• Is there any way to combine transparency and "ajax usability" with HTML templates

  I'm using HTML_Template_Flexy in PHP but the question should apply to any language or template library. I am outputting a list of relatively complex objects. In the beginning I just iterated over a list of the objects and called a toHtml method on them. When I was about to have my layout designer look over the template I noticed that it was too opaque and that he would have ended up looking through and/or editing many additional php source files to see what really gets generated by the toHtml method. So I extracted most of the HTML strings in the php classes up to the template which made for one clear file where you can see the whole page structure at once. However this causes problems when you want to add an object to the list using javascript. Then I have to keep the old toHtml method and maintain both the main template and the html strings at the same time, so I can output just the HTML for a new object that should be added to the page. So I'm back to the idea of using smaller templates for the objects that make up the page, but I was wondering if there was some easy way of having my cake and eating it too by having one template that shows the whole page but also the mini-templates for smaller objects on the page. Edit: Yes, updating the page is not a problem at all. My concern is with having both maintainability and transparency of the template files. If I have one single template for the whole page, then I must maintain mini-templates of the objects that are shown on the page. If I just have the mini-templates and include them from the higher-level template it becomes more difficult to look at the top-level html and imagine what the end result will look like.

• How to simulate inner exception in C++

  Basically I want to simulate .NET Exception.InnerException in C++. I want to catch exception from bottom layer and wrap it with another exception and throw again to upper layer. • JAXB does not call setter when unmarshalling objects

  Hi all, I am using JAXB 2.0 JDK 6 in order to unmarshall an XML instance into POJOs. In order to add some custom validation I have inserted a validation call into the setter of a property, yet despite it being private, it seems that the unmarshaller does not call the setter but directly modifies the private field. It is crucial to me that the custom validation occurs for this specific field every unmarshall call. What should I do? • C#: Why am I still getting an RCW error when exiting my application?

  To be specific, the error is: An attempt has been made to free an RCW that is in use. The RCW is in use on the active thread or another thread. Attempting to free an in-use RCW can cause corruption or data loss. The application in question is a small applet that displays the current clock speed of the CPU as a system tray icon. I'm using a System.Timers.Timer object to refresh the systray icon at an interval of 2.5 seconds. There's a single context menu item to exit the application, which uses the following function to unload everything: public void ExitApp(object sender, EventArgs e) { //stop and disable the timer theInterval.Stop(); theInterval.Enabled = false; //unload the system tray icon TheIcon.Visible = false; //exit the application Application.Exit(); } If I take out everything but Application.Exit(); I get an RCW error and the systray icon doesn't go away until I mouse over it. Everything was working perfectly until I changed the window style of the hidden form used to initialize the systray icon and the timer. If it helps any, I'm using C# 2010 Express.

• vb.net, How can I limit a textchanged event for a textbox to keyboard input only?

  Hi everyone, Please allow me to explain what I have and what I am trying to achieve. I have a textbox (called txtb1) and a button under it (called btn_browse) on a winform in a vb.net project. When the user clicks the button a folder browser dialog appears. The user selects his desired folder and when he/she clicks 'ok' the dialog closes and the path of the folder selected appears in the textbox. I also want to store that value in a variable to be used somewhere else(the value will be copied to an xml file when the user clicks 'apply' on the form, but this has no effect nor is related to my problem). To achieve that I have the following code: Public myVar As String Private Sub btn_browse_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn_browse.Click Dim f As New FolderBrowserDialog If f.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then txtb1.Text = f.SelectedPath End If myVar = txtb1.text f.Dispose() End Sub This part works with no problems. Now, what if the user either: 1- decides to enter the path manually rather than use the browse button. or, 2- after using the browse button and selecting the folder they decide to manually change the location In trying to solve this I added a textchanged event to the textbox as follows: Private Sub txtb1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtb1.TextChanged myVar = txtb1.Text End Sub However, this is not working. Apparently, and I don't know if this is relevant, when the user selects the desired folder using the browse button the textchanged event is also triggered. and when I click on the textbox (to give it focus) and press any keyboard key the application simply stops responding. So my questions are: am I going about this the right way? if my logic is flawed, could someone point me to how usually such a thing could be achieved? is it possible to limit the triggering events to only keyboard input as a way around this? • How to solve concurrency problems in ASP.NET Windows-Workflow and ActiveRecord/NHibernate?

