Create new SQL Server Database' is disabled. I have uninstalled all VS products and reinstalled but the problem remains. Do I need to do anything else? Can anyone help? Thanks

  Hi All I have a custom module I made to show featured products on the homepage. I set it up to show products that are in a ‘featured’ category. It works fine in 1.3, but now in 1.4 I get the following error: SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column ‘e.category_ids’ in ‘where clause’ Here’s my code: $_productCollection = Mage::getResourceModel('reports/product_collection') ->addAttributeToSelect('*') ->addAttributeToFilter('visibility', $visibility) ->addAttributeToFilter('category_ids',array('finset'=>$featuredcategory)) $_productCollection->load(); The featured category is specified from the admin. Anyone any ideas what might be up?

  I'm trying to add suggestions to product pages along the lines of : "Customers who purchased this item also purchased x and y". The way the data is compiled right now is a mysql table with 3 rows. PRODUCT | CUSTOMER |QUANTITY Product is the product ID. Customer is the customer ID. Quantity is the number of time that product was bought by that customer. For each product description page, the system needs to figure out which users bought that product, what other products those users bought, in what quantity and then return the 2 products that were bought the most by people who bought the current product. Hopefully this makes sense and someone can point me in the right directions as to what the mysql query should look like. Thanks.

This table is simple 3 column table : name, product and price. What I wanna do is: Put all records belonging to one customer together (I've done it) and just after these rows add one new extra row which would just show total price of all the products each customer has purchased. This row would have empty cell in name and product column. And would have total in price column.

I don't want any cart functionality or other such features, I just want to display the products,their specifications and images etc. on the website and give my client an admin panel to manage products. Now I looked into various PHP shopping cart scripts but couldn't find a way to remove price info from the display. I am not experienced enough in web development to make a product catalogue from scratch so if you guys could point me out in right direction I would be very grateful.   Hi, let's assume I have a table of Products with columns: Id, Name, Price and using NHibernate (or ActiveRecord) I map the table to the POCO: public class Product { public virtual long Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual double Price { get; set; } } Now if someday a new column named ShipmentPrice (let's assume it's double too) will be added to the Products table, is there any way I can automatically know that. For saying automatically I mean adding code to do that or getting an exception? (I assume I don't have control on the columns of the table or a way to know of any changes to the table's schema in advance)
