• How do i close the alert dialog that displays custom view

  I have an activity named MainActivity which has a button. On click of that button i am displaying an AlertDialog which contains a custom view named ChildWindow.xml. That custom view has multiple textboxes and a OK button. On click of the OK button, i am calling a method of MainActivity. I am able to access the ChildWindow here as view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Once the user clicks on the OK button, i have to close the alert dialog which i am able to do as view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); My problem is even though i have closed the the ChildWindow in the above statement, i am able to get reference to the textbox in the next line which means AlertDialog is closed but child window is still there. This is how the OK button click looks like: This works as expected: EditText tb = (EditText) view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), tb.getText(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG); toast.show(); view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); This should not work as i am closing the alert dialog and then getting the reference of the textbox but this works too. view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); EditText tb = (EditText) view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), tb.getText(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG); toast.show(); I think i am closing the alert dialog but i am not destroying it from the memory. Can someone point me out what am i missing here?

• Designing a user-defined list to be stored in a relational database - Should I include user index?

  By index, I mean, as the user creates the list, each item receives an integer index for its place in that particular list. Since there will be a table of ListItems, I'd prefer to avoid using the name "Index" for the field. Then I was thinking - should I even include the list index in the database? I figured I would because the list would be created in the same fashion every time, then. Or I could order the list for the user based on its actual primary key, since the list items are created in succession anyway... What should I do?

• Gradle + Robolectric: Where do I put the file org.robolectric.Config.properties?

  I'm trying to setup a test using Robolectric to click on a menu button in this repository. Basic Robolectric tests will run, but I'm not able to run any project-specific test using resources because it says it can't find my AndroidManifest.xml. After running ../gradlew clean check, here's the standard output from the Robolectric html file: WARNING: No manifest file found at ./AndroidManifest.xml.Falling back to the Android OS resources only. To remove this warning, annotate your test class with @Config(manifest=Config.NONE). I found these instructions which indicate I should create an org.robolectric.Config.properties file, but I'm not sure where to put it. I've tried everywhere, pretty much, and despite moving the file, the path in the error message is always the same as above (./AndroidManifest.xml). This makes me think the build process has never picked up the settings in the file org.robolectric.Config.properties. I also tried the @Config(manifest="") directive but this gave me a cannot find symbol error. If I move the AndroidManifest.xml into my project directory, then I get an error about it not being able to find the path ./res/values and I wasn't able to resolve that either. Any ideas? Update 1 Thanks Eugen, I'm now using @RunWith(RobolectricGradleTestRunner.class) instead of @RunWith(RobolectricTestRunner).   I have a list that is indexed like the following: >list.stuff [[1]] [[1]]$vector ... [[1]]$matrix .... [[1]]$vector [[2]] null [[3]] [[3]]$vector ... [[3]]$matrix .... [[3]]$vector . . . Each segment in the list is indexed according to another vector of indexes: >index.list 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 In list.stuff, only at each of the indexes 1,3,5,10,15 will there be 2 vectors and one matrix; everything else will be null like [[2]]. What I want to do is to lag like the lag.xts function so that whatever is stored in [[1]] will be pushed to [[3]] and the last one drops off. This also requires subsetting the list, if its possible. I was wondering if there exists some functions that handle list manipulation.   I did find an answer to this title and I did do a little research but I'm still not getting the flow. Here is what I want to happen: 1) click a button on the presenter view to open a modal view. 2) retrieve some value and click a button to close the modal view....sending the value to the presentor view and execute a method. I get that this works like a callback but I still can't figure out where to put the callback stuff. So, how exactly do I do this? A) In the presentViewController completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Or: B) In the modal view's dismissViewControllerAnimated completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Can somebody help me with some sample code? Or at least help me get the flow of which block to put the code in? Thank you, P

