  Given an N X N binary matrix (containing only 0's or 1's). How can we go about finding largest rectangle containing all 0's? Example: I 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 II->0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 <--IV 0 0 1 0 0 0 IV is a 6 X 6 binary matrix, return value in this case will be Cell 1: (2, 1) and Cell 2: (4, 4). Resulting sub-matrix can be square or rectangle. Return value can be size of the largest sub-matrix of all 0's also, for example, here 3 X 4.

• Hide ticks at Min and Max in WPF Slider

  Hi, I want to display a Slider ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 with only one tick mark at 1.0 to mark the center and default value. I have defined a Slider as follows: <Slider Minimum="0.5" Maximum="1.5" IsMoveToPointEnabled="True" IsSnapToTickEnabled="False" Orientation="Horizontal" Ticks="1.0" TickPlacement="BottomRight" Value="{Binding SomeProperty, Mode=TwoWay}"/> However, besides a tick mark at 0.0 this Slider also shows tick marks at 0.5 and 1.5, i.e. the Minimum and Maximum values. Is there a way to hide these min/max tick marks?! I checked all properties and tried changing some of them, but did not have success so far. Thanks, gehho.

• Viewstate is setting control values incorrectly.

  I have a page with several checkboxes on it. The checkboxes correlate to user permissions so when I change users and the page refreshes, the values of the checkboxes should change since each user is different. In spite of the fact that my code sets the value of the checkbox, viewstate or whatever changes the values to what the previous user's values were. I tried chk.EnableViewState = false; but that did not help. I set EnableViewState="false" EnableViewStateMac="false" EnableEventValidation="false" in the page directives, but that doesn't help. The only way I have been able to fix this is to add a unique value to the controls so that their names are always different. I am sure it's an issue of ignorance. Thank you for your help. There is no databinding per se. When the page loads I am creating the textboxes and setting their values via code.

• Edit TabControl template in Silverlight project

  I'm trying to modify the template for the TabControl in my silverlight application. I used Expression Blend to get the Template and copied it into my project. I did this before for Expander and got it to work with a few minor adjustments. The template for TabControl references the ns/assembly "clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls.Primitives;assembly=System.Windows.Controls" and uses the TabPanel control from it. I can't seem to make a reference to this. • MVC2 DataAnnotations validation with inheritance

  Hi, I have a .NET 2.0 class the properties of which are marked virtual.I need to use the class as a model in a MVC2 application. So, I have created a .NET 3.5 class inheriting from the .NET 2.0 class and added the DataAnnotations attributes to the overriden properties in the new class. A snippet of what I have done is below // .NET 2.0 class public class Customer { private string _firstName = ""; public virtual string FirstName { get { return _firstName; } set { _firstName = value; } } } // .NET 3.5 class public class MVCCustomer : Customer { [Required(ErrorMessage="Firstname is required")] public override string FirstName { get { return base.FirstName; } set { base.FirstName = value; } } } I have used the class as the model for a MVC2 view using the HtmlFor helpers. Serverside validation works correctly but the client side validation does not. Specifically the validation error is not displayed on the page. What am I missing, or is it only possible to do this using buddy classes. Thanks.

  From the MSDN articles I've found -- http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394515(v=VS.85).aspx -- Win32_Volume and Win32_MountPoint aren't available on Windows XP. However, I'm developing a C# app on Windows XP (64bit), and I can get to those WMI classes just fine. Users of my app will be on Windows XP sp2 with .Net 3.5 sp1. Googling around, I can't determine whether I can count on this or not. Am I successful on my system because of one or more of the following: - windows xp service pack 2? - visual studio 2008 sp1 was installed? - .Net 3.5 sp1? Should I use something other than WMI to get at the volume/mountpoint info?   I am trying to understand the best way of implementing a DropDownList in ASP.NET MVC 2 using the DropDownListFor helper. This is a multi-part question. First, what is the best way to pass the list data to the view? Pass the list in your model with a SelectList property that contains the data Pass the list in via ViewData How do I get a blank value in the DropDownList? Should I build it into the SelectList when I am creating it or is there some other means to tell the helper to auto create an empty value? Lastly, if for some reason there is a server side error and I need to redisplay the screen with the DropDownList, do I need to fetch the list values again to pass into the view model? This data is not maintained between posts (at least not when I pass it via my view model) so I was going to just fetch it again (it's cached). Am I going about this correctly?

