• Setup: Eclipse in Ubuntu with Apache2 and Subversion

  Trying to setup Eclispe. I am running ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick). Apache2.2.16 Subversion 1.6.12 The Eclipse help/about/installed software says: Eclipse Platform 3.5.2 Subclipse 1.0.0 Version Control with Subversion 1.1.1 The Subclips wiki I followed is here I have installed the libsvn-java app as discussed. I added the line "-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni" to the eclipse.ini file I checked the Eclipse help/about/confirguration settings and both of these lines are listed: eclipse.vmargs=-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni java.library.path=/usr/lib/jni I checked that those files are in those directories. Still, when I check the preferencesteamsvn an error dialog shows: Failed to load JavaHL Library. These are the errors that were encountered: no libsvnjavahl.1 in java.library.path Incompatible JavaHL library loaded 1.3.x or later required I followed the "Testing JavaHL libraries" troubleshooting section at the bottom of the wiki: I downloaded the tarbal and ran it in a folder on my desktop with no problems. Then, I followed the instructions and placed that file INSIDE the path (usr/lib/jni/testJavaHL) and ran it from there. There are 50 tests performed and each one of them came back with this same error (posting only one for brevity): 50) testCommitRevprops(org.tigris.subversion.javahl.BasicTests)java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/lib/jni/testJavaHL/local_tmp/greek_files/iota (No such file or directory) at java.io.FileOutputStream.open(Native Method) at java.io.FileOutputStream.<init>(FileOutputStream.java:209) at java.io.FileOutputStream.<init>(FileOutputStream.java:160) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.WC.materialize(WC.java:70) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.SVNTests.buildGreekFiles(SVNTests.java:303) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.SVNTests.setUp(SVNTests.java:222) at org.tigris.subversion.javahl.RunTests.main(RunTests.java:111) FAILURES!!! Tests run: 50, Failures: 0, Errors: 50 Any ideas as to how/why the "local_tmp/greek_files/iota" is appended to the directory? I assume that's my problem.. I'm also having a problem with newrepository location = ...as the directory location of my svn repository is one level above the home directory - which is prepended to whatever I place in the dialog box - resulting in this error: svn: '/home/ricalsin/file:/home/svn' does not exist Thank you for any help.

• Excel equivilant of java's String.contains(String otherString)

  I have a cell that has a fairly archaic String. (It's the mana cost of a Magic: the Gathering spell.) Examples are 3g, 2gg, 3ur, and bg. There are 5 possible letters (g w u b r). I have 5 columns and would like to count at the bottom how many of each it contains. So my spreadsheet might look like this A B C D E F G +-------------------------------------------- 1|Name Cost G W U B R 2|Centaur Healer 1gw 1 1 0 0 0 3|Sunspire Griffin 1ww 0 1 0 0 0 // just 1, even though 1ww 4|Rakdos Shred-Freak {br}{br} 0 0 0 1 1 Basically, I want something that looks like =if(contains($A2,C$1),1,0) and I can drag it across all 5 columns and down all 270 some cards. (Those are actual data, by the way. It's not mocked :-) .) In Java I would do this: String[] colors = { "B", "G", "R", "W", "U" }; for(String color : colors) { System.out.print(cost.toUpperCase().contains(color) ? 1 : 0); System.out.print("\t"); } Is there something like this in using Excel 2010. I tried using find() and search() and they work great if the color exists. But if the color doesn't exist, it returns #value - so I get 1 1 #value #value #value instead of 1 1 0 0 0 for, example, Centaur Healer (row 2). The formula used was if(find($A2,C$1) > 0, 1, 0).

