  • Export to Excel from ASP.NET produces files unreadable with Excel Viewer

    - by MainMa
Hi, I want to output some dynamic data from an ASP.NET website to Excel. I found that the easiest way which does not require to use Excel XML or to install Excel on server machine is to output data as a table and specify application/vnd.ms-excel type. The problem is when I do so and try to open the file in Excel Viewer, I receive the following error message: Microsoft Excel Viewer cannot open files of this type. Then nothing is opened. Even an easiest code such as: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Clear(); Response.Buffer = true; HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=Example.xls"); Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; StringWriter stringWriter = new System.IO.StringWriter(); HtmlTextWriter htmlTextWriter = new System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter(stringWriter); dataGrid.RenderControl(htmlTextWriter); Response.Write("<html><body><table><tr><td>A</td><td>B</td></tr><tr><td>C</td><td>D</td></tr></table></body></html>"); Response.End(); } produces the same error. What can cause such behavior? Is it because the Viewer cannot read such files, but full Excel version can?

  • Finding most efficient transmission size in varying network latency scenarios

    - by rwmnau
I'm building a .NET remoting client/server that will be transmitting thousands of files, of varying sizes (everything from a few bytes to hundreds of MB), and I'm curious about a general method for finding the appropriate transmission size. As I see it, there's the following tradeoff: Serialize entire file into a transmission object and transmit at once, regardless of size. This would be the fastest, but a failure during tranmission requires that the whole file be re-transmitted. If the file size is larger than something small (like 4KB), break it into 4KB chunks and transmit those, re-assembling on the server. In addition to the complexity of this, it's slower because of continued round-trips and acknowledgements, though a failure of any one piece doesn't waste much time. The ideal transmission method (when taking into account negotiation latency vs. failure rate) is somewhere in between, and I'm wondering about how to find out the best size for that particular client. Do I have some dynamic tuning step in my transmission that looks at the current bytes/second average, and then raises the transmission size until the speed starts to drop (failures overwhelm negotiation cost)? Or is there some other method for determining ideal transmission size? The application will be multi-threaded, so number of threads also factors in to the calculation. I'm not looking for a formula (though I'll take one if you've got it), but just what to consider as I create this process.

  • css: Cross-browser, reflowing, top-to-bottom, multi-column lists

    - by Sai Emrys
See http://cssfingerprint.com/about#stats. See also http://stackoverflow.com/questions/933645/multi-column-css-lists. I want a multi-column list that: uses no JS reflows on window size makes as many columns as fit the enclosing element therefore, does not require batching the list into manual column groups works in all browsers works for an arbitrary number of unknown-width (but single-line-height) elements makes each column fit the width of its (dynamic) contents does not create scrollbars or other overflow issues is sorted top to bottom where possible My code is currently: ul.multi, ol.multi { width: 100%; margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style: none; -moz-column-width: 12em; -webkit-column-width: 12em; column-width: 12em; -moz-column-gap: 1em; -webkit-column-gap: 1em; column-gap: 1em; } ul.multi li, ol.multi li { <!--[if IE]> float: left; <![endif]--> width: 20em; margin: 0; padding: 0; } Although this works okay, it has some problems: I have to guess the content width it is right-to-left in IE (though this is acceptable as a graceful degradation mode) it won't work at all in non-IE, non-Moz/Webkit/CSS3 browsers How can this be improved?

  • Is there a perfect algorithm for chess?

