• How to build Open JavaFX for Android.

  Here's a short recipe for baking JavaFX for Android dalvik. We will need just a few ingredients but each one requires special care. So let's get down to the business.  SourcesThe first ingredient is an open JavaFX repository. This should be piece of cake. As always there's a catch. You probably know that dalvik is jdk6 compatible  and also that certain APIs are missing comparing to good old java vm from Oracle.  Fortunately there is a repository which is a backport of regular OpenJFX to jdk7 and going from jdk7 to jdk6 is possible. The first thing to do is to clone or download the repository from https://bitbucket.org/narya/jfx78. Main page of the project says "It works in some cases" so we will presume that it will work in most cases As I've said dalvik vm misses some APIs which would lead to a build failures. To get them use another compatibility repository which is available on GitHub https://github.com/robovm/robovm-jfx78-compat. Download the zip and unzip sources into jfx78/modules/base.We need also a javafx binary stubs. Use jfxrt.jar from jdk8.The last thing to download are freetype sources from http://freetype.org. These will be necessary for native font rendering. Toolchain setup I have to point out that these instructions were tested only on linux. I suppose they will work with minimal changes also on Mac OS. I also presume that you were able to build open JavaFX. That means all tools like ant, gradle, gcc and jdk8 have been installed and are working all right. In addition to this you will need to download and install jdk7, Android SDK and Android NDK for native code compilation.  Installing all of them will take some time. Don't forget to put them in your path. export ANDROID_SDK=/opt/android-sdk-linux export ANDROID_NDK=/opt/android-ndk-r9b export JAVA_HOME=/opt/jdk1.7.0 export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$ANDROID_SDK/tools:$ANDROID_SDK/platform-tools:$ANDROID_NDK FreetypeUnzip freetype release sources first. We will have to cross compile them for arm. Firstly we will create a standalone toolchain for cross compiling installed in ~/work/ndk-standalone-19. $ANDROID_NDK/build/tools/make-standalone-toolchain.sh  --platform=android-19 --install-dir=~/work/ndk-standalone-19 After the standalone toolchain has been created cross compile freetype with following script: export TOOLCHAIN=~/work/freetype/ndk-standalone-19 export PATH=$TOOLCHAIN/bin:$PATH export FREETYPE=`pwd` ./configure --host=arm-linux-androideabi --prefix=$FREETYPE/install --without-png --without-zlib --enable-shared sed -i 's/\-version\-info \$(version_info)/-avoid-version/' builds/unix/unix-cc.mk make make install It will compile and install freetype library into $FREETYPE/install. We will link to this install dir later on. It would be possible also to link openjfx font support dynamically against skia library available on Android which already contains freetype. It creates smaller result but can have compatibility problems. Patching Download patches javafx-android-compat.patch + android-tools.patch and patch jfx78 repository. I recommend to have look at patches. First one android-compat.patch updates openjfx build script, removes dependency on SharedSecret classes and updates LensLogger to remove dependency on jdk specific PlatformLogger. Second one android-tools.patch creates helper script in android-tools. The script helps to setup javaFX Android projects. Building Now is time to try the build. Run following script: JAVA_HOME=/opt/jdk1.7.0 JDK_HOME=/opt/jdk1.7.0 ANDROID_SDK=/opt/android-sdk-linux ANDROID_NDK=/opt/android-ndk-r9b PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$ANDROID_SDK/tools:$ANDROID_SDK/platform-tools:$ANDROID_NDK:$PATH gradle -PDEBUG -PDALVIK_VM=true -PBINARY_STUB=~/work/binary_stub/linux/rt/lib/ext/jfxrt.jar \ -PFREETYPE_DIR=~/work/freetype/install -PCOMPILE_TARGETS=android If everything went all right the output is in build/android-sdk Create first JavaFX Android project Use gradle script int android-tools. The script sets the project structure for you.   Following command creates Android HelloWorld project which links to a freshly built javafx runtime and to a HelloWorld application. NAME is a name of Android project. DIR where to create our first project. PACKAGE is package name required by Android. It has nothing to do with a packaging of javafx application. JFX_SDK points to our recently built runtime. JFX_APP points to dist directory of javafx application. (where all application jars sit) JFX_MAIN is fully qualified name of a main class. gradle -PDEBUG -PDIR=/home/user/work -PNAME=HelloWorld -PPACKAGE=com.helloworld \ -PJFX_SDK=/home/user/work/jfx78/build/android-sdk -PJFX_APP=/home/user/NetBeansProjects/HelloWorld/dist \ -PJFX_MAIN=com.helloworld.HelloWorld createProject Now cd to the created project and use it like any other android project. ant clean, debug, uninstall, installd will work. • Running Jetty under Windows Azure Using RoleEntryPoint in a Worker Role