• Multiple Components in a JTree Node Renderer & Node Editor

  I am attempting to create a JTree where a node has several components: a JPanel that holds a JCheckBox, followed by a JLabel, then a JComboBox. I have attached the code at the bottom if one wishes to run it. Fortunately the JTree correctly renders the components. However when I click on the JComboBox, the node disappears; if I click on the JCheckBox, it works fine. It seems that I am doing something wrong with how the TreeCellEditor is being set up. How could I resolve this issue? Am I going beyond the capabilities of JTree? Here's a quick overview of the code I have posted below. The class EntityListDialog merely creates the user interface. It is not useful to understand it other than the createTree method. Node is the data structure that holds information about each node in the JTree. All Nodes have a name, but samples may be null or an empty array. This should be evident by looking at EntityListDialog's createTree method. The name is used as the text of the JCheckBox. If samples is non-empty, it is used as the contents of the JCheckBox. NodeWithSamplesRenderer renders Nodes whose samples are non-empty. It creates the complicated user interface with the JPanel consisting of the JCheckBox and the JComboBox. NodeWithoutSamplesRenderer creates just a JCheckBox when samples is empty. RendererDispatcher decides whether to use a NodeWithSamplesRenderer or a NodeWithoutSamplesRenderer. This entirely depends on whether Node has a non-empty samples member or not. It essentially functions as a means for the NodeWith*SamplesRenderer to plug into the JTree.   I'm trying to run Selenium RC 1.0.3 using Java 6, JUnit 4, and Eclipse on Snow Leopard. • problem with seam and mdb on jboss5.1

  I have a problem when using a mdb as a seam component. In the bean I inject some other seam somponents. The problem is that when the server restart after a crash and the mdb is deployed it starts reading the messages but seam is not initialized yet and I got an exception(listed above). If i start the server whith the queues empty and submit a message to queue after the server start it is working ok. Is there a posibility to stop or delay the sending off messages on server startup and start sending them only when seam is fully funcional? • HttpClient commons-httpclient Digest Authentication.

  I am getting this error from a PostMethod using commons-httpclient No credentials available for DIGEST 'realm'@localhost and a 401 back from the server. I followed the example from this post java client program to send digest authentication request using HttpClient API (2) However, it still seems to fail. I am trying to connect to a XML-RPC service, we use digest authentication. I tried using the Apache xmlrpc library but it seems to not support digest authentication. Any ideas? Thanks.

  Hello, Im doing a Java application and Im facing some doubts in which concerns performance. I have a PriorityQueue which guarantees me the element removed is the one with greater priority. That PriorityQueue has instances of class Event (which implements Comparable interface). Each Event is associated with a Entity. The size of that priorityqueue could be huge and very frequently I will have to remove events associated to an entity. Right now Im using an iterator to run all the priorityqueue. However Im finding it heavy and I wonder if there are better alternatives to search and remove events associated with an entity "xpto". Any suggestions? Thanks!

  I have a web service that I built with Axis2/Java. The web service will take in a list of objects and will process them. I'll use the following operation as an example. public class AddToDatabaseService{ public void addToDatabase(String name1, String name2, String name3, ....) { //add names to database } } I want the caller of my web service to use a URI like: http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/addToDatabase?name1=Joe&name2=Bob&name3=Kelly&name4=... I'm aware this is not compilable code and the idea is still there. Is this even possible with SOAP-based web services? I know this is possible to do with RESTful services because you can just take the HttpServletRequest request object and do Enumeration enumeration = request.getParameterNames() and iterate through them. I'm looking for the equivalent of that in web services POJO's with Axis2. A link or an sample program would be great! Thanks.

  My input is a well-formed XML document and a corresponding XML Schema document. What I would like to do is determine the location within the XML document that causes it to fail validation against the XML Schema document.   I have to use EMF in one of my class projects. I am trying to understand how to use EMF to do the following: Read XML, Get the values into objects. Use ORM to persist the values in objects to database. - Done Get data from database using ORM and generate XML. I need to do all of that using: EMF (no idea what so ever) and JPA (DONE).   I am using JdbcTemplate.queryForInt to insert a Row into the DB, and then get the ID back. The Query is "INSERT INTO metadocs(NAME) values (?) RETURNING METADOCID". If I run the statement in Flamerobin, it works fine. • iText - Modifying PDFWriter# Verticle Alignment manually