  What is View Link Consistency? When multiple instances (say VO1, VO2, VO3 etc) of an EO-based VO are based on the same underlying EO, a new row created in one of these VO instances (say VO1)can be automatically added (without re-query) to the row sets of the others (VO2, VO3 etc ). This capability is known as the view link consistency. This feature works for any VO for which it is enabled, regardless of whether they are involved in a view link or not. What causes View Link inConsistency? Unless jbo.viewlink.consistent  is disabled for this VO (or globally), or setAssociationConsistent(false) is applied, any of the following can cause View Link inConsistency.  1. setWhereClause 2. Unreferenced secondary EO 3. findByViewCriteria() 4. Using view link accessor row set Why does this happen - View Link inConsistency? Well, there can be one of the following reasons. a. In case of 1 & 2, the view link consistency flag is disabled on that view object. b. As far as 3 is concerned, findByViewCriteria is used to retrieve a new row set to process programmatically without changing the contents of the default row set. In this case, unlike previous cases, the view link consistency flag is not disabled, meaning that the changes in the default row set would be reflected in the new row set.  However, the opposite doesn't hold true. For instance, if a row is deleted from this new row set, the corresponding row in the default row set does not get deleted. In one of my features, which involved deletion of row(s), I resolved the view link inconsistency issue by replacing findByViewCriteria by applyViewCriteria. b. For 4, it's similar to 3 - whenever a view link accessor row set is retrieved, a new row set is created. Now, creating new row set does not mean re-executing the query each time, only creating a new instance of a RowSet object with its default iterator reset to the "slot" before the first row. Also, please note that this new row set always originates from an internally created view object instance, not one you that added to the data model. This internal view object instance is created as needed and added with a system-defined name to the root application module. Anyway, the very reason a distinct, internally-created view object instance is used is to guarantee that it remains unaffected by developer-related changes to their own view objects instances in the data model.

  I'm working on a utility to update a list of entities in a database as a group. The database contains a list of entities. The result of the update is a new list. The API accepts this new list. The update may end up modifying some of the entities in the list, creating new ones and deleting some. So at the entity level, I may have to do any of an insert, delete or update operation. But it's always true that the final list in the database will be the same as the list passed down to the API. Is there in Hibernate a way to treat this operation at the list level, that is, tell Hibernate to persist this list of entities, and let it take care of which need to be created, updated or deleted? There is no entity/table representing this list, btw. Just the entities themselves in a table.

Now the problem is, I have set into "Scale to Fill", then the image will be stretched in the full screen. Now i want to display the actual size of the image will be displayed in image view. For example 52X52 size image should be displayed with the same size in the image view.The 1200X1020 size image should be fit to the size of the image view .So according the size of the image it should fit to image view and i want the image smaller than image view should retain its original size(It should not stretch to fit the image view).   I have homework where I am to update a list using a function that takes two elements and returns a value of part of the first element given in the function. So it's required to update the entire listing by going through each element and update its value by applying the function against all other elements in the list (including itself). So far I've been trying to firstly map the list (so that each element is done the same) and then specifically update each elements value by mapping again just the value of the specified element however in trying to map just the specific value through: the function, the specific element and the entire list I keep getting complaints that I'm inferring the list of values made from the 'map function p@list list' rather than simply giving the value at p@list. Is this the correct method to try to update a list against the entire list itself? EDIT: spelling mistakes and grammar