  This post is built upon the work of Mario Kosmiskas and David C. Chou’s prior postings – from here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mariok/archive/2011/01/05/deploying-java-applications-in-azure.aspx  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dachou/archive/2010/03/21/run-java-with-jetty-in-windows-azure.aspx As Mario points out in his post, when you need to have more control over the process that starts, it generally is better left to a RoleEntryPoint capability that as of now, requires the use of a CLR based assembly that is deployed as part of the package to Azure. There were things I liked especially about Mario’s post – specifically, the ability to pull down the JRE and Jetty runtimes at role startup and instantiate the process using the extracted bits.  The way Mario initialized the java process (and Jetty) was to take advantage of a role startup task configured as part of the service definition.  This is a great quick way to kick off processes or tasks prior to your role entry point.  However, if you need access to service configuration values or role events, that’s where RoleEntryPoint comes in.  For this PoC sample I moved the logic for retrieving the bits for the jre and jetty to the worker roles OnStart – in addition to moving the process kickoff to the OnStart method.  The Run method at this point is there to loop and just report the status of the java process. Beyond just making things more parameterized, both Mario’s and David’s articles still form the essence of the approach. The solution that accompanies this post provides all the necessary .NET based Visual Studio project.  In addition, you’ll need: 1. Jetty 7 runtime http://www.eclipse.org/jetty/downloads.php 2. JRE http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html Once you have these the first step is to create archives (zips) of the distributions.  For this PoC, the structure of the archive requires that the root of the archive looks as follows: JRE6.zip jetty---.zip Upload the contents to a storage container (block blob), and for this example I used /archives as the location.  The service configuration has several settings that allow, which is the advantage of using RoleEntryPoint, the ability to provide these things via native configuration support from Azure in a worker role. At this point, once the 2 zips are extracted, the Role’s file system looks as follows: Worker Role approot From there, the OnStart method (which also does the download and unzip using a simple StorageHelper class) kicks off the Java path and now you have Java! Task Manager Jetty Sample Page A couple of things I’m working on to enhance this is to extract the jre and jetty bits not to the appRoot but to a resource location defined as part of the service definition. • using Unity Android In a sub view and add actionbar and style

  I exported a simple animation from Unity3D (version 4.5) in android project. With eclipse I modified the manifest and added another activity. In this activity I put a button that it makes start the animation,and this is the result. The action bar appear in the main activity but it doesn't in the unity's activity :( How can I add the action bar and the style of the first activity to unity's animation activity ? • A little primer on using TFS with a small team