    - by Overflown
Dear Stack Overflow community, I was recently in a discussion with a non-coder person on the possibilities of chess computers. I'm not well versed in theory, but think I know enough. I argued that there could not exist a deterministic Turing machine that always won or stalemated at chess. I think that, even if you search the entire space of all combinations of player1/2 moves, the single move that the computer decides upon at each step is based on a heuristic. Being based on a heuristic, it does not necessarily beat ALL of the moves that the opponent could do. My friend thought, to the contrary, that a computer would always win or tie if it never made a "mistake" move (however do you define that?). However, being a programmer who has taken CS, I know that even your good choices - given a wise opponent - can force you to make "mistake" moves in the end. Even if you know everything, your next move is greedy in matching a heuristic. Most chess computers try to match a possible end game to the game in progress, which is essentially a dynamic programming traceback. Again, the endgame in question is avoidable though. -- thanks, Allan Edit: Hmm... looks like I ruffled some feathers here. That's good. Thinking about it again, it seems like there is no theoretical problem with solving a finite game like chess. I would argue that chess is a bit more complicated than checkers in that a win is not necessarily by numerical exhaustion of pieces, but by a mate. My original assertion is probably wrong, but then again I think I've pointed out something that is not yet satisfactorily proven (formally). I guess my thought experiment was that whenever a branch in the tree is taken, then the algorithm (or memorized paths) must find a path to a mate (without getting mated) for any possible branch on the opponent moves. After the discussion, I will buy that given more memory than we can possibly dream of, all these paths could be found.

Then, I remove below code ... var AllCategory={"1":"Computing","2":"Cooking","10":"Fiction","3":"Finance","6":"Language","4":"Medical","11":"News","8":"Philosophy","9":"Religion","7":"Sport","5":"Travel"}; Replace with below code so that i can get dynamic data ... var AllCategory = (function () { var list = null; $.ajax({ async: false, global: false, type: "POST", url: 'Category_Lookup', dataType: 'json', data: {}, success: function (response, textStatus, jqXHR) { list = response; }, error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert("jqXHR.responseText --> " + jqXHR.responseText + "\njqXHR --> " + jqXHR + "\ntextStatus --> " + textStatus + " \nerrorThrown --> " + errorThrown); } }); alert(list); return list; })(); Firstly, I get below message box ... Then I get Error Could anyone please tell me how to make it correct ? Every suggestion will be appreciated.

  • Focussing on Style Sheets and Cross Browser Compatibility.

    - by Sam
Hello everyone, Let me begin this topic by explaining my background experience with web design. I have always been more of a back end programmer, with PHP and SQL and things. However I do have a shallow background with HTML and CSS. The problem is, I don't know it all. What I do know is, when it comes to designing (not back end dirty work) I understand basic CSS properties and I also understand HTML and I can usually throw together a sloppy web page with the two and a couple bazillion DIV tags. Anyways.. The problem I always have encountered is that when I design a website in a browser such as IE7 (and then it looks perfect on IE7), and then look at it on IE8 or IE6 or Mozilla (etc.) it gets all spacey and ugly and looks totally different than the way it should look on IE7. Question one: Basically, what I am asking everyone is what route should I take to learn how to properly build the website? Build as in put it togehter with CSS standards and HTML standards that will make my site look the same on every brwoser. (Not only learning standards but where can I learn to properly write my code?) Where is a strong free resource I can use to learn how to these things? Question two: How do I properly code my website? Do I use all external style sheets to make dynamic page design simplistic or do I hard code some things into the DIV tags on each page? What is proper? Oh, and if anyone has any tutorials on how to properly design a complete layout feel free to throw it in a response somewhere. Thank you for taking the time to read my questions, and hopefully you will understand what I am trying to get out to everyone. I need to get on the right route of the designing side of web programming so that I will know how to create successful websites in the future. Thank you, Sam Pardee

  • Force float left with no line break no matter what

    - by Tesserex
I'm guessing this isn't possible, but here goes. I have two tables, and I'm trying to get them to sit side-by-side so that they look like one table. The reason for this, instead of using one larger table, is that the data in the second table needs to be handled on a column basis, not row basis, for performance reasons like caching and AJAX-fetching data. So rather than have to reload the whole table for a single column, I decided to break the column out into a separate table, but have it visually seem like a single table. I can't find a way to forcibly put the second table next to the first. I can float them, but when the first table is too wide, the second one breaks to the next line. Here's the kicker: the width of the first table is dynamic. So I can't just set a huge width to their container. Well, I could set a huge width, like 1000%, but then I have a huge ugly horizontal scroll bar. So is there any way to tell the second table "Stay on that same line, no matter what! And line up right next to the previous element please!"

