  I have a little problem with the icon in lwjgl, it doesn't work. I google about it, but i haven't found anything that works for me yet.   My screen brightness used to dim after a few seconds to preserve battery. This is default in Ubuntu 12.04. However when watching video it should not dim. This works correctly when I watch videos using native applications like VLC. With in-browser video, however, the screen is not prevented from dimming. This is very annoying as you have to move your cursor every 10 seconds or so. I used to use Mac OSX where I had the same dimming settings and Flash videos were taken into account correctly. Anyone an idea how you can make YouTube prevent your screen from dimming?

  guys! I encountered an installation problem when I try to make a dual boot computer of win8 and ubuntu 13.10. I follow this guide:http://overtond.blogspot.tw/2013/10/ubuntu-on-gigabyte-p34g-ultrablade.html because the same of the laptop GIGABYTE p34g. I disabled the secure boot(as well as 3D graphic acceleration and Intel rapid start as the above script advised) and start installing. However, installation got stuck like this(http://ppt.cc/iMYQ). I have been bothered by this for a week. Any advice would help, thanks!

  I'm trying to configure dovecot/imap to run without SSL. I set ssl = no in 10-ssl.conf in /etc/dovecot/conf.d. However, with this setting, dovecot dies right away when it is started. I checked the log file and found the following: dovecot main process (4895) terminated with status 89 What does it mean? Is there a way for dovecot to run without ssl? The reason I do NOT want ssl is that my outlook complains the certificate cannot be verified. It is really annoying. And I only run the server on a very small lan and don't need that extra security.

• Is imposing the same code format for all developers a good idea?

  We are considering to impose a single standard code format in our project (auto format with save actions in Eclipse). The reason is that currently there is a big difference in the code formats used by several (10) developers which makes it harder for one developer to work on the code of another developer. The same Java file sometimes uses 3 different formats. So I believe the advantage is clear (readability = productivity) but would it be a good idea to impose this? And if not, why? UPDATE We all use Eclipse and everyone is aware of the plan. There already is a code format used by most but it is not enforced since some prefer to stick to their own code format. Because of the above reasons some would prefer to enforce it.

I picked .NET because I thought that it would be more used in the financial world. I've heard some horror stories about badly done VBA Excel programming and being way underpaid...but then I've heard great stories about highly skilled C++ programming along with high pay (including some feedback to previous questions).   This is what advanced settings tell me: Shell Laptop lid close action on battery suspend Shell Laptop lid close action when on AC suspend I couldn't post a screenshot because "new users aren't allowed to post images. Earn more than 10 reputation to post images" The screen is on when I open the lid after closing for a few seconds. But not when I suspend from the session menu. Still the battery on my Dell inspiron N5110 is always empty when I get back to it after closing the lid. 'Why' is my question.

• Why is Thunderbird pegging a core at 100%?

  I have experienced 2-3 unexplained lockup over last 10 days. Today, I had a random lockup (no mouse, keyboard response, 100% CPU). But, when I finally switched (Ctrl-Alt-F1) to command line (it took several minutes) it told me that thunderbird-bin had locked a CPU. I ran this to resolve: pidof thunderbird-bin sudo kill #### However, after saving other work, I tried restarting Thunderbird. It went to 90%+ CPU, and within 20 seconds it locked again. Once I have more detail I will raise a bug (on Ubuntu Forums). Does anyone have any other suggestions, advice? UPDATE Thunderbird 13.0.1 is quite stable in safe mode. Still working to resolve ..

  I just hate how I'll put in 8-10 hours in and get little to nothing back. The return results for your efforts seem to be pathetically small the majority of the time and I don't find that rewarding enough for me to put in the time and effort to learn programming and make myself better. I've heard game design is fun and I think I'd love that but apparently you can only get into that really if you can program, is that true? I feel a bit lost because I'm doing a degree in Games Technology and am worried that I'm sending myself into a job I'll hate.

  I installed the kubuntu-desktop package in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, but the problem is KDE responses very slowly. If I click on an application's icon to run it, it appears after 10 seconds and sometimes does not appear at all. It hangs all the time. The cursor is almost impossible to follow because of the lag. I have read on the Internet that Unity uses more memory and CPU than KDE. But on my PC Unity runs smoothly and KDE does not. So what should I do to make KDE as fast, responsive and smooth as Unity? My specifications are as follows: RAM: 1.5 GB (DDR2) Processor: 3 GHz Dual Core Graphics Card: Intel HD graphics with 256 MB memory.