  I have found that ActiveRecord uses the Session-Scope object within the ASP.NET application and that if the web-site is read-write we can have a tug-o-war between the Workflow's own Data-Access SessionScope and that of the ASP.NET site. I would really like to have the WindowsWorkflow Runtime use the same object session as the web-site however, they have different lifetimes. Sometimes, a web-request may save a very simple piece of data which would execute quickly however, if the web-site kicks off a workflow process.. how can that workflow make data-modifications while still allowing the Appliaction_EndRequest to dispose the ASP.NET SessionScope ... it's like ownership of the SessionScope should be shared between the workflow runtime and the ASP.NET website. Manual Workflow Scheduler may be the Savior... if a workflow is synchronous and merely uses CallExternalMethod to interact with the Host then we could constrain all the data-access to the host.. then the sessionScope can exist once. This however, won't solve the problem of a delay activity... if this delay fires, we could need to update data... in this case we'd need an isolated Session Scope and concurrency may arise. This however, differs from SharePoint workflows where it seems that the SharePoint workflow can save data from the web and the workflow and that concurrency is handled through other means. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to allow the workflow to manage data and play nice with ASP.NET web sites?

  Hey, so I'm having a bunch of trouble getting ExternalInterface to work, which is odd, because I use it somewhat often. I'm hoping it's something I just missed because I've been looking at it too long. The flash_ready function is correctly returning the objectID, and as far as I can tell, everything else is in order. Unfortunately, when I run it, I get an error (varying by browser) telling me that basically document.getElementById(<movename>).test() is not a valid method. • VB .Net - Reflection: Reflected Method from a loaded Assembly executes before calling method. Why?

  When I am loading an Assembly dynamically, then calling a method from it, I appear to be getting the method from Assembly executing before the code in the method that is calling it. It does not appear to be executing in a Serial manner as I would expect. Can anyone shine some light on why this might be happening. • How to make a Global Array?

  So, I read this post, and it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. However... it doesn't work. I guess I'm not going to go with the singleton object, but rather making the array in either a Global.h file, or insert it into the _Prefix file. Both times I do that though, I get the error: Expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'static' and it doesn't work. So... I'm not sure how to get it to work, I can remove extern and it works, but I feel like I need that to make it a constant. The end goal is to have this Mutable Array be accessible from any object or any file in my project. Help would be appreciated! This is the code for my Globals.h file: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Globals : NSObject { static extern NSMutableArray * myGlobalArray; } @end I don't think I need anything in the implementation file. If I were to put that in the prefix file, the error was the same.

  I have an abstract object called Applicant and two different types of objects that inherit from Applicant called Business and Individual. When you choose a row I want to show details of either the business or individual as a internal grid. • Android Hashtable Serialization

  Hi All, I am having a weird issue with serialization of a Hashtable. I have made a Server, Client app. Where server(PC/MAC) is serializing a Hashtable and sending it to Client(Android) through UDP. The data is sent/read correctly but I get a bunch of these messages below on LogCat. 04-12 11:19:43.059: DEBUG/dalvikvm(407): GetFieldID: unable to find field Ljava/util/Hashtable;.loadFactor:F Occasionally, I would see these 04-12 11:21:19.150: DEBUG/dalvikvm(407): GC freed 10814 objects / 447184 bytes in 97ms The app would run for 2-3 mins and then crash. Interestingly enough I do not see the Loadfactor errors on SDK 1.5. But I do see the GC Free xxxx objects, quiet often. After debugging I have found that the issue is with de-serialization and the error/warning are coming from following code Code: ByteArrayInputStream bis = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes); ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(bis); object = ois.readObject(); at Code: object = ois.readObject(); on the client. My server is serializing code is the following. • Save QList<int> to QSettings

