  • Obtaining Current Fiscal Year from Hierarchy with MDX

    I'm building a report in Reporting Services 2005 based on a SSAS 2005 cube. The basic idea of the report is that they want to see sales for this fiscal year to date vs. last year sales year to date. It sounds simple, but being that this is my first "real" report based on SSAS, I'm having a hell of a time. First, how would one calculate the current fiscal year, quarter, or month. I have a Fiscal Date Hierarchy with all that information in it, but I can't figure out how to say: "Based on today's date, find the current fiscal year, quarter, and month." My second, but slightly smaller problem, is getting last years sales vs. this years sales. I have seen MANY examples on how to do this, but they all assume that you select the date manually. Since this is a report and will run pretty much on it's own, I need a way to insert the "current" fiscal year, quarter, and month into the PERIODSTODATE or PARALLELPERIOD functions to get what I want. So, I'm begging for your help on this one. I have to have this report done by tomorrow monring and I'm beginning to freak out a bit. Thanks in advance.

    If I run the following query: select load_cyc_num , crnt_dnlq_age_cde , sum(cc_min_pymt_amt) as min_pymt , sum(ec_tot_bal) as budget , case when ec_tot_bal 0 then 'Y' else 'N' end as budget , case when ac_stat_cde in ('A0P','A1P','ARP','A3P') then 'Y' else 'N' end as arngmnt , sum(sn_close_bal) as st_bal from statements where (sn_close_bal 0 or ec_tot_bal 0) and load_cyc_num in (200911) group by load_cyc_num , crnt_dnlq_age_cde , case when ec_tot_bal 0 then 'Y' else 'N' end , case when ac_stat_cde in ('A0P','A1P','ARP','A3P') then 'Y' else 'N' end then I get the correct "BUDGET" grouping, but not the correct "ARRANGEMENT" grouping, only two rows have a "Y". If I change the order of the case statements in the GROUP BY, then I get the correct grouping (full Y-N breakdown for both columns). Am I missing something obvious?

I'm not able to set autoincrement on columns of type uniqueidentifier(the property 'autoincrement' is set to false and is not editable).

Okay so I got this : partial void OnCreated() { this.Id = Guid.NewGuid(); this.DateCreated = this.DateModified = DateTime.Now; this.Username = username; this.Password = password; this.Email = email; this.Birthday = birthday; this.Gender = gender; } However, this gives me two errors: Partial Methods must be declared private. Partial Methods must have empty method bodies. Alright I change it to Private Sub OnCreated() to remove both of those errors. However I am still stuck with...how can I pass it values as I would with a normal custom constructor? Also I am doing this in VB (converted it since I know most know/prefer C#), so would that have an affect on this?

  • Using outer query result in a subquery in postgresql

    I have two tables points and contacts and I'm trying to get the average points.score per contact grouped on a monthly basis. Note that points and contacts aren't related, I just want the sum of points created in a month divided by the number of contacts that existed in that month. So, I need to sum points grouped by the created_at month, and I need to take the count of contacts FOR THAT MONTH ONLY. It's that last part that's tricking me up. I'm not sure how I can use a column from an outer query in the subquery. I tried something like this: SELECT SUM(score) AS points_sum, EXTRACT(month FROM created_at) AS month, date_trunc('MONTH', created_at) + INTERVAL '1 month' AS next_month, (SELECT COUNT(id) FROM contacts WHERE contacts.created_at <= next_month) as contact_count FROM points GROUP BY month, next_month ORDER BY month So, I'm extracting the actual month that my points are being summed, and at the same time, getting the beginning of the next_month so that I can say "Get me the count of contacts where their created at is < next_month" But it complains that column next_month doesn't exist This is understandable as the subquery knows nothing about the outer query. Qualifying with points.next_month doesn't work either. So can someone point me in the right direction of how to achieve this?     I understand the need to have referential integrity for limiting specific values on entry or possibly preventing them from removal upon a request of deletion. However, I am unclear as to a valid use case which would exclude this mechanism from always being used. I guess this would fall into several sub-questions: When is referential integrity not appropriate? Is it appropriate to have fields containing multiple and/or possibly incomplete subsets of a foreign key's list? Typically, should this be a schema structure design decision or an interface design decision? (Or possibly neither or both) Thoughts?

