• How to stop UITableView moveRowAtIndexPath from leaving blank rows upon reordering

  I am having an issue where in reordering my UITableViewCells, the tableView is not scrolling with the cell. Only a blank row appears and any subsequent scrolling gets an Array out of bounds error without any of my code in the Stack Trace. Here is a quick video of the problem. I am using the three20 framework and I have not had any issues with reordering till now. The problem is also not in the updateCellBackgroundPositionsForTableView: method as it still crashes when this is commented out.

  I want to disable editing ALL objects within a particular TabularInline instance, while still allowing additions and while still allowing editing of the parent model. I have this trivial setup: class SuperviseeAdmin(admin.TabularInline): model = Supervisee class SupervisorAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): inlines = [SuperviseeAdmin] admin.site.register(Supervisor, SupervisorAdmin) I have tried adding a has_change_permission function to SuperviseeAdmin that returns False unconditionally, but it had no effect. I have tried setting actions = None in SuperviseeAdmin but it had no effect. What might I be overlooking that could get this to work?

• Handling Model Inheritance in ASP.NET MVC2 & NHibernate

  I've gotten myself stuck on how to handle inheritance in my model when it comes to my controllers/views. Basic Model: public class Procedure : Entity { public Procedure() { } public int Id { get; set; } public DateTime ProcedureDate { get; set; } public ProcedureType Type { get; set; } } public ProcedureA : Procedure { public double VariableA { get; set; } public int VariableB { get; set; } public int Total { get; set; } } public ProcedureB : Procedure { public int Score { get; set; } } etc... many of different procedures eventually. So, I do things like list all the procedures: public class ProcedureController : Controller { public virtual ActionResult List() { IEnumerable<Procedure> procedures = _repository.GetAll(); return View(procedures); } } but now I'm kinda stuck. Basically, from the list page, I need to link to pages where the specific subclass details can be viewed/edited and I'm not sure what the best strategy is. I thought I could add an action on the ProcedureController that would conjure up the right subclass by dynamically figuring out what repository to use and loading the subclass to pass to the view. I had to store the class in the ProcedureType object. I had to create/implement a non-generic IRepository since I can't dynamically cast to a generic one. public virtual ActionResult Details(int procedureID) { Procedure procedure = _repository.GetById(procedureID, false); string className = procedure.Type.Class; Type type = Type.GetType(className, true); Type repositoryType = typeof (IRepository<>).MakeGenericType(type); var repository = (IRepository)DependencyRegistrar.Resolve(repositoryType); Entity procedure = repository.GetById(procedureID, false); return View(procedure); } I haven't even started sorting out how the view is going to determine which partial to load to display the subclass details. I'm wondering if this is a good approach? This makes determining the URL easy. It makes reusing the Procedure display code easy. Another approach is specific controllers for each subclass. It simplifies the controller code, but also means many simple controllers for the many procedure subclasses. Can work out the shared Procedure details with a partial view. How to get to construct the URL to get to the controller/action in the first place? Time to not think about it. Hopefully someone can show me the light. Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I have a problem with parameters replacing by Spring JdbcTemplate. So if the user is brasilian I'd send him the column pt_br from the table fix_i18n, otherwise if he's american I'd send him the column en_us. What I get from this method is a PostgreSQL exception org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: syntax error at or near "$1" If I replace fi.? with just ? (the column name of the locale is unique, so if I run this query in the database it works just fine) what I get is that every object returned from method has the string locale into the field name. I.e. in name field I have "en_us". What am I doing wrong?

In this case, I've added a impersonation in the the code that runs asynchronously. I have no errors, but the issue I'm having is that the impersonation does not work when it is used in the async method. In code this looks something like this: instantiate a BGWorker, and add an event handler to the DoWork event: _bgWorker = new BackgroundWorker(); _bgWorker.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(_bgWorker_DoWork); in the above handler, a impersonation is made before running some code. private void _bgWorker_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { MyImpersonation myImpersonation = new MyImpersonation(); myImpersonation.impersonateValidUser(user, domain, pass) //run some code... myImpersonation.undoImpersonation(); } the code is launched with BGWorker.RunWorkerAsync(); As I said before, no error is thrown, only that the code acts as if I did't run any impersonation, that is with it's default credentials. Moreover, the impersonation method returns true, so the impersonation took place at a certain level, but probably not on the current thread. This must happen because the async code runs on another thread, so there must be something that needs to be added to the MyImpersonation class. But what?? :) Thanks in advance, Lucian

• Math.max and Math.min outputting highest and lowest values allowed

  so I'm trying to make a program that will output the sum, average, and smallest and largest values. I have everything basically figured out except the smallest and largest values are outputting 2147483647 and -2147483647, which I believe are the absolute smallest and largest values that Java will compute. Anyway, I want to compute the numbers that a user enters, so this obviously isn't correct. Here is my class. • How to read an IIS 6 Website's Directory Structure using WMI?

