• opencv fails to open avi with ffdshow codec

  Hey everyone, I am currently using OpenCV to try and open an AVI file that was made using ffdshow. The program manages to open the video file and play however, the video file is in black and white and is slightly skewed. VLC and windows media player can run it fine. Is there anything that I am able to do to install the ffdshow codec into OpenCV or do I have to covert each file with ffdshow used into appropriate OpenCV codec formats? • Having the output of a Console App in Visual Studio instead of the Console

  When doing "Console" apps in Java with Eclipse, I see the output being put in a text box on the IDE itself, instead of having a Console popping up like in Visual Studio. This comes in handy, as even after the program has exited, I can still make good use of the text that was written in it, as it doesn't get erased until I run it again. Is it possible to achieve anything like that with Visual Studio? I know that instead of doing System.Console.WriteLine(str); I can do System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(str); but it is not quite the same thing, as you get a lot of "junk" in the Output window, as all the loaded symbols and such. Even better, is it possible to have everything done in the IDE itself, when you run your app, instead of having the Console running? Thanks

• Performance implications of Synchronous Sockets vs Asynchronous Sockets

  We are trying to build an SMTP Server to receive mail notifications from various clients over internet. As each of the communication will be longer and it needs to log everything, doing this Asynchronous way is little challenging as well as by using Socket's Asynchronous methods we are not sure of how flow of control and error handling happens. Previously we wrote lot of server/client apps but we always used Synchronous sockets, reason being they are longer sessions and each session also has lot of local data to manage and parsing messages etc. Does anyone have any experience over real performance differences between these two methods? Async calls use ThreadPool which we have experienced many times to just die for no reason. And we fail to restart threadpool etc. In one way Request-Response protocol of HTTP, Async Sockets makes sense, but SMTP/IMAP etc protocols are longer and they have interleaved messages plus state machine of server. So Async methods are really complicated to program. However if anyone can share the performance of Sockets, it will be helpful.

  I'm trying to use the new OpenCV 2.0 API in MS Visual C++ 2008 and wrote this simple program: cv::Mat img1 = cv::imread("image.jpg",1); cv::namedWindow("My Window", CV_WINDOW_AUTOSIZE); cv::imshow("My Window", img1); Visual Studio returnes an unhandled exception and the Console returns: OpenCV Error: bad flag (parameter or structure field) (Unrecognized or unsupported array type) in unknown function, file ..\..\..\..\ocv\opencv\src\cxcore\cxarray.cpp, line 2376 The image is not displayed. Furthermore the window "My Window" has a strange caption: "ÌÌÌÌMy Window", which is not dependent on the name. The "old" C API using commands like cvLoadImage, cvNamedWindow or cvShowImage works without any problem for the same image file. I tried a lot of different stuff without success.   Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise. Under logs folder, in my machine it is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log, there are three kinds of files, ERRORLOG, ERRORLOG.1, ERRORLOG.2 ... ERRORLOG.6; FDLAUNCHERRORLOG, FDLAUNCHERRORLOG.1, FDLAUNCHERRORLOG.2, ... FDLAUNCHERRORLOG.6; log_207.trc, log_208.trc, ... My question is what are the differnet function of such log files? And why there are files ends with .1, .2, etc? thanks in advance, George

• FileSystemWatcher.WaitForChanged returns, but there is still a lock on the file

  I have a program that send a document to a pdf printer driver and that driver prints to a particular directory. After the print I want to attach the pdf to an e-mail (MailMessage) and send it off. Right now, I send the document to the printer (wich spawns a new process) and then call a FileSystemWatcher.WaitForChanged(WaitForChangedResult.Created) but when the object is created, it's still not done "printing" and the pdf printer still has a lock on it, throwing an error when I try to attach that file to an e-mail. I've considered a plain Thread.Sleep(2000) or whatever, but that's far less than ideal. I considered putting the attachment code in a try/catch block and looping on failure, but again, that's just bad news. I can't really think of an elegant solution.

  Hey, I would like to make an program that acts like a big filter for stocks. To do so, I need to have real-time (or delayed) quotes from the market. I started getting stock quotes by requesting pages from yahoo, accordingand parsing the html to the ticker, and parsing the html. I was wondering how to do this requesting and parsing html. Is there some way I can request only the stock quotes and its info? I know some applications do this, and I am very curious how they do it, because requesting web pages and parsing them is very time-consuming. Thanks, Dave

  I'm trying to grep through a bunch of files in nested subdirectories to look for regular expression matches; my regex requires negative lookbehind. Perl has negative lookbehind, but as far as I can tell GNU grep doesn't support negative lookbehinds. What's the easiest way to get an equivalent to GNU grep that supports negative lookbehinds? (I guess I could write my own mini-grep in Perl, but that doesn't seem like it should be necessary. My copy of the Perl Cookbook includes source for tcgrep; is that what I should use? If so, where's the latest version? Don't tell me I have to type this entire program!)

I'd like to make this happen using wexpect, which is a port of Python's module pexpect to Windows. I'm having trouble installing or importing wexpect though. I've put wexpect in the folder Lib, along with all other modules. I can import those other modules but just not wexpect. • WCF Service Authentication problem?

  I have an application which exposes lots of interfaces via net.tcp protocol, using both SecurityMode.Transport and SecurityMode.None (I really need support for both). My whole application is written in a DLL file. I have a form which consumes this DLL and now I made a Windows Service to consume this DLL. The problem is, when this windows service goes up, the insecure service throws this exception: Stream Security is required at http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing/anonymous, but no security context was negotiated. This is likely caused by the remote endpoint missing a StreamSecurityBindingElement from its binding. In the client side, nothing has changed. Is there any reason for this behaviour? The program is exactly the same. When I run the same test with the form app, it works... ps: I've already tried running the windows service as: SYSTEM, NETWORK SERVICE and my user account (which runs the form app) Thanks

  I am working on xml and xsd files in VS 2010 but intellisense isn't working. Intellisense is working for the same files in VS 2008, however. When I type '<xs:' options like "attribute", "complexType", "simpleType", or "element" do not appear. Is there some difference between the VS 2008 and VS 2010 that I'm missing? I add an xsd file to my solution. All the proper namespaces are generated automatically as such: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="XMLSchema2" targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema2.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema2.xsd" xmlns:mstns="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema2.xsd" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> </xs:schema> The "xsdschema.xsd" is in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\xml\Schemas" directory.