I just installed view connection server component to new server and trying to do initial configuration, but when trying to log in I get following error " Error accessing the View Administrator. Contact the system administrator" Log file says following error 08:14:08,925 INFO LoginBean User administrator has failed to authenticate to View Administrator What is causing this problem?   I cannot find a Windows Explorer alternative that has full-tree view functionality like Path Finder on the Mac This is the type of view I am looking for (screenshot of Path Finder on Mac): By full-tree I mean: A tree view that includes files in addition to folders, and can be operated as its own pane-- not as a shared pane or attached pane which is characteristic of Q-Dir. Q-Dir and most others simply stick a folder tree pane on to a file list pane, which is not as useful (think Ruby on Rails application or anything with MVC-- I want to be able to pop open folders in the tree and have them stay open as I work between them).   I'm having some trouble with forwarding DHCP from a subnet behind an access list on a Cisco Catalyst 4500 switch. I'm hoping somebody can see the mistake I'm making. The subnet is defined like this: (first three octets of IP addresses and vrf name anonymized) interface Vlan40 ip vrf forwarding vrf_name ip address 10.10.10.126 255.255.255.0 secondary ip address 10.10.10.254 255.255.255.0 ip access-group 100 out ip helper-address 10.10.20.36 no ip redirects I tried turning on a VMWare machine on this subnet that was configured to use DHCP, but I never got a DHCP response and the DHCP server didn't receive a request. I tried putting the following in the access-list: access-list 100 permit udp host 10.10.10.254 host 10.10.20.36 eq bootps access-list 100 permit udp host 10.10.10.254 host 10.10.20.36 eq bootpc access-list 100 permit udp host 10.10.20.36 host 10.10.10.254 eq bootps access-list 100 permit udp host 10.10.20.36 host 10.10.10.254 eq bootpc That didn't help. Can anybody see what the problem is? I know that the DHCP server works; our whole network is running off of this DHCP server I also know that the subnet works because we have active servers running on the network The DHCP scope is already defined on the DHCP server The subnet is correctly defined on the VMWare server (already servers running on the subnet on VMWare) Edit 2012-10-19: This is solved! The subnet had formerly been defined as a /25 network, but was then expanded into a /24 network. When the DHCP scope was altered after this change it was done incorrectly; the gateway was moved to .254, the leasable IP range was in the lower half of the /24 subnet but we forgot to change the CIDR prefix from /25 into /24. This happened some 2 years ago, and we didn't need to use DHCP on this server network again until this week. Thank you MDMarra and Jason Seemann for looking at the question and trying to troubleshoot. Now I'm wondering if I should mark Jason's answer as the accepted answer (I am new to the Stack Exchange network, so I don't know the etiquette of what to do if I misstated the question like in this case).

• Doing large updates against indexed view

  We have an indexed view that runs across three large tables. Two of these tables (A & B) are constantly getting updated with user transactions and the other table (C) contains data product info that is needs to be updated once a week. This product table contains over 6 million records. We need this view across these three tables for our core business process and unfortunately we cannot change this aspect. We even had a sql server MVP come in to help test under load to make sure we have the most efficient configuration. There is one column in the product table that gets utilized in the view and has to be updated each week. The problem we are now encountering is that as volume is increasing on our transactions against tables A & B, the update to Table C is causing deadlocks. I have tried several different methods to no avail: 1) I was hoping that we could change the view so that table C could be a dirty read "WITH (NOLOCK)" but apparently that functionality is not available with indexes views. 2) I thought about updating a new column in Table C and then just renaming it when the process is done but you cannot do that due to the dependency in the view. 3) I also entertained the idea of writing this value to a temporary product table, and then running an ALTER statement against the view to have it point to my new table. however when i did that the indexes on my view were dropped and it took quite a bit of time to recreate them. 4) we tried to do the weekly update in small chunks (as small as 100 records at a time) but we still run into dead locks. questions: a) we are using sql server 2005. Does sql server 2008 have a new functionality with their indexed views that would help us? Is there now a way to do dirty reads w/ an indexed view? b) a better approach to altering an existing view to point to a new table? thanks!

• iPhone: Animating a view when another view appears/disappears

  I have the following view hierarchy UITabBarController - UINavigationController - UITableViewController When the table view appears (animated) I create a toolbar and add it as subview of the TabBar at the bottom of the page and let it animate in with the table view. Same procedure in other direction, when the table view disappears. It does not work as expected. The animation duration is OK, but somehow not exact the same as the animation of the table view when it becomes visible When I display the table view for the second time, the toolbar does not disappear at all and remains at the bottom of the parent view. • iPhone View Switching basics.

  I am just trying to get my head around simple view switching for the iPhone and have created a simple app to try and help me understand it. I have included the code from my root controller used to switch the views. My app has a single toolbar with three buttons on it each linking to one view. Here is my code to do this but I think there most be a more efficient way to achieve this? Is there a way to find out / remove the current displayed view instead of having to do the if statements to see if either has a superclass?