  The scenario; A small team of 3 developers mostly in maintenance mode with traditional ASP.net, classic ASP, .Net integration services and utilities with the company’s third party packages, and a bunch of java-based Coldfusion web applications all under Visual Source Safe (VSS). They are about to embark on a huge SharePoint 2010 new construction project and wanted to use subversion instead VSS. TFS was a foreign word and smelled of “high cost” and of an “over complicated process”. Since they had no preconditions about the old TFS versions (‘05 & ‘08), it was fun explaining how simple it was to install a TFS server and get the ball rolling, with or without all the heavy stuff one sometimes associates with such a huge and powerful application management lifecycle product. So, how does a small team begin using TFS? 1. Start by using source control and migrate current VSS source trees into TFS. You can take the latest version or migrate the entire version history. It’s up to you on whether you want a clean start or need quick access to all the version notes and history of the bits. 2. Since most shops are mainly in maintenance mode with existing applications, begin using bug workitems for everything. When you receive an issue/bug from your current tracking system, manually enter the workitem in TFS right through Visual Studio. You can automate the integration to the current tracking system later or replace it entirely. Believe me, this thing is powerful and can handle even the largest of help desks. 3. With new construction, begin work with requirements and task workitems and follow the traditional sprint-based development lifecycle. Obviously, some minor training will be needed, but don’t fear, this is very intuitive and MSDN has a ton of lesson based labs and videos. 4. For the java developers, use the new Team Explorer Everywhere 2010 plugin (recently known as Teamprise). There is a seamless interface in Eclipse, but also a good command-line utility for other environments such as Dreamweaver. 5. Wait to fully integrate the whole workitem/project management/testing process until your team is familiar with the integrated workitems for bugs and code. After a while, you will see the team wanting more transparency into the work they are all doing and naturally, everyone will want workitems to help them organize the chaos! 6. Management will be limited in the value of the reports until you have a fully blown implementation of project planning, construction, build, deployment and testing. However, there are some basic “bug rate” reports and current backlog listings that can provide good information. Some notable explanations of TFS; Work Item Tracking and Project Management - A workitem represents the unit of work within the system which enables tracking of all activities produced by a user, whether it is a developer, business user, project manager or tester. The properties of a workitem such as linked changesets (checked-in code), who updated the data and when, the states and reasons for change, are all transitioned to a data warehouse within TFS for reporting purposes. A workitem can be defines as a "bug", "requirement", test case", or a "change request". They drive the work effort by the individual assigned to it and also provide a key role in defining what needs to be done. Workitems are the things the team needs to do to accomplish a goal. Test Case Management - Starting with a workitem known as a "test case", a tester (or developer) can now author and manage test cases within a formal test plan subsystem. Although TFS supports the test case workitem type, there is a new product known as the VS Test Professional 2010 which allows a tester to facilitate manual tests including fast forwarding steps in the process to arrive at the assertion point quickly. This repeatable process provides quick regression tests and can be conducted by the business user to ensure completeness during UAT. In addition, developers no longer can provide a response to a bug with the line "cannot reproduce". With every test run, attachments including the recorded session, captured environment configurations and settings, screen shots, intellitrace (debugging history), and in some cases if the lab manager is being used, a snapshot of the tested environment is available. Version Control - A modern system allowing shared check-in/check-out, excellent merge conflict resolution, Shelvesets (personal check-ins), branching/merging visualization, public workspaces, gated check-ins, security hierarchy capabilities, and changeset/workitem tracking. Knowing what was done with the code by any developer has become much easier to picture and resolve issues. Team Build - Automate the compilation process whether you need it to be whenever a developer checks-in code, periodically such as nightly builds for testers in the morning, or manual builds to be deployed into production. Each build can run through pre-determined tests, perform code analysis to see if the developer conforms to the team standards, and reject the build if either fails. Project Portal & Reporting - Provide management with a dashboard with insight into the project(s). "Where are we" in each step of the way including past iterations and the current burndown rate. Enabling this feature is easy as it seamlessly interfaces with existing SharePoint implementations.