    I'm getting the infamous invalid number Oracle error. Hibernate is issuing an INSERT with a lot of columns, I want to know just the name of the column giving the problem. Is it possible? I hate Oracle messages, in 15 years they haven't improved a bit (the reason why is beyond my imagination).   • TooManyRowsAffectedException with encrypted triggers

    I'm using nHibernate to update 2 columns in a table that has 3 encrypted triggers on it. The triggers are not owned by me and I can not make changes to them, so unfortunately I can't SET NOCOUNT ON inside of them. Is there another way to get around the TooManyRowsAffectedException that is thrown on commit? Update 1 So far only way I've gotten around the issue is to step around the .Save routine with var query = session.CreateSQLQuery("update Orders set Notes = :Notes, Status = :Status where OrderId = :Order"); query.SetString("Notes", orderHeader.Notes); query.SetString("Status", orderHeader.OrderStatus); query.SetInt32("Order", orderHeader.OrderHeaderId); query.ExecuteUpdate(); It feels dirty and is not easily to extend, but it doesn't crater.

    I was making an edit to a long existing project. Specifically I added some fields to a table and had to delete the table from the LINQTOSQL designer and re-add it. doesn't Also had to do the same for a view. Mode some other code changes and went to build . Now my project won't build because it can't resolve any of the data context objects (all tables and views) in my code. I don't know what I did or how this happeened. I have many tables and views in the project's L2S data context so I don't wont to try and do over. Please any suggestions on how to resolve this problem are greatly appreciated. Desparate! The error messages I am getting are the familiar The type or namespace name 'equipment' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Everything works fine. 2) To dynamicaly execute the above query, I do this: Public ActionResult Index() { var products = db.Products .Where("Category = \"Soccer\"") .Select(/* WHAT SOULD I WRITE HERE TO SELECT NAME & PRICE?*/) return View(products); } I'm using both 'System.Lind.Dynamic' namespace and the DynamicLibrary.cs (downloaded from ScottGu blog). Here are my questions: What expression do I use to select only Name and Price? (Most importantly) How do I retrieve the data in my view? (i.e. What type the ViewPage inherits? ProductInfo?)

    I have 3 tables: subcontracts, companies and contacts. Each table has a active_status flags which shows that the item is still active (hasn't been deleted). Each contact has a company_id field which stores the id of the contact's company. Each subcontract has a company_id field which stores the subcontract's company. Each company has a company_id field which holds its guid and a primary_company field, b/c the company could be a subsidiary. If it's a subsidiary, the primary_company field holds the id of the primary company. I have a subcontract form. On the form, I have a drop-down of contacts which are stored in a contact table. Currently the drop-down lists all contacts. I would like to have the drop-down only list contacts which belong to the subcontract's company or any of that company's subsidiaries. I have the following query which I use elsewhere in the program to pass a company_id and get its subsidiaries. public IQueryable<company> GetSubsidiaryCompanies(Guid id) { return from c in db.companies where c.primary_company == id && c.active_status == true select c; } This is my current contact selection public IQueryable<contact> GetContacts() { return from c in db.contacts where c.active_status == true orderby c.contact_name select c; } What I need to do is pass it the subcontract.company_id and then only return the contacts where contact.company_id == subcontract.company_id or contact.company_id == one of the subsidiary ids.

    I have a single table called "Indexes", it contains one nvarchar and three ntext columns (all Full Text Indexes). Index is up to date. CONTAINSTABLE(Indexes, *), 'test', 5) //5 results No matter what I change the above keyword too, it only returns the first 3-5 results. It should roughly return 90-120 results, for the above query.     I'm chaining search criteria in my application through IQueryable extension methods, e.g.: public static IQueryable<Fish> AtAge (this IQueryable<Fish> fish, Int32 age) { return fish.Where(f => f.Age == age); } However, I also have a full text search stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[Fishes_FullTextSearch] @searchtext nvarchar(4000), @limitcount int AS SELECT Fishes.* FROM Fishes INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(Fishes, *, @searchtext, @limitcount) AS KEY_TBL ON Fishes.Id = KEY_TBL.[KEY] ORDER BY KEY_TBL.[Rank] The stored procedure obviously doesn't return IQueryable, however, is it possible to somehow limit the result set for the stored procedure using IQueryable's? I'm envisioning something like .AtAge(5).AboveWeight(100).Fishes_FulltextSearch("abc"). In this case, the fulltext search should execute on a smaller subset of my Fishes table (narrowed by Age and Weight). Is something like this possible? Sample code?