  I need to read a website's folders using WMI and C# in IIS 6.0. I am able to read the Virtual directories and applications using the "IISWebVirtualDirSetting" class. However the physical folders located inside a website cannot be read using this class. And for my case i need to read sub folders located within a website and later on set permission on them. For my requirement i dont need to work on Virtual Directories/Web Service Applications (which can be easily obtained using the code below..). I have tried to use IISWebDirectory class but it has been useful. • Implementing an async "read all currently available data from stream" operation

  I recently provided an answer to this question: C# - Realtime console output redirection. As often happens, explaining stuff (here "stuff" was how I tackled a similar problem) leads you to greater understanding and/or, as is the case here, "oops" moments. I realized that my solution, as implemented, has a bug. The bug has little practical importance, but it has an extremely large importance to me as a developer: I can't rest easy knowing that my code has the potential to blow up. Squashing the bug is the purpose of this question. I apologize for the long intro, so let's get dirty. I wanted to build a class that allows me to receive input from a console's standard output Stream. Console output streams are of type FileStream; the implementation can cast to that, if needed. There is also an associated StreamReader already present to leverage. There is only one thing I need to implement in this class to achieve my desired functionality: an async "read all the data available this moment" operation. Reading to the end of the stream is not viable because the stream will not end unless the process closes the console output handle, and it will not do that because it is interactive and expecting input before continuing. I will be using that hypothetical async operation to implement event-based notification, which will be more convenient for my callers. The public interface of the class is this: public class ConsoleAutomator { public event EventHandler<ConsoleOutputReadEventArgs> StandardOutputRead; public void StartSendingEvents(); public void StopSendingEvents(); } StartSendingEvents and StopSendingEvents do what they advertise; for the purposes of this discussion, we can assume that events are always being sent without loss of generality. The class uses these two fields internally: protected readonly StringBuilder inputAccumulator = new StringBuilder(); protected readonly byte[] buffer = new byte[256]; The functionality of the class is implemented in the methods below. To get the ball rolling: public void StartSendingEvents(); { this.stopAutomation = false; this.BeginReadAsync(); } To read data out of the Stream without blocking, and also without requiring a carriage return char, BeginRead is called: protected void BeginReadAsync() { if (!this.stopAutomation) { this.StandardOutput.BaseStream.BeginRead( this.buffer, 0, this.buffer.Length, this.ReadHappened, null); } } The challenging part: BeginRead requires using a buffer. This means that when reading from the stream, it is possible that the bytes available to read ("incoming chunk") are larger than the buffer. Remember that the goal here is to read all of the chunk and call event subscribers exactly once for each chunk. To this end, if the buffer is full after EndRead, we don't send its contents to subscribers immediately but instead append them to a StringBuilder. This is a deliberate decision). The good This scheme works almost perfectly: Async functionality without spawning any threads Very convenient to the calling code (just subscribe to an event) Never more than one event for each time data is available to be read Is almost agnostic to the buffer size The bad That last almost is a very big one. Consider what happens when there is an incoming chunk with length exactly equal to the size of the buffer. The chunk will be read and buffered, but the event will not be triggered. This will be followed up by a BeginRead that expects to find more data belonging to the current chunk in order to send it back all in one piece, but... there will be no more data in the stream. In fact, as long as data is put into the stream in chunks with length exactly equal to the buffer size, the data will be buffered and the event will never be triggered. This scenario may be highly unlikely to occur in practice, especially since we can pick any number for the buffer size, but the problem is there. Solution? Unfortunately, after checking the available methods on FileStream and StreamReader, I can't find anything which lets me peek into the stream while also allowing async methods to be used on it. One "solution" would be to have a thread wait on a ManualResetEvent after the "buffer filled" condition is detected. If the event is not signaled (by the async callback) in a small amount of time, then more data from the stream will not be forthcoming and the data accumulated so far should be sent to subscribers. However, this introduces the need for another thread, requires thread synchronization, and is plain inelegant. Specifying a timeout for BeginRead would also suffice (call back into my code every now and then so I can check if there's data to be sent back; most of the time there will not be anything to do, so I expect the performance hit to be negligible). But it looks like timeouts are not supported in FileStream. Since I imagine that async calls with timeouts are an option in bare Win32, another approach might be to PInvoke the hell out of the problem. But this is also undesirable as it will introduce complexity and simply be a pain to code. Is there an elegant way to get around the problem? Thanks for being patient enough to read all of this. • xVal 1.0 not generating the correct xVal.AttachValidator

  I'm currently implementing xVal client-side validation. The server-side validation is working correctly at the moment. I have referenced xVall.dll (from xVal1.0.zip) in my project as well as the System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations and System.web.mvc.DataAnnotations from the Data Annotations Model Binder Sample found at http://aspnet.codeplex.com/releases/view/24471. I have modified the method BindProperty in the DataAnnotationsModelBinder class since it returned a nullpointer exception telling me the modelState object was null. Some blogposts described to modify the method and I did according to this SO post. The last thing I found was this post but I did not really understand. I referenced using Visual Studio - add reference -- browse - selected from my bin dir where I stored the external compiled dlls (copied to the bin dir of my project). Can anyone tell me where the problem originates from?

  Hi, I have the current scenario whereby an Article has only 1 Outcome each. Each Article may or may not have an Outcome. In theory, this is a one-to-one mapping, but since NHibernate does not really support one-to-one, I used a One-To-Many to substitute. My Primary Key on the child table is actually the ArticleID (FK). The error is something to the like of Cannot insert NULL into ArticleID in ArticleOutcome table. The deletion works if I place Inverse() to the Article's HasMany() mapping, but insertion will fail. Does anyone have a solution for this? Or do I really have to add a surrogate key to the ArticleOutcome table?

• Use RedirectToAction in a JsonResult Action?

  Hi, using ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and I have a action that returns a JsonResult and I need to redirect another action that also returns a JsonResult action type. The problem is the RedirectToAction() returns a RedirectToRouteResult class and seems there is no way to convert that to JsonResult class ? This is the error I am getting; Error 124 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Web.Mvc.RedirectToRouteResult' to 'System.Web.Mvc.JsonResult'
