    I'm implementing paging on an ASP.NET MVC view, and I want to call a method in the controller from the view. Code in the view: <a href="<%= Url.Action("Search", new { page = NextPage(Request["exactPage"])).ToString()}) %>"> Controller method: public string NextPage(string currentPage) { return (int.Parse(currentPage) + 1).ToString(); } How can I call the NextPage method from the view? thanks!

  • Understanding the singleton class when aliasing a instance method

    I am using Ruby 1.9.2 and the Ruby on Rails v3.2.2 gem. I am trying to learn Metaprogramming "the right way" and at this time I am aliasing an instance method in the included do ... end block provided by the RoR ActiveSupport::Concern module: module MyModule extend ActiveSupport::Concern included do # Builds the instance method name. my_method_name = build_method_name.to_sym # => :my_method # Defines the :my_method instance method in the including class of MyModule. define_singleton_method(my_method_name) do |*args| # ... end # Aliases the :my_method instance method in the including class of MyModule. singleton_class = class << self; self end singleton_class.send(:alias_method, :my_new_method, my_method_name) end end "Newbiely" speaking, with a search on the Web I came up with the singleton_class = class << self; self end statement and I used that (instead of the class << self ... end block) in order to scope the my_method_name variable, making the aliasing generated dynamically. I would like to understand exactly why and how the singleton_class works in the above code and if there is a better way (maybe, a more maintainable and performant one) to implement the same (aliasing, defining the singleton method and so on), but "the right way" since I think it isn't so.

  • Map a struts2 action result to a controller instead of a jsp

    Hello, I'm working on on a site built using struts2. The vast majority of our targets generate xml, so mapping the result to a jsp page makes sense. A couple of our targets actually generated binaries. I'm wondering if there is a convenient way to say that the result should come from a servlet/controller instead of a jsp. Obviously this could be done by modifying the web.xml so the struts filter doesn't apply to those targets and mapping those targets as servlets, but this is non-ideal. Currently, the struts filter applies to the entire site, and we would like to keep it that way. Ideas? Thanks!

    I want to show a div if the value of an input =='CP'. Right now this is my code: $(".register-type").change(function(){ var value = $(this).val(); if(value == 'CP'){ $('.cp-show').show(); This works fine if they change the input, but if things get validated false and the page reloads, this input is still 'CP', but the div doesn't show... Is there a way to correct this so that jquery checks if this is set on the page load?

  • PHP extend a class method that is called from another class which extends it and calls the method wi

    I am trying to extend a class and override one of its methods. lets call that class A. My class, class B, is overiding a protected method. Class C extends class A and Class D extends class C. Inside of Class D, the method I am trying to overwrite is also extended here and that calls parent::mymethodimoverriding. That method does not exist in class C so it goes to it in class A. That is the method I am overiding in class B and obviously you can't extend A with B and have those changes show up in D since it does not fall in line with the class hierarchy. I might be wrong, so correct me please. so if my class b is called and ran then class D gets called it runs the method in A and overwrites what I had set. I am thinking there must be a way to get this to work, I am just missing something. here is an example, as you can see in class A there is a call to setTitle and it is set to "Example" In my class I set it to "NewExample". My class is getting called before class D so when class D is called it goes back to the parent and sets the title back to "Example" class A{ protected function _thefunction(){ setTitle("Example"); } } class B extends A{ protected function _thefunction(){ My new code here setTitle("NewExample"); } } class C extends A{ nothing that matters in here for what I am doing } class D extends C{ protected function _thefunction(){ parent::_thefunction(); additional code here } }

I got it to work in other browsers, but the iPhone is the only one that will need to hold down the button. Is there a way to repeat a function when holding down the button? Thanks.

  • Performing an action on Parent/Child elements independently.

    I have HTML similar to the following in my page <div id="someDiv"> <img src="foo.gif" class="someImg" /> </div> The wrapper div is set up such that when it is clicked, it's background-color changes using the following jQuery code. $("div").click(function(event){ $(this).css("background-color", "blue"); }); I also have some jQuery associated with my img that will do some other function (for the sake of argument I am going to display and alert box) like so: $("img[class=someImg]").click(function(event){ alert("Image clicked"); }); The issue I have come across is that when I click on the img, the event associated with the div is also triggered. I'm pretty sure that this is due to the way that jQuery (or indeed JavaScript) is handling the two DOM elements - clicking the img would require you to also technically click the div, thus triggering both events. Two questions then really: Is my understanding of the DOM/JavaScript flawed in some way or is this actually how things are occurring? Are there any jQuery methods that would allow me to perform actions on a child element without invoking those associated with its parent?

I have been unable to make an example in which the -x has any effect at all. Please provide two examples in which the only difference is an added -x and that produce different output.

  • Calling a JAVA method from C++ with JNI, no parameters

    Please bear with me, I am an iPhone developer and this whole android this confuses me a bit. I have some c++ methods that are called from a cocos2d-x CCMenuItem. Therefore I cannot send any parameters, according to the docs. I need to open a url with the android browser which will require me to call a JAVA function to start a new intent. I understand that I need to create a VM, however the below code gives me the error: jni/../../Classes/MyClass.cpp:184: error: 'JNI_CreateJavaVM' was not declared in this scope I was looking at this thread: Calling a java method from c++ in Android But he uses parameters, and I can't do that. And I don't see where those are in his code to just make them myself. I don't know what the string should be in the 'Find Class' method. Also, I assume it is pretty terrible to create a new VM instance in every method I need to call. How would I create one as a singleton to use across the board? This is my c++ code called by my menu item: #include <jni.h> ...     I am having this particular requirement where a method has to be identified by different regular expressions for different components. For example, there need to be a regex for return parameter, one for method name, one for argument type and one for argument name. I was able to come up with an expression till this step as follows - ([^,]+) ([^,]+)\((([^,]+) ([^,]+))\) It works well for a method signature like - ReturnType foo(Arg parameter) The regular expression identifies ReturnType, foo, Arg and parameter separately. Now the problem is that a method can have no/one/multiple arguments separated by commas. I am not able to get a repeating expression for this. Help will be appreciated.

I'm trying to develop a thread abstraction (POSIX thread and thread from the Windows API), and I would very much like it to be able to start them with a method pointer, and not a function pointer. What I would like to do is an abstraction of thread being a class with a pure virtual method "runThread", which would be implanted in the future threaded class. I don't know yet about the Windows thread, but to start a POSIX thread, you need a function pointer, and not a method pointer. And I can't manage to find a way to associate a method with an instance so it could work as a function. I probably just can't find the keywords (and I've been searching a lot), I think it's pretty much what Boost::Bind() does, so it must exist. Can you help me ?

    So to allow any type object I must use generics in my code. I have rewrote this method to do so, but then when I create an object, for example Milk, it won't let me pass it to my method.
