    Hi folks, I have a task: All items within categories should be sorted alphabetically except for Examples. Special characters and numbers should be displayed before letters. I'm facing with a problem. Most of standart sort functions and plugins are being used the ASCII table. In this table the following symboles: ~,},{ etc. have the index more than letters,for example: Actual result of sorting is: 1 - #1 A T 2 - A T 3 - {C T I need to get: 1 - #1 A T 2 - {C T 3 - A T Plese give me your piece of advice or sny examples ASAP.   • Silverlight: Binding a custom control to an arbitrary object

    I am planning on writing a hierarchical organizational control, similar to an org chart. Several org chart implementations are out there, but not quite fit what I have in mind. Binding fields in a DataTemplate to a custom object does not seem to work.   • WPF: Binding to ListBoxItem.IsSelected doesn't work for off-screen items

    In my program I have a set of view-model objects to represent items in a ListBox (multi-select is allowed). The viewmodel has an IsSelected property that I would like to bind to the ListBox so that selection state is managed in the viewmodel rather than in the listbox itself. However, apparently the ListBox doesn't maintain bindings for most of the off-screen items, so in general the IsSelected property is not synchronized correctly. Here is some code that demonstrates the problem. If you click the first item and then press Shift+End, all 200 items should be selected; however, the heading reports that only 21 items are selected. If you click "Select all" then all items are indeed selected. If you then click an item in the ListBox you would expect the other 199 items to be deselected, but this does not happen. Instead, only the items that are on the screen (and a few others) are deselected. All 199 items will not be deselected unless you first scroll through the list from beginning to end (and even then, oddly enough, it doesn't work if you perform scrolling with the little scroll box). My questions are: Can someone explain precisely why this occurs? Can I avoid or work around the problem?

  • JavaOne: Parleys.com, Spring Vs. Java EE and HTML5 tooling

    Parleys.com, a 2012 Duke's Choice Award winner, is an E-Learning platform that host content from different sources (conferences, JUGs meetings, etc.). There is a lot of technical content available for online but also offline consumption, including many sessions on Java EE. Parleys has just released, for free, all the Devoxx 2011 sessions (video and slides sync'ed!). From a technical point of view, Parleys.com is interesting as they have switched from Spring to Java EE 6 to avoid being locked in a proprietary framework. During the GlassFish Community BoF, Stephan Janssen (Parleys.com and Devoxx founder) also presented how GlassFish is used to support 2000 concurrent Parleys users over a cluster of 2 GlassFish instances. Talking about Java EE and/or Spring, Harshad Oak has posted an update on the 'Spring Vs. Java EE' panel discussion that took place on Tuesday. As Arun said standards such as Java EE does not necessarily refrain innovation: "JBoss Forge & Arquillian from RedHat are great examples of innovation in the JavaEE community. Standardization is important but innovation does continue even within that framework." Simplicity, productivity along with HTML5 are the driving themes of Java EE 7. In terms of simplicity and productivity, the developer experience can also be improved by the tooling. Every NetBeans release comes with a large set of improvements, the just released NetBeans 7.3 beta is no exception.     Apart from the differences in syntax, can Scala be considered a superset of Java that adds the functional paradigm to the object-oriented paradigm? Or are there any major features in Java for which there is no direct Scala equivalent? With major features I mean program constructs that would force me to heavily rewrite / restructure my code, e.g., if I had to port a Java program to Scala. Or can I expect that, given a Java program, I can port it to Scala almost line-by-line?

  • Binding update adds news series to WPF Toolkit chart (instead of replacing/updating series)

    I'm currently recoding a bar chart in my app to make use of the Chart class in the WPF Toolkit. Using MVVM, I'm binding the ItemsSource of a ColumnSeries in my chart to a property on my viewmodel. Here's the relevant XAML: <charting:Chart> <charting:ColumnSeries ItemsSource="{Binding ScoreDistribution.ClassScores}" IndependentValuePath="ClassName" DependentValuePath="Score"/> </charting:Chart> And the property on the viewmodel: // NB: viewmodel derived from Josh Smith's BindableObject public class ExamResultsViewModel : BindableObject { // ... private ScoreDistributionByClass _scoreDistribution; public ScoreDistributionByClass ScoreDistribution { get { return _scoreDistribution; } set { if (_scoreDistribution == value) { return; } _scoreDistribution = value; RaisePropertyChanged(() => ScoreDistribution); } } However, when I update the ScoreDistribution property (by setting it to a new ScoreDistribution object), the chart gets an additional series (based on the new ScoreDistribution) as well as keeping the original series (based on the previous ScoreDistribution). But if i save myobject to any variable for future use. It will loose its binding. Anybody ever try to do this ? Using MVVM, I'm binding the ItemsSource of a ColumnSeries in my chart to a property on my viewmodel.