• Five development tools I can't live without

  When applying to join Geeks with Blogs I had to specify the development tools I use every day. That got me thinking, it's taken a long time to whittle my tools of choice down to the selection I use, so it might be worth sharing. Before I begin, I appreciate we all have our preferred development tools, but these are the ones that work for me. Microsoft Visual Studio Microsoft Visual Studio has been my development tool of choice for more years than I care to remember. I first used this when it was Visual C++ 1.5 (hats off to those who started on 1.0) and by 2.2 it had everything I needed from a C++ IDE. Versions 4 and 5 followed and if I had to guess I would expect more Windows applications are written in VC++ 6 and VB6 than any other language. Then came the not so great versions Visual Studio .Net 2002 (7.0) and 2003 (7.1). If I'm honest I was still using v6. 2005 was better and 2008 was simply brilliant. Everything worked, the compiler was super fast and I was happy again...then came 2010...oh dear. 2010 is a big step backwards for me. It's not encouraging for my upcoming WPF exploits that 2010 is fronted in WPF technology, with the forever growing Find/Replace dialog, the issues with C++ intellisense, and the buggy debugger. That said it is still my tool of choice but I hope they sort the issue in SP1. I've tried other IDEs like Visual Age and Eclipse, but for me Visual Studio is the best. A really great tool. Liquid XML Studio XML development is a tricky business. The W3C standards are often difficult to get to the bottom of so it's great to have a graphical tool to help. I first used Liquid Technologies 5 or 6 years back when I needed to process XML data in C++. Their excellent XML Data Binding tool has an easy to use Wizard UI (as compared to Castor or JAXB command line tools) and allows you to generate code from an XML Schema. So instead of having to deal with untyped nodes like with a DOM parser, instead you get an Object Model providing a custom API in C++, C#, VB etc. More recently they developed a graphical XML IDE with XML Editor, XSLT, XQuery debugger and other XML tools. So now I can develop an XML Schema graphically, click a button to generate a Sample XML document, and click another button to run the Wizard to generate code including a Sample Application that will then load my Sample XML document into the generated object model. This is a very cool toolset. Note: XML Data Binding is nothing to do with WPF Data Binding, but I hope to cover both in more detail another time. .Net Reflector Note: I've just noticed that starting form the end of February 2011 this will no longer be a free tool !! .Net Reflector turns .Net byte code back into C# source code. But how can it work this magic? Well the clue is in the name, it uses reflection to inspect a compiled .Net assembly. The assembly is compiled to byte code, it doesn't get compiled to native machine code until its needed using a just-in-time (JIT) compiler. The byte code still has all of the information needed to see classes, variables. methods and properties, so reflector gathers this information and puts it in a handy tree. I have used .Net Reflector for years in order to understand what the .Net Framework is doing as it sometimes has undocumented, quirky features. This really has been invaluable in certain instances and I cannot praise enough kudos on the original developer Lutz Roeder. Smart Assembly In order to stop nosy geeks looking at our code using a tool like .Net Reflector, we need to obfuscate (mess up) the byte code. Smart Assembly is a tool that does this. Again I have used this for a long time. It is very quick and easy to use. Another excellent tool. Coincidentally, .Net Reflector and Smart Assembly are now both owned by Red Gate. Again kudos goes to the original developer Jean-Sebastien Lange. TortoiseSVN SVN (Apache Subversion) is a Source Control System developed as an open source project. TortoiseSVN is a graphical UI wrapper over SVN that hooks into Windows Explorer to enable files to be Updated, Committed, Merged etc. from the right click menu. This is an essential tool for keeping my hard work safe! Many years ago I used Microsoft Source Safe and I disliked CVS type systems. But TortoiseSVN is simply the best source control tool I have ever used. --- So there you have it, my top 5 development tools that I use (nearly) every day and have helped to make my working life a little easier. I'm sure there are other great tools that I wish I used but have never heard of, but if you have not used any of the above, I would suggest you check them out as they are all very, very cool products. #