  • Extract a subset of XML file using XSL

    - by Lucas -luky- Noleto
    I have this XML file: <Response> <errorCode>error Code</errorCode> <errorMessage>msg</errorMessage> <ResponseParameters> <className> <attribute1>a</attribute1> <attribute2>b</attribute2> </className> </ResponseParameters> </Response> And I want the output to be: <className> <attribute1>a</attribute1> <attribute2>b</attribute2> </className> My current XSL file is including also "ResponseParameters" tag, which I do not want. EDIT: note that the node className is dynamic. I do not know what will be this name at runtime. <?xml version="1.0"?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0"> <xsl:output indent="yes" /> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:copy-of select="//ResponseParameters"> </xsl:copy-of> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet>

  • ICollectionView.SortDescriptions sort does not work if underlying DataTable has zero rows

    - by BigBlondeViking
We have a WPF app that has a DataGrid inside a ListView. private DataTable table_; We do a bunch or dynamic column generation ( depending on the report we are showing ) We then do the a query and fill the DataTable row by row, this query may or may not have data.( not the problem, an empty grid is expected ) We set the ListView's ItemsSource to the DefaultView of the DataTable. lv.ItemsSource = table_.DefaultView; We then (looking at the user's pass usage of the app, set the sort on the column) Sort Method below: private void Sort(string sortBy, ListSortDirection direction) { ICollectionView dataView = CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(lv.ItemsSource); dataView.SortDescriptions.Clear(); var sd = new SortDescription(sortBy, direction); dataView.SortDescriptions.Add(sd); dataView.Refresh(); } In the Zero DataTable rows scenario, the sort does not "hold"? and if we dynamically add rows they will not be in sorted order. If the DataTable has at-least 1 row when the sort is applied, and we dynamically add rows to the DataTable, the rows com in sorted correctly. I have built a standalone app that replicate this... It is an annoyance and I can add a check to see if the DataTable was empty, and re-apply the sort... Anyone know whats going on here, and am I doing something wrong? FYI: What we based this off if comes from the MSDN as well: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms745786.aspx

  • iPhone SDK 3.0 and symbolicatecrash not getting along?

