  My program downloads a websites source code, modifies it, creates the file, and then reuploads it through the FTP. I have copied this into a different test program and it works fine, I create a misc.html file and reopen it with both FileInputStream and manually. I would be worried about Administrator rights but the Test program works fine when I run it RIGHT after the problem program. I also have checked if the file exists and is a file with File methods and it is as well. Is this a result of me not closing a previous Input/Output properly? I've tried to check everything and I am fairly positive I close all streams as soon as they finish... Help! :)

• Why doesn't my form post when I disable the submit button to prevent double clicking?

  Like every other web developer on the planet, I have an issue with users double clicking the submit button on my forms. My understanding is that the conventional way to handle this issue, is to disable the button immediately after the first click, however when I do this, it doesn't post. I did do some research on this, god knows there's enough information, but other questions like Disable button on form submission, disabling the button appears to work. The original poster of Disable button after submit appears to have had the same problem as me, but there is no mention on how/if he resolved it. I tried specifying margin:0;padding:0 with CSS to no avail.   I want to have a link in the popup.html file for my extension that loads another file (which will be included with the extension) how can I do this? or will I need to keep it in the same page? I tried using this code: <a href="/mail.html"> <img id="newmail_icon" src="" width="16" height="16" /> <span id="newmail">loading</span><br /> </a> But when I click the link nothing happens. I just found out that adding target="_blank" to the link will make it work and open in a new tab, but I can't get it to open in the popup. I have tried target="_self" but it didn't do anything.

• (php) how to properly 'save' info in forms completed thus far

  So i have a form that on paper is 40 pages long. I was going to take the natural sections of this form, and make separate html forms for each section, with the idea that on the first page there would be a first form, then you hit 'Continue to next section' which essentially is the 'submit' button, which moves the user to section two, etc, until they hit the last section. i am not actually storing the results of the form in a database, but rather sending an email. the idea then is to store the separate form answers (one html form per section in the real form) as arrays or objects in the session, so that if they go back to a section in the form, it repopulates the values they entered since they are stored in the session. the result would be an array in the session storing the results for each of my forms, and i have one form for each section. my question is: is it secure to temporarily store things like SSNs or driver's license numbers as session variables? why or why not?

I've created a class that derives from Stream and implemented the Write method: public override void Write(byte[] buffer, int offset, int count) I read all bytes from buffer and store them in a private StringBuilder, then I replace the text, and write the string back to the Stream. But how can I determine when the stream is at the end of the stream. I.e. how do I determine when to write back the html (string) to the stream?

• Git remove directory

  I've got a repository on GitHub (http://github.com/hrickards/PHP-Crypto) for a little project me and a couple of others are working on. My development environment is Aptana Studio, and I use the EGit plugin as Aptana is basically Eclipse underneath. Today the designer sent the HTML and CSS for the website with the images in a folder named img. Previously the images were in a folder called images. Thinking nothing of it and being too lazy to update the CSS and HTML, I simply kept the images in the img directory and commited to Git. However, the GitHub web interface shows both the img and images directories, with the images directory being empty. I've tried deleting the images directory with git rm -r images and git rm images, and even mkdir images; git add images; git rm -r images but whatever I try I get the same result: fatal: pathspec 'images' did not match any files. Has anyone got any advice on how to remove images, or am I misunderstanding Git or something?

  Hi i'm using phonegap in conjunction with Jquery mobile. I'm trying to immediately fetch the main page, while showing the user a splashscreen. In PhoneGap for Android i'm using this super.setIntegerProperty("splashscreen", R.drawable.splash); super.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/index.html", 2000); While this loads the splash, it also delays the loading of index.html. It it possible to start fetching it right away? Also, if not with phonegap, has anybody done this using JQM instead of phonegap? UPDATE: After using it with a slower loading first page (doing a json request) it kinda looks like the splash screens shows for a longer period of time, so this appears to be the default behavior

• How to prevent direct access to my JSON service?

  I have a JSON web service to return home markers to be displayed on my Google Map. Essentially, http://example.com calls the web service to find out the location of all map markers to display like so: http://example.com/json/?zipcode=12345 And it returns a JSON string such as: {"address": "321 Main St, Mountain View, CA, USA", ...} So on my index.html page, I take that JSON string and place the map markers. However, what I don't want to have happen is people calling out to my JSON web service directly. I only want http://example.com/index.html to be able to call my http://example.com/json/ web service ... and not some random dude calling the /json/ directly. Quesiton: how do I prevent direct calling/access to my http://example.com/json/ web service?

  Hi. I am creating a portfolio page for m personal site. I have a slider with approx 20 anchors that link to projects I have worked on, each one contains a client logo that when clicked should load some html content then fade that content into a container div on the same page. I have been advised to use the JQuery method load() which seems straight forward. The question I have is do I have to repeat the following code for each of the 20 anchors as the url is different for each one or is there a more efficient way? $('a#project1').click(function() { $('#work').load('ajax/project1.html'); } Also would I have to use the unload() method first to ensure the div I am loading into is empty?   Hi, I was expecting an compilation error in the following program because of the throw statement in the catch block as IOException is a checked exception and it is not caught by another try block within the catch block. But I am getting "Hurray!" printed. Any explanation would be much appreciated. • XSL: Dead or not dead

  I'm currently taking on a new project at home. In this project I'm going to be generating HTML emails. For this purpose, I believe XSL to be a good candidate. However, I have heard people say that XSL is a dead language, and if it's not that it is on it's way out. In fact, MS has been very leary to support XSL 2.0. Personally I feel that any time you are going from text to text, it is a great tool. Such as: Generating HTML e-mails Creating Open Office Docs Generating another XML doc What are your thoughts? Is it dead, or is it still a viable, usefull tool?

  The ContainsText method finds the text only in specific area in the html but fails to find id in other parts of the page.   There are lots of questions about how to force the browser to cache or not to cache any image. But, I am facing slightly different situation. In several places of my web page, I am using following code for the images. <img title="<%= Html.Encode(Model.title)%>" src="<%= Url.Action(MVC.FrontEnd.Actions.RetrieveImage(Model.SystemId))%>"/> So, in the generated HTML it is like <img title="blahblah" src="http://xyz.com/FrontEnd/Actions/RetrieveImage?imageId=X"> Where X is some integer. I have seen that though the browser (IE or Mozilla) caches images by default, it is not caching images generated by above method. Is there any way I can tell browser to cache images of above type? • Perl: Edit hyperlinks in nested tags that aren't on separate lines

I wrote the following perl script to recursively loop through a directory and in all html files for img/script/a tags do the following: Convert the entire url to lowercase Replace spaces and %20 with underscores The script works great except when an image tag in wrapped with an anchor tag. Is there a way to modify the current script to also be able to manipulate the links for nested tags that are not on separate lines?