For the last 8 years, Leif has worked as a Curriculum Developer for many of the telecom-oriented products that Oracle offers. He has been working in the telecom industry for about 25 years and has also worked as a software developer, project manager, and solutions architect. He is currently working on courseware for an upcoming release for one of the Service Delivery Platform products. Cheryl Lander, Oracle Communications InfoDev Senior Director To be able to download, install and test a product within a day is many times very important for people that are doing the primary evaluation of a software product. If it takes longer, it will require a bigger effort, like a proof-of-concept project with many people involved. Of course, if the product is chosen for a more thorough test, it will probably happen anyway, but then maybe with focus on integration instead of product features. We have a long tradition of creating complex software that is easy to install and test and we have often been praised for the ease of getting our products up and running. One key for this has been that there has always been an installer for Windows, as well as for the production environments that usually are Unix and Linux. And, the windows installer has, in most cases, been released for developing and testing purposes. Lately, this has changed. Our products are very seldom released for the Windows platform, at all. And even the Linux versions are almost always released for 64-bit systems. This is creating problems for many of the people that want to try out our products, since few have access to a 64-bit Linux system of the right platform. Most of us are using a laptop with Windows or Mac OS. Some of us are using Linux or Solaris, but probably a non certified distribution for the product you want to test. My job, among other things, is to develop hands-on practices for our products. For me, it is crucial to have access to environments for installing and using our products. For this reason I have been using virtual machines for many years.I have a ready-made base system, with the necessary tools installed for all the products I create hands-on practices for. Whenever I start working on hands-on practices for a new product or a new version, I just copy the base system and start working with a clean slate. This saves me a lot of time! Now, I would like to start saving time for my favorite student: You! If you are using our products and regularly test new versions you might benefit from the virtual machine that is now available on Oracle Technology Network: The Virtual Machine for the Oracle Communications Service Delivery Platform (SDP) Products. This virtual machine contains an installation of the 64-bit version of Oracle Enterprise Linux, version 6. It also has Oracle Database Express Edition (XE), Oracle Java and Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse installed. By using Oracle VM VirtualBox you may use Windows, OS X, Linux or Solaris on your laptop. VirtualBox can be installed on top of any of these platforms and give you the ability to run virtual machines in your laptop. After downloading and starting the virtual machine you will also need to download the installation files for the product you want to test; for example Oracle Communications Services Gatekeeper or Oracle Communications Online Mediation Controller. In some cases there are lessons and practices available for the products. The freely available courses are listed in Oracle Learning Library as a Collection of Oracle Communications Service Delivery Platform Courses.   I am trying to link directly to the review link of one of my Apps. I know that it is possible because Appirater did it in the past, but some change in iTunes turned the API down. Appirater uses this URL NSString *templateReviewURL = @"itms-apps://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?id=APP_ID&onlyLatestVersion=true&pageNumber=0&sortOrdering=1&type=Purple+Software"; where APP_ID is the ID of an application. running this from inside the APP gives me the message Cannot Connect to iTunes Store. This Page talks about another kind of link https://userpub.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZUserPublishing.woa/wa/addUserReview?id=APP_ID&type=Purple+Software and also itms-apps://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewContentsUserReviews?type=Purple+Software&id=APP_ID The first one works, but just from the desktop mac. The second gives me the same error as the first... Cannot Connect to iTunes Store. iTunes link maker is not helping too, because it has no tools for iPad links... Do you guys know how to link to an app's review form from inside an app? In case you don't know, what kind of package should I use to dig this? a package sniffer? thanks for any help.

• using ILMerge with .NET 4 libraries

  I'm having trouble using ILMerge in my post-build after upgrading from .NET 3.5/Visual Studio 2008 to .NET 4/Visual Studio 2010. I have a Solution with several projects whose target framework is set to ".NET Framework 4". I use the following ILMerge command to merge the individual project DLLs into a single DLL: if not $(ConfigurationName) == Debug if exist "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\ILMerge\ILMerge.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\ILMerge\ILMerge.exe" /lib:"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319" /lib:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies" /keyfile:"$(SolutionDir)$(SolutionName).snk" /targetplatform:v4 /out:"$(SolutionDir)bin\development\$(SolutionName).dll" "$(SolutionDir)Connection\$(OutDir)Connection.dll" ...other project DLLs... /xmldocs If I leave off specifying the location of the .NET 4 framework directory, I get an "Unresolved assembly reference not allowed: System" error from ILMerge. If I leave off specifying the location of the MSTest directory, I get an "Unresolved assembly reference not allowed: Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.UnitTestFramework" error. The ILMerge command above works and produces a DLL. When I reference that DLL in another .NET 4 C# project, however, and try to use code within it, I get the following warning: The primary reference "MyILMergedDLL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the .NET Framework assembly "mscorlib, Version=4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" which has a higher version "4.0.65535.65535" than the version "4.0.0.0" in the current target framework. If I then remove the /targetplatform:v4 flag and try to use MyILMergedDLL.dll, I get the following error: The type 'System.Xml.Serialization.IXmlSerializable' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Xml, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. It doesn't seem like I should have to do that. Whoever uses my MyILMergedDLL.dll API should not have to add references to whatever libraries it references. How can I get around this?