    - by Steve
    * UPDATE * I've reinstalled with Snow Leopard, clean install. Completely wiped my existing Leopard install. Same problem persists. I've tried numbers of versions of symbolicatecrash to resolve symbols in my crash reports. From the version provided by Apple, to Alan's Quatermain's version posted on GitHub and finally from http://openradar.appspot.com/6438643. For whatever reason, the best results I can get is for symbols on my own libraries to get resolved. Normally, this is enough data to point me in the right direction -- other times it is not. With 2.x I had no problems getting the symbols for my code + Apple provided libraries from within the stack traces in each thread. Most likely an issue with my environment here, I'm not at all doubting the work that Apple or Alan have done. Yes I'm certain the dSYM I have stashed away is the same exact one that's generating the crash report. Although 'Foo' is me, and getting symbols from it is wonderful, I need to see symbols from the other functions in the stack to truly understand my reports. Note: For devices that crash running the app on iPhone OS 2.2.1, I have no problem getting all symbols. This is an iPhone OS 3.0 issue it appears. Also, while running symbolicatecrash in verbose mode here's a few of the things that struck me as wrong: - NO MATCH NOT searching in Spotlight for dsym with UUID of /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/CoreFoundation ## Warning: Can't find any unstripped binary that matches version of /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/CoreFoundation ..........fetching symbol file for libobjc.A.dylib--[undef] Searching [/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0 (5A345)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0 (5A347)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0.1 (5B108)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0.2 (5C1)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1.1/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.2.1/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.2/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/3.0 (7A341)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib]...--[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0 (5A345)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0 (5A347)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0.1 (5B108)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.0.2 (5C1)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1.1/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.1/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.2.1/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/2.2/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH --[/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/3.0 (7A341)/Symbols/usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib] -- NO MATCH NOT searching in Spotlight for dsym with UUID of /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib ## Warning: Can't find any unstripped binary that matches version of /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib Here's an example of the crash report after running it through symbolicatecrash: Thread 0 Crashed: 0 libSystem.B.dylib 0x31dc476c 0x31d46000 + 517996 1 libSystem.B.dylib 0x31dc4755 0x31d46000 + 517973 2 Foo 0x00053075 uncaught_exception_handler + 21 3 CoreFoundation 0x3028f65f 0x301fd000 + 599647 4 libobjc.A.dylib 0x30013693 0x3000c000 + 30355 5 libstdc++.6.dylib 0x374ccc2d 0x3748a000 + 273453 6 libstdc++.6.dylib 0x374ccc81 0x3748a000 + 273537 7 libstdc++.6.dylib 0x374ccd4d 0x3748a000 + 273741 8 libobjc.A.dylib 0x300135ff 0x3000c000 + 30207 9 CoreFoundation 0x30222f2d 0x301fd000 + 155437 10 CoreFoundation 0x30222ecb 0x301fd000 + 155339 11 Foundation 0x30521e33 0x30501000 + 134707 12 Foundation 0x30570d47 0x30501000 + 458055 13 Foo 0x0000a1db -[Bar barfoo] (Bar.m:1617) 14 Foo 0x00032f73 -[MyViewController foobar] (MyViewController.m:727) 15 Foo 0x000329b9 -[MyViewController foobar] (MyViewController.m:666) 16 Foo 0x00031fab -[MyViewController tabBar:tabSelected:] (MyViewController.m:440) 17 Foo 0x00068d41 -[TTTabBar setSelectedTabIndex:] (TTTabBar.m:160) 18 Foo 0x00068ca3 -[TTTabBar setSelectedTabView:] (TTTabBar.m:142) 19 Foo 0x000689cf -[TTTabBar tabTouchedUp:] (TTTabBar.m:83) 20 CoreFoundation 0x302552f9 0x301fd000 + 361209 21 UIKit 0x3094d101 0x308ed000 + 393473 22 UIKit 0x3094d0a1 0x308ed000 + 393377 23 UIKit 0x3094d073 0x308ed000 + 393331 24 UIKit 0x3094cdcd 0x308ed000 + 392653 25 UIKit 0x309779c1 0x308ed000 + 567745 26 UIKit 0x30977011 0x308ed000 + 565265 27 UIKit 0x309767d9 0x308ed000 + 563161 28 UIKit 0x30923613 0x308ed000 + 222739 29 UIKit 0x30923163 0x308ed000 + 221539 30 GraphicsServices 0x32045a4d 0x32041000 + 19021 31 CoreFoundation 0x30253041 0x301fd000 + 352321 32 CoreFoundation 0x30252771 0x301fd000 + 350065 33 GraphicsServices 0x32044b0f 0x32041000 + 15119 34 GraphicsServices 0x32044bbb 0x32041000 + 15291 35 UIKit 0x308f0363 0x308ed000 + 13155 36 UIKit 0x308ef121 0x308ed000 + 8481 37 Foo 0x00002097 main (main.m:13)

  • Why Does My Website Redirect me to my localhost?

    - by Noah Brainey
Alright, my website has some issues that I'm not sure what's causing them. Visit this page http://online-file-sharing.net/tos.html and click one of the bottom footer links... it redirects you to your localhost in the address bar. I have no idea why it does this. I'm hosting this website on my own server, which is this computer, and using Xampp. If this information helps. Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm also using DYNDNS as my nameservers. I've already ask this question on superuser and webapps QnA sites neither could help. They said to come here. Another thing to note is that this website runs on one script and not multiple scripts (upload.cgi). However there are three files that aren't dynamic and aren't part of the upload.cgi file... these are about.html, browse.html and tos.html. Another thing to note is that my homepage which is upload.cgi can only be accessed by manually typing in online-file-sharing.net/cgi-bin/upload.cgi (which isn't it's real location but it seems to recognize it this way... but redirects me to my localhost). .htaccess file code: DirectoryIndex upload.cgi My upload.cgi path code: my $version = "4.14"; $ENV{PATH} = '/bin:/usr/bin'; delete @ENV{'IFS', 'CDPATH', 'ENV', 'BASH_ENV'}; ($ENV{DOCUMENT_ROOT}) = ($ENV{DOCUMENT_ROOT} =~ /(.*)/); # untaint. #$ENV{SCRIPT_NAME} = '/cgi-bin/upload.cgi'; use lib './perlmodules'; #use Time::HiRes 'gettimeofday'; #my $hires_start = gettimeofday(); my (%PREF,%TEXT) = (); The script I'm using is FileChucker. I hope this information is enough to find an answer... if not please let me know and I'll post as much information as you need!