Can one make the assumption that the loop variable is equal to its last value inside the loop, after a Delphi if loop? Update After trying a few simple loops, I suspect that i is actually equal to one plus the last value of i inside the loop after the loop... But can you rely on this?

• Choosing between Berkeley DB Core and Berkeley DB JE

  I'm designing a Java based web-app and I need a key-value store. Berkeley DB seems fitting enough for me, but there appears to be TWO Berkeley DBs to choose from: Berkeley DB Core which is implemented in C, and Berkeley DB Java Edition which is implemented in pure Java. The question is, how to choose which one to use? With web-apps scalability and performance is quite important (who knows, maybe my idea will become the next Youtube), and I couldn't find easily any meaningful benchmarks between the two. I have yet to familiarize with Cores Java API, but I find it hard to believe that it could be much worse than Java Editions, which seems to be quite nice. If some other key-value store would be much better, feel free to recommend that too. I'm storing smallish binary blobs, and keys probably will be hashes of the data, or some other unique id.

• Cisco SR520w FE - WAN Port Stops Working

  I have setup a Cisco SR520W and everything appears to be working. After about 1-2 days, it looks like the WAN port stops forwarding traffic to the Internet gateway IP of the device. If I unplug and then plug in the network cable connecting the WAN port of the SR520W to my Comcast Cable Modem, traffic startings flowing again. Also, if I restart the SR520W, the traffic will flow again. Any ideas? • ASP.NET MVC Get a list of users with particular profile properties

  Hi, I'm using ASP.NET MVC 1 and I have added a custom Profile class using the WebProfile Builder VS add-in (found here: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/WebProfileBuilder/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=980). On one of my forms I want a drop-down list of all users who share a specific profile value in common. I can see that I can get a list of all users using: Membership.GetAllUsers() However I cannot see how to get all users who have a specific profile value, which in my case is CellId. Am I approaching this in the right way? I have used membership roles to define which users are administrators etc, but profiles seems like the right place to group users. Any pointers both in specifics of how to access the user list but also comments on whether am I pursuing the right avenue here would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Sam

  I have a Project model and it has some text attributes, one is summary. I have some projects that have html tags in the summary and I want to convert that to plain text. I have this method that has a regex that will remove all html tags. def strip_html_comments_on_data self.attributes.each{|key,value| value.to_s.gsub!(/(<[^>]+>|&nbsp;|\r|\n)/,"")} end I also have a before_save filter before_save :strip_html_comments_on_data The problem is that the html tags are still there after saving the project. • Monitoring disk performance with MRTG

  I use MRTG to monitor vital stats on my servers like disk space, CPU load, memory usage, temperatures etc. It all works fine and well for parameters that don't change rapidly. By running small VB script I can also get any Performance Counter. However these scripts are called by MRTG every 5 minutes while performance counters like physical disk idle time return a snapshot value from previous few seconds so a lot or data is missed. Surely I could write a service that would poll all required counters in background and store average values somewhere on disk where MRTG would pick them up. However before I do so I would like to find out if there is some ready solution that would allow me to get average value of some counter for the last 5 minutes as opposed to immediate snapshot.

The form is built at runtime in the formclass's init method. I'd like each question rendered on the form as an inline: prompt, value(input-text), units (select). this seems a case perfect for iterable form fieldsets, which could be easily styled. but since fieldsets - such as those in django-form-utils are defined as tuples, they are immutable... and I can't find a way to define them at runtime. is this possible, or perhaps another solution?