• Brother bPAC SDK - Examples only print after Form is shown

  Hi there We have a small Brother Barcode printer which we like to control from a WCF Service. Brother has an API called bPAC SDK version 3 which allows to print those labels. But the problem arises, as soon as we want to print from code only without showing a windows with a button on it. As an addition, this happens only if you want to print a QR-code as barcode. Standard EAN-codes seems to work. Below is a small piece of code which outputs the stuff to a bitmap instead of the printer (debugging reasons). DocumentClass doc = new DocumentClass(); if (doc.Open(templatePath)) { doc.GetObject("barcode1").Text = txtCompany.Text; doc.GetObject("barcode2").Text = txtName.Text; doc.Export(ExportType.bexBmp, testImagePath, 300); doc.Close(); } If this is called by a button click, it perfectly works. If this is called in Form.Show-event, it perfectly works. If this is called in Form.Load-event, it does NOT work. If this is called in a Form constructor, it does NOT work. If this is called somewhere else (without forms), it does NOT work. DocumentClass and related classes are COM-objects, so I guess the form setup/show process seems to do something which is not done without opening forms. I tried calling CoInitialize with a p/invoke, but it hadn't changed anything. Is there anyone out there willing and able to help me? Are there any alternatives which (also) MUST be able to print directly on our Brother printer? Thanks lot.

  Hi all: I am trying to work out how to use Adam Shaw's brilliant jQuery plugin - FullCalendar to add an event on our project : online balloon ordering page under development Basically, if you click on "step1" and choose "pickup in shop" , the page will bring you to the calendar view, where you could click on the upper-right corner at the "week" button to alter the view to a weekly basis. What I am trying to achieve is when client clicks on an empty slot in a day, she can create her event on that spot. Here is my code in custom.js: dayClick: function() { var n = parseInt(this.className.match(/fc\-slot(\d+)/)[1]); alert('a day has been clicked on slot ' + n); //trying to add an event using the renderEvent() method. $('#' + type + 'Calendar').fullCalendar('renderEvent', { title : 'my pickup slot', start : new Date(y,m,d, 12, 30), end : new Date(y,m,d, 13, 00), }); } It tries to use the FullCalendar's API method renderEvent so to create such an event. However, although my code runs without error and I can see the prompt saying which slot has been clicked, It wouldn't render such an new event on calendar. Is there another way to do this or my code does something wrong? Any suggestion would be much appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.

• How do I get Lucene (.NET) to highlight correctly with wildcards?

When I search using a wildcard, like "fuc*", the highlighter doesn't highlight anything, but when I search for the whole word, like "fuchsia", it highlights fine. • Android multiple email attachment using Intent question

  Hi, I've been working on Android program to send email with attachment (image file , audio file , etc) using Intent with (ACTION_SEND) . THe program is working when email has a single attachment. I used Intent.putExtra( android.content.Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, uri) to attach the designated image file to the mail and it is wokring fine , the mail can be delivered through Gmail . However, when I tried to have multiple images attached to the same mail by calling Intent.putExtra( android.content.Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, uri) multiple times, it failed to work. None of the attachment show up in the email . I searched the SDK documentation and Android programming user group about email attachment but cannot find any related info. However, I've discovered that there's another intent constnat ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE (available since API level 4 ) which might meet my requirement. Based on SDK documentation, it simply states that it deliver multiple data to someone else , it works like ACTION_SEND , excpet the data is multiple. But I still could not figure out the correct usage for this command. I tried to delcare intent with ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE , then call putExtra(EXTRA_STREAM, uri) multiple times to attach multiple images , but I got the same errnoenous result just like before, none of the attachment show up in the email. • How to remove FacesMessages from the FacesContext?