  • Seperating Javascript and Html, when dynamically adding html via javascript

    - by optician
I am currently building a very dynamic table for a list application, which will basically perform basic CRUD functions via AJAX. What I would like to do is separate the visual design and javascript to the point where I can change the design side without touching the JS side. This would only work where the design stays roughly the same(i would like to use it for rapid protyping) Here is an example. <table> <tr><td>record-123</td><td>I am line 123</td><td>delete row</td></tr> <tr><td>record-124</td><td>I am line 124</td><td>delete row</td></tr> <tr><td>record-125</td><td>I am line 125</td><td>delete row</td></tr> <tr><td>add new record</td></tr> </table> Now, when I add a new record, I would like to insert a new row of html, but I would rather not put this html into the javascript file. What I am considering is creating a row like this on the page, near the table. <tr style='visble:none;' id='template-row'><td>record-id</td><td>content-area</td><td>delete row</td></tr> And when I come to add the new row, I search the page for the tags with the id=template-row , and then grab it, do a string replace on it, and then put it in the right place in the page. As long as the design doesn't shift radically, and I keep the placeholder strings the same, it means designs can be quickly modified without touching the js. Can any give any advice on a methodology like this?

  • wpf - window to be tight round user control

    - by Andy Clarke
Hi, I've got a user control that I'm loading into a Window dynamically - I wanted to set the Window so that it didn't have a size and then I thought the window to resize accordingly depending on the UserControl. However it dosn't - can anyone assist please? I've made a very basic example - I've cut out the dynamic bits and just put a UserControl in a Window. What do I need to do to get the window to be tight around the UserControl? Thanks, Andy <UserControl x:Class="WpfApplication1.UserControl1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Height="300" Width="300" Background="LightBlue"> <Grid> </Grid> </UserControl> <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:WpfApplication1="clr-namespace:WpfApplication1" Title="Window1" > <Grid> <WpfApplication1:UserControl1> </WpfApplication1:UserControl1> </Grid> </Window>

  • Populating array of input fields as alternate fields using jQuery UI datepicker

    - by Micor
I am using jquery ui datepicker in order to populate start and end dates for multiple events on the same page, the number of events is dynamic and I need to post day, month and year as separate fields, so I have something like this: <input type="text" name="event[0].startDate" class="date"/> <input type="hidden" name="event[0].startDate_day" class="startDate_day" /> <input type="hidden" name="event[0].startDate_month" class="startDate_month" /> <input type="hidden" name="event[0].startDate_year" class="startDate_year" /> <input type="text" name="event[0].endDate" class="date"/> <input type="hidden" name="event[0].endDate_day" class="endDate_day" /> <input type="hidden" name="event[0].endDate_month" class="endDate_month" /> <input type="hidden" name="event[0].endDate_year" class="startDate_year" /> event[1]... event[2]... I started working on jQuery functionality and this is what I have so far, which will populate alternate fields for startDate by class, of course it will not do what I need because I need to populate by field name rather then class: $(".date").datepicker({ onClose: function(dateText, picker) { $('.startDate_month').val( dateText.split(/\//)[0] ); $('.startDate_day').val( dateText.split(/\//)[1] ); $('.startDate_year').val( dateText.split(/\//)[2] ); }}); I need help figuring out how can I get the name of the input field within datepicker function so the alternate field assignment done by that field name + _day, month, year so this function can work for all the events on the page, making function above look more like: $(".date").datepicker({ onClose: function(dateText, picker) { $('input[' + $name + '_month' + ']').val( dateText.split(/\//)[0] ); $('input[' + $name + '_day' + ']').val( dateText.split(/\//)[1] ); $('input[' + $name + '_year' + ']').val( dateText.split(/\//)[2] ); }}); Hope that makes sense :) Thanks