    Hi, Being fairly new to SSIS and the ETL process, I was wondering if there is anyway to loop though a record set within a DataFlowTask and pass each row (deriving parameters from the row) into a Stored Procedure (the next step in the ETL phase). Once i have passed the row into the stored procedure, I want the results from each iteration to be written to a Table. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

    I’d like to list all the people ( Person table ) that don’t live in same city as those cities listed in Location table. Thus, if Location table holds a record with City=’New York’ and State=’Moon’, but Person table holds a record with FirstName=’Someone’, City=’New York’ and Location=’Mars’, then Someone is listed in the resulting set, since she lives in New York located on Mars and not New York located on Moon, thus we’re talking about different cities with the same name.     I'm selecting table data of the current user: SELECT [ConfidenceLevel], [LoveLevel], [HappinessLevel] FROM [UserData] WHERE ([UserProfileID] = @UserProfileID) I have set a control to the unique user ID and it is getting the correct value: HTML: <asp:Label ID="userID" runat="server" Text="Labeluser"></asp:Label> C#: userID.Text = Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey.ToString(); I then use it in the where clause using the Configure Data Source window unique ID = control then controlID userID (fills in .text for me) I compile and run but nothing shows up where the table should be. Any suggestions?     Using Oracle 11g release 2, the following query gives an ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression: with intervals(time_interval) AS (select trunc(systimestamp) from dual union all select (time_interval + numtodsinterval(10, 'Minute')) from intervals where time_interval < systimestamp) select time_interval from intervals; The error suggests that the datatype of both subqueries of the UNION ALL are returning different datatypes. Even if I cast to TIMESTAMP in each of the subqueries, then I get the same error. What am I missing?

    I am trying to do this in one query. I asked a similar question a few days ago but my personal requirements have changed. I have a game type website where users can attend "classes". There are three tables in my DB. I am using MySQL. I have four tables: hl_classes (int id, int professor, varchar class, text description) hl_classes_lessons (int id, int class_id, varchar lessonTitle, varchar lexiconLink, text lessonData) hl_classes_answers (int id, int lesson_id, int student, text submit_answer, int percent) hl_classes stores all of the classes on the website. The lessons are the individual lessons for each class. A class can have infinite lessons. Each lesson is available in a specific term. hl_classes_terms stores a list of all the terms and the current term has the field active = '1'. When a user submits their answers to a lesson it is stored in hl_classes_answers. A user can only answer each lesson once. Lessons have to be answered sequentially. All users attend all "classes". What I am trying to do is grab the next lesson for each user to do in each class. When the users start they are in term 1. When they complete all 10 lessons in each class they move on to term 2. When they finish lesson 20 for each class they move on to term 3. Let's say we know the term the user is in by the PHP variable $term. So this is my query I am currently trying to massage out but it doesn't work. Specifically because of the hC.id is unknown in the WHERE clause SELECT hC.id, hC.class, (SELECT MIN(output.id) as nextLessonID FROM ( SELECT id, class_id FROM hl_classes_lessons hL WHERE hL.class_id = hC.id ORDER BY hL.id LIMIT $term,10 ) as output WHERE output.id NOT IN (SELECT lesson_id FROM hl_classes_answers WHERE student = $USER_ID)) as nextLessonID FROM hl_classes hC My logic behind this query is first to For each class; select all of the lessons in the term the current user is in. From this sort out the lessons the user has already done and grab the MINIMUM id of the lessons yet to be done. This will be the lesson the user has to do. I hope I have made my question clear enough.
