  When using sfDoctrineGuard plugin, it automatically generates the backend administration functionality where I can edit users of the system and assign them permissions. So I visit http://.../backend_dev.php/sf_guard_user/:id/edit where I am presented with the user's information including the available permissions to select. By default the permissions are shown as a multiple select box, HTML follows: <select name="sf_guard_user[permissions_list][]" multiple="multiple" id="sf_guard_user_permissions_list"> <option value="1">Permission1</option> <option value="2">Permission2</option> <option value="3">Permission3</option> <option value="4">Permission4</option> </select> What I would prefer is a list of checkboxes. So I searched around and found that if I add the option "expanded" set to true to the following code: 'permissions_list' => new sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoice(array('multiple' => true, 'model' => 'sfGuardPermission', 'expanded' => true,)), The code is part of this file: lib/form/doctrine/sfDoctrineGuardPlugin/base/BasesfGuardUserForm.class.php. I don't think I should've edited this file (potential for changes to be overwritten should sfDoctrineGuard ever be re-installed) but couldn't think of another way to make it work. I started writing my own sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoicePermission class that extends the same class as sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoice but am struggling to edit the rendering functions correctly for the desired output. Is this the correct way to go about this work? I also need to integrate my sfGuardUserProfile model into the edit user page (same as above), I read somwhere that editing the generator.yml file for the sfGuardUser plugin module and simply adding the field names from the sfGuardUserProfile table would make it work, but sadly it doesn't. Any help with any of my queries would be appreciated. Thanks

  System.IO.Path in .NET is notoriously clumsy to work with. In my various projects I keep encountering the same usage scenarios which require repetitive, verbose and thus error-prone code snippets that use Path.Combine, Path.GetFileName, Path.GetDirectoryName, String.Format, etc. Scenarios like: changing the extension for a given file name changing the directory path for a given file name building a file path using string formatting (like "Package{0}.zip") building a path without resorting to using hard-coded directory delimiters like \ (since they don't work on Linux on Mono) etc etc Before starting to write my own PathBuilder class or something similar: is there a good (and proven) open-source implementation of such a thing in C#?

  I have been fiddling with this code for a few days. Mind you I am a beginner. I just want to get my script to be able to download a remote file, and scan MineCraft plugins. I got the scan plugins to work, but I'm having two other issues.   I am writing a gem which provides helpers for views. The HTML I want to insert via the helper is complex enough that I'd rather write it in a _partial.html.erb file. How do I get the gem's view path include in the application's load_path? Note: the only gem I've found that does something like this is Devise. • LinqKit stack overflow exception using predicate builder

  I am writing an application in C# using LINQ and LINQKit. I have a very large database table with company registration numbers in it. I want to do a LINQ query which will produce the equivalent SQL: select * from table1 where regno in('123','456') The 'in' clause may have thousands of terms. First I get the company registration numbers from a field such as Country. I then add all the company registration numbers to a predicate: var predicate = PredicateExtensions.False<table2>(); if (RegNos != null) { foreach (int searchTerm in RegNos) { int temp = searchTerm; predicate = predicate.Or(ec => ec.regno.Equals(temp)); } } On Windows Vista Professional a stack overflow exception occured after 4063 terms were added. On Windows Server 2003 a stack overflow exception occured after about 1000 terms were added. I had to solve this problem quickly for a demo. To solve the problem I used this notation: var predicate = PredicateExtensions.False<table2>(); if (RegNosDistinct != null) { predicate = predicate.Or(ec => RegNos.Contains(ec.regno)); } My questions are: Why does a stack overflow occur using the foreach loop? I take it Windows Server 2003 has a much smaller stack per process\thread than NT\2000\XP\Vista\Windows 7 workstation versions of Windows. Which is the fastest and most correct way to achieve this using LINQ and LINQKit? It was suggested I stop using LINQ and go back to dynamic SQL or ADO.NET but I think using LINQ and LINQKit is far better for maintainability.

With apt-get it worked easily, while aptitude had a huge problem with dependencies and proposed a complicated solution. Why is this so? • CakeDC Users Plugin - I Can't Send Emails

I've just installed CakePHP 2.2, and the first thing I've done is add the cakeDC Users plugin. It's all working, apart from sending an email verification when a user registers. I've tried so many combinations of different things in email.php, that I have now utterly got my knickers in a twist. Whatever I do, when the verification email should be sent, all I get is: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. • flex builder 3 compiler won't show errors or compile specific pages

  In flexbuilder 3 for some mxml files I can purposely put in syntax errors and the compiler will seem to compile the specific page(but actually not compile it) or report any errors for that page. Is there any way that you know of to get the compiler to report the errors to me so I can get it to compile the page. I've tried rebuilding all and cleaning the project already.

Unfortunately, even when I access this page from a brand-new browser (Firefox, just installed, which means no cookies or sessions exist) and I am still redirected. Note the PHP code below[2]. Also, the SITE_HOST is a constant for the www. address. I think the actual condition that is being met is response.status being equal to "unknown". This status check implies an unsuccessful response from Facebook, right? Without this getLoginStatus check in the code, it will actually load the the registration page, and a Facebook registration form: Note how it says: "You have registered", which I did a month ago (assuming this qualification is met by allowing the Facebook App permissions, which was done when I initially installed the Facebook SDK). So why would the redirect code work for me (seemingly), then still redirect me when I am using a browser NOT signed in to Facebook? Also, the jQuery function at the bottom of the script loads all.js. This is all I need, right? Footnotes: Someone with "connected" status is logged in to Facebook and has approved your Facebook App permissions. No matter which page this was on it caused this, and since this code appears in a global include file, I've restricting from printing to only on the registration page, which was the intention for this code to my understanding.

• z-index not working in IE8 with the sortable jQuery plugin

  I'm working with the jQuery Sortable plugin to drag and drop images from one box to another box. This works fine in ff,chrome and safari but it fails in IE8. It seems that when you start dragging that the image is send to the back. I've tried to solve this by adding the z-index option to the sortable plugin, i've tried appending it to a node higher in the hierarchy (body). It appears that setting a z-index on every other item in the page would fix this, haven't tried it yet and i'm not planning on doing this because this would mess up alot. • Loading images from Facebook in Flash Builder

  Hi, I'm doing a Facebook App where I'd like to pull out all the possible images from a user's album. • Why are my sprite sheet's frames not visible in Cocos Builder?

  I have created a sprite sheet with zwoptex. Then I just dragged the .plist and .png files to my Cocos Builder project. After this I wanted to take a sprite frame and set it to a sprite: But the sprite image is empty! At first I thought it was just empty in Cocos Builder, and that it must have been working correctly when imported to a project. But if I try to run that scene with CCBReader I still see an empty sprite. Why?