I want to completely understand how to use relative and absolute url address in static and dynamic files. ~ : / : .. : in a relative URL indicates the parent directory . : refers to the current directory / : always replaces the entire pathname of the base URL // : always replaces everything from the hostname onwards This example is easy when you are working without virtual directory. But i am working on virtual directory. Relative URI Absolute URI about.html http://WebReference.com/html/about.html tutorial1/ http://WebReference.com/html/tutorial1/ tutorial1/2.html http://WebReference.com/html/tutorial1/2.html / http://WebReference.com/ //www.internet.com/ http://www.internet.com/ /experts/ http://WebReference.com/experts/ ../ http://WebReference.com/ ../experts/ http://WebReference.com/experts/ ../../../ http://WebReference.com/ ./ http://WebReference.com/html/ ./about.html http://WebReference.com/html/about.html I want to simulate a site below, like my project which is working on virtual directory. These are my aspx and ascx folder http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/MainSite/ASPX/default.aspx http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/MainSite/ASCX/UserCtrl/login.ascx http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/AdminSite/ASPX/ASCX/default.aspx These are my JS Files(which will be use both with the aspx and ascx files): http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/MainSite/JavascriptFolder/jsFile.js http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/AdminSite/JavascriptFolder/jsFile.js this is my static web page address(I want to show some pictures and run inside some js functions): http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/HTMLFiles/page.html this is my image folder http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/Images/PNG/arrow.png http://hostAddress:port/virtualDirectory/Images/GIF/arrow.png if i want to write and image file's link in my ASPX file i should write aspxImgCtrl.ImageUrl = Server.MapPath("~")+"/Images/GIF/arrow.png"; But if i want to write the path hard coded or from javascript file, what kind of url address it should be?

  • Separating Javascript and Html, when dynamically adding html via javascript

  • Any way to avoid creating a huge C# COM interface wrapper when only a few methods needed?

    - by Paul Accisano
Greetings all, I’m working on a C# program that requires being able to get the index of the hot item in Windows 7 Explorer’s new ItemsView control. Fortunately, Microsoft has provided a way to do this through UI Automation, by querying custom properties of the control. Unfortunately, the System.Windows.Automation namespace inexplicably does not seem to provide a way to query custom properties! This leaves me with the undesirable position of having to completely ditch the C# Automation namespace and use only the unmanaged COM version. One way to do it would be to put all the Automation code in a separate C++/CLI module and call it from my C# application. However, I would like to avoid this option if possible, as it adds more files to my project, and I’d have to worry about 32/64-bit problems and such. The other option is to make use of the ComImport attribute to declare the relevant interfaces and do everything through COM-interop. This is what I would like to do. However, the relevant interfaces, such as IUIAutomation and IUIAutomationElement, are FREAKING HUGE. They have hundreds of methods in total, and reference tons and tons of interfaces (which I assume I would have to also declare), almost all of which I will never ever use. I don’t think the UI Automation interfaces are declared in any Type Library either, so I can’t use TLBIMP. Is there any way I can avoid having to manually translate a bajillion method signatures into C# and instead only declare the ten or so methods I actually need? I see that C# 4.0 added a new “dynamic” type that is supposed to ease COM interop; is that at all relevant to my problem? Thanks