  Ive hit upon a problem using iText (java), despite hours of looking thru the docs.. Most of the code I use goes via the Document# API which tracks (via the PDFWriter instance) the current Y position. HOWEVER, we need to use the PdfContentByte part of the API to insert some Java2d into the document, but in doing so this appears to bypass the logic which tracks verticle writes. So next time I use the Document API, it overwrites the contents of the manually inserted things. I want to mimick the behaviour of the Document# API by manually moving the cursor on N number of units (N being the height of the element inserted by the PDFContentByte API), such that when I then use the Document object again, bingo, its cursor is in the correct location. I can see that a method to obtain the cursor exists; PdfWriter#getVerticalPosition(boolean); But not one to set it?! Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

  I am currently modifying an existing system that generates reports with iText and java. The report template is as follows: Header1(PdfPTable) Header2(PdfPTable) Body(PdfPTable) I am currently using the writeSelectedRows to display Header1 and Header2, but document.add is used to display the Body. The problem is that the system is setup to write the headers AFTER the body has already been displayed on the screen, so I am displaying my headers on top of my body content. My question is how do I add my body table (using document.add) and have it display about halfway down the page (or any predetermined vertical position)? This way I would have sufficient room to display my headers above the body table. Note: I believe the body table is using document.add to facilitate automatic paging if the body content is too large.

  I watched today as someone painlessly exported a NetBeans java project to a JNLP file and HTML file that he could just copy to his web server. I, for whatever reason, have found making JNLPs someone challenging, and would love if I could do the same in Eclipse, but I can't seem to find such a function or a plugin which does this. The only thing I've found is this article but I can't really parse it, it's a bit dense to me, for instance it mentions: Ensure that the org.eclipse.equinox.launcher plug-in is in the feature or in one of the included feature; But if that's even a grammatical sentence, I don't know how to ensure what it says.

  I am trying use a Java Uploader in a ROR app (for its ease of uploading entire directories). The selected uploader comes with some PHP code that saves the files to the server. I am trying to translate this code to Ruby, but am stumped on this point: PHP has a very convenient superglobal – $_FILES – that contains a hash of all files uploaded to the current script via the HTTP POST method. It appears Ruby does not have a similar resource. Lacking that, what is the best way to access and save the uploaded files? I am using the JavaPowUpload uploader ( http://www.element-it.com/OnlineHelpJavaPowUpload/index.html ).

  I need to know, in a context of a unit test, if Jetbrains IntelliJ idea is the test initiator and if it is, which version is running (or at least if it's "9" or earlier). I don't mind doing dirty tricks (reflection, filesystem, environment...) but I do need this to work "out-of-the-box" (without each developer having to setup something special). I've tried some reflection but couldn't find a unique identifier I could latch onto. Any idea? Oh - the language is Java.

• Conversion of bytes into a type without changing the application (ie storing the conversion method i

  Is there a way to store a conversion strategy (for converting some bytes) into a database and then execute it on the run time. If one were to store a complete java file, you would need to compile it, store the class and some how inject into the already running system. I am not sure how this would be possible. But using some kind of dynamic language on JVM would be nice. I see an example of execution of groovy from within spring context here http://www.devx.com/tips/Tip/42789 but this is still static in nature as application context contains the reference to the implementation and cannot be changed by database. Perhaps with JavaConfig of context it is possible. I am exploring options now, specifically with Spring 3.0. Your suggestions in any direction would be welcome.

• How do I copy the layout from a header of a JTabbedPane onto a JPanel?

  I have created a "CollapsingPanel"class/sort of a JTabbedPane (code skeleton can be found at http://www.coderanch.com/t/341737/Swing-AWT-SWT-JFace/java/Expand-Collapse-Panels). It is in other words a lot of headers which you click on to show a hidden Panel. At the moment these header-panels are a rectangular box with a LineBorder around them. That is ugly! I'm wondering if there is a way to copy the layout that the JTabbedPane uses for its headers/titles (which is inhierted from Look&Feel I assume) and use it on my JPanel-based headers? So that my headers get a smooth look which is in line with the rest of the program (based on Look&Feel!) instead of looking like alien flat blocks.