  Hello, I want to save a QList<int> to my QSettings without looping through it. I know that I could use writeArray() and a loop to save all items or to write the QList to a QByteArray and save this but then it is not human readable in my INI file.. Currently I am using the following to transform my QList<int> to QList<QVariant>: QList<QVariant> variantList; //Temp is the QList<int> for (int i = 0; i < temp.size(); i++) variantList.append(temp.at(i)); And to save this QList<Variant> to my Settings I use the following code: QVariant list; list.setValue(variantList); //saveSession is my QSettings object saveSession.setValue("MyList", list); The QList is correctly saved to my INI file as I can see (comma seperated list of my ints) But the function crashes on exit. I already tried to use a pointer to my QSettings object instead but then it crashes on deleting the pointer ..

Inside the function i call 2 other functions that use getJSON and POST (with json as a return object) to get some data. • Help creating a predicate for use with filteredArrayUsingPredicate

  I am trying to learn how to use predicates and so am trying to replace the following working code with filteredArrayUsingPredicate... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; for (NSString *location in locations) { NSRange range = [location rangeOfString:query options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (range.length > 0) { [filteredLocations addObject:location]; } } Instead I am trying.... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SELF contains %@", searchText]; [filteredLocations addObjectsFromArray: [locations filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]]; I am not getting the same results with the predicate as I am with for loop rangeOfString. With the range of string for example searchText returns an 8 item array while with the same value returns only 2 with the predicate. Another example, hono will find honolulu in the locations array while it will not find anything using the predicate. As I understand it SELF represents the object object being evaluated ie. the locations array, so I think that is the correct syntax. Any help would be appreciated Thanks, John

  In one of my main data integration test harnesses I create and use Fluent NHibernate's SingleConnectionSessionSourceForSQLiteInMemoryTesting, to get a fresh session for each test. After each test, I close the connection, session, and session factory, and throw out the nested StructureMap container they came from. This works for almost any simple data integration test I can think, including ones that utilize Fluent NHib's PersistenceSpecification object. When I test the application's lengthy database bootstrapping process, which creates and saves thousands of domain objects, I start seeing issues. It's not that the setup and tear down fails, in fact, the test successfully bootstraps the in-memory database as the application would bootstrap the real database in the production environment. The problem occurs when the database bootstrapping occurs a second time on a new in-memory database, with a new session and session factory. The error is: NHibernate.StaleStateException : Unexpected row count: 0; expected: 1 The row count is indeed Unexpected, the row that the application under test is looking for should be in the session. You see, it's not that any data from the last integration test is sticking around, it's that for some reason the session just stops working mid-database-boostrap. And I've looked everywhere for a place I might be holding on to an old session and I can't find one. I've searched through the code for static singleton objects, but there are none anywhere near the code in question. I have a couple StructureMap InstanceScope singleton's but they are getting thrown out with each nested container that is lost after every test teardown. I've tried every possible variation on disposing and closing every object involved with each test teardown and it still fails on this lengthy database bootstrap. But non-bootstrap related database tests appear to work fine. I'm starting to run out of options and may have to surrender lengthy database integration tests in favor of WatiN-based acceptance tests. Can anyone give me any clue about how I can figure out why some of my SingleConnectionSessionSourceForSQLiteInMemoryTesting aren't repeatable? Any advice at all, about how to make an NHibernate SqlLite database integration test harness repeatable?