  • ZendX_JQuery dialogContainer usage

    - by Kalle Johansson
Hi ! I'm aming to make use of the ZendX_JQuery dialogContainer view helper, in order to produce a modal window, were users can input specified information(for example send a message). I'm trying to use the dialogContainer view helper in this fashion. First of, include the ZendX library in the applications library folder. Secondly, include the following row in the initViewHelper method within the Bootstrap.php file "$view-addHelperPath('ZendX/JQuery/View/Helper/', 'ZendX_JQuery_View_Helper');" third, adding the following conditional enabling of js in the layout.phtml "<?php if($this->jQuery()->isEnabled()){ $this->jQuery()->setLocalPath($this->baseUrl() .'/js/jquery/js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js') ->setUiLocalPath($this->baseUrl() .'/js/jquery/js/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.min.js') ->addStylesheet($this->baseUrl() .'/js/jquery/css/ui-lightness/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.css'); echo $this->jQuery(); } ?>" fourth, creating my Application_Form_JQueryForm extending ZendX_JQuery_Form "<?php class Application_Form_JQueryForm extends ZendX_JQuery_Form { private $form; public function init() { $this->form = $this->setAction(Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance()->getBaseUrl() . '/index/index') ->setMethod('post'); $this->form->setDecorators(array( 'FormElements', 'Form', array ('DialogContainer', array( 'id' => 'tabContainer', 'style' => 'width: 600px;', 'title' => 'Send a private message to Kalle', 'JQueryParams' => array( 'tabPosition' => 'top', ), )), )); $topic = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('topic'); $topic->setValue('topic') ->setRequired(true) ->setValidators(array('validators' => array( 'validator' => 'StringLength', 'options' => array(1,15) ))) ->setDecorators(array( 'ViewHelper', 'Description', 'Errors', array('HtmlTag', array('tag' => 'dl')))); $textarea = new Zend_Form_Element_Textarea('textarea'); $textarea->setValue('post a comment') ->setAttribs(array( 'rows' => 4, 'cols' => 20 )) ->setRequired(true) ->setValidators(array('validators' => array( 'validator' => 'StringLength', 'options' => array(1,15) ))) ->setDecorators(array( 'ViewHelper', 'Description', 'Errors', array('HtmlTag', array('tag' => 'dl')))); $submit = new Zend_Form_Element_Submit('submit'); $submit->setLabel('Send your comment') ->setDecorators(array( 'ViewHelper', 'Description', 'Errors', array('Description', array('escape' => false, 'tag' => 'span')), array('HtmlTag', array('tag' => 'dl')))) ->setDescription('or <a href="/index/index/send/false">Cancel</a>'); $this->form->addElements(array($topic, $textarea, $submit)); } }" This form is then instanciated in the controllers action method, and called in the view. And so to the problem of mine, no matter what i try, in order to for instance set, the width of the dialogContainer or any other parameter (color, css, height, so on and so forth), this being in the JQueryForm's setDecorator part for the form, i can't seem to get any change whatsoever in the resulting modal when called in the view, any help in the proper direction would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance, Kalle Johansson

  • Good grammar for date data type for recursive descent parser LL(1)

    - by Totophil
I'm building a custom expression parser and evaluator for production enviroment to provide a limited DSL to the users. The parser itself as the DSL, need to be simple. The parser is going to be built in an exotic language that doesn't support dynamic expression parsing nor has any parser generator tools available. My decision is to go for recursive descent approach with LL(1) grammar, so that even programmers with no previous experience in evaluating expression could quickly learn how the code works. It has to handle mixed expressions made up of several data types: decimals, percentages, strings and dates. And dates in the format of dd/mm/yyyy are easy to confuse with a string of devision ops. Is where a good solution to this problem? My own solution that is aimed at keeping the parser simple involves prefixing dates with a special symbol, let's say apostrophe: <date> ::= <apostr><digit><digit>/<digit><digit>/<digit><digit><digit><digit> <apostr> ::= ' <digit> ::= '0'..'9'

  • Displaying single-instance business object data on SSRS

    - by Lachlan
I have a SQL Server Reporting Services local (i.e. RDLC) report displayed in a ReportViewer, with two subreports. I am using business objects to populate the datasets. What is the best way to populate single-instance data on my report, e.g. a dynamic title, or a text box that lists a calculated value, not based on the report data? I am currently displaying data using the following style: public class MyRecordList { string Name { get; set; } List<MyRecord> Records { get; set;} } public MyRecord { string Description { get; set;} string Value { get; set;} } I set the datasource to the Records in an instance of MyRecordsList, and they print out find in a table. But adding a textbox and and referring to Name displays nothing. I also tried turning Name into a List, and referring to the first in the list, using: =First(Fields!Name.Value, "Report1_MyRecordList") but still nothing is printed on the report.

