  • Creating a blocking Queue<T> in .NET?

    I have a scenario where I have multiple threads adding to a queue and multiple threads reading from the same queue. If the queue reaches a specific size all threads that are filling the queue will be blocked on add until an item is removed from the queue. The solution below is what I am using right now and my question is: How can this be improved?   • Undetermined type conversion in VB.NET 2008

    I figured this would be a quick google, but extensive searching hasnt yielded any results. Everything about type conversion seems to dance around this concept. I want to get the type of variable "a", and make a new variable named "b" of that type. Otherwise I could have "a" as a type already declared and "b" simply as an Object, then try to cast "b" to the type of "a". Dim a As Integer Dim b As Whatever a Is OR TryCast(b, Whatever a Is) I would also like to make the conversion using a variable representation of the type, but cant find info on how to do that either. Sorta like: Dim a As Integer Dim b As Object Dim t As Type t = a.GetType() TryCast(b, t) Realizing I'm completely misusing TryCast here, I'm mostly trying to get my goal across. I figured it would be an easy quick thing to do but I cant really find any specific info on it. Any ideas?

    Hi All, I'm using CC 1.5.6804.1 and i created and custom xslt file generate a custome report. I added the file to the xsl directory. I have also updated the dashboard.config file with the following: [my additions] I see no link on the web dashboard after saving and restarting the server. Has anyone seen this and/or have any ideals?? Thanks.

    As the title suggests, I'm tyring to pass a variable data type to a template class. Something like this: frmExample = New LookupForm(Of Models.MyClass) 'Works fine Dim SelectedType As Type = InstanceOfMyClass.GetType() 'Works fine frmExample = New LookupForm(Of SelectedType) 'Ba-bow! frmExample = New LookupForm(Of InstanceOfMyClass.GetType()) 'Ba-bow! LookupForm<Models.MyClass> frmExample; Type SelectedType = InstanceOfMyClass.GetType(); frmExample = new LookupForm<SelectedType.GetType()>(); //Ba-bow frmExample = new LookupForm<(Type)SelectedType>(); //Ba-bow I'm assuming it's something to do with the template being processed at compile time but even if I'm off the mark there, it wouldn't solve my problem anyway. I can't find any relevant information on using Reflection to instance template classes either. (How) can I create an instance of a dynamically typed repository at runtime?

    I'm in the process of trying to get the jQuery plugin, Uploadify, to work with ASP.NET MVC. I've got the plugin showing up fine: With the following javascript snippet: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#fileUpload').fileUpload({ 'uploader': '/Content/Flash/uploader.swf', 'script': '/Placement/Upload', 'folder': '/uploads', 'multi': 'true', 'buttonText': 'Browse', 'displayData': 'speed', 'simUploadLimit': 2, 'cancelImg': '/Content/Images/cancel.png' }); }); </script> Which seems like all is well in good. If you notice, the "script" attribute is set to my /Placement/Upload, which is my Placement Controller and my Upload Action. The main problem is, I'm having difficulty getting this action to fire to receive the file. I've set a breakpoint on that action and when I select a file to upload, it isn't getting executed. I've tried changing the method signature based off this article: public string Upload(HttpPostedFileBase FileData) { /* * * Do something with the FileData * */ return "Upload OK!"; } But this still doesn't fire. Can anyone help me write and get the Upload controller action's signature correctly so it will actually fire? I can then handle dealing with the file data myself. I just need some help getting the method action to fire.

    Trying to develop a text editor, I've got two textboxes, and a button below each one. When the button below textbox1 is pressed, it is supposed to convert the Unicode text (intended to be Japanese) to Shift-JIS. The reason why I am doing this is because the software VOCALOID2 only allows ANSI and Shift-JIS encoding text to be pasted into the lyrics system. Users of the application normally have their keyboard set to change to Japanese already, but it types in Unicode. How can I convert Unicode text to Shift-JIS when SJIS isn't available in the System.Text.Encoding types?

  • Mimic Windows' 'Run' window in .NET

In other words, I would like to give the user the ability to "run" an arbitrary piece of text exactly as would happen if they typed it into the run box. While System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() gets me close, I can't seem to get certain things like environment variables such as %AppData% working.     Hi guys, I like to know how to get the ClientID/UniqueID of a control inside a Detailsview controls EditItemTemplate element and when DetailsViews changing to Edit mode and DetailsView is inside a AJAX UpdatePanel. Without UpdatePanel, during PostBack I can get the ClientID's control, but now with an UpdatePanel. <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:DetailsView ID="DetailsView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" AllowPaging="true" AutoGenerateEditButton="true"> <Fields> <asp:TemplateField> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:CheckBox runat="server" ID="chkboxTest" Text="CHECKBOX" /> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Fields> </asp:DetailsView> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> As you see, the EditItemTemplate contains a Checkbox control. So i'm trying to get the ClientID of this checkbox when Detailsview is changing to the Edit mode. I need this value for handling Javascript.