• NHibernate: Mapping multiple classes from a single table row

  I couldn't find an answer to this specific question. I am trying to keep my domain model object-oriented and re-use objects where possible. I am having an issue determining how to provide a mapping to multiple classes from a single row. Let me explain with an example: I have a single table, call it Customer. A customer has several attributes; but, for brevity, assume it has Id, Name, Address, City, State, ZipCode. I would like to create a Customer and Address class that look like this: public class Customer { public virtual long Id {get;set;} public virtual string Name {get;set;} public virtual Address Address {get;set;} } public class Address { public virtual string Address {get;set;} public virtual string City {get;set;} public virtual string State {get;set;} public virtual string ZipCode {get;set;} } What I am having trouble with is determining what the mapping would be for the Address class within the Customer class. There is no Address table and there isn't a "set" of addresses associated with a Customer. I just want a more object-oriented view of the Customer table in code. There are several other tables that have address information in them and it would be nice to have a reusable Address class to deal with them. Addresses are not shared so breaking all addresses into a separate table with foreign keys seems to be overkill and, actually, more painful since I would need foreign keys to multiple tables. Can someone enlighten me on this type of mapping? Please provide an example if you can. Thanks for any insights! -Mike

  I'm trying to serialise an object using simple xml (http://simple.sourceforge.net/). The object setup is pretty simple: @Root(name = "order_history") public class OrderHistory { @Element(name = "id", required = false) public int ID; @Element(name = "id_order_state") public int StateID; @Element(name = "id_order") public int OrderID; } The problem is when I create a new instance of this class without an ID: OrderHistory newhistory = new OrderHistory(); newhistory.OrderID = _orderid; newhistory.StateID = _stateid; and I serialize it via simple xml: StringWriter xml = new StringWriter(); Serializer serializer = new Persister(); serializer.write(newhistory, xml); it still reads 0 in the resulting xml: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <order_history> <id>0</id> <id_order>2</id_order> <id_order_state>8</id_order_state> </order_history> I'm guessing the reason for this is that the ID property is not null, since integers can't be null. But I really need to get rid of this node, and I'd rather not remove it manually. Any clues anyone?

• Unexpected Event Behavior When Using VB6 with COM Interop (C#)

  We are using a COM Interop (C#) to allow for a VB6 application to send data to a server. Once the server receives the data, the managed code will raise a DataSent event. This event is only fired after a correlation ID is returned to the original caller. About 1% of the time, we've encountered VB6 executing the raised event before finishing the function that originally sent the data. Using the following code: ' InteropTester.COMEvents is the C# object ' Dim WithEvents m_ManagedData as InteropTester.COMEvents Private Sub send_data() Set m_ManagedData = new COMEvents Dim id as Integer ' send 5 to using the managed interop object ' id = m_ManagedData.SendData(5) LogData "ID " & id & " was returned" m_correlationIds.Add id End Sub Private Sub m_ManagedData_DataSent(ByVal sender as Variant, ByVal id as Integer) LogData "Data was successfully sent to C#" ' check if the returned ID is in the m_correlationIds collection goes here' End Sub We can verify that the id is returned with a value when we call m_ManagedData.SendData(5), but the logs then show that the m_ManagedData_DataSent is occasionally called before send_data ends. How is possible for VB6 to access the Message Loop to know that the DataSent event was raised before exiting send_data()? We are not calling DoEvents and everything within VB6 is synchronous.   Hi, I've been given an fla to make some changes too. Basically its a fairly long timeline animation with sound. So far I've successfully added a few button functions for sound etc.. but one has got me stumped. One of the buttons needs to load a child swf. I'm using the code below but I'm recieving an error - 'Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference'. • iPhone: contentInset isn't animating

  In my app, I have a table view. When the user clicks a button, a UIView overlays part of that table view. It's essentially a partial modal. That table view is intentionally still scrollable while that modal is active. To allow the user to scroll to the bottom of the table view, I change the contentInset and scrollIndicatorInsets values to adjust for the smaller area above the modal. When the modal is taken away, I reset those inset values. The problem is that when the user has scrolled to the bottom of the newly adjusted inset and then dismisses the modal, the table view jumps abruptly to a new scroll position because the inset is changed instantly. I would like to animate it so there is a transition, but the beginAnimation/commitAnimations methods aren't affecting it for some reason. Any ideas as to why the values aren't getting animated? Any help is greatly appreciated!