  • Why is setting HTML5's CanvasPixelArray values ridiculously slow and how can I do it faster?

    - by Nixuz
    I am trying to do some dynamic visual effects using the HTML 5 canvas' pixel manipulation, but I am running into a problem where setting pixels in the CanvasPixelArray is ridiculously slow. For example if I have code like: imageData = ctx.getImageData(0, 0, 500, 500); for (var i = 0; i < imageData.length; i += 4){ imageData.data[i] = buffer[i]; imageData.data[i + 1] = buffer[i + 1]; imageData.data[i + 2] = buffer[i + 2]; } ctx.putImageData(imageData, 0, 0); Profiling with Chrome reveals, it runs 44% slower than the following code where CanvasPixelArray is not used. tempArray = new Array(500 * 500 * 4); imageData = ctx.getImageData(0, 0, 500, 500); for (var i = 0; i < imageData.length; i += 4){ tempArray[i] = buffer[i]; tempArray[i + 1] = buffer[i + 1]; tempArray[i + 2] = buffer[i + 2]; } ctx.putImageData(imageData, 0, 0); My guess is that the reason for this slowdown is due to the conversion between the Javascript doubles and the internal unsigned 8bit integers, used by the CanvasPixelArray. Is this guess correct? Is there anyway to reduce the time spent setting values in the CanvasPixelArray?

  • Run Sinatra via a Rake Task to Generate Static Files?

    - by viatropos
I'm not sure I can put this correctly but I'll give it a shot. I want to use Sinatra to generate static html files once I am ready to deploy an application, so the resulting final website would be pure static HTML. During development, however, I want everything to be dynamic so I can use Haml and straight Ruby code to make things fast/dry/clear. I don't want to use Jekyll or some of the other static site generators out there because they don't have as much power as Sinatra. So all I basically need to be able to do is run a rake task such as: rake sinatra:generate_static_files. That would run the render commands for Haml and everything else, and the result would be written to files. My question is, how do I do that with Sinatra in a Rake task? Can I do it in a Rake task? The problem is, I don't know how to include the Sinatra::Application in the rake task... The only other way I could think of doing it is using net/http to access a URL that does all of that, but that seems like overkill. Any ideas how on to solve this?

  • python win32com EXCEL data input error

    - by Rafal
Welcome, I'm exporting results of my script into Excel spreadsheet. Everything works fine, I put big sets of data into SpreadSheet, but sometimes an error occurs: File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\win32com\client\dynamic.py", line 550, in __setattr__ self._oleobj_.Invoke(entry.dispid, 0, invoke_type, 0, value) pywintypes.com_error: (-2147352567, 'Exception.', (0, None, None, None, 0, -2146777998), None)*** I suppose It's not a problem of input data format. I put several different types of data strings, ints, floats, lists and it works fine. When I run the sript for the second time it works fine - no error. What's going on? PS. This is code that generates error, what's strange is that the error doesn't occur always. Say 30% of runs results in an error. : import win32com.client def Generate_Excel_Report(): Excel=win32com.client.Dispatch("Excel.Application") Excel.Workbooks.Add(1) Cells=Excel.ActiveWorkBook.ActiveSheet.Cells for i in range(100): Row=int(35+i) for j in range(10): Cells(int(Row),int(5+j)).Value="string" for i in range(100): Row=int(135+i) for j in range(10): Cells(int(Row),int(5+j)).Value=32.32 #float Generate_Excel_Report() The strangest for me is that when I run the script with the same code, the same input many times, then sometimes an error occurs, sometimes not. Thanks in advance for any help