  In my screen, I have a drop down(select box), on selection of any of the options in that drop down , i display one or more text boxes beside the select box using javascript/css - display:none and display:block. All these input controls are in the same jsf form. Each of the input controls have their own validator. The problem is suppose the user selects from selection box and doesn't input value or inputs a wrong value for , i add a custom FacesMessage in the Validator and is shown appropriately and suppose the user selects the the second time and inputs the wrong value for the then another FacesMessage is added in the validator. But Now both the Messages are shown - means - the message for and - which is wrong My assumption is that , this happens because they exist in the same form and their instances are not destroyed yet in the FacesContext and in the UIView. I decided to delete the messages this way Iterator<FacesMessage> msgIterator = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getMessages(); while(msgIterator.hasNext()) { msgIterator.next(); msgIterator.remove(); } But this sometimes gives java.util.NoSuchElementException org.apache.myfaces.shared_impl.renderkit.html.HtmlMessagesRendererBase$MessagesIterator.next So 2 questions : 1) What is the problem in deleting the FacesMessages this way? I am using myfaces-api-1.2.3.jar and myfaces-impl-1.2.3.jar 2) Is there a better approach to handle my scenario? I only want to show relevent messages every time a jsf request is processed Thanks

Because the size of table does not change after its init: Integer[] table = new Intger[0] I can use the zero-witdh table as an empty table.   Hi! I am making a flash app that demonstrates potensial traffic injuries when driving at different speeds. I want the user to be able to share this information on facebook. However this demands that i can customize the text that will appear on facebook in some manner. I am making an url that is opened in a blank window (from the flash app itself). I specify the u and t parameters, putting the generated message as the t parameter. But this seems to always be overridden by the pages title. If i omit the title tag from the html code, the file name is used (also overriding the specified title). http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http://espentokerud.com/face/addiste.html&t=test; I also tried url-encoding the url, but to no avail. http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3a%2f%2fespentokerud.com%2fface%2faddiste.html&t=test; I also tried using the addthis API, but experience the same shortcomings. The funny thing is that if i post a swf, the title and description can be customized, and it is also possible to specify a screenshot. But if i dont post a swf, this seems to be ignored. I am aware that I can use meta tags on the html page to specify the thumbnail image, title and description, but some of this content has to be based on calculations inside the flash app. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction? I am thankful for any help!

• Android -- Can't play any videos (mp4/mov/3gp/etc.)?

  Hello all, I'm having great difficulty getting my Android application to play videos from the SD card. It doesn't matter what size, bitrate, video format, or any other setting I can think of, neither the emulator nor my G1 will play anything I try to encode. I've also tried a number of videos from the web (various video formats, bitrates, with and without audio tracks, etc.), and none of those work either. All I keep getting is a dialog box that says: "Cannot play video" "Sorry, this video cannot be played." There are errors reported in LogCat, but I don't understand them and I've tried searching the Internet for further explanations without any luck. • Forcing UIInterfaceOrientation changes on iPhone

  I'm strugging with getting an iPhone application which requires just about every push or pop in the Nav Controller Stack to change orientation. Basically the first view is portrait, the second landscape the third portrait again (Yes I know this is less than ideal, but that's the design and I've got to implement it). Setting to link against 3.1.2 my reading of the linked articles above seems to indicate that if my portrait view pushes a view with - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Return YES for supported orientations return ((interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) ); } Then then that view should appear rotated to landscape. What happens is it appears in its "broken" portrait form, then rotates correctly as the device is turned. If I pop the controller back to my portrait view (which has an appropriate shouldAutoRotate...) then that remains in broken landscape view until the device is returned to portrait orientation. I've also tried removing all the shouldautorotate messages, and instead forcing rotation by transforming the view. This kind of works, and I've figured out that by moving the status bar (which is actually hidden in my application) [UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarOrientation = UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight; the keyboard will appear with the correct orientation when desired. The problem with this approach is that the status bar transform is weird and ugly when you don't have a status bar - a shadow looms over the page with each change. So. What am I missing. 1) Am I wrong in thinking that in 3.1.2 (or possibly earlier) shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation should provide the desired orientation simply by pushing controllers ? 2) Is there another way of getting keyboards to appear in the correct orientation. 3) Are the undocumented API calls the way to go (please no!)
